The reversal of Roe is a windfall to Woke companies. Elon Musk and the rest of the billionaire oligarchs figured out how to dump the cost of maternity leave, daycare and pediatric health benefits. All they have to do is offer free abortions to employees.
CNBC reported, "Target will cover employees’ travel if they live in a state where abortion is banned, according to a company memo obtained by CNBC.
"The new policy will take effect in July, according to the email, which was sent to employees Monday from Target’s Chief Human Resources Officer Melissa Kremer."
She made it sound so progressive.
She said, "For years, our healthcare benefits have included some financial support for travel, when team members needed select healthcare procedures that weren’t available where they live.
"A few months ago, we started re-evaluating our benefits with the goal of understanding what it would look like if we broadened the travel reimbursement to any care that’s needed and covered – but not available in the team member’s community. This effort became even more relevant as we learned about the Supreme Court’s ruling on abortion, given that it would impact access to health care in some states."
And like so many progressive policies, free abortion will hurt the very people it pretends to help. I have no problem with women who forego motherhood. Not every woman has a maternal instinct.
But I wonder how many of these women will become drones for their employers?
Amazon, JPMorgan Chase, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Rivian -- whom the story said also offer free abortions -- and Disney, Netflix, Goldman Sachs and Meta (all listed by the Guardian) are businesses that rely on cheap labor to make a profit. Substituting the office for the family is a neat trick.
Especially when you can minimize health costs.
My advice to young women is to take the abortion vacation without needing one. I am sure Hawaii has a clinic.
I suggest all the male employees identify as female, pregnant and in need of abortion. Remember, book your travel methods for tomorrow, tickets cost more that way.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea: An abortion vacation without an abortion. But my guess is that the company will want to see your abortion receipt. It is totally true that companies would rather pay for abortion than maternity leaves or benefits. But where do tomorrow's workers come from? Not all of our imports are qualified for some of many of these jobs. I call the women who opted only for their careers and no kids "corporate widows." In the end, many are sad about it. It is a struggle to have a career and kids. I did it and some of my efforts on all fronts left a lot to be desired. I don't know what the answer is and I have been seriously thinking about it and how I would have done things if there were such a thing as a do-over. The situation has also given me an idea for a work of fiction book.
ReplyDeleteRandy says: Yes, companies will probably want to see your abortion receipt. Sounds like a good pop-up business for someone in a blue state… Providing bogus abortion receipts for cash, like they did with bogus vax cards.
DeleteI expect that to happen.
DeleteWhat the beauty of this is there will be so many scammers, they can't keep track. and the Libs keep culling the herd as an added benefit.
DeleteLike I said, where are the future workers supposed to come from if there are no children?
DeleteThe future workers will mostly be made of metal and plastic and an entire factory will be operated by just a few people watching the dials and tv screens
DeleteInteresting that you focus on the women. What about the men who can't find a woman to be a mate because they're absorbed by their career and how they're going to advance meanwhile the man is having trouble getting any traction because certain levels of business requires a family and home and community that matches what the corporate rats want to show the world but there aren't any women so the guy can't advance.
DeleteWouldn't asking for a receipt violate the HIPA privacy rules?
Deletere: Future workers made of metal and plastic. Skynet will smile.
DeleteIt's screwed up for men and women. I focused on women because I am one and I have struggled with career and children. I am sure that men have, too. I know a few.
DeleteAnon - the whole thing is a massive HIPAA violation. Abortion is (was) one of the sacred cows of HIPAA privacy. I know this because I consulted on HIPAA security with some privacy thrown in.
DeleteIt won't be any more of a HIPAA issue than any current medical care covered by employee health insurance is. It all requires verification in order to be covered. And it is outsourced to third-party administrators, whom the employee has already ceded access to medical records by signing a HIPAA waiver.
DeleteRandy says: Here’s another list of companies that subsidize killing kids:

P.S. Can’t sign in with my name anymore. Sigh.
Welcome to the Borg.
ReplyDeleteTHE DECISION to bring a baby into this world makes NO SENSE from a purely economic standpoint. But it makes a TON OF SENSE if your focus is on eternal things and not Mammon. I pity the gays and lesbians who never got to experience what I have. Like, the night we went to Pickin In The Panhandle to see CDB (Charlie Daniels Band) and then went out and won the Member-Guest at The Woods the next day. It was EDGE. It was AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteWhat does EDGE mean?
DeleteYou know…the guitarist for U2. Like, livin on the edge…
DeleteChildren carry ALL the potential of our country and planet . Without random mixing of genetics our future will be bleak .
DeleteNice job on the MG Z. Hope there was a big ole Calcutta that won you a boatload. Playing in MG next week in OC, MD
DeleteMy gay cousin and his "husband" have 4 kids, two sets of twins. Amazing what surrogate motherhood can accomplish.
DeleteI would think ANY medical disclosures would be a HIPPA violation. Since we now have a Supreme that can't define a woman, there should be no arguments. Start with tampons in the men's room, and this where you end up.
ReplyDeleteNope. The company as the plan administrator has full rights to all details of medical procedures covered under their health care plan. HIPAA does not apply.
DeleteThose Corps are forgetting that the men are very much aware of the balance that imbalance and will find ways to balance what isn't. And men are easier to please.
ReplyDeleteIt has been my experience that men are easier to please.
DeleteYeah.
DeleteWe're not complicated at all .

You might have another problem, ladies. You see if you have to travel by air there's a pilot problem brought to you by the same communist crowd that wants you to abort your offspring. Take a flight at your own risk. Your pilot might suffer mid-air blood clotting which is always a risk at high altitude but has become downright terrifying after they were forced to get the covid stab. By the same people who tell you you have the bodily autonomy to kill your unborn. So you'll be traveling to destroy your child because it's your body or something but the guy taking you there might crash the plane because he was told he has no right to refuse the government's control over his body.
ReplyDeleteAdd on that air travel for pregnant women is problematic already. Aircraft at high altitude run oxygen slightly-deficient. When my wife was pregnant, she was told not to fly after 6 months pregnant.
DeleteI make more then $12,000 a month online. It’s enough to comfortably replace my old jobs income, especially considering I only work about 11 to 12 hours a week from home. I was amazed how easy it was after I tried it…
ReplyDeleteAND GOOD LUCK.:)
