I was in a bubble this year. Tuesday's election busted it.
Hope is the thing with feathers. We were plucked.
We can talk about cheating and the fix being in and mail-in votes. We can go on and on about the deep state and the media. We can spend months in denial but the fact is, Americans do not want Donald John Trump to be their president.
He did not save the Republican Party. He spent it.
Ira Stoll was cold in his assessment of the election.
He wrote, "Donald Trump is a drag in a general election in purple states.
"In Georgia, Republican Governor Brian Kemp, who Trump doesn't like, won about 53% of the vote, while Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker, who Trump likes, was at 48% or 49% of the vote. Likewise, in New Hampshire, Governor Chris Sununu, who has distanced himself from Trump, won with about 57% of the vote, while Republican Senate candidate Dan Bolduc, a Trump fan, attracted only about 44% of the vote. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the Republican success story of the night, won reelection with roughly 59% of the vote despite being denounced by Trump as Ron De Sanctimonious.
"There are some outliers—J.D. Vance won the Ohio Senate race despite being allied with Trump—but overall, it was not a good night for Trump. Perhaps this realization will make Republican primary voters think twice before choosing Trump-allied candidates, or Trump himself, in primaries in 2024."
The truth is not a warm puppy. It often is a snowman standing on a glacier. This is one of those times.
Governors Kemp, Sununu and DeSantis showed how Tuesday would have gone for Republicans without Trump. Republicans needed to gain 5 House seats. DeSantis delivered 4.
Dr. Oz showed how it went with Trump. That's how poisonous he has become in purple America. We, his fans, see the good in him and the evil in his enemies. But the majority doesn't and never will. It is a sale that cannot be made. There will be no second term from The Donald.
It breaks my heart to see this. I wrote three books on the man. Looking for someone else -- likely DeSantis -- will cost me readers. As I said about the covid vaccine, you do you.
But Trump failed. He cost America the red tsunami we need to rein in Democrats.
Harris Rigby at Not the Bee wrote, "A red wave turned into a purple puddle, thanks to an orange man."
I really wanted Trump to come back but I just don't see it. He's damaged goods, done in by Barack Obama and the FBI and the Washington media. Chuck Schumer warned Trump on TV two weeks before his inauguration, "You take on the intelligence community? They have six ways from Sunday of getting back at you."
That is evil. That is unfair. That is the world we live in, for like Sarah Palin, our enemies turned Trump into an albatross. He came so close to bringing Washington down that they now will destroy him, ruin his children and salt his fields because he threatened them. He came ever so close.
Palin's comeback in Alaska was doomed from the start. All she did was flip that state's congressional seat blue. Nick Begich, the other Republican in the race, would have defeated the Democrat but Palin wanted to be Teddy Roosevelt. Excuse me, but TR turned the White House over to Wilson and we wound up with the Federal Reserve and World War I.
Thanks a pantsload.
You learn from history. United we stand. Divided we wind up with a Democrat president and Congress.
Everyone makes mistakes. I made one this year. You can either learn from your mistakes or you can keep making the same mistake over and over again.
Other bloggers will tell you what you want to hear. I will tell you what you need to know. I was disappointed last night and thought it was a cheat. I woke up this morning and realized I was wrong.
The good news is Trump softened the field.
The better news is Florida is now redder than any state, including West Virginia.

You may think so... but DeSantis will not appeal to latinos like Trump does. So that makes AZ and Nevada very difficult to impossible.ReplyDelete
Randy says: That’s an OnlyTrump misconception. “Only Trump can win Latinos.” “Only Trump can save America.” Etc.Delete
The fact is that Ron DeSantis got more than 50% of the Latino vote statewide. He won Osceola County, home to a huge Puerto Rican population, by 7 points; Trump lost Osceola by double digits in 2020. DeSantis won Miami-Dade County by 11 points; Trump lost by 30% there in 2020. And DeSantis won deep blue Palm Beach County by 3 points. So if you keep telling yourself that “Only Trump” can win, you’ll be wrong.
I agree that DeSantis can win over Latino/Hispanic votes.Delete
However, can DeSantis win over the Hispanic votes in say Arizona or Nevada? They are not the same type of Hispanic voters as Florida.
See Miami-Dade LatinosDelete
In Georgia, 25,000 FEWER people voted in the Senate Race than in the Governor’s race. Additionally about 60,000 MORE people voted for the Libertarian Senate candidate than for the Libertarian Governor candidate. That looks like about 85,000 people found neither Walker nor Warnock acceptable.Delete
You folks remind me of rats leaving a sinking ship ; don't be so quick to jump off the wagon . What we are trying to accomplish is put the better of two choices in a position to improve our society . Things don't always turn out like plan or hope . Quitting is not an option; never give up hope . We still have work to do.Delete

My family(including 4- Gen Z's) or I will never vote for a RINO/GOPe again. It's just like voting for a democrat. We all voted for DeSantis and republican down the ticket. However, DeSantis is not MAGA and is being groomed by these RINO Old-Money, Country-club corporatists...If he ever wins a national election, he will be under their thumb and beholden to them...What happens to our family needs? wants? Maybe, a worst-case scenario are bigger crumbs from these RINOs? I know many friends/colleagues that are not onboard with RINO/GOPe leaders calling the shots...America(Firs) Hispanics for MAGA & Trump 2024!Delete
Spot on. Trump did not lose this. Mitch McConnell has been losing GOP Senate seats long before there was a President Trump. Turtle always manages to say or do something that snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. And this time he had lots of help including Ronna McDaniel who said Republicans would reach across the aisle (so why elect Republicans if they are going to just give the CommieCrats what they want, Ronna? she also said the RNC would not help pay Trump’s legal bills. Maybe so but saying that right before a critical election is stupid on steroids. Beyond that, although I agree 100% with overturning Roe v Wade, the timing could not have been worse..... Unmarried women voted for Dems by huge margins...Delete
McConnell spent $60 million on PA to push Trump’s disastrous candidate Oz. A brain dead meat puppet beat him by a couple hundred thousand votes. So tell me it wasn’t Trump, it was McConnell. I’ve been an ardent Trump fan for years, and mostly a McConnell deep skeptic. But this was what it was.Delete
They elected a dead guy in Pennsylvania. Either they're complete idiots there, or the fix was in and there was no way to stop it in time.Delete

