The nut of the piece is this paragraph.
In the long run, Bongino’s most significant impact may not come from what he says on his broadcasts. “My goal is for my content to be the least interesting thing I did,” he told me. He has used his money and his influence to foster technology startups, such as Parler, Rumble, and AlignPay, that are friendly to right-wing views. These companies are intended to withstand traditional pressure campaigns, including advertising boycotts like the one that Media Matters prompted in 2019, based on old radio interviews in which the Fox host Tucker Carlson described women as “extremely primitive” and Iraqis as “monkeys.” Carusone said, “What scares me about Bongino is that this guy could end up owning or controlling or directly building the infrastructure that operationalizes a whole range of extremism.” He continued, “There used to be lines. You could say, ‘O.K., PayPal, don’t let the January 6th people recruit money to pay for buses.’ This new alternative infrastructure is not going to stop that.” If another uprising organizes online, he said, “there will be a whiplash effect. Everyone will say, ‘How did that happen?’ Well, it’s been happening.”
What Bongino has done is become self-reliant in an era when Maoists run every corporation in America. He cannot be stopped by boycotts and denials of service.
He is Rush Limbaugh on steroids. His actions speak louder than words, and his words are pretty loud. Already he is No. 4 in the talk radio rankings, according to Talkers magazine.
I admire his independence just as I admire Kane at Citizen Free Press for eschewing ads. (His annual fundraiser is still on. I mailed a check.)
Lefty Glenn Greenwald also likes it. He tweeted, "Whatever you think of Bongino or anyone else whose views you hate, it's incomparably dangerous to allow groups created by supreme DC scumbag David Brock to police our discourse, and it's good and healthy that new independent platforms deny them that power."
New Yorker titled its piece, "Dan Bongino and the Big Business of Returning Trump to Power."
Of course it is a business. New Yorker is a business. This blog is a business. A 100 years ago, Calvin Coolidge told a bunch of newspaper publishers and editors that the business of America is business. The biggest hippies in the world -- Ben and Jerry -- ran a business. Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead were businessmen.
The difference between Bongino and New Yorker is he is more successful.
Greenwald tweeted, "One last point about the formulaic Bongino profile: it used to be that a New Yorker hit piece by a CNN writer would be harmful. Now: it doesn't matter. They've so whittled their credibility that the targets of their smears have larger audiences than they, making them impotent."
If anything, this story helps Bongino. My respect for the dude rose.
But the piece really does not say much about him. The hits aren't even slaps.
The story said, "In 1995, he entered a cadet program for aspiring police officers, while studying psychology at Queens College. He became a cop, and also earned a master’s degree in psychology. Soon, though, he was craving 'something bigger.' In 1999, he entered the U.S. Secret Service, and when Hillary Clinton ran for the Senate that year Bongino was assigned to help protect her. He received, as he put it later, 'a Ph.D.-level course in campaign management.' In particular, he appreciated the canny efforts of Clinton’s aides to insure that she was photographed travelling in a frumpy brown van, which the Secret Service agents nicknamed Scooby-Doo. (He invoked that lesson years later when he was running for office, telling his staff that campaigns come down to 'sound bites and snapshots.') Among colleagues, he was known as a skillful agent—well liked by both peers and superiors, and quick to venture out in the middle of the night if asked for help. An agent who worked with him recalled, 'Nobody knew his politics at all. He never talked politics.'"
Of course he didn't talk politics. Secret Service agents are not supposed to talk politics. That he was willing to lay down his life to protect a woman whose politics he disliked is admirable. He was good at his job and rose through the ranks.
He said of Obama, "From what I saw, he was a wonderful father and a wonderful man, and he was very, very nice and very kind to me."
The story said he got tired of the travel and moved on. The story goes through his post-Secret Service career, which included writing a memoir.
Then it said, "In May, he started the radio show in Limbaugh’s old slot. It was not a simple inheritance; some local stations opted to fill the slot with other aspiring heirs. There was the duo of Clay Travis and Buck Sexton, a sportswriter and a former C.I.A. officer; there was also Erick Erickson, an evangelical Christian who once called the Supreme Court Justice David Souter a 'goat-fucking child molester,' and was now being positioned as the calm, mature option.
