Elizabeth Warren, who faked being an Indian to land a $400,000-a-year job at Harvard, tweeted, "Working families are paying the price for corporate greed. We need more competition and strong antitrust enforcement so these meatpacking monopolies can’t jack up prices so casually."
Jen Psaki tried to label the scapegoats Big Meat. That drew guffaws from immature men who represent like 99% of all men.
The media duly publicizes the narrative.
NBC said, "The levers of government are being primed for an escalating crackdown on excessive food price inflation, which the Biden-Harris Administration and its Congressional allies believe is partially a result of over-concentration and lack of competition in the food and grocery supply chain.
"With inflation at its highest point in almost 40 years, American families are facing higher prices at the checkout and are making do with leaner meals. Once deemed essential, workers in grocery stores now say they feel expendable, and have been rewarded with only marginal increases in wages they say leave them unable to cover their own rising food costs.
"Meanwhile, producers and grocers are exploiting the pandemic to jack up prices more than necessary to pass on increased costs to consumers, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., blasted in a new letter sent to the heads of Kroger, Albertson's, and Publix and shared exclusively with NBC News."
In a fair world, no one would take the word of Warren who lied her way into a cushy Harvard job which was a springboard to the Senate.
But the world is unfair. The media consists of a pack of Democrat stooges.
NBC ran the story without bothering to balance it, saying in Paragraph 9, "The stores did not immediately respond to an NBC News request for comment."
The story was not breaking news. NBC could have waited. But NBC no longer practices journalism.
Reuters ain't much better.
It reported, "Four of the biggest meat-processing companies, using their market power in the highly consolidated U.S. market to drive up meat prices and underpay farmers, have tripled their own net profit margins since the pandemic started, White House economics advisers said.
"Financial statements of the meat-processing companies -- which control 55%-85% of the market for beef, poultry and pork - contradict claims that rising meat prices were caused by higher labor or transportation costs, advisers led by National Economic Council Director Brian Deese wrote in an analysis published on the White House website Friday."
But Reuters did balance the story, beginning in Paragraph 5, which said, "Trade group the North American Meat Institute accused the White House of cherry-picking data."
Overall, as inflation rises the noses lengthen for the Pinocchios of the Press.
“Jen Psaki tried to label the scapegoats Big Meat. That drew guffaws from immature men who represent like 99% of all men.”
ReplyDeleteBig D, that’s not gold, that’s PLATINUM shite right there, brother!

DeleteShe should shut up and pass the mike to horizontal Harris, their resident meat expert.
DeleteLOL.
DeleteAgreed, ZReg! I laughed so hard I cried!
DeleteDon should that read mature men?
ReplyDeleteI don't get it.
You gotta get some Babylon Bee in your diet, man…
DeleteAmazing how the food producers all waited in unison until Trump was out and Biden was in to become greedy capitalist pigs, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteNailed it!
Delete^This^
DeletePsaki probably got that term from a conversation with Kamala Harris.
ReplyDeleteif it was camela-toe, it would be big willie, not meat!!!
DeleteHorst Muhlmann just signed a 40% higher contract!!! Thanks Ass...
DeleteWhen Lenin et al. imposed full communism on Russia (et al.), it was immediately a total disaster economically. Was it the fault of their moronic and unworkable ideas? Of course not. They blamed "wreckers, hoarders, and saboteurs."
ReplyDeleteSounds like our clown class has reached the same idea.

ReplyDelete"As inflation reaches Jimmy Carter levels"
ReplyDeleteIn 1977, Jimmy Carter made his famous MEOW (Moral equivalent of War) speech:
“The oil and natural gas we rely on for 75 percent of our energy are running out.”
“World oil production can probably keep going up for another six or eight years. But some time in the 1980s it can’t go up much more. Demand will overtake production. We have no choice about that.”
“We can’t substantially increase our domestic production…”
“Within ten years we would not be able to import enough oil—from any country, at any acceptable price.”
Carter was an Evangelical Christian, correct?
DeleteSo he claimed, although he diverged from Christian doctrine on salvation. Your point?
DeleteCarter CLAIMED to be an Evangelical Christian. Reference the Epistle of James, chapter 1, verses 22-24:
Delete"22 But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was."
Carter claimed to be a Christian. Bruce Jenner claims to be a woman.
Reference Pauls letter to the congregation at Thessaloniki;
"11 For this reason God sends them a strong delusion so that they will believe what is false..."
With a little study, you'll probably begin to notice the pattern.
Merry Christmas.
EDU, worthless Willie and Barry Soetoro also touted their church attendance.
DeleteMedia writing about economics is like me writing about neurosurgery - they are profoundly ignorant of the subject. All they do is cut the Swamp talking points and past them into their stories. A little common sense would go a long way.