The fix was in.
Apparently he didn't notice that he's largely comparing reelection of incumbents to shortfall of challengers and claiming that regard of Trump is the independent variable. On a more positive note, Surber might not experience a great deal more loss of readers than he deserves.Delete
This is inane. So far Trump is 216 and 11 on endorsements. Either way endorsements are over rated and hyped. They work best to bring the low information voter around. Informed voters don't care about endorsements. Trump endorsed the candidates who informed voters voted for. This dump Trump movement is a contrivance that won't work.Delete

Who do you think turned Miami-Dade red? Most assuredly it wasn't Trump, although he started the Hispanic county's rightward movement, it was DeSantis' leadership as governor and of the FL GOP that finished the job.Delete
We have to come to some sort of truce with the establishment GOP or we'll end up in the permanent minority nationally. Our candidates were starved for money because the establishment donors

Trump has a record of of around 170 wins and only 9 loses yet they want to throw him under the bus. RHINO's like Mitch refused to put money toward many good candidates and used the cash to support old line losers like Murkowski. The big problem for the Republicans is an internal fight of the old guard clinging to power VS the up and comers represented by Trump and MAGA. When Trump was first elected prez the Republicans held Congress and Mitch and crew refused to support much of Trumps agenda.Delete
Let's not forget the Dems have perfected the election art of the steal.
Ah yes the DeSantis play they love to steal stuff from “places” strategically placed bait…they sure made sure he was CORINATED KING while they middle finger stole everything they green lit. They made it too obvious though but you know how worthless they really are. Kari Lake 2028!Delete
Donald Trump should pledge to serve only one term as the 47th POTUS, then he will make way for younger conservatives...voila! problem solved!ReplyDelete
Randy says: I think you forgot the /sarc tag. Trump cannot serve more than one more term, by constitutional law.Delete
That's not true. You cannot serve 2 consecutive terms.Delete
Are you for real? You can only serve TWO full four year terms as president, plus no more than two years if you're vice president and the president dies of resigns. Ten years max.Delete

