'Never surrender to the woke mob'

After last night's shocking loss in the counting of votes, conservatives need a little hope. We got a ton of it from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

He took on LGBT, transgender-mania and Disney. And that was just in March. He opened his state for business during the pandemic panic and triggered an economic boon. He is a fighter for the people.

Floridians rewarded him on Tuesday with a landslide victory.

To cheers of Two More Years instead of the four more years he won, DeSantis delivered a rock 'em, sock 'em victory speech.

He said, "The people have delivered their verdict: Freedom is here to stay. Now, thanks to the overwhelming support of the people of Florida we not only won this election; we have rewritten the political map."

Indeed he has. His redistricting plan flipped four Democrat House seats red. He was not afraid to break up a racist and gerrymandered black majority district.

He said, "We saw freedom and our very way of life in so many other jurisdictions in this country wither on the vine. Florida held the line. We chose facts over fear. We chose education over indoctrination."

DeSantis took a lot of crap for that from the Miami Herald.

The steady barrage of attack editorials resulted in Miami-Dade County flipping red for the first time in decades.

DeSantis said, "Florida was a refuge of sanity when the world locked down. We stood as a citadel of freedom for people across this country and indeed across the world. We faced attacks, we took the hits, we weathered the storms, but we stood our ground. We did not back down. We had the conviction to guide us, and we had the courage to lead. We made promises to the people of Florida, and we have delivered on those promises. And so today, after four years, the people have delivered their verdict. Freedom is here to stay."

Fact-check: True.

Florida is a citadel of freedom. A state that for 60 years has welcomed a steady stream of refugees from communism in Cuba now welcomes refugees from communism in California.

He concluded, "Now this great exodus of Americans, for those folks, Florida, for so many of them, has served as the promised land. We have embraced freedom. We have maintained law and order. We have protected the rights of parents. We have respected our taxpayers and we reject woke ideology.

"We fight woke in the legislature. We fight woke in the schools. We fight woke in the corporations. We will never, ever surrender to the woke mob. People have come here because our policies work.

"Leadership matters. We refuse to use polls and put our finger in the wind. Leaders don’t follow, they lead.

"We set out a vision. We executed on that vision and we produced historic results and the people of this state have responded in record fashion.

"Now, while our country flounders due to failed leadership in Washington, Florida is on the right track. I believe the survival of the American experiment requires a revival of true American principles. Florida has proved that it can be done.

"We offer a ray of hope that better days still lie ahead. I am proud of our achievements in this state. I am honored by your support and I look forward to the road ahead. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race and [unintelligible due to crowd noise].

"We’ve accomplished more than anybody thought possible four years ago, but we’ve got so much more to do and I have only begun to fight. God bless you all. Thank you very much. Thank you for a historic landslide victory."

Two more years! Two more years! Two more years!

  1. A generation ago, Floridians were derided as the "hanging chads" .... They fixed their electoral idiocy (hopefully for good) but until the rest of the several states adopt the Florida model for running elections, the democrats will have a lock on the electorate.

  2. Having endorsed a pro-abortion RINO Never Trumper in Colorado in this election, and having been endorsed for 2024 by none other than RINOs Jeb Bush and Paul Ryan, the question on the mind of many conservatives is who will Desantis surrender to?

    3. Until we know the extent of cheating and the failure of the Rs and why they lost, victory is not assured for DeSantis or Trump in 2024. Like I said, it's easy to dump everything on Trump. I am going to wait and see what happens over the next little while. Just because DeSantis has been great in Florida doesn't mean it will translate nationally. Remember Scott Walker?

    5. No, I want a second term for Trump. He was wronged and deserves it. Trump for 4 and then Desantis or Lake for 8. Why would you not want that?

And, I'm not convinced Desantis can win now. Winning big in Florida has not translated to the national stage. Ask Jeb! In 4 years, yes.

    6. Its hilarious that anyone thinks a Republican has a chance to win the presidency in light of all the obvious cheating. VOTE HARDERER!

    8. I'm not dumping on Trump. But there are limits to what he can do. His ceiling is too low, meaning everything has to break correctly, and that is hard to do. In crunch time he could not get his voters in PA to get Oz over the line. All they need to do was vote for him like they voted for Trump.

Trump is owed a debt for shattering the illusion of what DC is. And probably only he could have done that. But different times require different skills, and those skills are not Trump's.

