Donald Trump, kingmaker

"From former president Bill Clinton to Vice President Harris to former nominee Hillary Clinton, few Democratic heavyweights are in demand in the political climate today."

--WaPo today.

Republicans on the other hand by and large want Donald John Trump's help. A rally by the president can turn an election around.

Trump is a kingmaker.

He proved that 4 years ago when he flipped Senate seats in Florida, Indiana, Missouri and North Dakota. His party had a net gain of two seats in a midterm that should have gained Senate seats for Democrats.

Going head-to-head against Obama in governor's races in Florida and Georgia, Trump prevailed -- barely -- and while he was disappointed in Brian Kemp, Ron DeSantis is the most successful governor in the nation.

This year, Trump targeted the 10 traitors in the House that voted to impeach him. Liz Cheney is headed to The View or maybe she will replace John Dean on CNN, parroting "worse than Trump" instead of "worse than Watergate." Fewer crackers for Polly, sure, but she won't have to move to New York and deal with Whoopi Goldberg.

Trump endorsed 240 candidates in primaries and 92% of them won.

No one has endorsed that many candidates. No one has helped that many candidates win their primaries.

But Democrats rejoiced when Trump candidates won, just as they rejoiced when Republicans nominated Trump in 2016. How did that work out for Hillary?

Her party learned nothing.

  • Democrats cheered when Republicans nominated Trump-backed Kari Lake for governor of Arizona.
  • Democrats cheered when Republicans nominated Trump-backed Tudor Dixon for governor of Michigan.
  • Democrats cheered when Republicans nominated Trump-backed Joseph Lombardo for governor of Nevada.
  • Democrats cheered when Republicans nominated Trump-backed Tim Michels for governor of Wisconsin.

Now Democrats are sweating out Republicans flipping every one of those governorships.

Trump-backed Senate nominees look good as well. J.D. Vance has locked up Ohio and Dr. Oz is fending off Uncle Fester.

The biggy is Kelly Tshibaka, who may knock Frank Murkowski's daughter off her broom in Alaska.

Blake Masters, Herschel Walker and Adam Laxalt look to flip Senate seats in Arizona, Georgia and Nevada. Mitch McConnell fears a Trump-backed majority in the Republican caucus will force him to be a Republican instead of a RINO.

Democrats keep misjudging Trump because they are mesmerized by polls. National polls now are as accurate as coin flips because California dominates them.

On the day that Trump announced for president in 2015, Harry Enten looked at his unfavorables among Republicans and declared, "Trump has a better chance of cameoing in another Home Alone movie with Macaulay Culkin — or playing in the NBA Finals — than winning the Republican nomination."

The echo chamber in DC does not understand that Trump is the most beloved president since Reagan. All those fake allegations, witch hunts and FBI raids only endear him to us.

    1. Trump works tirelessly and for us. He could easily just vacation permanently. I am so grateful for him. He also awakened me. I believed the media until about 2019.

    2. The defining moment for me was Ronald Reagan’s election. All the MSM lies became manifest. That the MSM was nothing but shills for the Democrat Party was made clear.

    1. As usual, you’re spot on! However, one minor point of clarification, WHEN Kari Lake wins in AZ, she will not be “flipping” the governorship. AZ currently has a republican governor, so she will simply be keeping it that way.
Thanks for all your work. Best blog on the net.

    2. Doug Ducey governed like a Democrat. His COVID response was full-on Karen, he locked down the state's free citizens and never looked back.

Ducey was a RINO. Don't lose sight of that.

    3. It’s still not a “flip”. Whether, or not, Ducey is a RINO is a separate issue. The issue at hand was AZ governorship being flipped. Let’s hope it isn’t flipped.

    4. semantics - its being flipped from rino to MAGA and that is a huuuge deal!

  4. Since I live in Nevada, I feel sufficient expertise to correct the record regarding the Republican nominee for governor, Joe Lombardo. The Democrats did not "cheer" when the Republicans nominated Sheriff Lombardo. Lombardo is no MAGA Republican. There were much more conservative options in the primary field. The "ultra MAGA" candidate Joey Gilbert finished a distant second in the primary. I'm sure that's who the Dem stalwarts wanted to run against.

Lombardo has some RINO-esque tendencies and was viewed in the Republican primary as a mixed bag: the most electable Republican, but less than a dependable conservative. However, Lombardo is expected to be a very dependable conservative on law and order issues. If he betrays us conservatives, it will be on taxes or social issues, not crime. We can do worse than a "law and order" RINO. Much worse. In other words, Lombardo may be an upgrade, but he's no Kari Lake or Tudor Dixon or-- the gold standard in Republican governorships -- Ron DeSantis. Best case scenario is Lombardo will be another Greg Abbott. Not the dream governor, but not a Beta Beto by a long shot.
