Highlights of the News

ITEM 1: Does Republican Winsome Sears have coattails in Virginia?

The Trafalgar Group released its final election poll and in the races for governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general. She has the biggest lead -- 2.9 points over the Democrat in the lieutenant governor's race.

Youngkin leads old man McAuliffe by 2.3 points, and in the attorney general's race, Jason Miyares is up 2.5 points. A Republican sweep would send a message to DC.

ITEM 2: Ace reported, "Recently AllahPundit claimed the story that Florida now had the lowest covid rates in the country -- remember, bloggers at Hot Air 'claim' stories on a first-come, first served basis -- just so he could attack DeSantis by claiming it was hypocritical that DeSantis did not take the blame for Florida's higher August covid rates but is taking credit for their lowest-in-the-nation October rates.

"AllahPundit somehow doesn't notice that it's equally hypocritical for AllahPundit to have spent all August attacking DeSantis for higher Florida covid rates but now refuse to grant him credit for the low October rates.

"Or that it is hypocritical of AllahPundit to blow off surging covid rates in the blue states of New England, where they have forced vaccinations and masking and all the wonderful coercions his frightened Karen heart craves.

"But this is now typical of the alleged conservative blog Hot Air -- it runs the same sort of opinion pieces that you'd find on Salon."

(This quoted portion is deep in the post.)

I could also point to an Orlando Sentinel editorial that blasted DeSantis for the drop in covid after the same editorial board blasted him for rising covid cases two months earlier.

Many bloggers emulate editorial writing because they wish they were newspaper columnists or editorial writers.

I did both for 25-plus years. Boy are they aiming low.

ITEM 3: Speaking of former newspapermen, Robert Stacy McCain ended his column on Allah Pundit by saying, "Can we trust these polls? Will the Democrats in Virginia come up with one of those ballot-harvesting miracle wins with a 3 a.m. truckload of absentee votes to give McAuliffe the margin of victory?

"We can’t rule it out, and there are probably corpses of Democratic voters in Oakwood Cemetery awaiting their electoral resurrection Tuesday.

"But we cannot allow this possibility to discourage Republican voters — living, breathing, legal residents of Virginia — from actually voting. Maybe the fix is in, but Virginia Republicans have to vote as if the machinery of Democratic vote fraud weren’t going to nullify their ballots. Keep in mind that Biden beat Trump by 10 points in Virginia, so for this election even to be close is something of a miracle. If Youngkin manages to pull off an upset here, it will send shock waves across the nation. And maybe, just maybe, it will drive a stake through the heart of Never Trump."

I seldom boldface anything, in fact that may have been the first time.

They say faith is going to the edge of all that is dark and taking one more step.

Keep the faith, baby.

ITEM 4: Masks make you sleepy.

It is all that CO2 you are breathing back in.

ITEM 5: WBEZ reported, "A Cook County judge on Monday suspended the city of Chicago’s policy requiring that all of its police officers be vaccinated against covid 19 by the end of the year.

"The ruling is a major victory for police unions, who have held that the city’s covid 19 vaccine mandate violates their collective bargaining agreements. Judge Raymond Mitchell ruled Monday that the mandate should be halted for police officers until those complaints can be settled in arbitration."

In politics, you can ignore the Constitution, but you had better follow the union contract to a T.

ITEM 6: I saw "The Turtles" on Ed Sullivan the other night. (One of the rerun cable channels runs the show.) Nice to see lead singer Howard Kaylan is still performing.

Not to rag on McConnell, but had he funded the wall when he had the chance, we might not be in this predicament.

ITEM 7: Ken Dilanian is an NBC News correspondent covering national security and intelligence, based in DC.

For some reason, that tweet reminded me of when Pam and Debbie got their first Ken doll after years of playing with their Barbies.

Man, were they disappointed.

ITEM 8: The Epoch Times reported, "A Virginia judge dismissed a lawsuit claiming that Fairfax County improperly accepted applications on absentee ballots, responding to a complaint that was filed late last month, coming as Virginia’s gubernatorial election is scheduled for Nov. 2.

