Highlights of the News

ITEM 1: The New York Post reported, "Salty dogs hang ten at World Dog Surfing Championships in California."

Procul Harum approves this message.

We truly are in the dog days of summer.

ITEM 2: The Farmer's Almanac is out. Look for a rough winter.

The almanac's promo said, "1) The first week of January in the Rockies and across the Plains. During this time, we see good potential for heavy snow that may reach as far south as Texas and Oklahoma, followed by a sweep of bitterly cold air.

"2) January 16-23, we’ll raise another red flag for bouts of heavy rain and snow across the eastern two-thirds of the country followed by what might be one of the coldest outbreaks of arctic air we have seen in several years. How cold? Try 40 degrees below zero!"

At 40 below, Celsius and Fahrenheit are the same: So cold you'd think Costanza just stepped out of the pool.

ITEM 3: American Military News reported, "The CEO of an online ammo retailer said last week that thousands of rounds of ammunition have “gone missing” during transit, particularly when shipped through UPS.

"CEO Patrick Collins of ammunition retailer The Gun Food said of 18,000 rounds of ammo that has been shipped from his company via UPS, just one third made it to their final destination. It is unclear where the remaining 12,000 rounds are."

Try FedEx.

ITEM 4: Just a little inside.

This was what sports were meant to be.

ITEM 5: CNN reported, "Trevor Reed, a U.S. citizen freed earlier this year after being detained in Russia for nearly three years, said Friday that Brittney Griner's sentence by a Russian court is clearly political.

"Griner, a WNBA star who was arrested in Russia in February, was convicted Thursday of deliberately smuggling drugs into Russia and sentenced to nine years of jail time. She plays there in the off-season and was accused of trying to smuggle less than 1 gram of cannabis oil in her luggage."

Meanwhile, the Biden administration has dozens of actual political prisoners in jail for going on 19 months. CNN could not care less.

It should because once the fascists get rid of us, they go after everyone else.

ITEM 6: Valiant News reported, "Rep. Paul Gosar, the popular Republican from Arizona, has called for a 10 year moratorium on foreign aid even as billions are sent to Ukraine.

"On Monday, the Biden administration announced that another $4.5 billion of taxpayer’s money has been earmarked for foreign aid sent to Ukraine, in order to help the government maintain 'essential functions' during the Russian invasion.

"When including the amount spent on arms and other tangible resources, Ukraine will have received over $18 billion from the US this year alone.

"Following the news, Gosar, one of the most America First members of Congress, tweeted that America needs a Total Foreign Aid Moratorium, with the policy going into place for at least 10 years."

Why stop at 10 years?

ITEM 7: The Daily Caller reported, "Surprising No One, Netflix Cancels Show About Woke Team Of Gay Secret Agents."

The name killed it. Q-Force

Why not The Spy Who Buggered Me?

ITEM 8: Summit News reported, "The World Economic Forum has been pushing hard for a ‘cashless society’ in a post-pandemic world, though physical money has made a comeback in at least one European country as consumers increasingly use notes and coins to help them balance household budgets amid an inflationary storm."

A cashless society is a fascist society. Why do you think elitists want this?

The Canadian convoy protest taught us that Western governments can and will close your account on you if you do not obey them.

That the people running these governments are insane (don't make me run that picture of Peter Strzok again) matters not. They have hoops. You will jump through them.

It is not that they are evil that bugs me as much as that they are incompetent. In this Mayberry, Andy Taylor is long gone. A cashless society is Barney Fife's fiefdom.

ITEM 9: The Epoch Times reported, "The Justice Department has to respond to motions to unseal a warrant that triggered the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, according to a magistrate judge who reportedly approved the search.

"Judicial Watch and the Albany Times Union newspaper filed a motion to unseal the document earlier this week, which was granted by a judge in the case."

Every news organization in the USA should join this request.

ITEM 10: And now, a message from the president of El Salvador.

Answer: That depends on if you are Ukraine or not. Zelensky shutting down the opposition netted him $54 billion from the USA alone.

ITEM 11: The New York Post reported, "‘Forever’ chemicals in cookware linked to liver cancer in first human study."

At 68, my forever is too short to 1.) waste a lot of time cleaning pots and pans and 2.) worrying about getting cancer in 30 years.

ITEM 12: Inflation fell to 8.5%.

That's today's chuckle.

But Barron's reported, "Social Security recipients are on pace to receive the biggest raise in more than 40 years for 2023, although cooling inflation has brought the projection down slightly from prior estimates.

"The projected cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, for 2023 is 9.6%, according to the Senior Citizens League. That bump would raise the average retiree benefit of $1,656 by $158.98, according to the organization."

For the mathematically challenged (and there are some Democrats who read my blog) the 9.6% COLA is higher than the official inflation rate of 8.5%.

ITEM 13: Zero Hedge reported, "Instead of waiting for the police, a law-abiding citizen with a concealed carry license (also known as a 'good guy with a gun') took matters into his own hands and acted quickly, drawing his weapon and killing a gunman who was about to "shoot up the crowd" at a party in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday night.