  3. The Red Wave was a red ripple. Instead of blaming vote stealing for the wide spread losses Republicans need to take a hard look at the party leadership. McCarthy and McConnell are not in the same league as DeSantis and need to step aside. Time for a change. As Einstein noted doing the same thing time after time and expecting a different result is insanity.

  4. I admit that I fell for the hype again.
    1. Senate – In 2020 we heard that Collins, Ernst, Graham, Turtle were all in close races or even lose and every one of them won comfortably. This year it is Fetterman, Kelley, Warnock, Hassan, even Bennett & Murray and look at the outcome. Hell, the kabuki bullshit went as far as to include Lee in UT.
    2. House – Media gotta have a storyline to shore up page views and clicks. Forget Citizens Free Press – it’s now a clickbitch. Stick with Ace of Spades.
    3. Guvs – See Senate above.

Americans want “normalcy.” And the normal is D cheating to eek out races that R’s might have a small chance of winning.

USA slouches toward socialist-totalitarian status and praying that someone including DeSantis can block the downward spiral.

  7. 2 more years means nothing without an honest count. I've said this all along. States took measures against ballot harvesting, but, as soon as FL came in, it was obvious the tidal wave was rolling, so the Demos didn't wait for 4 AM. They started stealing right away.

I guess the margin of fraud is now like the margin of victory. 73% of the people think the country is in a bad place, but they all voted Demo?

Get real. If they stole this year, '24 doesn't look good unless something is done quickly. And our peaceable options are becoming less and less.

  17. The deep state has rigged so many elections in so many states its game over. And this election they basically had most every Trump supported candidates lose while Florida was the oasis to make deep state anointed one, Ron DeSantis the final nail in the Trump coffin. They couldn't make it any more obvious what they're doing than what they did in 2020. They fear Trump so this year they took him out.

    1. Trump took himself out. He lost the counted votes in 2020 and has acted like a jackass ever since. He raised millions of dollars and didn't spend that money on his candidates. In Pennsylvania his post January 6 antics encouraged the rise of Doug Mastriano who campaigned as a nutcase and lost in a huge landslide. He endorsed Oz instead of McCormick even though McCormick's wife was a loyal member of his administration, and Oz lost to a far-left stroke patient. DeSantis has nothing to do with Trump's failures, maybe we need a leader who succeeds for a change.

  18. Slowly but surely, clear evidence of voter fraud curbing the expected midterm red wave is seeing the light of day. DeSantis has done a good job and was smart to clean up FL elections. But precipitously dumping Trump in favor of DeSantis as the shiny new GOP savior even before the dust has settled and all the contests have been resolved does seem a tad unbalanced.
Give or take, Trump got approximately 174 picks right; 9 wrong. So off with his head?

  19. Reading these comments, it’s easy to see how divided the party will be in 2024. Whoever the candidate is, he will need to be able to pull in a majority of independents, even moderate Dems and “the party left me” Dems. It sure sounded (from the polls) like the Republicans had this election in the bag. I was always skeptical, mostly because of the FB comments and tweets I saw defending Biden and the administration. Even so, I chalked that up to libs/leftists being more vocal and more active on social media. The Dems have successfully created a “gimme” populous country, and that segment of the country is always going to vote for more of the same. Even those who think beyond their own selfish interests in some areas don’t want to face the hard truths about the sacrifices that must be made to save this country. I’m glad I’m old.

  20. Every day I thank God that even if I have to live in Joe Vegetable's America I can still live in Ron DeSantis' Florida, and proudly cast a straight GOP ballot here yesterday.

A word of caution, however, to prospective newcomers to paradise: it's not the affordable retreat it was not even a few years ago. We came here in 2017 and bought our house for $165K. Today it's worth over $300K and we couldn't afford it (especially at doubled mortgage rates). And that's before paying home insurance premiums that have doubled in that period and are expected to rise yet another 20-25% this year.

So y'all come on down if you can afford it, and don't vote Blue.

  21. Unfortunately for DeSantis, voters can the smell Paul Ryan and the unprincipled Bush! globalists starting to surround him. Talk about a republican voter repellant.

Eventually the corporate donors and The Reagan Library will come calling for their favors. Favors that won't help the voters that put him in office. That's when we'll see if DeSantis has what it takes or if he caves to global corporate interests like all the other candidates selected by RNC party elders since the Read my lips, no new taxes! / New World Order / NAFTA / Giant Sucking Sound of HW Bush & Company.