"The Virginia Institute for Public Policy filed a lawsuit arguing that the Fairfax County Office of Elections accepted applications for absentee and mail-in ballots without residents’ final four digits of their Social Security numbers. They argued that such a practice violates state law.

"The county’s elections office responded by saying that state law stipulates that such a lawsuit can only be filed by any aggrieved voter, a campaign’s party, or a candidate. The Virginia Institute for Public Policy, a conservative-leaning nonprofit organization, is none of the three, they further said.

"Judge Michael Devine on Oct. 29 supported the Fairfax elections office and ruled that the plaintiffs didn’t have standing to file the lawsuit."

Vote anyway.

ITEM 9: Politico reported, "Joe Manchin’s pointed refusal Monday to endorse President Joe Biden’s $1.75 trillion social spending bill framework left Democrats insisting that the mercurial Democratic senator would come around.

"In a blunt press conference, Manchin said he would not bow to party pressure to support the more progressive social spending bill and decried the 'shell games, budget gimmicks' used in writing it. And the West Virginia Democrat criticized House Democrats’ delay of a bipartisan infrastructure bill he helped write, declaring it 'time to vote.'

"Since Manchin is Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s proverbial 50th vote, his comments rippled through the Senate Democratic Caucus and left some senators like Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) concerned about Manchin’s level of commitment. She contended that Biden 'obviously has work to do' with Manchin. Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) said 'quite a few of us are going to continue to press our friend and colleague.'"

50 votes in a 100-member Senate is not a majority.

Democrats should try to get a few Republicans on board. But Democrats are as stubborn as a donkey.

ITEM 10: No Q Report reported, "Four taxpayers in Pennsylvania have decided enough was enough after footing the bill for a school board attorney who told them that the school system could limit their First Amendment rights.

"The taxpayers filed a free speech lawsuit in federal court that could set a precedent for invalidating policies that shield both school administrators and elected officials from public criticism.

"'The left is trying to take over the English language in a way that might appeal to rational people with innocent-sounding words like ‘diversity’ and ‘inclusion,’ but it’s really about trying to divide people and distort history,' Simon Campbell, a former member of the Pennsbury School Board, told the Daily Signal.

"In their suit, Campbell and three other taxpayers whose children are or were enrolled in Bucks County’s Pennsbury School District ask the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania to strike down school board policies used to “censor” citizens who dissent."

There should be some jail time for the board members and superintendent of the schools over this.

Dump them all.

ITEM 11: The New York Post reported, "Bat named ‘Bird of the Year 2021’ in controversial decision."

Bats are mammals.

But the award was made in New Zealand, where covid restrictions have made everyone a little batty.

ITEM 12: Old: Let's Go Brandon.

New: Kamala drives a Ford.

ITEM 13: Wayne Dupree reported (with video), "A Slap In The Face': DeSantis Blasts Plan To Give $450,000 Payments To Families Separated At Border."

The shadow president knows.

ITEM 14: BPR reported, "Southwest Airlines ‘Let’s go, Brandon!’ claim may not be all it’s cracked up to be according to social media sleuths

"Associated Press reporter Colleen Long claimed over the weekend that a Southwest Airlines pilot on her flight signed off with 'Let’s go, Brandon!' but the audio being passed around with her story seems to have some major inconsistencies.

"First off, according to Twitchy, there is real doubt as to whether the pilot said 'Let’s go, Brandon!' or 'Let’s go, Braves!' because the audio is clipped. But the media ran with the much more controversial 'Let’s go, Brandon!' pretty much on the word of an AP reporter."

Hmm.

She was wrapped up in a story about people saying, "Let's Go Brandon," a phrase she wants censored. Someone says, "Let's go Braves," and she hears "Let's Go Brandon."

Southwest is investigating its employee. Hamas-Shielding AP should investigate its employee.

ITEM 15Breitbart reported, "Several states are looking at Christmas tree shortages ahead of this year’s holiday season, according to reports.

