Midterm blowout: Republicans have a 13-point lead

The Trafalgar Group is very accurate in its polling. It found 55.7% of voters prefer a Republican candidate in the upcoming congressional races. 42.2% prefer a Democrat.

Let me put that in perspective.

Remember the 2010 congressional races when the Tea Party flipped 63 seats for Republicans, which gave them their largest majority in decades?

Republicans received 51.7% of the votes overall. Democrats got 44.9%. That was a 6.8-point gap.

This is a 13.5-point gap. For those who have to take off their shoes to count past 10, that is double the gap of 2010.

The 1994 gap was also 6.8-points.

You have to go back to 1946 -- when Republicans gained 55 seats to end 16 years of Democrat rule -- to find a bigger gap.

8.5 points.

Steve Bannon was not talking out of his hat when he said Republicans could flip 100 seats this year

Could.

The Real Clear Politics average of polls put the gap at 4.1 points.

This could have staying power because Gallup reported there is a 5-point gap in favor of Republicans in how people identify themselves. A year ago, Democrats had a 9-point advantage.

That was a 14-point swing in one year.

We all know the reason. Biden. He has had the worst first year of a presidency since William Harrison died a month after his inauguration in 1841. He too had a goofball vice president named John Tyler.

Biden surrendered Afghanistan and left $80 billion worth of military equipment -- and thousands of Americans -- behind. Biden adopted inflation as his economic policy, which helps the rich as the stock market soars but hurts the poor as wages cannot keep up. And Biden blew covid. More people died under him than under Trump -- and Trump had no vaccines for most of his presidency.

Gallup reported, "20% think pandemic is improving, 22% staying same, 58% getting worse."

Jimmy Carter 2.0?

Don't be foolish.

This is Herbert Hoover II.

My next post will be at 5 PM Eastern.

  1. Biden can say: "that 7-11 nearest the White House hired a new cashier, for a 100 percent increase over the year before. It's all looking up! I'm better than Roosevelt...or Tyler! I don't know."

  3. Great post, Don. I still worry about the Dem penchant for starting a war. Russia ( most likely) , China, ( were are they going to get the food and income ?) Iran (If Israel
is on our side, no problem, however: "FJB" is in charge.

    2. One more war or one more world-wide pandemic. Assuming the stick with a proven winner, a new pandemic it will be. Democrats have always sucked at waging war, from Vietnam to Afghanistan, and they especially suck at rallying Americans behind them to do so.

Lessee, a record turnout for both candidates in the middle of the pandemic, magically changing vote counts at 3a.m. (note to Dan the rino Chrenshaw: the election WAS stolen), more people voting than are registered, more absentee votes returned than sent out....
    A midterm blowout, Don?
I wouldn't count my chickens just yet.

  5. Afghanistan and covid? Don't forget the shitload of EO's that killed our energy independence, the graft he and Hunter are involved with in Ukraine and China, the perversion uncovered about him and Hunter involving underage hookers drugs and showers with their own daughter (the freak), vaxx passports (thanks again, Dan the rino Chrenshaw for his assist), pushing socialist spending we can't afford now or in the future....
    Need I go on?

  6. “This is Herbert Hoover II”?

No, this is FDR 2.0. On balance, Hoover was not that bad a president. He did not cause the depression.

On the other hand, FDR’s policies extended the great depression and he did all he could to start WW2, while ignoring the evidence that the Japanese were going to strike Pearl Harbor. Instead, he and his naval commanders made sure we had all of our ducks sitting nice and still. The 2,403 who died at Pearl Harbor can all point to FDR as the reason they died.

I’ll take Hoover on any day, over FDR, and over Biden.

    3. Hoover was kneecapped by the Federal Reserve who contracted the money supply by an astounding 33% between 1929-1933. A 5% contraction would produce a painful recession. The Fed has blood on its hands and is *solely* responsible for today's inflation.

  8. Repubs had a majority in both houses for the 1st 2 years of Trump and what did they do? A successful tax cut that biden wants to scrap. But nothing else of mention. And that led to the dems taking the house back and piglosi ripping up the SOTU speaches. Without a major change to what the Constitution says things will only get worse. May God help us.

  13. I'll second some of the comments above regarding Herbert Hoover - and then some. The strange thing about HH was that he was extremely good at everything else he ever did besides his Presidential term - both before and after that term.

He was a very talented and very successful mining engineer who had managed to make himself quite wealthy at a young age. And he had sufficient command of Latin to create a translation of Agricola's "De Re Metallica" that is one of the most-respected translations and is which is available to this day. Even FDR later brought him back to run relief efforts - since HH was so competent at things like that.

Like many, he deserves better than the write-ups he's been given - and it sure wasn't fair that the donks ran against him like his name was a curse for the next 50+ years.

I also have to put in a good word for Neville Chamberlain, despite his bumbling. The ugly reality is that in 1938 both he and Daladier were actually doing what their populaces wanted to be done - avoid war at any cost; both were welcomed home as heroes at the time, for doing so - Daladier was morose heading home, expecting a firestorm to greet him... but instead he was met with cheering crowds.

Chamberlain didn't long outlive his removal as PM and replacement by Churchill in1940 - but he remained in the cabinet and was a loyal and patriotic Briton who did all that he could to save Britain during those darkest days. When he died, Churchill was one of his pallbearers and was unable to keep back tears.

  18. Even if the GOP takes control of the house ,if Kevin McCarthy is speaker it will be a repeat of 2010. McCarthy is a rino. It will be a Paul Ryan 2.0 do nothing Congress. These fools just don't get it. We vote them in to make changes and they sit on their hands. More business as usual. We need someone different for speaker. No more RINOS.

    1. We need millions of Republicans to act NOW, and call the RNC, and each of their Republican Senators and Representatives, and tell them not one more penny donated to the RNC until Kevin McCarthy is immediately replaced with Jim Jordan, and Mitch McConnell with some strong Trump supporter. We need to give them hell NOW. Both McCarthy and McConnell are WASTING TIME RIGHT NOW when they could be doing TONS to counter the Left's narrative and actions. We need truly committed vigorous leaders that take initiative and command media attention (like Trump does), not passivity and weak "pretend" criticism of the Left.

I'd even gladly accept Ted Cruz as a replacement for McConnell. Despite his recent Jan. 6th blunder, he's still far, far better than McConnell.

  23. We know that every poll is skewed for the Socialist/Democrat/Communists. Assuming that is the case I'm hoping that the blow out in 2022 will throw these bastards back to the Stone Age. But, can we count on the Cowardly, Inept, Incompetent, and Impotent RINO's, Establishment republicans to act like Democrats and that full advantage of a golden opportunity? That is my greatest fear.

    ReplyDelete
  24. First there is a big difference between poll numbers and actual results. 13 vs 6.8. No doubt the dems are celebrating these numbers for two reasons, fund raising opportunities and complacency in the Republican ranks who think "we got this" Campaigns have yet to get rolling. Dems make phony accusations and draw first blood and Republicans cower. Dems cheat and Republicans cry foul. Media stages the news and the pundits talk about it. Am I missing something here? Would be wonderful to be wrong!

  31. Right. Bet on a Repub(Triple A club of the Dems) taking a majority in the house and the Senate by a few percentage points.
    52/48 approx. in the Senate
    226/209 in the house
Same percentage advantage for the triple A team in each chamber.
Plenty of rinos will be available in the house or senate whenever needed to halt the progress of liberty.
Without election reform that insures reliable processes, election SEASON, not election day will always be massaged for the ruling aristocrats.