ReplyDeleteHere's an example:
If the price of one or two commodities like meat and gasoline were to go up, the family would have less to spend in the aggregate on other products, exerting less upward pressure on other prices, meaning the general price level would not increase. Income in the short run is fixed.
Instead, the reality is prices are increasing across all products which points to the real culprit: the growth in the quantity of money in circulation. That's the Fed's child and of course that child an orphan.
And when the media want to talk to a serious economist, they run to Paulie Krugman. Har har.
DeleteAs food prices rocket up, the only place there is less pressure is the belt line. Thinner waists and lighter wallets. It's okay though, we'll be in style wearing worn out jeans, torn tee's and barefoot.
DeleteMaybe Ethiopia can send us some aid.
Isnt price fixing which sounds like what theyre planning a knelling bell of economic disaster?
Deleteof course, nothing can approach the precise concise prose of someone wittier than I (Yakov Smirnoff perhaps?): under communism, you wait for food & under capitalism, food waits for you
ReplyDeleteah, timeless wisdom, no matter who said it
When Liawatha is trying to make a point, I know it is pure BS.
ReplyDeleteAs usual Fauxahontas step in fresh buffalo chip.
DeleteBTW my late wife said: "Warren comes from a family in Oklahoma that has NO Indian blood.?" I miss her.
Ok 1/1250 th. the son of a spanish sea cook or something like that..
You want higher prices and complete Shortages, place a Price Control on Groceries. They will never learn.
ReplyDeleteThey are using the Huge Chavez model.
DeleteYeah, so big it wrecked a thriving country.
DeleteCarter’s gas price controls in the 70s caused a shortage of gasoline and long lines at the pump. Carter was dumped at the next election.
DeleteGovernor Gray Davis imposed electricity price controls in California, which lasted from January 2001 through November 2003. Power shortages ensued when other states would not sell their excess electric production to Cal at the controlled price, which caused rolling blackouts throughout the state. In 2003 Governor Davis lost a recall election.
So yeah, imposing price controls means scarcity and pain for the public, but also an abrupt end of the career of the politician imposing it.
Oh, goodie! Since this administration is all about failing and also re-trying the things that didn't work the last three, I expect that price controls will be next.
ReplyDeleteYou just need to shut your mouth. If they try it I'm saying it is because you gave them the idea. ๐ฌ
DeleteI'm sure they are working on a full regimen of wage and price controls right now. Dust off your WIN buttons.
Delete(Whip Inflation Now - Ford era)
Agreed JeremyR...Stan, let Steve know I said "Hello"...
DeleteMeanwhile, producers and grocers are exploiting the pandemic to jack up prices more than necessary to pass on increased costs to consumers....
ReplyDeleteSo the producers and grocers are supposed to go broke?
When the universities turned tuition into screwition Liarwatha was fine with it. They rail against student DEBT, not outrageous tuition.
They complain about higher food cost but are silent about how farmers take it in the shorts year after year.
Actually, they're not, Jeffery. If you notice, most producers, if possible, are trying to keep prices the same by making the packages (and the amount of product) smaller.
DeleteYou lie again.
Thing is, Demos are even worse at economics than math and don't get me started on physics, chemistry, biology, meteorology, botany, history, law, or the scientific method.
Sorry, Ed Douche. I know several ranchers. The price of cattle has not gone up. The retail price of meat has. As JR said, The ranchers are taking it in the shorts.
DeleteYup El douche, smaller packages means LESS product for the money. Some people have to feed a family with less food, or open a second (or third) can of veggies.
DeleteAre you really that stupid?
Never have I seen eldouchebag counter an opposition to his comments. He posts stupid shit and disappears. Man up edjackass.
DeleteThat is a spot on observation oh one with a sore Johnson
DeleteSome times I am tempted to visit his blog and leave a reply.
DeleteThes Dem fools don’t seem to realize how stupid and incompetent they have held themselves out to be. They’re effectively saying that an inept Joe Biden can’t stop these corporations from being greedy, but we just experienced four years where a strong Donald Trump could do so. What a bunch of idiots (BTW, the original suggestion was stupid even without the unflattering, unintentional comparison they’ve made).
ReplyDeleteI suggest Biden establish a tax on stupid and lack of common sense, which would drain the bank accounts of most Dems….
Time to replace the whitehouse "economic advisors." Just shopped at $1.25 Store today. Had the bad luck of picking up items that are 25% higher than when Trump was in office. Biden accomplished that in less than a year, actually 11 months since inauguration.
ReplyDeleteSince the CPI was changed in the 1980s, last month's 6.2% inflation now equals Carters's 14.8%; so 6.8% is above Carter's numbers when everything is apples, not oranges and apples, as is said.
