Nancy is why Dems are leaving the House

We have not completed the first week in the new year and already 25 Democrats have announced they will not seek re-election this year.

That is the most Democrats to quit in 26 years. You have to go back to 1996 when 29 Democrats decided to term limit themselves.

They are on pace to shatter that modern record.

Brenda Lawrence of Southfield, Michigan, became the 25th Democrat to quit after this year, She said, "This year marks my 30th year in elected public service, and I’ve had the good fortune of serving Michiganders on the local and national level. After reflecting on my journey & having conversations with my family, I’m announcing that I will not be seeking re-election to Congress."

Politico said that redistricting put her in a district with Democrat Debbie Dingell. Michigan has sent a Dingell to Congress for 90 years (father, son, and now widow).

At 67, Lawrence can retire on state and federal pensions for holding public office. (Don't get me started on the constitutionality of pensions for politicians.)

The wave of resignations does not mean Republicans will pick up those 25 seats.

In 1996, Democrats held 19 of the 29 open seats their retirees held.

And every decline of a re-election paints a different story. 8 of the 25 are seeking a higher office.

But you have to wonder how fun the job is. The House Speaker is a bullying witch obsessed with Trump. She couldn't handle his two State of the Union speeches. She made clapped back, made faces, and even tore up one of his speeches. She has impeached him twice and is bound and determined to prosecute him.

All the votes are strictly along party lines in the hyper-partisan House. If you are not part of the leadership, you have no say in the matter. Your job is to vote how they say you will. You are just another brick in the blue wall.

To be sure, the job pays well and there are plenty of campaign donations to spend as you please.

But is it worth it?

And will going back to being a minority party be even less fun?

This marks the 20th year Pelosi has headed House Democrats. In that time, Republicans have had 4 leaders (Hastert, Boehner, Ryan, and McCarthy). There is a lot to be said for being stable.

But if you take away the B, you have stale.

That's where House Democrats are right now, and that is why 25 of them are going to be some place else a year from now.

  1. I can remember a time when we referred to them as “The Loyal Opposition.” Now I just wanna cut their fooking heads off.

    1. When, exactly, did we do that, Jeffery?

    3. Actually, Ed, I’m rereading Paul Johnson’s History of the American People and it goes back much further than the ChiComms. The Democrat Party has ALWAYS hated the idea of America as a superpower, with the exceptions being people like Andy Jackson, Jimmy Polk, and Harry Truman. In other words, the loyal opposition.

    4. You are right, Z. The disloyal opposition started during Reagan. Now it's on steroids.

  2. Keep in mind that the rank and evil donks selected her ten times for that slot. The nasty nazi is nutsy, but what does that say for the people who chose her? And by that I mean both the freaks of San Fran and the members of the house.

    1. Many moons ago, I worked for a few years at a place where us younger folks started to notice something - the people who actually did the work and got things done rarely got things like raises and promotions; instead, useless sleazebags nearly always got those. We used to joke that the useless sleazebags must have had stuff on the people who had say in the management ranks - such as pictures of them with women not their wives. I do wonder.

One thus can honestly wonder if she has "dirt" on a big bunch of them and thus can bend them to her will (such as continually voting for her as party leader in the House - even after the donks have been trounced in a recent election). She's been in DC forever, so if anyone has a file cabinet of dirty secrets to put to use, it would be her. She certainly would have no qualms about it.

    2. Wonder why Hillary had 5,000 FBI files in her office? Now they don't need files, they have unlimited access to NSA meta data on EVERYONE!

  3. I cannot fathom the efforts of the Dems to P.O. everyone in this country...
BTW I'd love it if the Republicans when they take over the house, put DJT in as speaker...

    1. A dream fer sure ... but McCarthy has to know he wouldn't have long to wait for the Speaker's chair as putting President Trump in that Leadership position puts about a million cross-hairs on both Brandon and Camel Toe.