"Local news CBS12 said a fight broke out between 20 people at a family gathering on Division Avenue and 4th Street in West Palm Beach. At that moment, a 22-year-old male retrieved a short-barreled shotgun from his car and threatened to 'shoot up the crowd.'

"West Palm Beach Police said the man refused to drop the weapon after yelling out mass shooting threats, and that was when a 32-year-old man with a concealed weapon license fired his pistol, hitting the armed suspect.

"The law-abiding citizen immediately called 911 late Sunday night after he shot the crazed gunman. Detectives said the 22-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene."

A good guy with a gun just saved 20 people.

Police did not arrest him. It's Florida, a free state.

ITEM 14The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported, "Monkeypox in Georgia is infecting an overwhelming number of black people compared to other races — a disproportionate effect not anticipated just a few weeks ago, new data from the Georgia Department of Public Health show."

Monkeypox is rayyyyycist.

749 cases in Atlanta. 8 are women.

Ahem, maybe if fewer black men engaged in butt sex with other black men, they wouldn't get what Tucker Carlson dubbed Schlong Covid.

ITEM 15: The New York Post reported, "OnlyFans squashed competitors in the online porn industry with the help of a bizarre scheme that bribed Meta (Facebook) employees to throw thousands of porn stars onto a terrorist watchlist, according to a group of explosive lawsuits.

"Adult performers who sold X-rated photos and videos on rival sites saw their Instagram accounts falsely tagged as containing terrorist content — crippling their ability to promote their business and devastating their incomes, according to the suits."

Spinquark's reaction? "This may be a stupid question, but why does Facebook maintain a terror watchlist?"

Introducing Don Surber's Terrorist Watchlist.

Why should Meta (Facebook) employees collect all the bribes?

  1. Randy says: Item 11: “‘Forever’ chemicals in cookware linked to liver cancer in first human study.” The “forever” chemicals in the clot shot will kill people with heart disease and opportunistic infections long before Teflon will give them cancer. Remember, “The State of California has determined that [everything in California, including their air and water] contains chemicals known to cause cancer.”

  2. Item 14: Atlanta has been a Mecca for gays for many years. It also has the largest black middle class in the country thanks to the confluence of city, county, state and federal jobs in the city --- and affirmative action.

    3. There was something in the news about a month ago where UPS said they would no longer deliver gun parts and ammunition. They walked back the words. Maybe they are still doing it but not bragging. I've gotten two deliveries of ammo this month, one on the first and one yesterday.

    4. Randy says: I also picked up a package of ammo yesterday, delivered by UPS. Plain cardboard box, about 5X the size needed so the weight would not seem unusual. I’m just stocking up in case I ever decide to replace the guns I lost in a tragic boating accident.

    6. FedEx delivery leaves a bit to be desired. My house is about 75' from the street and up a steep hill. The drivers don't like walking up to the house so they tend to leave packages under the mailbox at the street. I've had boxes of ammo left there in the snow. If they do come up the driveway they'll leave packages on the side porch in the rain rather than walk 40' to the covered front porch. UPS is much better placing packages once they get them here but if they can no longer be trusted to get them here...

  6. Randy says: Item 12: “Inflation fell to 8.5%. That's today's chuckle.” The American Institute for Economic Research confirms that their Everyday Price Index fell 0.6% in July, after 19 consecutive increases dating back to December 2020. The 0.6% drop in July, coming after its 2.4% jump in June, puts the 12-month inflation index at 13.0%.

    1. Randy says: Using the government’s method of calculating the Consumer Price Index during the Carter years, the current CPI is still around 17%. It’s the blue line on the bottom chart here:

(The red line shows the government’s current method of calculating the CPI, which is accurate only if you never buy food or fuel.)

Man, wouldnt that be an idea. Instead of sending all that money to the Ukraine, Congress could actually replace all the money they 'Borrowed' ie stole from Social Security funds to be begin with. Several times.

  8. 5 - before the incident, hardly anyone knew of superstar Griner. Whenever she is released from prison, she will make millions.

The media only uses the term cannabis oil so we think marijuana. She smuggled in hashish oil. Marijuana and hashish are part of the cannabis family.

  14. Randy says: Item 13: “The law-abiding citizen immediately called 911 late Sunday night after he shot the crazed gunman.” A good rule of thumb is that the first person to call 911 is the good guy. If you ever have to shoot a bad guy, make sure you immediately call 911 to report it. If you just wing the guy and he calls 911, you’ll be reported as the shooter.

#8- "It is not that they are evil that bugs me as much as that they are incompetent." I dunno, I think I wouldn't want evil OR incompetent; and much less evil AND incompetent. Best of all, of course, would be NEITHER.

#11- Don's "forever" : in Jewish circles it's customary to wish people that they should live to 120. [One old geezer responded, "What?! You're only giving me one more year?!"]. By that standard, Don, you're barely middle-aged.

(For those who were wondering, why 120 specifically? Because that was the age that Moses reached. Well, then, why Moses' age and not that of some other biblical figure who lived longer? Because up until the very end Moses was in full good health, suffering no frailty at all. So by wishing that a person reaches Moses' age, you're also implicitly wishing they enjoy good health throughout.)

    GA - 7.18
no where else is even close to 6