Not sure, Don. It's easy to pile on the day after.ReplyDelete
I had the same thought LuAnn. After “being in a bubble” for the last year, you wake up and suddenly realize you were wrong all the time. I dunnoDelete
Maybe just maybe, it won't matter who is leading the Rebpulicans. They just aren't going to win, for now.ReplyDelete
That is a real possibility, LuAnn. To be sure there was cheating. You don’t have a state vote for a brain damaged man for Senator without voter fraud.Delete
Trouble is the Dems have installed their “cheat machine” a la Chicago in so many other metro areas and learned to operate mostly without detection.
It is heartbreaking to realize our Republic is lost. No way to vote ourselves out of this mess.
I blame Libertarians for siphoning off votes from Republicans that led to Herschel Walker and Warnock in a runoff. Walker has no chance. The ballots for Warnock are already being printed, filled out, and ready for the mail drop.
More states need to do like Florida did, no mail in ballots, no same day registration, photo ID. It doesn't close all the holes, but it sure plugs a few of them and makes it more difficult to cheat.Delete
Well argued. I’ve been around since the beginning and am with you on Trump.ReplyDelete
I feel if DeSantis and Trump can patch things up and unif the party they'll have a better base it was the Hispanic vote that was amazing in Florida. We are not dead yet.2DCReplyDelete
Oz was a poor candidate.ReplyDelete
People didn't trust him. Too foreign. Uncle Fester will be the disaster that keeps on giving.
Just won't he. Disgusting.Delete
Randy says: Oz was a poor candidate when Trump endorsed him. Nothing’s changed.Delete
Oz was a poor candidate?!?!? Compared to the rock solid Fetterman??? He's brain dead! Fuck PA and fuck the vote fraud in this country.Delete
Um, he may have been flawed otherwise, but he was born in Cleveland. If David McCormick had eked out a couple hundred more votes in the GOP primary, he'd be claiming the PA senate seat today.Delete
Randy says: Compared to Kathy Barnett, the other Republican in the Pennsylvania primary that Trump could have endorsed. But of course, Oz is a TV personality like Trump, so he gets the nod. Remember, it’s all about what’s good for Trump, not what’s good for the party or the nation.Delete
Addams-family-stew (Lurch-Fester-Thing & a little Morticia) can do less damage as a vote in hamstrung Senate than modeling for carhart or whatever he's been doing...?Delete
It may or may not be constructive, but while I too, am a realist, I don't see Trump as the problem. I think 2/3's of the attacks on Trump, would have happened to any other Republican. Trump's not the savior; he's not the villain, he (as he himself has said) was just in the way.ReplyDelete
I see "reality" as stolen elections, which since 2020 was decisively proven through the efforts of scores of patriots. I can trace those stolen elections, i.e. the same tactics and results, back to 2018, 2016 (Hillary was assured the fix was in, but Trump's voters overwhelmed their fraud plans), 2012, and even as far back as 2010 (if you factor in what Obama's IRS did to the "Tea Party" movement). The GOP did very little substantively, in my opinion, to change things since 2020. Indeed, with the government closely held by the Democrats and Biden fully willing to deploy the Federal police services and even armed forces, in a partisan to further the Democrat's steal machine, and punish his enemies, the GOP-e could do little even if they wanted too. And, McConnell and McCarthy, and the senior GOP Senators and House leadership, definitely DID NOT want to be involved in anyway that could be construed with "insurrection 2.0" by the Democrats and their national media.
DeSantis may be a strong leader, may be a nice guy good as gold, but if you think he'll have a different fate than Trump, you're still, living in a world of hope over reality. The enemy does not rest. The enemy does not quit. They aren't brilliant, but they are smart enough to change tactics. And, they are Marxist enough to ruthlessly deploy government police power.
I won't hold your opinions against you Don, but you missed with your aim. You're running from reality, holding Trump accountable, rather than the corrupt, degenerate, anti-American, Constitution and law defying "Uniparty". I'm not a Trumpist, nor a DeSantis supporter. I'm a realist, a Christian conservative and military veteran that KNOWS from history and some personal experience, that elections will never solve the problem of corrupt elections. There is no political way out of a problem created by lawless, illegitimate parties, who are willing to act in defiance of the plain words of the US Constitution.
This election isn't the end of democracy, of Trump, of the populist nationalist movement, or of the GOP. It's the beginning of something else, inevitable and violent, because an armed, free people cannot be dominated by authoritarians, socialists and/or oligarchs. All that's required is the perfect catalyst, to propel everything out of their control.
Well said, Old Salt. I am thinking that you are right.Delete
Quite so sir.Delete
My thoughts are for the Jan 6 folk imprisoned without trial.
The 2020 and now mid term 2022 elections will go down as a historic loss for democracy.
The democrat's have mastered how to keep in office.
DeSantis can have Florida but he'll never take over DSA (Democratic States of America).
Another OLD Salt USN- Agree. But, Don will not lose me as a reader. Maybe after another year he will wake up and remember... There is something else wrong. There is cheating! Who else can get a 50K crowd just before an election that he is not even running in. Joe Biden has trouble drawing flies. We see to accept what the lefties, RINOs and Media do to our people. "Wake up people. We have the President in the room" showed the enthusiasm for Joe Biden. Trump had no help in the Government. When the Dems pick Biden, Harris, and Federman, they clearly don't like the Country. No whining. Keep fighting! Don't reward the communists!Delete
Well said Old Salt!!Delete
Pretty much this. Notice the real upsets came in the same places that managed "miraculous" upsets in 2020. Its amazing how in Florida we stop the early vote fraud by mail, the fraud boxes, the late fraud vote counting and create a fraud police, suddenly a swing state is +20 R. It would be the same nationwide, especially in GA, PA, MI, WI and AZ.Delete
This is outstanding. Spot on.Delete
Don is noting the crumbling of the Republic and when one of the Patriots getting buried under a rock pile, blames him for all the rocks.
Don what do you think Seven Ways to Sunday looks like?
What has happened to President Trump must be exposed and admitted, not for the survival of Trump, but for the survival of the Republic.
Exactly this. Blame for President Trump is misplaced. It’s on us and our worthless state legislators and governors for not fixing the fraud. The Uniparty does not want this fixed. They like the fraud as it keeps them in office.Delete
Great to hear from you again. You are spot on as usual. This election result is a failure of Republicans who did nothing to stop the steal. We the people have the last functioning voting machine our will to resist tyranny and to die for our children's freedom. Thank you for your words and wisdom. Don Surber is dead wrong.Delete
Can’t disagree with anything you’ve said. That being said, I think Ron makes a better candidate because of his ability to articulate the issues. You can’t deny that he has put more conservative principles into law than any other Republican Governor and he has done so with the same screeching media and democratic establishment. The difference to me is that he is calculated and articulate. He has strategic patience and an ability to explain his rationale to voters. The results are clear.Delete
Without Trump the government requiring the consent of the governed mask would not have fallen, American exceptionalism referred to it's structure and philosophy of governance, not it's immunity from the fate of republics if history is any guideReplyDelete
Trump definitely made some mistakes with some of his endorsements. Take Oz, please, just take him.ReplyDelete
However, I'm not sure it's fair to blame him on all the losses of yesterday. Don, we love ya, but you're having a disconnect on the big picture. Trump's poll numbers were well above anyone else's, including DeSantis. The major problem is the election cheating. They found a sneakier way this time and we didn't actually see as much of it.
Republicans may be done, but it's not Trump's fault.
We need to go back to hand counted ballots and have voters stick their thumb in a bottle of ink.
Randy says: “Trump's poll numbers were well above anyone else's, including DeSantis.” Right. And we all know how accurate political polls are.Delete
“The major problem is the election cheating.” I agree with that, especially in Michigan and Arizona (same states as last time). But no amount of “we need to” do this or do that will fix the problem in deep blue states until a R takes the Presidency.
Wondering if Manchin is in play in the Senate as a spoiler after Biden knifed him in the back?ReplyDelete

