Rob Reiner shows how Hitler did it

In the 1930s, Germans were the best educated people in the world. Sure, they had lost the Great War a little over a decade earlier. Their economy was in the toilet, but everyone's was. Germans were literate and cultured, the last people you would believe who could fall for demagoguery.

So why did they fall for Hitler? Why did they blame their woes on Jews?  Why did they in just a dozen years destroy themselves and half of Europe?

We are taught that Hitler's followers were stupid and naïve. But the elitists of the day also backed Hitler. The industrialists and the media did his bidding. We are told his supporters were lower-class losers. But educated, skilled and successful people also supported him and his attempt to eradicate the world of Jewish people. The military supported him too.

We are taught that Hitler mesmerized his followers. It was all that darned Hitler's fault. After the war, we created a fantasy that there was a place called Nazi Germany that did all the damage. We took the blame off Germany.

But no, Germans did this. They beat the Jews in the streets. They ran the cattle cars. They wanted to be the master race.

It is hard to fathom how a nation fell like this, until you look at someone who is falling for the fascism that has fallen upon America.

The best example I can find is Rob Reiner. I can argue that he is a fine film director. I base this on 40 years of work across a wide range of movie genres. He started with This Is Spinal Tap (a mockumentary) then came Stand by Me (a coming of age film) then The Princess Bride (an adult fairy tale) then When Harry Met Sally... (a rom-com) then Misery (a horror film) then A Few Good Men (a courtroom drama) then The American President (a romance) then The Bucket List (a road picture).

I left out about 20 other movies. I went with the ones that became ingrained in our culture. Conservative bloggers quote them all the time.

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

"I'll have what she's having."

"You can’t handle the truth."

Don't let your politics blind you. The man is perhaps the GOAT of all directors. He makes well-written scripts come alive. He is an accomplished man.

But don't let his artistry fool you. The man is consumed by politics. It is his religion and those who disagree are Satanists.

Reiner, who once denounced Nixon's use of campaign workers to spy on Larry Brown of the McGovern campaign, had no problem, 44 years later, when Obama used the FBI to spy on Trump.

For six years, the deep state has investigated Trump and found nothing.

But that does not faze Reiner. He has convinced himself that Trump is guilty and the FBI must bring him to justice because no man is above the law.

Except Hunter Biden.

Hillary.

John Podesta.

Everyone associated with Jeff Epstein.

On Tuesday, Rob Reiner cheered the seizure of telephones from Trump's friends and supporters.

As one of the characters in one of the Star Wars movies said, "So this is how liberty die with thunderous applause."

Half the nation is clapping.

Watching the foaming-mouth liberals in their blood-thirsty quest for Trump's imprisonment reminds me of how they foamed at the mouth over Karl Rove and Dick Cheney. Reiner is a ready and willing member of the lynch mob. Have rope, will travel.

And therein lies the secret. Hitler did not turn Germans into Nazis. They already were. He just channeled their Nazism.

Biden and Obama guided Reiner's hatred of Republicans. They use that hatred to gain power and to subdue the political opposition. Reiner is so self-righteous about standing up to fascism that he does not realize he is paving the way for the real fascists to roll in on tanks.

    4. Interesting story about Erik Larsen. When he began writing "Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania", he had gone to the UK to do some research. When he attempted to access archives regarding the Lusitania the man responsible for the archive said he wasn't going to allow an American access. He was informed the American was Larsen. Turned out the Archivist was a big fan of Larsen's book, "The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America" about the 1893 World's Fair." Larsen was then given free access to anything he wanted. I've read all of his books and enjoyed themall.

  3. Yes, there is already a segment of your population (and mine and others) that is ready for fascism. The response to and enthusiasm for restrictive COVID-19 measures showed that. All you have to do is channel feelings already there to the right places. It is happening now and it is frightening. But I do believe that they won't win in the long run. On a side note, although Meathead made some good films he is not the GOAT. We agree to disagree.

    1. Who is the Hollywood GOAT? My candidate is Irving Thalberg. At the time he died at 37, only ten best picture Oscars had been awarded and he won three of them (Broadway Melody, Grand Hotel and Mutiny on the Bounty). The first was the first movie musical with an original score. The second introduced the all-star cast. The third was one of the great adventure movies. Thalberg hired a professor of literature as associate producer to make sure screenplay adaptations remained true to the original book or stage play. Other great films included Red Dust, The Barretts of Wimpole Street, A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races, The Good Earth, and Camille. The Motion Picture Academy named its lifetime achievement award after him.

Got the inside scoop on Meathead from a lady who worked @ Castle Rock Entertainment back in the early ‘aughts, this is during W’s time; Reiner would come in every morning consumed by politics & W. 21. A few historical corrections.

