Picked to deliver the Republican response to Biden's bewildering State of the Union address, Reynolds gave her party and her country direction when she said, "Republicans believe that parents matter."
This was the main theme of her rebuttal.
She hit the mask mandates and other nonsense hard when she said, "Americans are tired of a political class trying to remake this country into a place where an elite few tell everyone else what they can and cannot say. What they can and cannot believe.
"They're tired of people pretending the way to end racism is by categorizing everybody by their race.
"They're tired of politicians who tell parents they should sit down, be silent, and let government control their kids' education and future.
"Frankly, they're tired of the theater. Where politicians do one thing when the cameras are rolling and another when they believe you can't see them."
That is the real state of the union. We are led by phonies. These hypocrites laugh in our faces and rub our noses in their slime.
She swung for the fences and connected when she said, "It seems like everything is backwards. The Biden Administration requires vaccines for Americans who want to go to work or protect this country but not for migrants who illegally cross the border.
"The Department of Justice treats parents like domestic terrorists but looters and shoplifters roam free.
"The American people are left to feel like they're the enemy."
Reading that, I almost stood up and cheered.
The heartland has a voice and it is clear-throated and loud.
She said, "Iowa was the first state in the nation to require that schools open their doors. I was attacked by the left; I was attacked by the media. But it wasn't a hard choice. It was the right choice.
"And keeping schools open is only the start of the pro-parent, pro-family revolution that Republicans are leading in Iowa and states across this country.
"Republicans believe that parents matter. It was true before the pandemic and has never been more important to say out loud: Parents Matter.
"They have a right to know, and to have a say in, what their kids are being taught.
"Families also have every right to live in a safe and secure community. And that begins with a safe and secure country."
She speaks as someone who lives in America, not Washington.
She said, "Republicans may not have the White House. But we're doing what we can to fill the leadership vacuum. On the issues that are affecting Americans, Republicans are leading.
"We are standing up for parents and kids; we're standing up for life. We're keeping our communities safe and thanking those in uniform. We're fighting to restore America's energy independence, including biofuels. We're getting people back to work, not paying them to stay home. Most of all, we're respecting your freedom."
The Reagan Revolution lives on 42 years after his election as president. The RINOs and Democrats keep putting us down, but we rise again and again: the Gingrich Revolution in 1994, the Tea Party in 2010, and the election of Trump in 2016.
Americans must stand up for their rights. Parents matter means a little more than that. It means we the people matter. We're in charge, not Washington.
Her presidential hopes are somewhere between few and none. At 62, she is unlikely to be nominated as VP.
But she provided frustrated and ignored Americans with a rally cry.
Parents matter.
We do.
I caught part of her speech on Fox. I didn't know who she was and thought she couldn't possibly be an R in Washington. Turns out she is Iowa's governor. (I didn't know that.) She gave a great speech. She absolutely provided Rs and voters with a rallying cry. But will the Republicans actually heed her advice?
ReplyDeleteShe's parroting the Left's description of the Ukraine fiasco ...
Delete"and now Russia has launched an unprovoked full-scale military invasion of Ukraine—an attack on democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. "
Nonsense.
https://kunstler.com/clusterfuck-nation/dont-look-now-2/
There is nothing about Ukraine that represents true liberal democracy.
"The current CIA-approved narrative wants you to believe that Vlad Putin seeks to reassemble the old Soviet Union and will move next to capture the Baltic States: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania. I doubt this since all those countries have their own cultures rather emphatically hostile to Russia and required onerous operating subsidies from Moscow back in the Soviet day. Ukraine will surely be enough of a burden for Russia going forward.
An alternate narrative to the CIA’s scare story would follow the Occam’s Razor rule that the simplest explanation is probably the truth — namely, that there was no other way to stop Ukraine’s shelling and mortar attacks against the ethnic Russian population in the Donbas which, by the way, was carried out with US-gifted armaments. And there was no other way to disabuse the USA from the idea that Ukraine should join NATO and thereby become a missile launching base on Russia’s border." - James Howard Kubstler
RC, can anybody name a good guy in this mess? The common folk of Russia and Ukraine are paying a steep price for globalist ambition.
DeleteWho benefits? Zou Xiden gets a much needed distraction. Canada's Turdball is the same situation
Maybe we should ignore the screaming distractions and look to see what bank is getting robbed. This is a big move to prop up two mega failures and there were plenty of other ways to deal with the palistidiot style shelling.
There are trillions at stake.
I was looking and listening to her speech from the point of view of what her message is to American voters. Everybody's take on Ukraine (or nearly) is likely to be off.

“If Climate Change is not the Number One Issue on your list, then kiss my ass.”
ReplyDelete- Joe Biden’s SOTU as interpreted by ZRegime
Climate Change remains the primary means of collapsing the middle class while funneling money to communist China.
DeleteWith WooHooFloo a close second…
DeleteOnly if they want to win and are not corrupted by corporate, China, and other foreign money.
ReplyDeleteWikipedia lays out her story factually: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Reynolds .
ReplyDeleteReluctant to comment since I didn't see or hear her address, but it sounds like she's an outside the beltway Republican. The senate majority leader would only sliver back into his shell and girly man Graham would only shriek like a 7th grade girl. Someone was smart to choose her for this job.
ReplyDeleteBut she was chosen, and the people involved in the selection process are swamp critters.
DeleteExactly! The best Republican response to the SOTU was Marjorie Taylor Green! She knocked it out of the park, and only a few so-called Conservative Media is showing her speech. As far as I'm concerned, her speech was the only one that told the truth about the state of the Union!
DeleteHmmmmm I didn't see this topic in the latest RNC beggin' letter before I threw it away.
ReplyDeleteAlmost with I had heard her speak. I will make do with this fine recap.
ReplyDeleteWe need a LOT more republicans speaking these truths.
Yes, you do. You need Republican candidates who actually want to serve their voters and get things done.
DeleteI don’t think 62 is too old for a VP and would take her over No-em When You See ‘em or Tricky Nikki in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteTPHM. Two parent households matter. Just look at Chicago for proof!
ReplyDeleteKeep preaching it brother. GOD intended children to have a father and a mother raising them.
DeleteThis is literally the only argument needed to win the next election. The hard part is winning the election after that one.
ReplyDeleteThank you Governor Reynolds. You've been amazing! Last year I called her office to tell her so. You'd think they'd never had a compliment.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, they're tired of the theater. Where politicians do one thing when the cameras are rolling and another when they believe you can't see them.
ReplyDeleteOf course, this applies to a lot of Whigs.
"Families also have every right to live in a safe and secure community. And that begins with a safe and secure country."
ReplyDeleteActually it begins with a safe and secure home and neighborhood. [If everybody swept their own front porch the whole world would be spotless]
Don, the US and the world are governed by absolute morons.
ReplyDelete[ JOIN US ] I am making a good salary from home $6580-$7065/week , which is amazing under a year ago I was jobless in a horrible economy. I thank God every day I was blessed with these instructions and now it’s my duty to pay it forward and share it with Everyone
ReplyDeleteThis is what I do...... ๐๐๐.๐๐๐๐๐๐๐.๐๐๐
How we can all believe in one doctrine as described by the governor but be told the party needs to be a bigger tent with room for all views?
ReplyDeleteDoD as you know 62 is the new 52 so don't rule out her age, the other thing is, the reason republicans are directionless is because Mitch and McCarthy don t want to win and will do everything they can to keep themselves in the minority
ReplyDelete