"But Bongino had an advantage: Trump, who agreed to be his first guest."
Six months later, Bongino was No. 4 ahead of Mark Levine and Glenn Beck.
But that does not bother libs.
What bothers them is he is independent. He does not need them. And that means they have no way to harm him.
He told New Yorker that if he was not doing this, he would have become a mixed-martial arts fighter.
In a way, he is a lot like Dana White who started the UFC and kicked off the MMA revolution. He took a chance on himself and created his own infrastructure. No one would book his fights in venues.
Then along came an Atlantic City casino owner who was willing to host him.
Donald Trump.
Sounds like a man’s man. I haven’t listened to his show (or anyone’s since Rush’s death). I’m sure I’d enjoy it, but I’m rarely in a car with a working AM band during the mid-day hours.
ReplyDeleteSurviving Rodham and Sotero, Bongino should have a chest full of ribbons.
Schlongy.... I only listen to one show for less than 3 hours 9am to 11:45 daily. Derek Hunter on AM 960 from Baltimore. I listen using Tune in Radio app. He's really good and funny.
DeleteGive him a try next week (on vaca this wk)
I’ll give it a try, TO
DeleteBongino is still doing his podcast too.. Most of the time it's close to the same as his radio show without the commercials and guest interviews. Worth a listen if your not in near your radio in the afternoon.
DeleteDan is an honest man and his podcast, radio show and his show on Fox has only the same standards to the truth, unless you have solid proof, he won’t say things that he can’t back up!
DeleteHe tells it like it is, if he don’t have the receipts to back it up, he doesn’t talk about it, he has always been consistent about who he is as a God Loving American Patriot!
He’s no different then Bannon and his posse fighting against the lying marxist media to get the Truth out to sheep that believe the MSM still has any creditability.
I listen to him everyday, not just once on his Saturday show and when you hear the Truth everything else is just Cheap Whiskey!
Speaking of MMA, Joe Rogan just said Barack Obama was the best president of his lifetime. I lost a lot of respect for him after hearing that :/
ReplyDeleteSounds like Joe is trying to regain lost cred with his leftist friends.
DeleteI'm old enough to remember Eisenhower. That said, I've watched Rogan on YouTube and wasn't impressed.
DeleteHe said nothing of the kind, Jeffery. He said, "He was a wonderful father and a wonderful man, and he was very, very nice and very kind to me".
DeleteNot even close. You lie when the truth is on the same page and you expect us to be as stupid as you are.
“I really believe if Michelle Obama runs, she wins. She’s great, she’s intelligent, she’s articulate, she’s the wife of the best president that we have had in our lifetime....."

By the way, I'm talking about Joe Rogan, not Dan Bongino.
Daniel John Bongino

DeleteI haven't been able to post comment from my iPad so please excuse this test from my laptop
ReplyDeleteAll of my comments come from my iPad. Tip: If hitting the [Publish] button does nothing, hit the down arrow right above the delete button and choose “Reply as: [Google Account]” BTW, if you reload the page, your comment will repost. It’s a glitch in Google’s commenting system. You can get around that by closing the tab after posting a comment then reopening the page in a new tab. Hope this helps.
DeleteSo Carusone is worried about someone “owning or controlling the infrastructure that operationalizes a whole range of extremism”?? Haven’t heard him object to the infrastructure that birthed the Russia Hoax, nor have I heard him condemn those involved, nor have I heard him opine that those people and organizations should be cancelled from civilized society.
ReplyDeleteSeems like he’s just another self-unaware left winger filled with intolerance and hate.
You took the words out of my mouth. The New Yorker is just another radical hatemongering publication that is intolerant of anyone who does not push their Marxist agenda. They can all go to hell. Fight on, Dan!!
DeleteI know Dan and worked a wee bit helping him in our county during his senate try in MD. They should be afraid of him since he is driven to succeed. But I agree with him when he says he is where he belongs. I think he would have been bored stiff in the senate just as I would be.
ReplyDeleteSaw him at CPAC 2014 and that dude (pre-cancer) was CUT. He was also Maxo ADHD, a trait that seems to be common among highly successful men. In other words, NOT JOE BIDEN unless you equate senility with attention deficit. 🤣🤣🤣
DeleteMan crush Z?