"Vendors in Sacramento, California, are expected to be affected by supply chain issues in addition to droughts and fires in nearby Oregon where many vendors in the Sacramento area get their trees, according to CBS Sacramento.

"Chad Ericson owns Chad’s Christmas Trees in the Sacramento area and says the droughts and fires are a significant factor in this year’s shortage of trees."

The story also said, "Mike Capp, who owns Taylor Creek in Green Bay, WI, said that many shipments of artificial trees, which generally arrive in early fall, still have not arrived due to worker shortages, according to an October 24 article from NBC 26."

It's beginning to look a lot like MissedMas.
Everywhere you go.
Take a look at the five and ten, it's empty as Biden's head.
No candy canes or silver lanes that glow.

It's beginning to look a lot like MissedMas.
No toys in any store.
But the ugliest sight to see is the missing Christmas tree.
Evergreen no more.

  1. Don’t get me wrong here, Big D. If the DubVee guv vote was today, I’d be there with bells on - even if, as Sundance said a few days ago, Youngkin is Pure UniParty. As a CITIZEN, voting is not just my job - it’s a fooking PRIVILEGE.

    1. Youngkin is Pure UniParty.

It takes courage for a Republican politician to come out pro-Trump. Much safer to be Uniparty, but that will change after a few years of 40% inflation impoverishes the country.

  7. #3. How to stop the steal? Begin by having multiple stalwart Republicans at every location where ballots are counted 24/7 from the moment voting begins. Every door of the building should have at least three people standing by it and observing, and one person some distance back filming them. No late night delivery, no unexpected shipments arriving.
Step 2. Inside observers remain in the building until the counters exit. No we're done for the night, you can go, we're just gonna tidy up Bidenshit.

    2. I agree with you completely on this one, JeremyR. Especially heading into the 2022 midterms, we Republicans need to bite the bullet, and buckle down to do the nitty-gritty work of fully staffing all polling place-watching positions, especially in the corrupted swing states.

You have value to offer, JeremyR, but you vastly dilute yourself by your attacks on edutcher. At times, you have been in downright overdrive on that. A few weeks ago I couldn't help counting as many as TWELVE of your comments attacking him on just ONE of Don's posts. And you also did that on several other of Don's posts. And then you whine that edutcher doesn't specifically respond to get involved with arguing you on every little point.

This behavior alone is enough to discredit just about anything you have to say, but your comment above was a helpful one.

Edutcher follows the overall Comments more closely than I do, so I yield to his assessment when he identifies 'Jeffrey FUD'. I find his 'Jeffrey' comments a useful flag to carefully check whether a point someone is presenting is undercutting our morale and efforts.

One thing I have noticed with you is that your comments disproportionately bash the Republican party as a whole--which we all ALREADY KNOW is very troubled with far too many RINO's.

But the Republican Party IS our vehicle to defeat the Marxist Left. We're not going to waste massive time getting tied up in the administrative detail of starting-up a completely new party-- that would be a devastating dilution of our efforts.

So stop trying to discourage people with an inaccurate broad-strokes bashing of Republican office holders. We have many real Republican HEROES in office who are demonstrating amazing strength, courage, articulateness, and sheer fortitude, and the number of such individuals has been continually expanding.

If all you can do is continually bash Republican officeholders indiscriminately, then that would be an indication of the specific FUD task you have been assigned, to attempt to demoralize Republicans about eachother.

