Let Trump be Trump

For 7 years, Never Trumpers have complained about his style. I haven't. I like it. He is combative. Pugilists throw punches. Wusses say, "Please clap."

I can see why his style is off-putting. Conservatives are not used to elbows being out. They want Reagan the Grandfather.

But we have Trump who is crazy as a fox. That's the reality.

And the reality is a Reaganesque Trump would not work in today's political world. The shared experience of World War II is long gone. Elitists shun patriotism and their wannabes agree. Today's liberals respect no one, not even themselves. They run every institution in the United States, and they ruin every one.

Trump had to take them all on at once. That required a combativeness never witnessed on the American political stage.

In a video, Tom Klingenstein, Chairman of the Claremont Institute, explained Trump's Virtues.

Klingenstein said, "Trump thinks we can vanquish all comers if we just put our minds to it, and he's right… Courage never demands perfection… Trump over and over said exactly what political correctness prohibits one from saying... Trump said Haiti is a shithole and that representative Maxine Waters has a low IQ. These were not racist lies. They were uncouth, politically incorrect observations that most of us would agree with but would not dare say."

Trump is a keen observer of the media. He knows how it works. His kissing up to gossip columnist Liz Smith in the 1970s made him a billionaire a decade later, and spared him from becoming a pauper in the 1991 recession when the banks wanted to foreclose.

He saw how they tore into Sarah Palin like dogs attacking a chew toy. And when her vice presidential campaign was over, AP and the Washington Post hounded her out of the governor's office. There were 26 fake ethics complaints against her. Legal fees almost bankrupted her. The media cheered when she resigned.

The press are shills for the deep state and the deep state will never forgive him for winning -- and us for electing him.

Trump is a businessman, not a politician. He delivers.

Klingenstein said, "Unlike most politicians, when Trump sees a problem, he goes out and fixes it. He fixed our porous borders. He moved our Israeli embassy to Jerusalem after decades of inaction. He eliminated hate-America critical race theory in his administrative agency. He developed a vaccine in record time. He achieved energy independence and much, much more."

Now some of us want Ron DeSantis. He's young and fresh. He is just as combative. He took on the largest media conglomerate in the world -- Disney -- and made it cry.

Maybe Trump will step aside and give the nomination to him.

And maybe my wife and I will have another child at age 68.

Trump said last weekend, "If I stayed home, if I announced that I was not going to run for office, the persecution of Donald Trump would immediately stop. But that's what they want me to do. And you know what? There's no chance I do that."

The constant badgering by the press and the intelligence community have not stopped him.

They have made him stronger.

Given the circumstances of ballot harvesting, media manipulation and a government willing to destroy America to maintain power -- the pandemic panic proved that -- who is our best hope to save America again? We need someone who can fire up the base and withstand the heat.

Klingenstein said, "A large part of Trump’s appeal was that he was a bona fide outsider. He distrusted the experts who believe they knew better than the average American how to run the country. This distrust was appealing to Trump’s base who believed, and with good reason, that the experts created the despotic mess in which we find ourselves."

The real insurrection was Obama inciting a resistance by Civil Service-protected Democrats.

The real insurrection was the FBI spying on him.

The real insurrection was luring a few Trump supporters into the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

This is what Trump is up against. Its technical name is evil. I admire his willingness to battle the intelligence community, the bureaucracy, the media, the RINOs, the lobbyists and all the rest.

What would Jesus do? Overturn tables and chase the bastards out with a whip of cords.

Klingenstein's message was so persuasive that M.B. Mathews wrote, "I was wrong about Trump."

The column began, "I recently wrote a column about why I believed Trump should not run in 2024. I was wrong. I allowed my distaste for Trump’s personality to override his virtues, which are considerable. Some people want Trump without his vices. I was among them -- until yesterday, when I watched and listened to Tom Klingenstein’s speech titled Trump’s Virtues. It was masterful and shamed me that I did not make the distinction between Trump's character and his virtues, the former being deeply flawed, the latter being almost perfect. I need to man up in my defense of the former President's virtues. The speech was among the most pointed I have heard and deserves some exposure."

Trump's character is no more flawed than anyone else's. Show me a man who never made a mistake and I will show you a nobody.

His style suits the time we live in.

Americans need a champion. He's it.

  2. People always say "Trump is his own worst enemy." At which point I remind them he won the Republican nomination over 15 other seasoned, qualified politicians then won the general election against huge odds then had a great many accomplishments while in office. I then tell them that maybe...just maybe he actually KNOWS what he is doing.