DeleteMaybe T.O....I have a boner myself!!!
Delete“There used to be lines. You could say, ‘O.K., PayPal, don’t let the January 6th people recruit money to pay for buses.’ This new alternative infrastructure is not going to stop that.”
ReplyDeleteThose "lines" were the Deep State's Ministry of Propaganda.
What scares the Lefties about him is the same thing that scares them about the Internet.
The exchange of ideas, freedom of thought. It's why they have the Deep State Dwarf trying to tell people he owns the science. They also tried it with Albert Gore, the Living Redwood.
Once people start thinking, the Left is doomed.
"Once people start thinking, the Left is doomed."
DeleteAbsolutely true. In fact, the Left is ALREADY doomed. They can't win an actual debate on any subject. The situation is ALREADY at the point where the only thing holding their house of cards together is their Censorship and Smear operations.
Plus, Reality itself keeps throwing up events that continually undercut their narrative. So Democrats are being forced increasingly into trying to promote what amounts to almost pure fantasy and wishful thinking.
Chris Plante is the one who gets my ear when I tune in the radio. Was disappointed he didn't get the golden EIB microphone upon Rush's passing. Clay and Buck are OK, but Plante has the humor and the chops to keep my attention.
ReplyDeleteThanks for mentioning Chris! He is an American icon and an original. If I am not smiling when I listen to Chris, I am lauging out loud!
DeleteI like Plante but he's a different style than Rush or Bongino. He's a perfect replacement for Rush.
DeleteOsnos should edit his work. The first sentence says Bongino lives in Stuart, when he actually lives in Palm City.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Bongino already cancel himself by caving to the station to get the jab after spending several months trying to convince people he would stand against it?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sold on Bongino, his mixing with the Mercer family is cause for concern. Too many of these so called right wing heros have turned out to be something very different.
ReplyDeleteTake David Brock of media matters himself, or Glenn Beck.
It pays to listen to the hype less and observe more, especially in association. Even most of the so called "RINOs" and Tea Party failures were highly predictable people.
I listen to him a lot because he backs up what he says with the facts and that bugs the hell out of the left as he exposes them on a daily basis (with credible facts)and he exposes the left for what they are I love him he’s the best out there keep it coming Dan
ReplyDeleteBongino ain't the only one. Andrew Torba is on the same trajectory. GAB GABpay, etc.
ReplyDeleteBeen a regular monitor of Bongino's journalism for quite some time, but its his "DEEDs in deed" that are most remarkable. Wonderful family man w/ lovely, very capable latina wife and two lovely daughters. That being said, his continuing fraternization w/ "Faux Views" among other things, belies a "status-quo" bent that is a little suspect, similar to Bannon. Ranting aside, AJ is the "pioneer of independent platforms" after being the first to suffer wholesale cancellation several years ago. That in itself indicates just how dangerous the "CRIMIMAL State"/Status-Quo consider AJ to be. And, AJ has no fear/reservations in both pursuing and exposing the Truth what ever it may be or where ever it may lead. Another rising star of similar bent is Stew Peters.
ReplyDeleteConservatives lose so much that any win you get from anybody you immediately attach yourself to them as a win and someone you can support. You can't keep picking people based on that, it's why you guys are always let down. I call them Benny Windsocks. Benny(a traitor from the mummy) and (windsock) because they have no loyalties and blow which ever direction that will advance themselves n9 matter who they betray..
ReplyDeleteI agree he is to close to the mercer family and doesn't hold true. If you trust someone who continuously compromises themselves you're asking for it
Having perused these these pages on my own, the essay's this 'Bongino' as an insignificant, angry emoji, an icon of overly muscled neolitihic narcissism, possibly incapable of tool use.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, a well-known Hamptons friend of ours, while sipping Campari and soda, stated, "you know if they promote the help beyond their ken, it is much like putting homo habilis at the controls of Space X; a crash is inevitable..." "It is at best difficult to mount meaningful opposition to current thought, when lacking the concept of the opposable thumb, one can not grasp objects, much less ideas."
The above was written in the traditional style of the New Yorker. Bongino is over the target and carpet bombing is in order.