Sinema maybe too, she's up for reelection in 2024.Delete
And now Trump is threatening to destroy DeSantis with oppo research. I would be fine having Trump as President again, but I agree that he is nearly unelectable at this point. He has (had?) a huge base off very loyal followers. He apparently had almost no one else. Sad.ReplyDelete
Randy says: Yes, Trump threatened DeSantis Monday night, election eve. In a post-rally Fox interview, he said that DeSantis would be making a “mistake” by running in 2024. If DeSantis does decide to run, “I would tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering — I know more about him than anybody — other than, perhaps, his wife,” Trump said. Trump obviously feels entitled to the GOP nomination, the same way Hillary felt entitled to be elected President in 2016.Delete
So now you're just another Never Trump asshole, like George Conway.ReplyDelete
Randy says: People who can assess situations and make informed judgements are not the same as NeverTrump robots. Or OnlyTrump robots, either.Delete
I’ve come to the conclusion that Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is bipolar. The NeverTrump variant cannot see any good in Trump. He has no redeeming qualities. Trump will destroy America. He’s the devil, or Hitler, or Stalin, or some other fill-in-the-blank villain. The OnlyTrump variant cannot see any bad in Trump. He has no flaws. Only Trump can save America. Only Trump can bring peace and prosperity. He’s anointed by God, he’s the chosen one, he’s our saviour, or some other fill-in-the-blank symbol of perfection.
What a sad life for those consumed by TDS, both OnlyTrumpers and NeverTrumpers, whose entire existence is consumed by their love or hate of Donald Trump.
I am not consumed by love nor hate for Donald Trump. When he first got in in '15, I assumed that he was trying to elect Hillary as Perot elected Bill. But he proved to be the real deal.Delete
The Russia Russia cement overshoes were prepared for any elephant other than Jeb!. Peter Strzok was running Maria Butina at all the GOP candidates except Jeb! to give them all Russia connections to exploit later.
And if Butina was under NSA two-hop surveillance, the FBI was spying on all unapproved GOP candidates.
I don't think Trump is perfect. But our oligarchic republic has decayed to the point that only an oligarch can stand up to the other oligarchs.
Desantis is being inflated and "fortified" by the same people who blocked Trumps reelection in 2020--because it will take a strong Republican to block Trump in 2024. But if he elected, he will be owned by them. And that may happen. Our politics are utterly corrupt.
On the bright side, Ron Desantis is not a senile or stroke-addled idiot. The fixers know that they cannot use such to stop Trump amongst Republicans the way they used Biden amongst Democrats to stop Bernie Sanders.
Randy, you're being too harsh in stereotyping anyone pointing out good things about Trump as "OnlyTrumpers" and insulting them as having "sad lives". You're not usually so mean--you really seem to have a bugaboo about Trump at the moment.Delete
But keep this is mind: our country (and maybe the world) is headed for some very dangerous and complex financial troubles. DeSantis really has no background or expertise in finance, and if he were President I fear he would be easily manipulated to take steps that would actually make things worse and harm America.
In the coming financial crisis, I would much rather have Trump at the helm--head of his class at Wharton; highly experienced and successful billionaire businessman for decades, including savvy international business experience; a man who "wrote the book" on the Art of the Deal; a man who held a national masterclass in meritocratic capitalism through his show " The Apprentice"; and above all, "a very stable genius"!
I think Trump was born to help this country, and he still has a H-U-G-E amount to give. What I'd love best is to see Trump and DeSantis genuinely bond into a superb team--the "Dynamic Duo"! Trump especially has borne the brunt of massive hatred directed at him. How strengthening it could be for both men to partner up. What a gift that would be to America. It's not Trump's usual style, but there could be some real benefits in truly joining forces.
He always was if you read between the lines.Delete
Trump and Elon Musk are neither R nor D.ReplyDelete
They are members of the Opportunist Party.
Trump's ego wants to be CEO of the World, and Pres of the USA is closest to that outcome. Trump loves the country, but an ego of Trump's size must be fed first always.
Without Trump there wouldn’t be DeSantisDelete
There are several things goin on here, I can’t really sort it all out. First, most people I know say they love Trump’s policies and they way he governed, but don’t want him to run again, as he has just too much baggage. As Don says, it’s not fair, he was attacked by a bipartisan coalition of the deep state because he threatened them. Next, DeSantis may or may not be able/willing to take on the deep state. Sundance has certainly tagged him as being owned by the establishment. Of course we have democrat vote cheating too, but we also have an under-30 generation that is a product of government school indoctrination. Don is not a never Trumper, neither am I. I’d say we’re both we-wish-it-could-be-Trump-but-it-won’t-happen. DeSantis is probably better than most RINOs, but the ruling class will allow him (or anyone else) to win only if he agrees to be one of them. We had a chance with Trump to make a course correction, but the powers of evil won, and they will never allow themselves to be threatened like that again. The USA will never be what it was. I don’t know what it will become, I suppose we will muddle along for a while. I’m glad I’m in my 60s, but I weep for my grandkids.ReplyDelete
Randy says: “we-wish-it-could-be-Trump-but-it-won’t-happen.” Hear! Hear!Delete
Thank you Don. All the politicians are supposed to work for us, and I want to see an effective promotion of a great America agenda. Sadly, Trump now is working for himself and not his loyal supporters. He accomplished many great things, but he also failed where it could have been otherwise. The pandemic response, bad personnel decisions, the border, failing to outsmart his foes and allowing the 2020 defeat to happen.ReplyDelete
Not everybody feels as strongly about the agenda as I do and many of his most fervent fans do, so to win he must persuade the persuadable. Instead he irritates them, whether rightly or wrongly, their response is a fact, and they vote too. The American people and our system and way of life needs defending in a way Trump is unable to do any longer. If we truly love America we must recognize this reality, and not sacrifice the best available outcomes for our most fervently wished but unattainable outcomes.
The 37 States guy got it wrong again. LOLReplyDelete
So Don is now part of the DNC/Media/Rino Party conspiracy to get rid of Trump, arguably the best president we’ve ever had. Shame on you.ReplyDelete