    2. As I pointed out to many, Trump's genius was in recognizing the biggest demographic, the f-u vote. The huge majority that refused to vote for either of the thimble dick parties. He saw the tsunami on the horizon, paddled waay outside, and he rode that bad boy. His biggest mistakes came when he forgot the mantra his supporters believed, those magic words, fugg both sides of the shit coin, the purveyors of tainted pork and rancid mayo that both sides fed into the body poly tick.

  7. Trump won in 2016 the old-fashioned way by out-organizing, innovating and understanding the rules of US presidential elections (similarly, Obama did it to Clinton (same candidate coincidentally) in 2008). Trump in 2020 was less-organized and less innovative than in 2016. If Trump wins in 2024 it will be because he returned his campaign to what he did to win in 2016.

    2. Sorry Brainy you’ve got it all wrong. In 2020 Trump was more organized and worked harder than in 2016. In 2020 no one anticipated the extent of outright fraud the deep state would resort to. Never forget! Never forgive! Mega MAGA!

  9. Here's the coffee creamer for your excellent post:

    https://compactmag.com/article/they-can-t-let-him-back-in

"Anti-Trump hysteria is in the final analysis not about Trump. The regime can’t allow Trump to be president not because of who he is (although that grates), but because of who his followers are. That class—Angelo Codevilla’s “country class”—must not be allowed representation by candidates who might implement their preferences, which also, and above all, must not be allowed. The rubes have no legitimate standing to affect the outcome of any political process, because of who they are, but mostly because of what they want."

Today's post proves you are once again firmly in Trump's camp. Welcome back, Don.

  14. This article was perfectly timed. I have a very good conservative friend who was just yesterday saying to me that a big part of him wishes Trump wouldn’t run in 2024. I was totally shocked by his thoughts. I tried to make the case, but I’m no brilliant writer and needed to condense my thoughts. Fast fwd to today, my thoughts all summarized in your article. PERFECT!!! Thank you.

    1. The only reason the elites, deep state and politicians are giving to Ukraine is because they receive payments back for each dollar they spend. I truly believe that. Ukraine is known as the Corruption Capital. Biden and his son Hunter know it well. There is a piece written by an author who I can't remember stating that for every dollar the Ukraine had received prior to the war 50cents came back to a politician supporter. Disgusting but true.

  19. People always say negative things about President Trump's character. I see a man of high character. Think about what could happen to a person with large amounts of cash and access to power. Where could that take them (e.g. Hunter Biden) and then judge the man. President Trump has raised a wonderful family, is patriotic, believes in God, and been successful in business. How many legit people have come forward with claims of wrong doing. For a man like President Trump, I would say a whole lot less than the average man like myself.

Wrongaroonies. We loved Reagan, but, when Trump came along, we found the guy some of us had been waiting to see for 65 years.

People quoted Lincoln regarding Grant. "I can't spare this man. He fights".

And better than Grant, he wins. And, even better, '20 may be the most Pyrrhic victory in history.

  21. As a Floridian, I cannot wait to vote for DeSantis for governor. I do not want him to run for president ... yet.

Not only because I'm selfish, but also because he has some connections with RINOs I'm not thrilled with and we have no idea what his plan for the economy would be. As Sundance at The Last Refugee has pointed out repeatedly, economic security is national security. Trump has proven that he knows how to fix the economy to benefit Main Street and make trade deals that don't allow McConnell's buddies in the Chamber of Commerce to continue raping America.

Let DeSantis work on putting together a MAGA plan for the economy. In the meantime, let the Master show him how its done. And as someone noted above, Trump has some unfinished business to take care of. Hopefully that includes some heads on pikes.

    1. If I was a Floridian, I, too, would NOT want DeSantis to run in '24. He has much to accomplish, and you say, learn. Let Florida be the 'Show and Tell' of how normal policies work, the Shining Light on the Hill as it were, and then DeSantis can enter the national arena sometime after he leaves office in Jan '27...if he wants to.

  22. Trump is a business man. If his health is good he will run and win. President Trump did not spend a few million fixing us his campaign flying condo including new Roles engines and a paint job just to let it set. Every straw pole I have read is 70-78% Trump 16% DeSantis and the want-a-bees at .03% including little Marco and Pompano

  24. Trump’s character is impeachable even though the Dems and many Republicans allowed it to happen twice.

    What’s his character flaw?

    He punches down.

    Wow. How horrible.

He’s a serial monogamist or as some such idjit female “journalist” once stated.

Yeah, he fooled around on his first wife and stated the obvious when it comes to women and rich, powerful men.

    Again, how horrible.

I guess if he cheated on his wife in office like Kennedy and Clinton, then that would be ok, huh, especially since Clinton used his position and power to do exactly what feminists hate men doing in the work place.

No, it’s not about his character flaws, Democrats love character flaws, they champion them. Nope, it’s about raw power, achieving it and keeping it no matter who gets hurt.
