PR firm goes from Woke to Nope

Judd Legum's headline did not do the story justice. It said, "PR giant advising corporate clients to stay silent on abortion rights."

The PR company -- Zeno -- is not just a giant but a Woke Giant. Its clientele includes other Woke Giants such as Coke, Netflix and Starbucks.

You remember Coke, right? It is that bottled fizzy water company that exhorted its employees to "try to be less white," a corporate racism that Florida banned last month

49 other states should follow suit.

Zeno is woke. Kevin McCauley profiled the company in March, writing:

Zeno Shoots for Higher Purpose

Zeno Group scored a 39.9% surge in 2021 revenues to $118.9M as it captured 85 major new business wins and its Top Ten clients hiked spending about 40%.

"Never more so than over the last year, when global forces required businesses to think and act differently, Zeno fully demonstrated what's known to be true — companies that embody a higher purpose are stronger and more impactful, inside and out," said CEO Barby Siegel.

Beyond growing its revenues base, Zeno wants to be measured for making a positive impact on people's lives.

"The firm used pandemic 2021 to realize more deeply who Zeno is, why it exists and the firm's desired impact," said Siegel.

The goal is to "champion the courageous to achieve something better for humankind."

6 weeks later, Zeno junked all that Marxist marketing and told CEOs to STFU about social issues.

The new buzz phrase is try to be less woke. The PR firm is advising CEOs of their right to remain silent on abortion.

Legum reported that Zeno's Katie Cwayna sent an email to the Woke, saying, "Do not take a stance you cannot reverse, especially when the decision is not final. This topic is a textbook 50/50 issue. Subjects that divide the country can sometimes be no-win situations for companies because regardless of what they do they will alienate at least 15% to 30% of their stakeholders… Do not assume that all of your employees, customers or investors share your view."

Legum ended the column, "(While Cwayna claims overturning Roe is a 50/50 issue, 72% of Americans oppose overturning Roe, according to a January poll by Marquette Law School.)"

While he could not bring himself to explain why Zeno suddenly went from Woke to Nope, we all know why.

That's right. The company tried to bully Florida legislators into defeating the Don't Groom Kids bill with threats of withholding campaign donations.

But DeSantis pushed back and pushed Disney over. Not only are teachers banned from talking about sex to pre-pubescent kids under this new law but Disney World lost its exemption to most state laws and most state taxes. The Magic Kingdom is no longer above the law in Florida.

On top of that, Republicans may let Disney's copyright on Mickey Mouse expire in 2024 -- 40 years after it originally was supposed to end.

Disney's support of letting LGBT teachers recruit kids has forever tainted its products as pedo friendly.

The message is clear. Don't want none, don't start none.

Zeno has gone from Woke to Let Sleeping Dogs Lie in just 6 weeks.

Thank you, Florida.

  1. The message is clear. Don't want none, don't start none.

That’s just BEAST, Don. PURE BEAST.

  2. If memory serves me right, a lot of copyrights are renewed for what seems like forever. Let's sing 'Happy Birthday' to America in two months. Oh, sorry, still copyrighted.

    1. Patent attorneys have all kinds of tricks to keep the ball rolling on patents and trademarks.

  3. Can you believe CEOs need to have this explained to them? And, these dumb asses are running huge, multinational companies. It's like empty-headed celebrities hiring consultants to tell them what to think. "Tell me what I'm supposed to think about abortion." Or, "Tell me again why I'm supposed to hate Trump." Incredible.

    1. Businessmen are like the Hekawis, Jeffery, they ain't mad at nobody, so, if some 20 year old tells them people will go ballistic if they don't call their target group all the right pronouns because all the RCP polls say so, they tend to buy it.

    2. Right. Like I said, they're dumb asses who probably get their market research from their dumb ass, middle school children, or the equivalent.

  4. It used to be, if a TV net got a letter, it meant 1000 people felt the same way. The Lefties, with all their mailing lists, used it like a club.

    Now it's our club.

  5. Disney stock (DIS) has gone from around $190 a year ago to $110 a share this week. It's lost about 65% of it's value in the past six months. You would think the stock-holders would have something to say about the lack of fiduciary responsibility by corporate the board.

  6. Trademarks don't expire. Copyrights do.

  7. So let me get this strait (pardon the pun). GBLT make up maybe 2% of the country but woke corporations are free to force their woke crap down the 98% throat
But abortion is a 50%/50% issue so leave it alone. So ok to offend 98% but not 50%. Got it. Glad I left advertising business 25 years ago!

  8. I get paid more than $90 to $100 per hour for working online. I heard about this job 3 months ago and after joining this I have earned easily $10k from this without having online working skills . Simply give it a shot on the accompanying site…

    Here is I started.……… WWW.FULJOBZ.COM