But you're stupid.
The 2020 steal wasn't fixed, it was improved upon. And half the GOP basically helped out - either by covering for it or empowering it. So strong is their hatred of Orange.
DeSantis is not the answer like your gone-wobbly dream holds. If Trump graciously backs down, throws his weight behind him, and campaigns vigorously DeSantis will still lose.
Because the cheating works. There isn't another GOP president unless he's wholly owned before hand. No more mail-in ballots, no more early voting, no more same day registration.
One voter, one vote, one day. Anything less than that is helping the Dems and their new Jim Crow.
Quite so sir.Delete
The Dems & Deep staters have perfected the art of election cheating.
Never again can there be a true Republican POTUS with the current USA voting system
You are SO right!Delete
Well, lets examine this a bit. Are the political class threatened by Trump and what he represents? Yes.Delete
Did Trump expose them for what they are? Yes. Has he demonstrated the skill to not create needless enemies through bombastic statements and little digs? No.
He still has not. As such, his ability to build the coalition necessary to thwart the dems is limited. How did DeSantis turn Florida red? How did he get a squish legislature to embrace the MAGA agenda? It wasn't by ridicule. He focused on the most important enemies and stayed laser focused on it - Disney, wokeism, stupid Covid rules, and the missteps of the Biden administration. He worked to tighten up election integrity, and viola, red state. Not purple. Red.
Trump could not get his voters to vote for his PA senatorial candidate. Trump got us Fetterman. It pains me to say it, but he did. He made an enemy of Kemp over covid and can't win in Georgia. Kemp won in a landslide. Walker is facing a runoff. And we are praying that Lake can overcome the venom of the McCain machine in Maricopa. A machine that Trump directly attacked without a plan to defeat it.
He has a certain skill set, but he has brought us as far as he can. At a certain point you need to acknowledge that a different set of skills will be necessary to keep up the good fight.
And I would note - Oz defeated the cheating in Philly. He lost in western PA. In Trump country. Yes, he wasn't the greatest candidate, but he had the ability to navigate the cheat that could still occur, and it was much smaller than in 2020.Delete
Trump couldn't deliver his own voters. Thank about that.

As Kari Lake has been a big endorsement by Donald Trump… if she wins (and the slate) kind of defeats your narrative doesn’t it?
No, it suggests it never should have been this hard. Lake is an amazing talent. But picking a personal fight against McCain cost us a repeal of ObamaCare and Arizona in 2020. The remnants of his machine is doing everything in their power to stop her. Earlier, Masters was actually outperforming her.Delete
Trump has a ceiling. We need to acknowledge that.

Its not just the "Left's attempt to frame" Trump. The RINOs are fully onboard with squashing MAGA just like they did with the Tea Party. Nothing makes them happier than when people like Don just give up and vote for whoever they tell us we have to vote for.Delete
A fresh breath of air is what many here need right now.Delete
As conservatives, we operate according to our strong values. We don't believe in cheating, lying, stealing, or treating others unfairly. I look at it like a football analogy. If Republicans were an NFL team, the opposing tean, the refs, the media, stadium staff and fans from BOTH teams would be working against us. We can choose to lose honorably by standing by our principles, or we can choose to fight and survive by exploring which principles might need to be relaxed in order to give ourselves a fighting chance.ReplyDelete
It's not honorable to try to deceive voters or trick them into voting for us. It's not fair to turn against Trump for all that he did for the country. This is not an NFL football game, it's all the marbles. If the voters are dumb, then trick them. If Trump gets less votes in the 2024 primary, too bad.
Why do we need to keep anyone like DeSantis from competing in the primary? Let them all compete and see who wins. I hate hearing Trump implying that if DeSantis challenges him in the primary that means he is a traitor! Everyone has a right to throw their hat in the ring.
95% of Trump-endorsed candidates won. Oz is trailing the Indescribable Hulk by about 1% and has refused to concede (good for him) and that's true for several others.
You've pushed this line before and there's nothing behind it. Beyond Trump, yes, DeSantis is the future of the Republican party, although that future is looking more like that of 1860, but, right now, Trump/DeSantis seems the best move.
Randy says: “95% of Trump-endorsed candidates won” Yeah, they won their primary. That’s because Republicans are all-in for Trump’s picks. The independents, not so much, and they get to vote in the general election.Delete
And you can drop the FUD, Jeffrey, because Oz conceded to Fetterman this morning.
Before you pile on President Trump, you should read this:ReplyDelete
"Big Picture, 2022 Midterm Elections Highlight the Distinct Difference Between Ballots and Votes"
Kitty, the article you mentioend makes a prescient point.Delete
The GOP needs to copy the Dems on this.
As I posted on the other topic today; the fraud is rampant in the US and the same MO used in Venezuela, Brazil, Columbia etc. etc... They told us what they were going to do in 2020, did it and then told us to fuck off if we questioned it. Why in the world would we think they wouldn't do it again.ReplyDelete
And it isn't JUST the democrats. The GA governor and SOS are beneficiaries of the vote fraud. That was evident in the primary polls vs. result. And there was PROVEN Dominion fraud that was overturned in a democrat primary this past year and we are to believe that was isolated?!?!
The deep state in total FUCK YOU fashion rigged MOST trump supported candidates to lose AND they made FL look like DeSantis is unstoppable. Mission accomplished. They rigged election, made trump look bad and have pitted Republicans against each other.
Until we fess up to this fact, and deal with it, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.
Agree with some of your points. Abrams in GA, Crist in FL and Beto in TX were expendable gimme sacrifices to use as cover.Delete
Seems like GOPe+NeverTrumpers+RINOs have already settled on DeSantis, and it's just possible that he is one of them too.
I respect Sundance as much as our Donfather here... his antenna is up big time about DeSantis. As a Florida resident he's been 100% spot on. But wouldn't be 1st time a pol disappointed meDelete