    6. TPG, there are a few RINO'S I cannot stand. They have my enduring contempt.
The sad part is that most of the people we send to the swamp eventually get bought out or blackmailed. Some maintain high standards, but it is evident they are either paid or pressured.
If they cross President Trump, I usually have a problem with that. President Trump isn't perfect, he has made mistakes. If a republican were to call him on something like his bumpstock ban, I would agree. That and his support of fraud Fauci were his biggest mistakes, both forgiven by me.
As to Edutcher, his Jeffery garbage is why I trash on him. When he backs off, I back off. I've never commented on his precious Pirate's Cove, didn't know or care that it existed until he started his shit. I've been following Don a long time going back to when he was with the Daily Mail. 8. TPGal, I'm going to defend JeremyR here. He may have been too enthusiastic firing back at Ed, but good ol' Ed deserves it. As I've said, Ed can offer some good insight, but then he blows it by his constant name calling. That's not contributing. That's middle school behavior. And, like JeremyR, I think it stinks up the place. Others have said to just let it go, but then Ed goes too far again. And, along with his name calling is his superior attitude, as if his is the final word on the issue. So, until Ed starts behaving like an adult, some here will keep calling him out, as I've done on occasion. Give him a free ride if you want to, I usually do, but sometimes he's just too much.

Regarding Republicans...I've said repeatedly that they're worthless and have been for decades. Conservatives all over the internet agree that they just can't be trusted. Yes, there are a few that say a lot of the right things from time to time, but that's about it. Trump is helping this time around by campaigning against RINOs, so we all hope it gets better, but they have a hell of along way to go before they can claim they're saving the Republic. You know who's saving the Republic? Everyday, actual Americans who are practicing civil disobedience. School mothers and employees demonstrating against the mandates are doing the hard work and taking risks. How many Republicans in Congress are taking any actual career risks? So, in my view, Republicans deserve all the bad press they getting from frustrated conservatives.

    9. AWJ, I agree 100%. I would give Gal a pass thinking she might have been absent on all those uncalled for broadsides from Ed.

However she also seems to give an uncalled for pass to establishment Republicans who are just about as culpable as the Marxists in Washington for a troubles.

At election time we should take no prisoners.

    10. JeremyR, AWJ, and Epstein, I definitely do not 'give a pass' to Republican RINO's. I completely agree with JeremyR that "too many people sent to the swamp eventually get bought out or blackmailed' (or simply intimidated). It is very dismaying. Our WV Senator Capito is an especially maddening case.

But "the perfect cannot be the enemy of the very good" (especially in POLITICS!). Again, the Republican party IS our vehicle, and being disproportionate in indulging in continual contempt towards the RINO component ITSELF can constitute an insidious effort to demoralize Republicans from within.

We have enough discouragement pressing down on us as it is. It is NOT helpful, nor does it accomplish anything, to beat on the existence of not-yet-redeemed portion of the Republican party. Lay out clearly the specifics that expose a particular RINO, and inform people, and strengthen the efforts to primary and defeat them. (Don does a great job of this.)
But balance criticism of the RINO problem with celebration of the remarkable courage and articulateness of our current Republican heroes. Because their courage is both tremendously inspiring, and very effective.

And Zregime-- haha! I always appreciate your spiritual perspective. Truly, this is what will sustain us through to victory.

But why the hell cant Rs read the damn law and follow the clearly prescribed steps to fix the problem? Instead of naming the Virginia Republican Party as plaintiff, the Virginia Institute for Public Policy filed as plaintiff so people would donate to the nonprofit to “fight the fraud.” But all they achieved is getting the case thrown out. 1. Also really appreciate this one too. Our real celebration of the Christmas season this year will bring a spiritual lift and light to our troubled American politics.

Actually, I remember back when we had the beginnings of an Ebola outbreak during Obama's term, was it fall of 2010?? or fall of 2012 ?? Anyway, Obama was foolishly refusing to stop persons coming in to America from the African hospots, and there were starting to be some Ebola cases in Texas and the East Coast.

That could have developed into a very bad situation, but I remember noticing at the time, that as the election approached, media attention was distracted and there was a dip in public focus on Ebola, and then the holidays arrived, and Americans became immersed in all the wonderfulness of the season. They were focused on good, on joy, on family, on parties, on unselfishly trying to figure out what would be a good gift for the individuals they cared for, etc.

The Ebola story just faded from attention, and the media was not obsessed with pushing fear incessantly on people. It did seem back then, that the underlying spiritual light and lift of the holidays played a role in greatly dimishing that Ebola situation. I'm glad the holidays are again approaching this year!
