NYC: Commit crime, do no time

With the rich and even AOC fleeing to Florida, Democrats are propping up its one growth industry.

Crime.

As the Baretta theme song never said: Go do the crime 'cause you won't do the time. Go do it.

The Daily Mail reported, "Crime statistics published by the NYPD show shootings, murders and auto grand larceny have all nearly doubled while murder is up 50% in the city compared to 2019 as of December 5.

"There have been 1,470 shootings, 443 murders and 9,595 cases of auto grand larceny, according to the latest data for the year."

Well, a new DA in Manhattan -- its first openly black! DA -- should clean that right up. Right?

The New York Post reported, "Manhattan DA to stop seeking prison sentences in slew of criminal cases."

Oh my.

The story said, "In his first memo to staff on Monday, Alvin Bragg said his office 'will not seek a carceral sentence' except with homicides and a handful of other cases, including domestic violence felonies, some sex crimes and public corruption."

Some sex crimes.

A city where Asians and Jews routinely get mugged by racist hooligans and thugs voted to stop imprisoning people.

This follows allowing violent criminals to waltz out of jail without bail.

This is the movie Blazing Saddles come to life. Hedley Lamarr told Taggart, "I want you to round up every vicious criminal and gunslinger in the west. Take this down.

"I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers..."

Unlike the movie, there is no black sheriff to save the town. Instead, he wants to burn the town down.

While Zero Hedge blames George Soros for this DA, Manhattanites elected him. The elitists in their skyscraper apartments think they are immune to street crime. Carjackers won't give a pass on your Rolls Royce.

Via Zero Hedge, the new DA's memo says:

  • Armed robbers who use guns or other deadly weapons to stick up stores and other businesses will be prosecuted only for petty larceny, a misdemeanor, provided no victims were seriously injured and there’s no “genuine risk of physical harm” to anyone. Armed robbery, a class B felony, would typically be punishable by a maximum of 25 years in prison, while petty larceny subjects offenders to up to 364 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
  • Convicted criminals caught with weapons other than guns will have those felony charges downgraded to misdemeanors unless they’re also charged with more serious offenses. Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, is punishable by up to 7 years behind bars.
  • Burglars who steal from residential storage areas, parts of homes that aren’t “accessible to a living area” and businesses located in mixed-use buildings will be prosecuted for a low-level class D felony that only covers break-ins instead of for more serious crimes. Those more serious crimes, class B and class C felonies, would be punishable by up to 25 and up to 15 years in prison respectively.
  • Drug dealers believed to be “acting as a low-level agent of a seller” will be prosecuted only for misdemeanor possession. Also, suspected dealers will only be prosecuted on felony charges if they’re also accused of more serious crimes or are actually caught in the act of selling drugs. That felony would mean facing up to seven years behind bars.

The DA refuses to uphold the law. He is giving a prosecutor's veto in which an armed robbery that the law says carries a 25-year sentence becomes a misdemeanor carrying less than a year in jail.

Poof!

Just like that state law is changed by a DA who wants to go after Wall Street instead of protecting the streets. Obama appointed him to the U.S. attorney's office when Preet Bharara headed the office. Interestingly, no white-collar criminal CEOs went to prison. Instead their companies paid fines that were then disbursed by Obama to Democrat-friendly "charities."

How far New York has fallen since the days of Rudy Giuliani, who as a federal prosecutor put the mob in prison. Democrats never forgave them for that because crime pays Democrats.

If it didn't, this new DA would be singing a different tune and Democrat city upon Democrat city would not be a crime-ridden hellhole.

Moving to another state is scary but you have to look out for yourself.

Escape From New York is no longer a movie.

It is the only option left.

  1. My lord, new Yorkers are stupid. The out moving rate was bad before. It will be a ghost town in 2 years.

  2. But while criminals who use guns will be charged with a misdemeanor, you can bet that law-abiding citizens who defend themselves with a gun will be prosecuted to the greatest extent.

  5. Mayors and Police Chiefs can do little to reduce crime if the DA has other priorities. We hear now that some cities have reversed course on this "Defund the Police" idea. Even so, even with beefed up police forces crime won't abate until the Soros DA's are gone. Yes the voters put these people into office, but it was Soros type money that paid for all the billboards, TV and radio ads, social media presence, etc. These things have a big impact on average to low information voters.

    1. ...and why GOP should make vote integrity a #1 priority. Make it as difficult to vote as it is to purchase a hand gun! We need LESS people voting not more! Idiots.

  6. Better pray that these same brain dead voters who elected people like this DON"T bring their same ignorance south to the red states. North Carolina and Georgia already seeing this shift towards blue.....

  7. This applies only to Manhattan. The other four boroughs, which have 80% of the city's population, have their own DAs. New Mayor Adams says he is going to crack down on crime. There should be some interesting confrontations between the two men. This comes as Long Island voters swept Republicans into county offices, including DAs.

    1. I heard yesterday from someone in NY that prime
real estate is more expensive in Brooklyn than in Manhattan. Don’t know if it’s true or not, but the way it is trending, it will be soon enough. No sympathy for the elites.

    3. Z, more like Paul Kersey. Sadly, Charles Bronson, who would turn 100 this year is no longer dispatching criminals.

  9. I do believe it's called malfeasance and you go to jail for it.

This is why Committees of vigilance were formed.

  10. Malfeasance is no longer a crime in Manhattan. It's a job description.
