War saves Putin, Zelensky and CNN

Economy got you down? Are people chanting F-bombs at you? Do polls show only 21.8% of your countrymen would re-elect you despite widespread support two years ago?

Well, bub, have I got good news for you. All you need is a war. The Russo-Ukraine War has been very, very good to Putin, Zelensky and CNN.

Just last July, Zelensky was on the ropes. He was doing worse than Biden at the time.

EU Observer reported, "President Volodymyr Zelensky has begun the third year of his presidency mired in mid-term unpopularity with a poll published last month showing that only 21.8% of Ukrainians would vote to re-elect him.

"More than half would prefer him not even to run for a second term.

"It's a steep decline from the 73% support that swept him to power so dramatically two years ago and a measure of bad voters think he has done to deliver on his promises of change."

But the invasion of his country and the destruction if city after city have made him a rock star. On Sunday night he appeared at the Grammys via a video. All hail the Conquered Hero. Anti-military lefties are suddenly gung-ho about war -- as long as they do not have to fight it.

We will see how they feel about it next year.

Then there is Putin. His popularity hit 83%.

That's pretty good for a fellow who invaded a country and then saw his army chewed up by a smaller force. His economy also is in tatters, although to be fair his 20 years of rule have kept his country down.

But the economic sanctions that Biden and company imposed on Russia provide a good excuse for empty store shelves and the like. Never mind that the sanctions hurt the NATOsphere harder than it hit Russia. The sanctions are the dog that ate Putin's homework.

As for Biden, he is blaming Bidenflation on Putin. So far the public is not buying it. What matters is how the public feels a month before the election.

War of course helps defense contractors, which helps the generals because they all want to cash in as consultants when they retire.

The war is even helping to save CNN.

Deadline reported that in the first quarter -- January, February and March -- CNN's ratings rose.

The story said, "Fox News averaged 2.86 million viewers in primetime, up 19% from the same month a year earlier. MSNBC averaged 1.28 million, down 29%, and CNN averaged 1.22 million, up 1%."

1% growth is negligible but it beats the 29% plunge at MSNBC. Maddow's sabbatical is costing the fake news channel bigly.

War. What is it good for? Absolutely plenty!

This war is such a mess that Putin, Zelensky and Biden should be gone by now. But the first two have rebounded, and Biden is getting good marks on the war right now.

War is very good -- except to the thousands maimed or killed.

And the million of displaced persons.

But the politicians and the media make out like bandits because, well, they are bandits.

  1. Yes, the politicians and the media are bandits, if not worse. The victims are the displaced people who didn't ask for war but got it anyway.

  2. That "circle back" loot for the politicians keeps the USA spigot turned on.

  3. Starting to believe what I read a few weeks ago -- that part of this war was manufactured by Fed Deep State. Read an interesting perspective yesterday, that no one wants a clear-cut Ukraine victory.

    1. Strategically that is correct. We want Putin to smash and smash and try and try and not clearly take Ukraine. We have lots of troops in Romania, Poland and the Baltics - and then of course still in Germany. We do not want to have our troops killing Russians. If we do engage Russians, it will go really bad for Russia, and that has some scary scenarios for what Putin would do next.

SO yes, we want the war to kind of stalemate. And we don't care how many people die in the process.

  4. I'm sure Fox is doing well, too, and Zelensky is standing up for his country, for a change.

As for Poot, who knows what the home folks really think IYKWIMAITYD?

That's pretty good for a fellow who invaded a country and then saw his army chewed up by a smaller force.

I told you he didn't have enough men to win. 3 to 1 or go home.

Biden is getting good marks on the war right now.

From whom? Last I looked, he's still dropping like a stone.

  5. This stuff still makes my head hurt.

Zelensky has become a rock star and the glitterati love him.

Xiden is still a doddering fool and replacing him with Heels Up would be a bigger disaster.

When we can trust almost no one in the federal government, my default is to be against anything they are for. With the Ukraine situation, I am sure all of the usual suspects are getting richer.

    1. *elensky and FJB are cut from the same cloth.

Yep, I don't trust our government any more, and questioning authority is a virtue.

    2. The pandemic finished any trust I had in government or institutions.

    3. Your head may be hurtin` ; but there ain't nothing wrong with your reasoning and subsequent deductions !

  6. Ain’t it funny, Big D? You and I, who both served, are now the biggest critics of this “war.” And my younger brothers are all in on this bullshite. They didn’t serve. Holy Shite…

    1. “I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. ..."
― Smedley D. Butler, War is a Racket

    2. The Business Plot was an alleged political conspiracy in 1933 in the United States to overthrow the government of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and install a dictator. Retired Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler asserted that wealthy businessmen were plotting to create a fascist veterans' organization with Butler as its leader and use it in a coup d'état to overthrow Roosevelt. Although no one was prosecuted, the congressional committee final report said, "there is no question that these attempts were discussed, were planned, and might have been placed in execution when and if the financial backers deemed it expedient."

  7. No doubt there is fighting in Ukraine, but the news people are given from both sides of the conflict is pure propaganda. Putin may or may not have good reason for invading, but on "our" side it's all about the Benjamins - for politicians, the media, and the military/industrial complex.

  8. Don dont believe everything you read from the the US press they lie, all the time. Russia has gotten almost everything it wanted from this war. destroy the US dollar check, destroy the US biolabs check, reveal the US president is a war monger, check. the damage to Russia will be far less than expected IMO

  9. I get paid over 190$ per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I'd be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Heres what I've been doing..
    :) AND GOOD LUCK.:)
