Finnish PM says Trump was right

When last (and first) we saw Finnish PM Sanna Marin, she was partying like some intern at a mid-sized law firm. Marin at 37 is not a serious person. She went to New Zealand to visit another female PM more than 10,000 miles away. She also dropped by Australia. Well, anything to escape winter in Helsinki.

But then she said something that stunned me. Channeling Donald John Trump, Marin said European nations rely too much on the United States for their defense against Russia.

Via BBC, Marin said, "I must be brutally honest with you, Europe isn't strong enough right now. We would be in trouble without the United States."

Shades of President Trump who frequently warned NATO allies of the very same thing.

On July 11, 2018, Defense News reported, "President Donald Trump opened his European trip Wednesday by attacking NATO allies for unfairly burdening the United States with their security needs and accusing Germany of being 'captive to Russia' because of business interests.

"The comments came at the start of a two-day NATO summit, which White House officials insisted would highlight the strength of the alliance and the importance of cooperation between its members.

"But Trump, who in recent months has frequently complained about what he sees as insufficient defense spending by other alliance members, used his first meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to again criticize the group for relying too much on American might and dollars for their security."

Two months later, in a speech at the UN, Trump warned Germany it was too reliant on Russia for oil and natural gas.

The German delegation laughed.

Germans will freeze this winter because Germany is too reliant on Russia for oil and natural gas. Maybe the Germans should relocate those laughing hyenas to Fulda.

In Sydney on Friday, Marin said, "The United States has given a lot of weapons, a lot of financial aid, a lot of humanitarian aid to Ukraine and Europe isn't strong enough yet."

We only support Ukraine because so many American politicians -- Biden, Pelosi, John Kerry and many others -- get bribes from Ukraine via their adult children and stepchildren. If Russia invaded Romania or Georgia, no one in DC would care.

Marin -- whose country shares an 800-mile border with Russia -- said "For a long time, Europe was building a strategy for Russia... to buy energy from Russia and to close those economic ties, and we thought that this would prevent the war."

Soo-prise, soo-prise, Sergeant Carter. That backfired.

Now Europe is desperately trying to gnaw off its leg to escape Putin's trap.

AP reported, "The Group of Seven nations and Australia joined the European Union on Friday in adopting a $60-per-barrel price cap on Russian oil, a key step as Western sanctions aim to reorder the global oil market to prevent price spikes and starve President Vladimir Putin of funding for his war in Ukraine.

"Europe needed to set the discounted price that other nations will pay by Monday, when an EU embargo on Russian oil shipped by sea and a ban on insurance for those supplies take effect. The price cap, which was led by the G-7 wealthy democracies, aims to prevent a sudden loss of Russian oil to the world that could lead to a new surge in energy prices and further fuel inflation."

We shall see how this works but given that those Biden-led economic sanctions against Russia backfired, I am of belief this will fail too.

CNBC reported, "Russia said on Saturday it would continue to find buyers for its oil, despite what it said was a dangerous attempt by Western governments to introduce a price cap on its oil exports."

And some of those buyers will turn around and sell the oil to Europe.

Until Europe arms itself, its prime ministers may as well all become party girls.

  1. I understand that at 37, Trump was quite the playboy himself, yet he succeeded in business. As long as Prime Minister Marin conscientiously takes care of her statesmanship, she can party all she wants in her spare time.

    5. Prime Minister's position is such that you are expected some dignity, not acting like $5 whore even when you're not at the office. Finnish male prime minister was criticized in media when he wore shorts in public and another male prime minister was criticized when he had extramarital relationship even though he and his ex-wife were already living in separate and they were divorcing. One former foreign minister was forced to resign because he sent sexual text messages to a stripper and the stripper sold them to gossip magazine.

    6. Europe's entire Welfare State was subsidized by cheap Russian energy, mainly pipeline natgas. There is no cheap substitute for Russian energy to Europe.
So Ukraine, birthed by Lenin, Stalin and Khrushchev should have been the one hill upon which Europe ought not be dying on. Sanctions against Russia are an inconvenience for Russia, but are fatal to European Industry and Employment.
Diplomacy and Negotiation should have been the preferred option instead of Belligerence and Stupidity.

  2. So True. Just like Bill Clinton taking advantage of an intern his daughters age, we wouldn't have screamed too loudly if he'd done his nasty with her in say, a hotel or private residence. But in the freaking oval office was just too much. Then lied about it under oath....the mid 1990's with his admin is when USA began its current decline into depravity, dishonor, complete lack of morals, honesty integrity etc. Then the head muslim really accelerated the decline.

In the test run for the media becoming Democrat party stenographers they buried all the bad news about him during the 2008 campaign, or minimized it like they did his racist pastor in Chicago. Barry is not who they said he is, and never has been. He was the first ever Editor of the Law Review at Harvard never to be published in it. He got paid for his memoirs and has yet to turn in a first draft, that's how lazy he is. Nobody gives a damn about the color of is skin, but we do not like Communists, and Barry has always been one.

NATO Announces New Targeting Policies on NATO Members

In light of the recent attacks on NATO members by the Biden Administration, including the bombing of Germany's gas supply line from Russia, the attempted strike on the TurkStream Pipeline and this week's missile strike on Poland, NATO members are now demanding pre-notification before being bombed by Joe Biden.

This demand was sparked by a recent hot mic incident wherein US ReichsMinister for Defense Lloyd Austin was caught saying he "sure would like to take a swack at Montenegro".

"In order to bring stability and predictability to the targeting of NATO members by Biden, we have instituted a targeting lottery we like to call 'Wheel of NATO'", said Secretary General Jan Brady-Stoltenberg, who is both a general and a secretary.

"One lucky member will be chosen each month for an American "sneak" attack and will pretend to be surprised. However, blaming it on Russia will still remain mandatory," said the former child star.
