Macgregor: Zelensky is no hero

Retired Colonel Douglas Macgregor dared to tell Stuart Varney on Fox Business News that we should not hail Zelensky as a hero.

Liz Cheney tweeted, "Douglas Macgregor, nominated by Trump as ambassador to Germany; appointed by Trump as senior advisor to the Secretary of Defense, says Russian forces have been 'too gentle' and 'I don’t see anything heroic' about Zelensky.

"This is the Putin wing of the GOP."

And there it is: name-calling instead of an answer to a legitimate question of why are we siding with Ukraine.

The only person to actually try to give an answer to that was Kamala, who said, "So, Ukraine is a country in Europe. It exists next to another country called Russia. Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine. So, basically, that’s wrong, and it goes against everything that we stand for."

She tried.

Macgregor said Ukraine is not our concern.

Via Carmine Sabia, Macgregor said, "The first five days, Russian forces I think, frankly, were too gentle. They’ve now corrected that. So I would say another 10 days, this should be completely over. But the question is, what is it that Zelensky is going to do? The Russians have made it very clear what they want is a neutral Ukraine. This could’ve ended days ago if he accepted that. And then they can adjust the borders, but the eastern part of Ukraine is firmly in Russian hands, but again, the Russians are not seizing territory. They’re destroying Ukrainian forces. That’s their focus."

Varney said, "Colonel, it sounds like you don’t approve of Zelensky’s stand."

Macgregor said, "Oh, I think Zelensky is a puppet. And he is putting huge numbers of his own population at unnecessary risk, and quite frankly, most of what comes out of Ukraine is debunked as lies within 24 to 48 hours. The notions of taking and retaking airfields, all of this is nonsense. It hasn’t happened."

Varney said, "He’s not a hero? He’s standing up for himself and his own people. You don’t think he’s a hero?"

Macgregor said, "No, I do not. I don’t see anything heroic about the man. And I think the most heroic thing that he can do right now is to come to terms with reality. Neutralize Ukraine. This is not a bad thing. A neutral Ukraine would be good for us as well as for Russia. It would create the buffer that, frankly, both sides want. But he’s, I think, being told to hang on and try to drag this out, which is tragic for the people that have to live through this."

Varney said, "I am inclined to disagree with you, colonel, but, you know, we’ll see how this works out."

Macgregor makes more sense to me than Vindman and the rest.

Readers may wonder why I am not accepting the NATO narrative on the Russo-Ukraine War.

Let us review, shall we?

If you dare question global warming (recently renamed climate change), they say you are for pollution and corporate greed.

If you dare question Obamacare, they say you must want people to die.

If you dare question how Biden got so many mail-in votes, they say you are an insurrectionist.

If you dare question BLM, they say you are a racist.

And if you dare question the validity of masks, vax and social distancing, they say you want people to die again this time from covid.

The pattern is clear. Any time you question them, they call you names instead of answering the question.

On top of that, their solutions never solve the problem. Replacing cars with electric cars results in big batteries "that have high environmental costs."

Obamacare did not make health insurance cheaper.

Not reviewing the election results has increased public skepticism and reduced public confidence in voting.

Following the BLM riots, the murders of black men soared.

And of course, all those mandated precautions did little to slow -- let alone stop -- the spread of covid.

Now if you dare question the West's sudden support for Ukraine, they say you are a puppet for Putin.

The propaganda campaign on this one is so good that polls show three-quarter of Americans want the USA to shoot down Russian aircraft over Ukraine. That's an act of war. Three-fourths of the nation are willing to risk World War 3 over a racketeer influenced corrupt government.

Some of the militia members are actual neo-Nazis.

We are only hearing one side to this story. Zelensky got to speak in private to 300 members of Congress and senior staffers on Saturday morning. That is incredible access. 

Of course, he's pleading to Congress directly because the Biden administration is not doing his bidding. It said no to a No Fly Zone.

Victor Davis Hanson noticed lefties who propped Putin up in the past are rabid in their sudden support of freedom.

VDH wrote, "How surreal the Left has become. From Hillary Clinton’s 2009 reset to Barack Obama’s hot mic buffoonery, to blankets for Ukraine and applause for Biden’s recent request that Russia pump more oil and hack only approved U.S. companies and institutions, the Left repeatedly has appeased Putin. Yet now the Left accuses its critics of pro-Putin pacifist sympathies! It is almost as if after spending a decade ensuring a Russian invasion of Ukraine and refusing to pump more oil and gas, the schizophrenic Left now wishes to risk a pre-midterm nuclear showdown." 

The Cuban missile crisis worked for JFK in 1962.

Let us not fall for this.

Let us learn from Afghanistan and Iraq. Wars are easy to get into, hard to win, and impossible to keep any gains.

Instead of sending Zelensky more ammo, how about we send him a battalion of peace negotiators?
