How to become a media hero

So, you wanna be a media star but you screwed up and tried to kill a president.

No problem.

Just say those two magic words that open your door to Nightline and all those morning programs.

Gun control.

Journalists live to sell the public on gun control. Anyone who supports gun control is a hero. Anyone who points out the Second Amendment forbids it is a villain. The blood is always on their hands, not the perp's.

The latest hero is John Hinckley Jr., the coward who almost assassinated Ronald Reagan 41 years ago. He used a handgun to wound the president, his press secretary James Brady, police officer Thomas Delahanty and Secret Service agent Tim McCarthy.  Hinckley was freed last year and is on a rehabilitation tour.

To be fair, he did apologize. But really, all he had to do was say I support gun control to make the media fall in love with him.

Media Research Center said this would-be assassin got almost 7 minutes of free airtime on ABC and then again on CBS. ABC's Juju Chang gushed in her interview with him.

CHANG: Hinckley's crimes back in 1981 changed gun control in the U.S. In 1993, James Brady and his wife, Sarah, helped pass The Brady Act. And the Brady law ushered in a waiting period and background checks.

HINCKLEY:  Right.

CHANG: Especially with regard to people who were suffering mental illness.

HINCKLEY: I certainly don't think the mentally ill should have access to guns. I mean, that's kind of obvious. Background checks are good. Waiting periods are good. I think there's too many guns in America.

CHANG: And coming from you, that's quite a statement.

So the trainer threw the seal a fish and the seal clapped.

Amazing.

The bonus for Hinckley is he gets to blame the gun for his action and his poor choice. I get that he is mentally ill. What I don't get is why we did not simply hang him and be done with it.

The left has succeeded in making criminals the victim and their victims insignificant.

  1. Good to see that European press (and museum administrators) are ass-hats too. So that when jerks glue their hands to famous paintings, it's time for "the photo shoot". Giving the jerks what they want.

    1. Really, just let them stay there. Eventually they will need to take care of bodily functions, like eating and the bathroom. Oh wait if the museum is in California, they will fit right in.

    2. I would've liked to grab their wrist and yank that sucker as hard as I could and see if they'd leave some skin behind.

    3. Zip-tie their free hand to their opposite ankle, making them stand on one leg. Then pepper spray them. Sorry, no hands free to wipe away the spray.

    4. It actually would leave skin behind, LG. The SuperGlue bond is stronger than the skin itself, meaning the frame-to-skin bond would remain intact as the skin is ripped from the underlying bone & muscle.

    5. Cover the painting with tarp and cut off their fingers. That would be the ultimate performance art.

    6. Thank you Don Suber for revealing truths! Thank goodness Don's readers know better. The sheeple continue to wait out the Globalist maneuvers, what a sad shame. We need more pointing at the elephant in the room. Here’s another – I SEE SAID THE BLIND MAN… Electric vehicles hold the ultimate authority in complete control power for the evil elite! How? Every feature of an electric vehicle can be monitorable and controllable by innate satellite connectivity. Doubt that? Just ask a Tesla engineer, not science fiction. A globalist dream fulfilled; If a person does not conform, electric vehicles can remotely be turned on or off or lock the occupants inside and be purposefully hijacked by an autonomous pilot which drives the vehicle holding the non-complying occupants to a detention facility. The electric vehicle swarm, once fully deployed by mandate "to save the planet", will become THE control tool of the global police state/great reset. “Skynet” is being rolled out in plain sight, disguised behind the “EV is good” front. Remember, some of us were saying on Day One…. Don’t get the damned EV. Don’t get the damned shot.

  2. I say leave their hands glued to the frame -as a reminder. As for Hinkley he gets a second 15 minutes
    on the 'ol Warhol clock..

  3. Hinckley should not be glorified. He should not be given any air time and his opinions on gun control should not be sought. He is mentally ill. We should not take anything he says seriously. Since he was freed, he should be living in the obscurity he deserves. But then he shouldn't be free, should he? The world is upside down.

  5. Don, J.B. White here (RattlerGator). Blogger for some reason won't let me post under my handle but, what the hell.

The glorification of this guy is going to make people re-think not hanging the man.

Once Twitter suspended me, Don, I kinda-sorta forced myself to pull back and scout around for different pathways of discussion, etc. In doing so I inadvertently put your site on the backburner.

Super glad to remember you today and see that you're still doing your thing.

  6. It's hard to understand what motivates these mass shooters or would be assassins like Hinkley. My first notion is they want fame and notoriety. The media will oblige as much as possible as Don's story illustrates. The parade shooter in Highlands Park is also enjoying a fair amount of publicity. As long as these murderers get this attention, more will likely follow.

Another even more important factor is the way gun crime and crime in general is treated in bigger cities and blue states. Police are leaving the force in droves when criminals are arrested on serious charges and released minutes later. If it's not leftist prosecutors, then it's the leftist judges letting criminals roam free. (see KJB)

My theory is the cabal in charge plan for gun crime to get so bad that enough people will eventually agree to gun confiscation. They are willing to wait for this idea even if it takes a few more generations.

    1. I think they want crime so bad, they can declare marshal law nationally. If I remember right, that actually suspends elections. I hate that.I've become so cynical.

  7. The FBI and the CIA had a role in it. Reagan's security was deliberatly breached. As with the Kennedy's and MLK it did not happen unless it was assisted and allowed to happen! Trump wasn't supposed to recover from Covid either. My guess is he is not running again because he realizes everything that they have tried has failed and that he will likely be assassinated.

    1. There was that peculiar connection between the Hinckleys and the Bushes. Big brother was Jeb Bush's roommate.
The "3 letter agencies" have been involved in some very bad business for a long time and are media protected. (Operation Mockingbird has never been mentioned much less discussed on MSM). This year we found out the FBI removed Malcolm X's security the night he was gunned down...with "Louis X" waiting in the wings to take over. (Farrakhan)

  9. Randy says: Also remember that Hinckley tried to kill Ronald Reagan, the Republican who started the MSM’s Derangement Syndrome series, even before the syndrome was given a name. So he was a media hero from the moment he pulled the trigger.

  11. Keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally ill is important. No person who voted for Xiden should be allowed to own a gun. Ever again.
If we had kept guns away from liberals, Alec Baldwin would have a zero body count today.
But alas, what other methods of population control do they have? Abortionists can only slaughter so many.

  12. I'll repost my comment since it didn't make the first time for whatever reason. Hinckley should not be glorified. He should not be interviewed and he should not make appearances on TV. He is mentally ill. We should not at all care about any of his thoughts on gun control. How nice that he has come around to gun control. (sarc). But he shouldn't be free, should he?

  13. Wonder how the Brady Campaign feels about Hinckley's coming out against firearms? Hinckley, after all, is responsible for the founding of it. Without him, they'd have to find something else to be against...

    1. I wonder why Hinkley wasn’t charged with Brady’s murder even though he passed many years hence. I do not think the criminally insane should be released ever if the statute of limitations on murder doesn’t expire.
