Highlights of the News

ITEM 1: Men's soccer captain Tyler Adams mispronounced Iran at a pre-game press conference. He was asked by an Iranian reporter about race discrimination in the USA. Adams did not take a knee.

Instead, he said, "My apologies on the mispronunciation of your country. That being said, there’s discrimination everywhere you go.

"One thing that I’ve learned, especially from living abroad in the past years and having to fit in in different cultures, is that in the U.S., we’re continuing to make progress every single day.

"I grew up in a white family with obviously an African American heritage and background as well, so I had a little bit of different cultures and I was very easily able to assimilate in different cultures. Not everyone has that ease and the ability to do that. And obviously it takes the longest to understand. And through education, I think it’s super important—like you just educated me now on the pronunciation of your country.

"So it’s a process. I think as long as you see progress, that’s the most important thing."

The USA went on to beat Iran 1-0, but our team had already won the day.

ITEM 2: The New York Post reported, "Maryland cops find 15-year-old boy sleeping with loaded AR-15."

Doesn't everybody?

ITEM 3: D Magazine reported, "Fort Worth Star-Telegram Reporters Began Their Strike Monday. The Company Is Now Listing Their Jobs."

Newspapers are dead.

Their strike is like the crew of the Titanic demanding raises after the iceberg hit.

ITEM 4: CNBC reported, "AMC Networks told its employees Tuesday that it is planning significant layoffs, according to people familiar with the matter and a memo obtained by CNBC.

"The memo, sent by AMC Networks Chairman James Dolan, came shortly after the company announced that CEO Christina Spade stepped down from her role less than three months after being promoted to the position. The layoffs are expected to happen in the coming days and amount to about 20% of its U.S. staff, said one of the people, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the matter."

TV is going the way of newspapers.

ITEM 5: Insider Paper, "A Buddhist temple in central Thailand has been left without monks after all its holy men failed drug tests and were defrocked, a local official said Tuesday.

"Four monks including an abbot at a temple in Phetchabun province’s Bung Sam Phan district tested positive for methamphetamine on Monday, district official Boonlert Thintapthai told AFP."

Does that make them meth-odists?

ITEM 6: Breitbart reported, "Patriots Owner Robert Kraft has been known to loan his team’s plane out for good causes and this weekend was no exception.

"Funeral services for D’Sean Perry, one of three Virginia football players murdered in a mass shooting by former Virginia player Christopher Jones Jr., were held in Miami on Saturday. With the Patriots playing on Thursday night instead of Sunday and no team-related need for the plane this weekend, Kraft sent the team’s official plane to fly the entire team to Miami for the service."

It is great that he did this.

It is sad that he had to.

ITEM 7: The Center Square reported, "A letter in possession of a woman rescued from a sex trafficking ring in Texas says it takes roughly five to 13 years to buy freedom. Law enforcement officers have told The Center Square it can take longer if the victims are sold more than once and owe multiple debts.

"The letter was obtained by The Center Square from a law enforcement officer involved in rescuing trafficked Asian women in Rockport, Texas. Her name isn’t being disclosed for safety reasons. Two witnesses involved in the case were beheaded in Houston, law enforcement officers say, and others are afraid to expose a violent, extensive criminal trafficking ring operating out of Houston.

"In this case, officers first rescued women being held in a sex-trafficking operation at a Korean foot spa in Victoria, Texas, where forced prostitution was occurring. They later discovered the same people were being moved and forced into prostitution in multiple locations. Victoria is a few hours south of Houston; Rockport is north of Corpus Christi."

Democrats, RINOs and the Chamber of Commerce enable this.

Building the wall is humane. DACA is inhumane.

ITEM 8The New York Post reported, "Yano Anaya — who starred in the 1983 comedy A Christmas Story and its subsequent sequel — was cursed out earlier this month by the owner of the iconic house which served as the film’s setting, according to TMZ."

Starred?

He played the lackey of Scut Farkas.

ITEM 9: Apple threatened to drop the Twitter app because Elon Musk won't censor conservatives.

Bloomberg reported, "Apple to Lose 6 Million iPhone Pros From Tumult at China Plant."

Welcome to Muskenfreude, bitches.

