Don't duck with Futch farmers

Newsweek reported, "Over 30,000 Dutch farmers have risen in protest against the government in the wake of new nitrogen limits that require farmers to radically curb their nitrogen emissions by up to 70% in the next eight years. It would require farmers to use less fertilizer and even to reduce the number of their livestock. While large farming companies have the means to hypothetically meet these goals and can switch to non-nitrogen-based fertilizers, it is impossible for smaller, often family-owned farms. The new environmental regulations are so extreme that they would force many to shutter, including people whose families have been farming for three or four generations. In protest, farmers have been blockading streets and refusing to deliver their products to supermarket chains. It's been leading to serious shortages of eggs and milk, among other food items."

The Dutch farmers protest is impressive.

Dutch farmers are not gluing themselves to paintings. They are not a string of silly protesters sitting in the freeway.

No, they are driving their tractors on the freeway and shutting traffic down both ways.

They also shut down an airport.

Don't duck with Futch farmers.

Sometimes people will call out politicians and say, this is bullshit.

Dutch farmers use actual bullshit to win their argument.

Their spokesperson does not have purple or green hair.

They went with a good old-fashioned blonde.

Their army has no guns.

They go with what they got.

They got a lot.

It is a peaceful protest.

By men and women in large tractors.

Peaceful, but intimidating.

Dutch farmers are up against idiots with power. For some reason the EU wants to reduce nitrogen emissions from farms, even though most of the emissions are from cars and power plants.

I never thought anyone would top Seattle's refusal to use rock salt to clear snow-covered streets because the city feared the melting snow would run off and put too much salt water in the Pacific Ocean.

But I underestimated the stupidity of large groups of European bureaucrats. It is like a black hole swallowing another black hole.

The farmers seem to have the upper hand.

Newsweek reported, "The effects will be global. The Netherlands is the world's second largest agricultural exporter after the United States, making the country of barely 17 million inhabitants a food superpower. Given global food shortages and rising prices, the role of Dutch farmers in the global food chain has never been more important. But if you thought the Dutch government was going to take that into account and ensure that people can put food on the table, you would be wrong; when offered the choice between food security and acting against 'climate change,' the Dutch government decided to pursue the latter."

That Newsweek put climate change in scary quotes gives me hope that the media will finally give this ghost up.

    2. The Dutch parliament is elected every four years using a weighted system. Here we pick the idiot. There the people select which parties get to pick the idiots. Either way, the people voted.

  3. Dutch farmers are already causing food shortages in grocery stores in their own country. I say good! This is what the Canadian truckers should have done -- stopped deliveries to make their point. This is elites versus the people and it could be a deadly struggle. I know which side I am on.

  4. I think the proximity of Dutch farmers to the cities, has allowed them to be MUCH more effective than the Canadian truckers going to Ottowa and protest. Like every group want to 'meet in DC' to protest. Hit them where it hurts - in the belly....

  5. The Dutch ag market is around 82 billion annually, so we're not talking chump change by any stretch.
Unfortunately the government is gone globalist woke and ordered the police to shoot at the farmers (and boy are they). They're also looking at confiscating the farmers' land.
They're going to have to be more than inspirational, I think they need to harvest some of the woke parliamentarians through their combines.

You mean EU bureaucrats are going to turn into farmers and coax food out of the confiscated farmland? This I gotta' see. This is one of those situations where the rulers are screwing around with people who have nothing to lose - the most dangerous enemy one can have. I'd like to see a few of those huge tractors roll though an airport fence and wipe out an elitist's jet. Crush it into scrap. Would that message be received?

    2. They are using the regulations to impoverish the farmers. This leads to non-payment of taxes, then confiscated land. Land will then be developed for low income housing for "African & Asian" "immigrants".

    3. I guess that they will have to eat "African & Asian" immigrants then.

  7. There appears to be a coordinated worldwide effort going on to stop the use of fertilizer. A couple of months ago in Orlando, FL we got a notice that we could not fertilize our lawns using nitrogen for certain periods of the month. This was the first time ever that nitrogen has been prohibited here and then suddenly I see all of the protests in The Netherlands against their government banning nitrogen. I cannot put this down to mere coincidence and expect to hear nitrogen bans in many other locales in the near future. Something is definitely going on.

    1. I understand the possible ecological impact on lakes, etc but it seems very weird that only now in 2022 are they suddenly outlawing nitrogen on our lawns...coincidently at the exact moment that governments worldwide are doing the same to farmers.

    2. In the globalist world, there are no coincidences.

    4. I agree they are trying to limit fertilizer for the great reset. I am from Florida. The ban that hit Orange and Hillsborough counties this summer has been in effect for Pinellas, Manatee and other counties for over 5 years. It is to slow nitrogen run off into bodies of water. The run off causes algae blooms and the algae when it grows fast it uses up all the oxygen in the water and everything else dies.

    5. Nitrogen and nitrates are essential nutrients, but like anything, too much is as bad as too little. Synthetic nitrogen fertilizer does not process in the same way as animal manure. It needs to be carefully controlled when applied. Twenty years ago farmers were just learning how to use the stuff. The politicians are about thirty years behind the curve.

  10. "The Netherlands is the world's second largest agricultural exporter after the United States, making the country of barely 17 million inhabitants a food superpower."

I didn't know that. Seems the farmers have some significant leverage here. All they have to do is not back down. Easier said than done, I know, but the fate of free people everywhere may depend on it. If they succeed, it'll be repeated elsewhere. The elitists can't afford that, so the fight will be intense. It may come down to how the cops respond. Will they kill their own people? I know the cops here would. Relying on the Oath Keepers isn't a good strategy.

    1. Of course the cops will kill their own people ... as with the canadian truckers, Dutch farmers will ultimately fold and do what they're told ... Like all of us good little serfs.