    2. I've said it before and I'll say it again - when the GOP retakes control of the House next year, they are basically obligated to impeach sniffy, if nothing else than to lay down the law. What are the new rules? If the new rules are that the donks will impeach a GOP President anytime they control the House, they'll keep doing it. If the new rules are that it will happen any time the House and WH are controlled by opposing parties... they might wise up.

      However...

"... put DJT in as speaker..."

It hadn't occurred to me until today that... wouldn't it be just delicious if the Speaker managing this impeachment through the House were DJT? :-)

(And I'd pay money to be in the room in January of next year to watch you-know-who have to go through the ceremonial handing-over of the gavel... to DJT.)

    3. DJT as Speaker; no rule preventing an outsider from that. Impeach and convict Biden and then before they give the new President Harris a congressional approved VP, impeach her, convict her and Trump becomes President. I can dream can't I. The fly in the ointment is that the GOP doesn't have the spine to do it.

    4. Neither spine nor 2/3 of the Senate

    5. All sounds good but still depends on fair non corrupt elections! Who really believes all those states votes will be legal and counted properly? C'mon man.....the dems and media perfected the fraud just 14 months ago, in our face.

    6. Navy, have you seen the stories about the flurona? The federal government, all of it, will use this to codify universal mail-in voting. They're once again making noise about ending the filibuster in the Senate to enable passage of the so called voting rights act.

  5. On the bright side, even if dems do hold the seat, it will a newbie. No power, no experience unable to even find the bathroom.

I'd rather have a newbie dem than most incumbent repos.

For example, aoc makes a lot of noise but has actually don nothing in 3 years.

Otoh she is a reliable vote so should be replaced with a new repo if possible

    1. They also have to spend a lot more resources to hold that seat, resources that can't now be used in other competitive races

As stable as the Soviet Politburo and as fossilized.

    1. There's a lot of news coming out these days about people's Communist backgrounds. One of the most important is that Pete Buttigieg's father was a devoted Marxist and the leading biographer of Antonio Gramsci, who pushed the penetration of Marxism through supposed race-based oppression instead of class-based oppression.

Poopsie-- do you have more information or sources about Pelosi and communism? I want to know more. Her father's Mafia connection has only recently been coming out, I want to see more sources on that, too.

  9. I realize the Pelosi represents the ugly face of Democrat politics but why make it about her, personally? That’s putting the emPHAsis on the wrong syllABLE and merely lets the collective malefactors off the hook, which is exactly the way Democrats always blunt criticism of their Party’s politics: by sacrificing someone to the “greater good.” Pelosi is perfect for this as she’s got nothing meaningful left to lose.

The Democrat Party has been thoroughly corrupted and no longer represents the aspirations of anyone but racist thugs and a globalist elite. There is no “leadership” change that can possibly change that.

  10. Speaking of blackmail...

Glenn Greenwald just said that the purpose of the 2nd impeachment was give the Republican oligarchy leverage over Trump.
If Trump pardoned Snowden and Assange, as he was hinting, the Senate Republicans would vote to remove him from office, thereby making him not eligible to run for public office.

    1. Jeffery, you're blowing smoke again. Senate Republicans don't remove him from office.

    2. A second vote is required to do that. A present congressman is a judge who was impeached and convicted, but not prevented from serving in another federal office.
eduther-with the Dems voting lockstep they would.

  11. The wave of resignations does not mean Republicans will pick up those 25 seats.

When has the Democrat brand been this low?

  12. Four Republican "leaders": Hastert was a child abuser, Boehner was a drunk, Ryan was a sell out to big doner interests and McCarty was (is) a Trump hater. None was particularly good at leading the GOP members.

    2. Agree. I've already responded to RNC fundraising pleas that I will not give another penny to the RNC until Jim Jordan is Speaker of the House and Mitch McConnell is replaced. Until then, I'm ONLY contributing to Trump and to people Trump endorses.

McCarthy could be doing so much more than he is. He is against us, not for us.
