Highlights of the News

ITEM 1: Karl Rove made his midterm prediction. He sees Republicans winning a 233-202 majority.

He wrote, "Republicans are likely to gain closer to 20 than 25. But that’s partly because the GOP got a head start in 2020 by picking up 14 House seats. A net gain of 20 seats this fall would give Republicans 233—the GOP had 230 in 1995 when Newt Gingrich was elected speaker."

233 seats is nice but 250 is better because it would be the most Republican Congress since Hoover was president.

ITEM 2: Cowboy State Daily reported, "Bill Gates-Backed Fake Meat Products Having Horrible Year; 75% Stock Market Drop."

Burger King tried to become Soybean King and failed.

My plant-based meat comes from cows who eat grass.

ITEM 3: The Washington Free Beacon reported, "The Army’s first openly transgender officer was indicted Thursday on charges of trying to provide American soldiers’ medical information to the Russian government."

He/she/whatever wins the 2022 Chelsea Manning Award. They changed teams in more ways than one.

ITEM 4: Blaze Media reported, "Fauci and his wife's net worth jumped $5 million during pandemic, financial disclosures show."

Destroying the economy, ruining education and bankrupting small businesses pays.

ITEM 5: The Daily Mail reported, "The Biden administration quietly announced a change in its student debt forgiveness program on Thursday that could exclude up to 4 million borrowers with loans owned or backed by private companies.

"The U-turn by the federal government comes after the first legal challenges were filed to the policy and following criticism of the huge costs to taxpayers. Critics also claimed the plan is an illegal use of President Joe Biden's executive power.

"The Education Department announced that privately held loans won't qualify for the relief plan, which the Congressional Budget Office said earlier this week could cost $400 billion over a decade."

If student loan debt is so bad, why does the government allow student loans to continue?

ITEM 6: The Washington Examiner reported, "In an apparent response to Justice Elena Kagan's recent remarks about the Supreme Court's legitimacy, Justice Samuel Alito argued that "questioning our integrity crosses an important line."

"Alito, the justice who authored the 6-3 opinion that overturned 49 years of abortion precedent under Roe v. Wade this summer, made his highly rare rebuke to Kagan in a statement to the Wall Street Journal, albeit without directly naming her."

He said, "It goes without saying that everyone is free to express disagreement with our decisions and to criticize our reasoning as they see fit. But saying or implying that the court is becoming an illegitimate institution or questioning our integrity crosses an important line."

If the court has no integrity, why does Kagan continue to be there? She should resign.

In January.

ITEM 7: Just the News reported, "Former President Donald Trump on Thursday scored a major win in the ongoing court battle pertaining to the FBI's seizure of documents from his Mar-a-Lago estate in early August.

"'There shall be no separate requirement on Plaintiff at this stage, prior to the review of any of the Seized Materials, to lodge ex ante final objections to the accuracy of Defendant's Inventory, its descriptions, or its contents,' wrote U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon in the Thursday ruling.

"Special Master Raymond Dearie, whom Cannon appointed to independently review the documents the bureau seized, had sought to require that Trump substantiate his claims that the FBI planted evidence during the raid. Trump repeatedly suggested such on social media posts but his lawyers stopped short of making the claims in formal court filings."

The burden of proof is on the government, not the accused. You would think a retired judge would know that.

ITEM 8: CBS reported, "After weeks of slow decline, prices at the gas pumps across  the San Francisco Bay Area have surged once again Wednesday to over $6 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

"According to AAA, there has been nearly a 20-cent jump between the price of unleaded in the last 24 hours.

"San Francisco rose from $6.098 to $6.289. San Jose's jump was from $5.967 to $6.142 and motorists filling up in Oakland experienced an increase from $5.083 to $6.155.

"San Rafael residents were among the highest in the state jumping from $6.107 to $6.304.

"The wild swing in prices has taken even veteran industry watchdog Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, by surprise."

Prices will go down as demand goes down as everyone switches to electric cars.

Well, except for the part where people buy gasoline for their generators.

ITEM 9: The Daily Mail reported, "Two-time Emmy winner Bruce Willis can still appear in movies after selling his image rights to Deepcake, a Delaware-based company founded by Ukrainian-born CEO Maria Chmir, last year before his aphasia diagnosis.

"Engineers at the AI-powered content optimization web platform created a ultra-realistic 'digital twin' of the actor, 67, by putting images of his face into their network.

"In March the Die Hard veteran's family shared news he was retiring from acting due to the condition, which is a neuro-cognitive disorder that effects the sufferers ability to speak and understand language."

I will take a fake Bruce Willis over most actors in Hollywood.

ITEM 10: Just the News reported, "The Kremlin says the parts of occupied Ukraine set to be annexed after a 'sham' voter referendum will be officially made part of Russia in a ceremony Friday.

"The announcement was made Thursday by the office of Russian President Vladimir Putin. A Putin spokesperson said the ceremony will start with the signing of a treaty to make the four occupied areas – Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia – part of Russia, according to state-run media agency Tass."

Bad move by Vlad.

ITEM 11: The Federalist reported, "Arkansas Library Says Book Teaching Masturbation To Ages 7-12 Will Stay On Children’s Shelves."

Libraries are now groomer-toriums.

ITEM 12: The New York Post reported, "TV news legend Tom Brokaw and his wife, Meredith Auld, are cashing out.

"They have just put their sprawling, 56-acre Westchester compound on the market for $6.3 million. The listing was first reported by the Real Deal.

"Brokaw is fighting sexual harassment allegations, which he has adamantly denied."

Poor Tom.

The allegations hit the papers 4 years ago.

Vox reported on May 1, 2018, "Brokaw is the latest public figure to be accused of sexual misconduct. Three women have come forward in the past week with allegations against him. Former NBC correspondent Linda Vester and another unnamed woman said he acted inappropriately in a pair of news reports published last week. On Tuesday, a third woman came forward, saying Brokaw made an unwanted advance to her 50 years ago. Brokaw, 78, has vehemently denied any misconduct, and his current and former colleagues have rallied to his defense."

I'm not defending the guy but an unwanted advance should not bankrupt anyone 50 years later.

ITEM 13: Insider reported, "Queen Elizabeth II died of 'old age': death certificate."

Sure. That's what they want you to believe.

ITEM 14: The Daily Mail reported, "Hero EMT, 61, stabbed to death while giving aid to patient in Astoria Queens: Suspect is arrested for 'barbaric and unprovoked attack' after FDNY veteran and World Trade Center responder was knifed in the neck."

The mayor held a press conference.

How about locking violent criminals up without bail? How about cracking down on all drug users? How about making New York livable again?

As crime rises, you realize just what a lousy cop Eric Adams must have been.

ITEM 15: Victory Girls reported, "Obama On Immigration: GOP Fears People Of Darker Shades."

Darker than Dr. Ben Carson? Larry Elder? Herschel Walker?

Never heard of Lee Elder, but I
have heard Larry Elder, the political conservative that ran a campaign for governor in Cali.
Since Don's listed two other people with prominent political leanings, i just naturally assumed the third person would as well. Sorry to offend anybody.
