Court won't block Texas abortion law

Pope Francis said, “It is a life. A human life. Some say, ‘It’s not a person.’ It is a human life!”

Maybe the pope is Catholic after all.

Maybe the Supreme Court is too. 7 justices are listed as Catholic and 2 are Jews. (UPDATE: Gorsuch's religion is complicated.) They turned down requests to review the new Texas abortion law which took effect today. It gives women 6 weeks to decide. After that, an abortion is illegal.

Life Site News reported, "Texas just became the first state in nearly 50 years to be allowed to protect unborn babies by banning almost all abortions.

"On Wednesday, the state heartbeat law went into effect, prohibiting abortions once an unborn baby’s heartbeat is detectable, about six weeks of pregnancy. The legislation has the potential to save tens of thousands of babies’ lives in Texas, including about 100 every day."

It is a heartbeat law, which holds that once the baby's heart beats, its right to life exceeds a woman's right not to give birth.

Several states tried this approach. Only Texas has apparently succeeded.

Life Site News said, "Up until now, state heartbeat laws have been blocked in court. The precedent established in Roe v. Wade prohibits states from banning abortions before an unborn baby is viable. But the Texas law is unique from other heartbeat laws because it includes a private enforcement mechanism that allows people to file lawsuits against abortionists who violate the law."

That Texas is the center of the abortion debate makes sense. 50 years ago, Roe v. Wade was a feminist challenge to Texas abortion law.

Liberals are upset because they see the end of this unholy era of baby killing.

Fox News reported that CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin (best known for masturbating in a Zoom call) freaked out.

He said, "Doom is coming for Roe v. Wade."

Good.

And he said, "There are five justices … who seem like solid votes to overturn Roe v. Wade. We've been accused, those of us saying that Roe is about to be overturned, as being Chicken Little, the sky is falling, the sky is falling. We'll see, because it certainly looks like the sky is falling now."

They know Roe v. Wade is doomed because they know Roe v. Wade was a bad decision that was based on a pack of lies about gangrapes and such.

The Supreme Court is on vacation until October. Liberals have complained that despite that, the court is hearing cases on an emergency basis.

The Guardian reported, "Last week, it was Remain in Mexico. On Tuesday, the supreme court issued an order requiring the Biden administration to reinstate the Trump-era policy that required asylum seekers from Central America to stay across the border in Mexico while their claims are adjudicated. It was an uncommonly aggressive intervention into foreign policy, an area where previous courts have preferred a light touch, and it posed massive logistical, diplomatic and humanitarian crises at the border that will need to be rapidly resolved if the Biden administration is to comply with the order.

"Two days later, it was the eviction moratorium. On Thursday, the court blocked an extension of the federal emergency ban on evictions, gutting a 1944 law that gave the CDC the authority to implement such measures to curb disease, and endangering the 8m American households that are behind on rent – who now, without federal eviction protection, may face homelessness.

"Both of these orders last week were issued in the dead of night. Their opinions were truncated, light on the details of their legal reasoning, and unsigned. Vote counts were not issued showing how each justice decided. And despite the enormous legal and human impact that the decisions inflicted, they were the product of rushed, abbreviated proceedings. The court did not receive full briefs on these matters, heard no oral arguments and overrode the normal sequence of appellate proceedings to issue their orders.

"Welcome to the Shadow Docket, the so-called emergency proceedings that now constitute the majority of the Supreme Court’s business."

Now liberals complain that they cannot get on that Shadow Docket.

I say to them, be careful of what you wish for.

Prenatal science has advanced. We now know that a baby's heart beats far sooner than we thought in 1973, when Roe v. Wade was decided.

But this is not about science. This is about the fundamental rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Abortion rights certainly fall in that last category, but life trumps them all.

Which brings me back to the pope.

He said, “It is a life. A human life. Some say, ‘It’s not a person.’ It is a human life!” the pontiff said in regard to the unborn child killed in abortion.

