How to end the slaughter

The number of deaths had not been counted and no parent had been notified but that did not stop Senator Chris Murphy from seizing the tragedy in Texas to advance his Marxist agenda.

Murphy is the Democrat senator from Connecticut who didn't lie about serving in Vietnam.

His screed, punctuated by a barnyard version of manure, railed that we must pass something -- some legislation -- in order to magically protect kids from assailants. Never mind facts such as Congress already made schools a gun-free zone. Never mind that we have had gun control for 54 years. Never mind that these laws failed to stop the gunman. This smug self-righteous senator railed on and on.

I agree with one statement he made: "As the slaughter increases, as our kids run for their lives, we do nothing."

But the slaughter I refer to is not in Uvalde, Texas. It is in Chicago and other hellholes for children controlled by Democrats.

The slaughter is daily. It is near schools, hospitals and subways and in the parks. The slaughter comes in cities with strict (and even unconstitutional) bans on firearms. The slaughter comes because Democrats don't care. Half the victims are black males, a group that Democrats still care little about. Black males are the most endangered people in America.

The safest group in America are white women. They make up over 30% of the population but only 10% of the murder victims.

Black males are 7% of the population but 49% of the murder victims.

Black males are 21 times as likely to be murdered as a white woman. The reason is clear. The media and the politicians value a white woman's life more than they do a black male.

If Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago, Democrat Mayor Eric Adams or Democrat Mayor Brandon Scott of Baltimore cared about black males, they would shut down their cities like they did with covid 19 until all those murders stopped. But they don't care. Adams and Scott don't care and they are black males.

As for the media, when someone murders a white woman in a big city, it becomes the lead story on TV that night. There are press conferences by the police chief and the mayor, interviews of the victim's family and a tipline number to help solve this mystery.

The story will end with, "In other news, five people were shot over the weekend. Next up is Janice Dean, the weather machine, to help you plan your morning drive."

Nothing more will be said. Unless one of the five murder victims is a child or not a black male, that's it. Their deaths are just part of a segue from the OMG a white woman was murdered story to the weather.

8,469 black men were murdered in 2020.

There is only one way to reduce the number of murders of black men in big cities. Treat their murders the way we treat the murder of a white woman. Have the police chief and the mayor hold press conferences for each murder. Have the media interview the victim's family and friends. Have a tipline and offer a reward for information leading to the arrest of the murderer.

Gun laws are useless.

Getting to the "root cause" of crime has been expensive and useless.

We should go with what works: Publicity, determination to find the culprit, and lengthy prison sentences.

Senator Murphy's outrage will do nothing but help him get elected. Considering his is one of the safest seats in the Senate, the speech was as useful as a bikini in a snowstorm.

It is time to put emotion aside and do the one thing that I guarantee will reduce the murder rate in America: treat the victims equally.

  1. Don, with all due respect you omitted the timely execution of murderers. That's the surest way to ensure they will never murder again.

    2. It's OK to kill anyone who threatens children with a firearm on school property.

  2. They took God out of schools, set schools up as shooter-safe no gun zones, fail to prosecute the perps with meaningful punishment, and they have the nerve to wonder why this happens. They disgust me.

I went to high school in the '70s in a South Texas county where the cattle outnumbered the people the better part of a thousand to one. Highway US77 was a major drug thoroughfare and ran through the middle of my town. Drugs - especially pot - were everywhere.

We prayed before sporting events. We prayed before school functions. We had gun racks in our pick up trucks. We had guns in the gun racks - on school campus.

We had no shootings/knifings while I was in high school. Not one.

Now, they have cops patrol the hallways.

    1. I went to high school in the 70s, too. Drugs were everywhere and kids could smoke in class, but there was none of the violence because they basically knew what was right and wrong. There were social norms that you didn't cross or go against. I don't even recognize what goes on in schools at this time.

    2. I have posted almost the same thing - except for the drugs - many times! I always post that it's NOT the GUNS that have changed - it's SOCIETY! And WHO has caused the most devastation to NORMAL society?? Our BEST control to pass would be DEMOcrat control!

  3. Don, I do agree with your column. But I still think you need to find the root cause(s), which is usually mental illness and a broken family. I know that would change nothing, but at least it's part of an answer.

    2. This is starting to look more and more like the Parkland shooting in Florida where police waited around for almost an hour before going in. Watch the heartbreaking video of parents crying and wailing and asking cops to go in the school. Sickening.

  5. Excellent post and comments. Agree the media should put a spotlight on the black on black murders.

They must also stop the massive publicity the killer gets for these mass killings. They want to die in a blaze of glory. They are nobody’s in life, and want to be a somebody. I know it’s a pipe dream, but if they don’t give them publicity, they lose some of their incentive.

Also, the No gun zones must be eliminated. Armed teachers and administrators could have done something during the 40 or so minutes the killer was in the school.

    1. Best way to stop murders is swift , relentless execution . The most effective way of doing this is exactly as Jeremy stated above : " short sentence , shorter rope , tall tree " . Consequences are damned effective .

  6. Nicely done. These are the morons that defunded the cops last year and want to blame somebody else for Uvalde.

Was it mentioned that was a gun free zone?

  10. Let's keep in mind that a large percent of the Black Men killed were most likely criminals or engaged in criminal activity with the shooter and an argument ensued. Those guys I have no pity for. As to children and other bystanders that get shot during one of these altercations those I do have a lot of care and concern. They didn't deserve that. What I can't understand is why the Black community doesn't gather together and put a stop to the criminal activity at the root of all the shootings. They marched over Rosa Parks not getting to sit where she wanted. Surely they could march start calling the cops on people who are selling death on the streets either doing it wholesale or retail. And if it's being done by people backed by Whites or one of our security agencies then bring that out to be discussed and investigated. Another thing to do would be to boycott the news readers. Make them understand there's people dying as the point of their story and it needs to stop. I keep saying we need criminal control and until the POC don't start making it more difficult to be one then it will continue.