I'm mostly in agreement Don. I had some reservations of Trump in 2016. But I support his policies and I am for stopping the Establishment uniparty.ReplyDelete
I didn't think the 2020 was valid. It was full of irregularities. But there was no judicial relief available.
I see how the Democrats are destroying this country with their liberal policies. I am afraid that we won't have the country I know unless they are stopped.
I thought that Trump would be best way to do this. So I voted for Trump, not because I like Trump but because I love America.
I now see that Trump has been an hinderance to this cause. Why do I say that? Because of these issues:
1) Trump is a polarizing figure. He widened the appeal of the GOP party to be more downscale. But he's driving away the white, surburban women voters in purple areas.
2) He raised over $100M in this election cycle. He donated about $10M to his endorsed candidates, even though they were lacking any funds. Why didn't he help them out financially?
McConnell was leery of funding these Trump-endorsed MAGA candidates. He didn't fund these candidates at first. But then he reversed course and funded them at the last minute.
McConnell, an Establishment leader, ended up funding the Trump-endorsed MAGA candidates more than Trump himself.
Trump will give endorsements freely and hold a rally but he won't donate money to them.
That's pretty much all you need to know.
3) I understand the resistance that Trump has to mail in ballots. I think it's ripe for fraud. However, there's been 2 elections where the Dems have perfected this and used it to their advantage.
Trump is obstinately against it when he should stop complaining about it and start using it. Cheat like the Dems cheat...to win.
4) This is going to be a signal of how Trump thinks. Does he think only of himself? Or does he put the interests of the country over his own interests?
He's been talking about making an announcement on Nov 15th. It's when he will announce his 2nd run for president.
He wants to be back in the spotlight. But does he need to do this now? The next important event is the GA Senate runoff.
If he is putting the interest of the country ahead of his interests, he will put off making any announcements for his next run until after the GA Senate runoff is done. It will not help Walker and it might hurt him.
But if he announces his 2nd POTUS run on Nov 15th as expected, then I know that he's only thinking about himself.
If it's a choice between Trump and Biden (or Trump and Hillary), I'm voting for Trump. But I would like to see another candidate who can win and stop the Dems from continuing to destroy my country.
I've never been someone who supported Trump because of any personal affinity to him. I support Trump, not because I like Trump but because I love America.
Maybe it's time for another candidate to lead the Trumpism movement.
"But there was no judicial relief available."Delete
That's because the judges are corrupt and refuse to do their job.

Anyway, when you get your perspective back, you will see all the good that has been done, all the progress that has been made in waking people up and bringing the real situation with the country to light. Look at all thats happened! Republican turnout was ENORMOUS--leaders do matter, but the American right is VIGOROUSLY ENGAGED AND COMMITTED.
Blacks are waking up and voted Republican in historic numbers. Hispanics too. Women too. Young people too. Heck, the red-pilling process is expanding at a great pace, and that won't be stopping anytime soon, but will only accelerate as Dems continue to trash the country.
Trump is still our MOST POWERFUL WEAPON-- and it is clear the Trump's genuine love for America, not his ego, is the chief force driving him. He is still going to be President again in 2024, because this war is far from lost even though the EVIL and treasonous election tampering of the Left 'appears' to be pulling off a 'victory' in several of the contested races.
Your argument that the Left's demonization of Trump has made Trump an irredeemable liability makes no sense. You KNOW that ANYONE that assumes the leadership role in our fight for freedom is going to be similarly demonized. So we don't throw our champion to the lions because of what THE LIONS did to him! It is Trump that is helping to red-pill the population and the new people being attracted to America First know that Trump is the most courageous and unstoppable leader we have.
Don't be a victim of the "discouragement psyops". We made a good showing in these midterms, even tho we were SO hoping to do even better. But that was yesterday's battle-- Now, everyone put your armor back on and get back into the battle. We ARE gaining traction, and we will succeed. Fight for election integrity in each still unresolved race from last night, keep up the public outcry, start the heavy and unified pressure campaign to replace McConnell and McCarthy, keep up the fantastic news coverage and commentary thru such fine sources as this Don Surber blog and CitizenFreePress, just KEEP going full press. This was just one battle, the war itself is turning in our favor.
Thank you TeaPartyGal !Delete

Exactly, the only swing state to fix the voting system was Florida. It goes total red. It's right out in your face. Fetterman and lump couldn't even talk and they win. Get real.Delete
You're right. I came to the same conclusion, pretty much along the same pathway. Donald J. Trump was a great president. He was on track to be an all-time great until he got sidetracked by COVID, and, probably, even with the COVID debacle he still is an all-time great given the whole "peace and prosperity" thing. But Trump is a disrupter. He disrupted things that needed to be disrupted. But disrupters are exhausting. Trump has made a major contribution to this country, but it's time to turn over the reins to someone younger and fresher. Perhaps the governor of that state where the Red Wave(TM) really did crest as a tsunami, perhaps someone else. Looking at what's happened in PA, MI, and WI, and, perhaps AZ, there would be no pathway to 270 electoral votes for a Trump presidential campaign. I'm not arguing that he wasn't a great president. I'm not arguing that he would not be an even greater president were he to be elected in 2024. But his moment has passed. It's time to move on dot org, as they say.ReplyDelete
I am so sorry that you were exhausted by the best modern president, HANDS DOWN. Soft Republicans is why we are where we are.Delete
Trump’s endorsements won 174-9 last night. If that’s failure to you then your standards must include perfection. I enjoy reading your perspectives but honestly, this is dumbest one I’ve ever read. Clearly fraud prevented any real red wave but if you want to pin it on Trump, despite the cold hard mathematical facts, then you do you while I prefer to use logic and thought before I offer an opinion. Until the fraud is fixed, DeSantis won’t even be able to beat Fetterman in 2024.ReplyDelete
They had a brain dead Biden hide in a basement because they knew fix was in.Delete
They nominated a brain dead senator who can't string two sentences together against a world famous surgeon because they knew fix was in
The democrat nominee for governor in AZ hid and when she did open her mouth she sounded as stupid as fetterman because the fix was in. No way in hell the dynamic Kari Lake loses a fair election there unless fix was in

