What you have to swallow to be a Never Trumper

David French and the rest of the gang cheered the FBI's raid of Mar-a-Lago. They also convinced themselves that pleading the Fifth Amendment to every question asked in a deposition is proof of guilt. Just what the crime is will be determined later.

We have kicked these buffoons around for 6 years, but we have never really examined the sacrifices made to be a Never Trumper.

Here is what they have had to swallow.

1. You have to believe that Hillary sending classified material to foreign agents and foreign governments as secretary of state was no big deal.

2. You have to believe that Trump taking home material to Mar-a-Lago is a capital offense that requires 30 FBI agents to spend 9 hours rifling through his wife's undergarments and the like.

3. You have to believe that Obama using the FBI to spy on Trump was no big deal.

4. You have to believe that Trump asking Zelensky to look into Hunter Biden's criminality is an impeachable offense.

5. You have to believe that Democrat riots in city after city was no big deal.

6. You have to believe that Trump rallying 250,000 people at the National Mall was an insurrection and an impeachable offense.

7. You have to believe that Hillary colluding with Russians to frame Trump was no big deal.

8. You have to believe that Russia colluded with Trump based on Democrat oppo research.

9. You have to believe that Trump was a buffoon while at the same time believing Trump was a diabolical criminal mastermind.

10. You have to believe that Make America Great is an anti-American slogan.

That's a lot to swallow, so much that Linda Lovelace would gag. Small wonder they look so sad all the time.

    1. You have to believe that no president since Eisenhower ever promised to move it, then didn’t.

    2. The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 is a public law of the United States passed by the 104th Congress on October 23, 1995. The proposed law was adopted by the Senate (93–5) and the House (374–37). The Act became law without a presidential signature on November 8, 1995.
The Act recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and called for Jerusalem to remain an undivided city. Its purpose was to set aside funds for the relocation of the Embassy of the United States in Israel from its location in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, by May 31, 1999

  5. Good column, Don, and interesting closing statement. What I would say is that the Never Trumpers just don't care. I don't think they've swallowed anything and I think most of them don't believe any of it or think that what has happened is right. They are so afflicted with TDS syndrome that they simply cannot get past it. Hate trumps all in their case.

  6. Randy says: And yesterday, Sundance outed himself as “Never DeSantis.” He called for an immediate, in-depth, knee-jerk “hot take” on the evolving story the governor had nothing to do with. DeSantis released a short statement the evening of the raid, but with schools about to open across the state, and running a re-election campaign, DeSantis has more on his plate than running around, making “media appearances” and “answering questions” to Sundance’s satisfaction.

And by the way, there are 28 Republican governors in America. I’m still waiting for him to write 27 more full-length articles criticizing each governor’s lack of a knee-jerk reaction to an event they had nothing to do with, either.

That article caused me to lose a lot of respect for Sundance. If he’s going full “Never DeSantis,” maybe we should treat him like Bill Kristol.

    4. If you follow the DeSantis tag on CTH, you find pretty much nothing but positive commentary, right up until the two most recent posts.

This appears to be Sundance now turning on DeSantis--on the basis of his weak response to a raid that, as Sundance pointed out, would have involved him in an official capacity via a joint cooperative task force--rather than Sundance having been "Never DeSantis" all along.

    5. Hear, hear! Lost Sundance a long time ago here too. Plus I didn't like his writing style, too much of a slog. Don is much more cogent.

    3. Randy says: Six years of a Trump presidency (4+0+2) then 10 years of DeSantis (2+4+4) would be heaven, but I don’t see Trump “stepping aside” 2 years into his second term for anything short of a terminal illness. My wish is that he fills the middle “0” of his presidency with 2 years as Speaker of the House.

They are as guilty as the Democrats. It's all Deep State coverup of their domestic surveillance against political opposition crimes, and they don't want those documents Trump had declassified and released.

  11. 1. Russia can't buy anything from other countries without hard currency, which the ruble is not (but with Biden's help may soon be).
    2. Russia's sources of hard currency are materials extraction, a large fraction of which is oil and gas.
    3. Hilary, Biden and the rest of the Democrats work night and day to restrict the extraction of oil and gas in North America leading to higher prices for same, benefiting Russia, Saudi etc.
    4. Trump and Republicans strive to increase North American production, lowering world wide prices to the and reducing hard currency reserves of, among others, Russians.
    5. How could anyone believe that Putin and the Russians preferred Hilary to Trump in 2016. It amazes me to this day that I haven't seen this point brought up time and time again; it was obvious to me immediately.