“So, faced with a human life I ask myself two questions: Is it licit to eliminate a human life to solve a problem, is it fair to eliminate a human life to solve a problem?

“Second question: Is it right to hire a paid assassin to solve a problem?

“We are living in a throwaway culture. What is useless is discarded.”

He defined that as “the old… and the terminally ill; and the unwanted children, they are returned to sender before they are born.”

It is a doomed society that demands its people recycle plastic bottles, separating them into three bins, while we throw away lives like this.

  3. Jeffrey Toobin got his co-worker Jeff Greenfield's daughter pregnant, demanded she have an abortion and, when she did not refused to admit paternity or provide support for the child. In court, DNA proved Toobin the father and judge ordered support.

What wonderful people our betters on CNN are!

  6. Maybe we criticize Tuber Toobin too much. When he did his exhibitionist Zoom performance, perhaps he was simply demonstrating that self-gratification could be an alternative to actual sex.

On second thought, he never once mentioned this excuse so I guess our first impression that he is just a pervert is correct.

  8. This all has nothing to do with "women's rights" as the stinking left keeps trying to push. It's a horridly morbid money making scheme by Planned Parenthood that should be totally exposed. This ranks right up there with all the Epstein evidence we will never see. If someone talks, it will be suppressed and they will die...simple as that!!!

  10. I get the definite feeling Roberts is awaiting the reinstatement of Donald Trump.

Maybe the pope is Catholic after all.

Frank is still a Commie. Although, like Roberts, he may be awaiting a change of command.

    1. Well, Robert's was trapped. He had instituted what is fondly referenced as the Robert's Rule for overturning a previous administration's EO's. He stopped Trump on the DACA rules being overturned.

So in order to remain consistent, he had to slap down Biden. He had not done the things necessary to countermand Trump's EO on this issue. The deep state hung itself out to dry.

  11. The Supreme Court allowing legislatures to legislate? The fact that they did not hear the case should strike far more fear into liberals than if they had ruled affirmatively on the case. A non-activist court means that liberals would have to WIN state legislatures and actually build a political coalition and not just nominate and intimidate Supreme Court justices.

  13. By the way - I actually went to the Guardian site and read many of the comments. Both the author and many commenters were in fact just plain stupid, and had no idea what they were talking about. Talk about stupid people bloviating over stuff they don't understand.

Hey Guardian lefties. Here is a little hint. When Trump was in office and tried to get DACA stopped, an EO from Obama that was in fact illegal, the Roberts Court invented out of whole cloth this review rule for rescinding a previous administration's EO.

The asylum ruling Biden tried to overturn, while already openly violating it, was done in violation of this ruling. Now we can all complain that Robert's was out of line to begin with, but that is the rule promulgated by a judge in good standing with the deep state. Biden violated that procedure. Duh leftist dumbbells. The rule you cheered came back to bite your guy in the behind.

Two, your complaints about allowing landlords to kick out deadbeat tenants after months of non-payments. When the CDC extended this before, Justice Kavanaugh took the opportunity to say that he didn't think they had the authority to do what they did, but since it was soon to expire he let it pass. He further mentioned how he felt it was necessary for congress to act, and that failing to do that, no executive agency action would withstand legal scrutiny. It was a pretty direct notice to Biden. Get something through congress or else.

Biden when announcing the order to further restrict landlords whimsically said it probably wasn't constitutional but he was going to do it anyway. Totally disregarding Kavanaugh's warning, he blatantly and tyrannically reissued the rule. Just daring SCOTUS to just tell him to get ... well, you know.

If you want to look at the Roe ruling, everything is about viability outside the womb. We learn more about it everyday and people are increasingly looking at the that mass of cells as a baby, not something else. Thus eroding Roes impact. Roe continues to be a hideous ruling, one of the top unconstitutional power grabs in the history of the court. Science, and by that I mean real science, not the fake posturing science that lefties love, is serving as the warm up for Roe's ultimate demise.