Himself on Truth Social and RSBN network, to name a few. Perhaps you should read things on the Internet beside “Life According to Don.”
Yes, the brain dead PA dem won because the dems will vote for anyone with a D besides their name and Trump's voters in Western PA would not. The steal in PA was smaller than the steal in 2020. Did Trump do anything to help Mastriano who got cut off by the RGA for backing calls for an investigation into 2020, one of his biggest supporters? Nope. And with that derailed a great chance to try and fix voting in PA.Delete
Did he do anything to really get his voters in PA to go for Oz, who they didn't really like?
I'm sorry, I can respect what Trump did for us. WHat he did for America. And I can also acknowledge that he has failed to demonstrate what will be necessary to take the next leap. Sometimes a sports team needs a certain type of manager at one point in their evolution, but need something else as they mature. It's a realization that something needs to change. Can Trump change? No evidence yet. His Monday evening comments demonstrated that.
DeSantis' communication team is far superior to anyone Trump has gone up against. You'll notice DeSantis has really said nothing about the slight. He refused to engage. But when Trump gets way out over his skiis, the return fire will come.
I'll vote for whichever GOP candidate comes out of the primary. I hope Trump voters won't forget what happened in Western PA yesterday, when they couldn't see the bigger picture. If DeSantis goes into Georgia and convinces Kemp to help Walker, for this favor or that, Trump will have to show he can keep his mouth shut. I'm looking for some reason to grab any evidence that Trump has the ability to do more to get us over the dem cheat machine.
Randy says: Yes, it will be interesting to see what Trump does for (or against) the Georgia runoff. Last time, in 2021, Trump got in a snit because Georgia stole the election from him, so he sent his lawyer to urge Trump supporters to sit home for the runoff, which they did in large numbers. The direct reason we had a D Senate for the last 2 years is that Trump handed it to them in Georgia. Now there’s another Senate runoff in Georgia. I guess we’ll see if Trump hands Ds control of the the Senate for another 2 years.Delete
Look at the breakdown of the POC vote . They voted in the dems. They always will. Food stamps , phone, and other too many to mention. We will never win another election.ReplyDelete
It’s not the policies with Trump. They don’t give a flipping flu flu about his policies.
IT IS THE CORRUPTION!
Is De Santis going to drain the swamp that is stealing our kids’ future and your taxes? No. It’s not necessarily that I love Trump, although I do for what he has done for this country, but it is because he has stood up and taken the bullets for Don Surber, Randy, etc., that we couldn’t take. He gave up a big part of his fortune, took no salary, and served his country by exposing the massive corruption amongst our so-called civil servants.
No. We should shove Donald Trump right down their maggot infested throats.
Let's look at the situation from the point of who is being reasonable and who is not. Don S. is simply saying he is making a different choice of who to support. That is reasonable. Don T. is attempting to rig the 2024 primary by claiming to have power over who can and cannot challenge him in the Republican primary. That is unreasonable.ReplyDelete
Listen carefully to Trump and see what I mean. He doesn't want to have to compete for our vote. He wants a coronation.
He shouldn't have to compete for our vote, he's already earned it exponentially.Delete
Randy says: That’s just what Hillary said in 2016.Delete
Speaking on behalf of Florida, we trashed them here because of our election laws that were enacted between 2020 and now. Arizona had a proposition on the ballot for increased voter ID, and the last I looked it was voted down. The fact is that when you continue to allow ballot fraud you get it. Odd, no? The other plain fact is that Washington DC, and the administrative state, is completely unserviceable at this point. It's a part of the "Cancer" as Sara Hoyt wrote. The sooner you embrace extreme federalism, as we do down here, the better off you will be.ReplyDelete

I agree with you 100%. The Trump era is over. Red Eagle Politics on YouTube is a caution by the way. It’s a mistake to lay this on Trump, whatever you think of him. The complacency (or complicity) of Ronna McDaniel/Mitch McConnell/Kevin McCarthy played a much bigger role in this cycle than Trump. “Trump can’t win in purple states?” He did in 2016. And then EXPANDED those margins in 2020, until a bunch of mail ballots dropped in the wee hours, a new development in federal elections. And that’s what’s at the root of this. By Hook or by crook, the Democrats have figured out how to put ballots in the hands of their low information, low propensity voters, and then collect them in the WEEKS leading up to the election. I can’t say Trump is the way forward. At this point, I don’t have a dog in the 2024 fight. But BLAMING Trump for any of this is just a terribly misinformed take.ReplyDelete
I still like Don, and I still like Don.ReplyDelete
The root cause of the underwhelming performance of Republicans in some states (like PA) is mail-in voting.ReplyDelete
Mail-in voting allows "stoners and slackers" to vote. Back in the day, they reliably voted D but were unreliable voters. Hard to get off the futon when you are stoned and/or watching stupid reality TV shows. Mail-in voting allows them to vote without getting off the futon (Mom can walk it to the drop box). Now, the S/S are reliable D's who vote reliably. COVID did that, with a huge assist from politicians from both sides (in PA, the Republican majority legislature adopted mail-in voting before the 2020 election). Unless and until mail-in voting is abolished (only absentee allowed for military and a couple other relevant exceptions), we will never get out of this mess.

