12th debate, 12th Trump win. It's over

Any Monday Night Football fan who goes back to when Howard Cosell was alive, remembers Don Meredith singing as the game got out of hand, "Turn out the lights, the party's over."

Do Republicans hear him singing now?

They should. Last night's debate showed Trump's opponents have nothing left to offer America except their sadness, their disappointment, and their "Blood, Sweat and Tears" albums.

Trump doesn't need CPAC

Donald Trump canceled his appearance at CPAC near Washington on Saturday, preferring to stage rallies in Kansas and in Orlando, Florida, going where the votes are.

I am resisting writing that he's going to Disney World.

Oh wait, I just did.

Fox News souring on Rubio?

New York magazine reported, "More Bad News for Marco Rubio: He Just Lost the Support of Fox News."

I guess scoring three out of four endorsements means jack when you take but one out of 15 states. And when that state is Minnesota, they start calling you Fritz Rubio.

Donors are saying they could have gotten the same bad results from Jeb.

Highlights of the News

July is Patriot Month. Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean was the unofficial national anthem for decades. "Thy Banners make tyranny tremble, when borne by the red, white and blue."

Never forget, this country defeated the best military in the world to become free, and brought down Imperial Japan, Fascist Italy, and Nazi Germany. Has anyone seen the Soviet Union lately?

White Flight, 2021

Grace Bureau, a student at Gustavus Adolphus College, has packed up and will leave Minneapolis for good today. She wrote in The College Fix about her decision. Yes, she is in her 20s and lots of people leave home at that age.

Big deal.

But she is being forced to leave because of riots. That is a huge deal.

Cavs set NBA record for TV audiences

I did not blog about the Cleveland Cavaliers winning the NBA championship. I was all set to. People know I grew up in Cleveland, moving to West Virginia at age 27. But surprisingly, I felt such a calmness and joy that I did not see a reason to blog my feelings.

How liberals rank minorities

HuffPost reported, "There Are Two Rhodes Scholars Running For President. Only One Gets Mentioned. Media outlets mention that Pete Buttigieg was a Rhodes scholar far more often than they mention that Cory Booker was one too."

The press martyr wish

The cult of cable news hit another new low today. Press credibility has run in the opposite direction of the stock market since we elected President Trump.

Wall Street has risen to great new wealth. Journalists have squandered their fortune to the point where a hedge fund acquired ownership of the New York Daily News for a buck last fall.

Trump is checking off Hugh Hewitt's list

Hugh Hewitt is outside my ken. There are too many conservative voices out there for me to keep up with all of them. He has a radio show and is well connected within the Republican Party. We share the curse of being Cleveland sports fans by birth. He was born in Warren, Ohio.

We also share fans, and one sent me a note about a Hugh Hewitt T-shirt of yore.

Joe Lockhart has experience dealing with the bad publicity that goes with kneeling.

He was Bill Clinton's spokesman during his impeachment. Now he is the NFL's VP of communication.

Trump up 5 as Cubs win

The silver lining for an Indians fan:

I now feel much better about the Series.
