The New York Post reported, "Fired CNN host Chris Cuomo is set to sue the network if it balks at paying him at least $18 million to cover what’s left on his contract, sources told The Post on Monday.
"Cuomo, 51, has hired lawyers and is preparing to file the lawsuit over the remainder of the four-year contract he signed last year — after a bitter back-and-forth about what the network knew of his secret efforts to aid his embattled brother, then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, said sources familiar with the matter.
"His contract was reportedly worth $6 million annually, leaving between $18 million and $20 million that he would be owed, sources said, adding that Chris Cuomo would also likely seek damages.
"But CNN has 'no intention of paying Cuomo a penny,' an insider said. 'If he gets a settlement, there would be uproar.'"
Well, there's a jolly twist to a story CNN would prefer go away. It announced with little fanfare on Saturday that it fired Cuomo.
Unfortunately, by not paying him off, the story won't go away.
The New York Post happily reported, "Canned CNN host Chris Cuomo has fired back at the network — accusing his boss of knowing everything about his involvement in trying to quash ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s sex scandal.
"In a new statement, a spokesman for the fallen TV star threw his longtime ally CNN President Jeff Zucker under the bus, while insisting the journalist 'has the highest level of admiration and respect' for him.
"'They were widely known to be extremely close and in regular contact, including about the details of Mr. Cuomo’s support for his brother,' the spokesman told the Wall Street Journal Sunday of Chris Cuomo’s shady support for his big brother as the governor’s sex scandal unfolded."
Canned Cuomo just flashed one of the cards in his hand.
And he is willing to air CNN's dirty laundry for 18 million reasons.
Zucker zucked up.
He should have paid the man. That's what NBC did.
On January 12, 2019, CNN reported, "Megyn Kelly leaves NBC with all of her $69 million contract intact."
That's the way you do it. This is hush money. NBC agreed to pay her, and she agreed to keep her trap shut.
CNN is a cash cow for AT&T. Zucker could easily just pay the man off. But he didn't. Penny wise, pound foolish.
Cuomo said fine. See you in court. Deposition ought to be entertaining.
Jim Treacher wrote, "I don’t doubt Zucker knew what Cuomo was up to, just like he knew what Matt Lauer was doing for years. And I assume there’s plenty of blackmail material to prove it. For the first time ever, I’m rooting for Chris Cuomo to defeat his enemies."
We all are.

DeleteMmmmm. Bacon!
DeleteThat's a good justification for firing Zucker, too, and then cleaning house which is what Malone is rumored to want to do.
ReplyDeleteCNN may be a cash cow but it's been leaving a lot of money on the table as advertisers put their money in places with more eyeballs. There are lots of DNC propaganda mouthpieces and MSNBC out-draws CNN. CNN needs to differentiate itself to appeal to a wider audience.
The reason CNN is a cash cow is because of their corporate owner, AT&T. It's not totally different from NPR and PBS being propped up by the federal government (taxpayers).
DeleteHow is CNN a cash cow if it doesn't have any viewers?
DeleteI love it when the POSTS start consuming one another . Let's hope it continues .
DeleteNot only is Google evil, but it also can't read. CNN is owned by a cash cow, AT&T. If you can't figure that out, I can't help you.

I agree that this might be the way Malone gets rid of Zucker and starts the serious house cleaning. When the dirt comes out then the firings start in earnest. Gonna be fun to watch, except I never watch CNN, most people don't.