In regards to Trump/DeSantis, a decent litmus test is to ask yourself this: Does Trump care about the Republican party close to what he cares about himself? Same question for DeSantis and whichever one you believe cares more about the party is the one that seems like the better candidate. I will say this: Trump was making fun of Republicans three days before the election. You folks who chose to ignore that are part of the problem and not part of the solution.ReplyDelete
Trump and DeSantis each did more for the party than anyone since NewtDelete

Trump can pull in republicans + democrats + disaffected + never-voted + oddballs. DeSantis can pull in republicans. DeS would get buried in a national election.ReplyDelete
I'm with the folks who believe that it was McConnell's and the uni-party RINO's fault for a showing that should have been better. McConnell made no effort to make the election about Biden and the Dems who have made great strides in destroying our middle class, our military, our foreign policy, our border, our schools and our economy. That portion of GOP leadership failed America and Americans again - just like they did during POTUS Trump's 4 years of service to our country. They helped to ensure that he is stained as impure - by the slum lords of the swamp and deep state. This "30 pieces of silver" group has helped to destroy America and American citizens lives.ReplyDelete
Trump 2024, no one else. Desantis voted for the TPP in Congress, is another Ivy League/JAG conservative phony. He's cozying up with Paul Ryan and Jeb Bush, I'm not going back to Bush GOP, no thanks, no uni-party lightweights for me for the rest of my life.ReplyDelete

Sleep on it a while longer Don, and perhaps it will clear your head. Trump wasn't on the ballot. A mixed bag of Republican candidates were. Clearly turnout was suppressed. Still, we're going to take the House, and grind Biden's agenda to a halt. The fundamental problem is and always has been that the Republican establishment is barely discernible from the Democrat establishment. The MAGA movement - TRUMP - woke you (all of us) up to that fact, did it not? Or were you not serious when you wrote about the Harlem Globetrotters vs the "Never Trump" (Weekly Standard / National Review) crowd? The RNC refuses to turn out the vote for hard-right conservatives, unless neglecting to do so will threaten their power. The way forward is to fight harder. If we go back to "the middle", we'll just going further to the left, like we've been doing for the past 50 years.ReplyDelete
Don, you are losing your way. It does no good to elect people who are not fighters. By your logic, we should elect more Jeff Flakes and Mitt Romneys! It’s not just winning, we’ve done that off and on for decades.ReplyDelete
Resisting globalism is not something most politicians are able to do. Trump is tried and true, we need him now more than ever!!
Blame goes to weak Republican leadership. We need more MAGA republicans in places of power, so McConnel and McCarthy are not effective. They are the reason we did not get the wave, Trump is brining us great candidates who will make a difference. Just having an R next to your name means Nothing.
Look at Murkowski she actively campaigned against Republicans. Clearly you are just getting ready to sell another book.
Shame on you!
Don has finally shown his RINO colors....he was never MAGA....just pretended to be.Delete
One other comment: see this article https://www.texastribune.org/2022/11/08/beto-orourke-texas/ What do the Dems do when their ridiculous candidates fail? They run them again. And again. And again. Building that base. Driving home that name recognition. And when a weak Republican candidate emerges in TX (who comes after Abbot?), that's when they'll pounce. The problem with "real" conservatives in general is that, like the man who authored this article, they're disinterested in power. They just want to be free. So they give up easily when it comes to politics, because it takes a lot of narcissism and ambition to succeed in politics. Now let me ask you - which Republican candidate is ambitious and narcissistic? Name the first one who comes to mind. ;) Trump will win in 2024.ReplyDelete
Rats who leave sinking ships have a chance to survive. Rare s who stay aboard are destined for shark bait or crab lunch.ReplyDelete
No candidate will ever be able to stand up to “The Swamp” like Trump has. You know why? Answer is very simple, Trump has the money himself to fight them and is beholden to no one. You can’t say that about Most other candidates. Their donors own them.ReplyDelete

People better start worrying about deploying their life rafts & figuring out where they're going to sail them instead of wasting anymore time pursuing political solutions. The damage is done, no one can prevent the consequences now, even if we get an America first candidate in every office across the land, which we won't. It's imperative that right thinking individuals survive the global socioeconomic collapse & meet up again on the other side to pick up the pieces. There's not likely to be many democrats or social justice warriors there to contend with anymore, so there's that.ReplyDelete
I like the things Trump believes and does, but he is also his own worst enemy at times. Style isn't everything. Obama had style. But it's not nothing either. It's not like we can just ignore his weaknesses, which are substantial. If he stays in the game he will be a drag, as this election demonstrates.ReplyDelete

Can people seriously not see how the red wave was pumped up by the media so they could then claim anything less showed how people don’t like Republicans or then can blame Trump and weaken him?ReplyDelete
Now suddenly I’m hearing complaints that Trump didn’t spend any money on candidates. What about McConnell and McCarthy? The Turtle wasted money on Alaska by backing Murkowski and pulled money from other candidates, saying Trump should support them. Who does that but a deliberate saboteur?
Ron DeSantis is a nice guy and patriot, but he’s owned by his donors. And they’re mainly big money donors, not the little everyday guy.
True! DeSantis is owned by big money and will never be a fighter for the little guy. Surprising Don has joined up with the RINO's and MSM in the pile on to blame Trump.Delete

I don't read Don Surber in order to agree with him. If I disagree, so what? His column is the best thing going. And yes, Trump is finished. A century later, he's turning into William Jennings Bryan (look that one up) in Bryan's last lunge at glory in the 1920s.ReplyDelete