First, most Germans didn't know about what was happening to the Jews. It was kept a secret because, when the SS tried exterminating the handicapped, there was national outrage. Numerically, a large number of people were helpers, but not a large percentage.

Second, the country was afraid of a Communist takeover in the Russian mold. They were even afraid Rohm's calls for a true revolution would bring the same result.

Third, the Depression hit Germany hard and Hitler was on the record as warning people Weimar socialism was going to end badly. They were desperate.

As for Fathead, directors don't create the lines. Writers do.

Didn't we also elevate a man on horseback in our desperation?

The German Jews like the American Jews of today welcomed the rise of socialism. They overwhelmingly supported Heir Hitler in 1932 feeling that they were proud Germans first then Jews second. They were a means to an end for the National Socialists, like the jews are for the Democratic party in America today. Shame on fellow Jew Merrick Garland for trashing every part of the Bill of rights to support the socialist agenda of Mr Obama and his proxies.
As to the German people not knowing what happened, just visit Dachau near Munich. The populace didn't care or supported it. While people may have been different 80-90 years ago, they are similar in many ways.

Probably worthwhile remembering that it was the World Jewish Congress that declared war in the first place against Germany in 1933, and started the process of boycotts and sanctions that led to the outbreak of WWII six years later in 1939.

Probably also worthwhile to look up the mass murdering Communist Jews Genrikh Yagoda, Ladovitch, Karpinski, Weis, Beria and Bela Kuhn. To name a few from the era immediately preceding WWII. They provide an important context as to why what happened next happened.

  33. An interesting analysis. Modern fanatic liberalism explains, or maybe correlates with, historic fanatic aspects of the Nazi movement, I'm not sure it explains the mass psychosis that gripped average Germans in the late 30's. We had a modern mass psychosis triggered by Covid that affected a large portion of our society, cut across political lines, and was exacerbated by irresponsible politicians, bureaucrats, and media personalities. But I don't see a strong correlation with the German condition in the 1930's.

Anyway, I enjoyed your thought provoking piece.

As someone noted, whereas the Dems can turn protestes up or down at will like a dimmer switch on a light, Conservatives have an on/off switch relative to taking such action. 38. Two points:

    1) Despite democrat and leftist efforts to invert the historical facts, Nazis were -leftists-. i.e. Socialists. They merely weren't as -far- left as the communists (i.e. liberal democrats), and thus are labeled 'right wing'. Fascism typically arises from the Left, and fits the leftist MO: Big Gov't colluding with Big Biz to compel social and behavioral compliance.

    2) Most of Reiner's films (and indeed most of the MSM) use veiled and subversive themes, which gradually nudge our society toward the Marxist agenda. This was the point made by McCarthy in the 1950's. He was correct, now it's all around us.

    The Origins of Totalitarianism
by Hannah Arent, published in 1951
    https://archive.org/details/TheOriginsOfTotalitarianism/mode/2up

If you've not read it I think you'll find it very poignant for our time, with far too many discomforting similarities to dismiss as nonsensical similarities to the rise of Nazism. And while it's a long, worthwhile read, 554 pages, focusing on Chapters 9-12 is a good place to start.Particularly focusing on "The Temporary Alliance Between the Mob and the Elite" beginning on page 326 in Chapter Ten (page 345 in the archive.org reader)

I believe you will be struck by the similarities to the society as it exists around us today, as it was in 1920's-1930's Germany and Europe after The Great War. And while the circumstances driving the societal angst among the "elite" then are different today, the product of them is nearly identical to the societal angst among the elite today that is driving the deconstruction of the world around us. This book describes the United States and most of the West in 2022.

  40. Reiner is a true meatheat in real life; an out-to-lunch liberal / marxist. A hollywood director is merely someone who manages others who are able to memorize their lines and skillfully 'act' a certain way. Far too much attention has been given to these types of people who memorize their lines and act for others' enjoyment. Just because a hollywood director has made a lot of money and spends time with others who memorize lines and act well doesn't make them an authority, or mean they have all the answers for the causes of 'global warming' which is a farce. Climate Control is actually what is occurring, but these hollywood dimwits don't that nor understand CO2 is a necessary atmospheric component for the photosynthesis process in order for plants and trees to function, and which give us O2 in return - it's called the carbon cycle. Next, the general public has been purposely misled by mainstream media's collective misrepresentation of Judaism and the people who are members of that religion. Jews are not a nationality and do not have specific DNA markers like native Irish or native Americans or African Americans or Italians, or Germans or French, etc. Jews are like Catholics in the sense that there are many nationalities who are members of the Catholic faith, for example. Similarly, there are many different nationalities from various countries who are members of the Jewish faith but this doesn't mean that Jews are a 'nationality'. When someone tells you they are "Jewish", it should be understood by everyone that they are in fact referring to their religious beliefs and background, and not a "nationality". Israel would then be properly considered a 'State' like the Vatican, whereby its followers / members are from a variety of nationalities like Catholics, and all the rest of the religious faiths around the world, except perhaps for Muslums who are concentrated in one area of the world for the most part.