ITEM 10The Daily Signal reported, "Focus on the Family Blamed for Club Q Shooting Despite Jim Daly Condemnation, Suspect’s Nonbinary Identity."

The left does not care about LGBT. The alphabet people are just stepping stones to power.

ITEM 11: Post Millennial reported, "Gay, Huffington Post contributor arrested for making threats against Atlanta LGBTQ nightclub."

The left will blame Focus on the Family.

ITEM 12: Science Alert reported, "Our meta-analysis showed that pain was rated as being significantly less intense after treatment with a placebo, with a moderate to large effect depending on each person. Our team also observed no significant difference between cannabis and a placebo for reducing pain.

"This corroborates the results of a 2021 meta-analysis. In fact, this 2021 meta-analysis also found that higher-quality studies with better blinding procedures (where both participants and researchers are unaware of who is receiving the active substance) actually had higher placebo responses.

"This suggests that some placebo-controlled cannabis trials fail to ensure correct blinding, which may have led to an overestimation of the effectiveness of medical cannabis.

"Our study also revealed many participants can distinguish between a placebo and active cannabis, despite having the same odor, taste and appearance. If they are aware that they are receiving or not receiving cannabinoids, they are more likely to provide a biased assessment of the effectiveness of the intervention. So to ensure researchers are observing the actual effect of cannabis, participants can't know what they receive."

4 out of 5 doctors recommend Chesterfield's.

ITEM 13The Oklahoman reported, "The first assistant district attorney of Payne and Logan counties was arrested Monday after his apartment was searched as a result of a child pornography investigation.

"Kevin Etherington, 53, was being held Tuesday in the Payne County jail on a child pornography complaint and a computer crimes complaint. His bail was set at $500,000.

"His boss, District Attorney Laura Austin Thomas, announced after his arrest that he had been fired."

Maybe he can say he was just preparing an ad for Balenciaga.

ITEM 14: The Bake My Cake bill passed 61-36 thanks to 12 Republican senators. The bill recognizes gay marriages and ends religious objections to these nuptials.

Republicans enabling this are Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio, Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina, Sen. Todd Young of Indiana, Sen. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa, Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri, Sen. Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming as well as Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan of Alaska.

Tell me again why we need a Republican majority. So Christians will only have to bake donuts instead of cakes?

ITEM 15AP reported, "Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes was convicted Tuesday of seditious conspiracy for a violent plot to overturn President Joe Biden’s election, handing the Justice Department a major victory in its massive prosecution of the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection."

I don't want to hear about Red China or Iran.

ITEM 16: Just the News reported, "Biden administration balks at supporting Chinese protesters, condemning communist government."

Well, at least he isn't a hypocrite.

Also, he stays bought.

    4. It's posturing - and I think it was done deliberately to force a lawsuit on Obergfell (gay marriage SCOTUS case). It will be overturned on the same basis of the Roe overturning, and the left will use it as a 2024 social issue to fire up their voters.

This law will be gutted as well, as once more the court says DC has no jurisdiction on the issue. Any attempt by congress to force this provision on red states will be the impetus for the lawsuit.

DC is all about keeping us stirred up so we don't notice their theft and debauchery.

  14. Pot's benefits increasingly are not, and their lack of dangerous side effects are being thrown aside for the realization that there is some danger there. It is not alcohol's cousin.

What we are discovering is that its pain killing benefits actually do not kill pain, they mask it for a bit. If you want pain relief look to CBD products as an alternative.

It is called dope for a reason. Studies are showing that consistent moderate use - smoking on a Saturday night for instance - results in long term cognitive decline in young adult males - and the loss is permanent. More studies are happening.

We know that today's pot with much higher THC levels is related to psychotic episodes at much higher rates than what would be found in yesteryear's less potent varieties. Along with this is a suggestion - not proven - that pot has all the earmarks of a gateway drug.

Pot smokers are at increased risk for emphysema versus cigarette smokers. Small sample study needs more work.

Our rush to legalize pot seems to have been another example of the dangers of democracy.

I think it's too strong now and repeated use has harmful effects, including psychosis. I do not think teenagers should be using it at all. I smell it all the time where I live, from first thing in the morning to late evening. It is not alcohol's cousin at all. It's now a revenue stream for my cash-strapped government.