Tribalism, collectivism, group identity (outside of value systems) is all garbage.

Self-identified Jews are a tribal group that mash together dna, religion, culture, politics, etc., into some bizarre cult that I was luckily thrown out of in elementary school. I’ve never understood it and they’ve never approved of me.

I judge men by their actions and values—not by the collective dna of their ancestry. But if some man demands to be herded like an animal—as if he is a breed of a dog—then I’m happy to oblige and treat him as such (metaphorically).

  43. Rob Reiner lives in a self-satisfied, smug “60’s” mindset. And he has enough money that he really doesn’t need to grow up. He’s not the first and won’t be the last.

Mr. Reiner spent his early childhood in New Rochelle, NY, and he’s a few years younger than another New Rochelle boy — Michael Schwerner, one of the three murdered voting rights volunteers , as depicted in “Mississippi Burning.”

Rob Reiner imho is absolutely convinced that anyone who disagrees with him is like the people who murdered Michael Schwerner … six decades ago.

To see the world in this way, imho it gives Mr. Reiner comfort and confidence.

Most adults, with time, grow up. Mr. Reiner has not. It’s sad.

  45. The Democrats are uncanny in the way they follow the patterns established by Hitler.

Hitler's original muscle was the SA, aka the Brown Shirts. They were disaffected lower class members. The Democrats original muscle was the KKK. They were disaffected lower class members.

The Brown Shirts became an impediment to Hitler's progress, so he purged them.
The KKK became an impediment to the Democrats progress, so they purged them.

Hitler formed the SS which attracted college educated members. It had many PhDs.
The Democrats formed Antifa (who also wear black uniforms) which attracted college educated members. t has many PhDs.

  46. Normally I don't play grammar police, but when you write a weighty article, you don't want people to be turned away because it reads like slop. Proofread your articles before posting them.

  47. Rob Reiner has the mindset of Stalin's Bolshevik Jews, who managed the gulag system and helped Uncle Joe commit the Holodomor against Orthodox Ukrainians for not buying into the collectivist mandates.
Reiner is kissing ass on the Biden/Obama regime guaranteeing himself a special seat at Uncle Joe Biden's table, much the same as Bolshevik Jews did for self preservation during Stalin's reign.

Kiss the ring, lick the boots, eat at the Elites table. Hollywood has been like American Communism's bolshevik hoard.

  50. Reiner is a tribalist, a collectivist and a totalitarian. He always has been. But many in his self-identified cult also have a switch that causes them to self-destruct, in addition to destroying the culture around them.

This is not genetic. It’s philosophical. Americans needs a “classical liberal / Scottish enlightenment” education—as our founders had it. And no so-called group needs it more than these high-IQ descendants of mostly Roman (around 500 ad) who call themselves Jews.

  51. Its fairly easy to see spot people that follow the devil. Just look to see if the try to fill you with hate. For 40 years the left has in so many way just promoted hate. Hate "the man" from the 60's. Hate mom and dad, from the 70 and 80's, Hate the rich, 80 and 90, Hate Christians, and now white men and straight anyone.

  52. Coincidentally, we are just more than 70 years from the defeat of the Nazis/Germans. The professors at American universities did the same as the German professors did to inculcate the educated strata in Germany to what became known as Nazism. Perhaps they didn't foresee what could be done with it when a band of sociopaths got control of the rhetoric, but they prepped the population.

    ========

"For more than seventy years the German professors of political science, history, law, geography and philosophy eagerly imbued their disciples with a hysterical hatred of capitalism, and preached the war of “liberation” against the capitalistic West. The German “socialists of the chair,” much admired in all foreign countries, were the pacemakers of the two World Wars. At the turn of the century the immense majority of the Germans were already radical supporters of socialism and aggressive nationalism. They were then already firmly committed to the principles of Nazism. What was lacking and was added later was only a new term to signify their doctrine.

"When the Soviet policies of mass extermination of all dissenters and of ruthless violence removed the inhibitions against wholesale murder, which still troubled some of the Germans, nothing could any longer stop the advance of Nazism. The Nazis were quick to adopt the Soviet methods."
