It's Cuomo time for Biden

The Surrender of August 15 has united Americans as no world event since, well, 9/11. In one fell swoop, Joe Biden threw away 20 years of hard work, sacrifices, ultimate sacrifices, and the nation's prestige just to accommodate the very people who cultivated and protected al Qaeda.

CNN reported, "Democrats grapple with Afghanistan fallout after Biden administration ignored their previous warnings."

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled his country on Monday.

Biden may be next.

The swamp critters are not rallying behind him. The New York Times wrote, "Intelligence Warned of Afghan Military Collapse, Despite Biden’s Assurances."

Someone in the media may be defending Biden, but I cannot find that person.

He is losing the country.

The Trafalgar Group survey found 69% disapproval when it asked Americans "What best describes how you feel about how President Biden is handling US military operations in Afghanistan?"

Only 23% approve.

Among Democrats, 48% disapprove and 40% approve.

You have to go back 47 years ago to Watergate to find an issue that received as big a rebuke of a president as the Sissy Surrender.

It is not that Kabul fell. It is not that the Taliban took over Afghanistan again.

What really hurts Americans is to see Biden give the terrorists all that equipment and all those military bases.

Not only are thousands of Afghanis who helped us in our war in peril, but in withdrawing, Biden left behind 15,000 Americans.

Reuters reported, "President Joe Biden's approval rating dropped by 7 percentage points and hit its lowest level so far as the U.S.-backed Afghan government collapsed over the weekend in an upheaval that sent thousands of civilians and Afghan military allies fleeing for their safety, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll."

The cratering has only begun.

That CNN story said, "Democrats on Capitol Hill are grappling with the political fallout in Washington of a crisis they warned the Biden administration months ago could become a fiasco on the world stage, as horrific images pour out of Kabul with residents desperately trying to flee.

"Democrats are now in the midst of a political firestorm and struggling to find a way to both back President Joe Biden on an exit from Afghanistan many thought was long overdue, while acknowledging the administration made major tactical mistakes that could have been avoided.

"Members of his party in Congress nearly all backed Biden when he announced plans to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan in April, but many Democrats have been infuriated by the administration's slow response to evacuating Afghans who worked alongside the US military and are now at risk. The images of a hasty withdrawal of Americans and the chaos at the Kabul airport are conflicting with the administration's claims that they were carrying out an orderly withdrawal."

It's not that the optics are bad.

It is that the situation is deplorable.

Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, a Pennsylvania Democrat and Air Force veteran, told CNN, "These past few days have been difficult to process, and not because the Taliban's progress was surprising.

"In fact, the opposite. We sounded the alarm, and our dire warnings fell on deaf ears."

Mike Pence took Biden to the woodshed in a Wall Street Journal column.

Pence wrote, "The Biden administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan is a foreign-policy humiliation unlike anything our country has endured since the Iran hostage crisis.

"It has embarrassed America on the world stage, caused allies to doubt our dependability, and emboldened enemies to test our resolve. Worst of all, it has dishonored the memory of the heroic Americans who helped bring terrorists to justice after 9/11, and all who served in Afghanistan over the past 20 years.

"In February 2020, the Trump administration reached an agreement that required the Taliban to end all attacks on U.S. military personnel, to refuse terrorists safe harbor, and to negotiate with Afghan leaders on creating a new government. As long as these conditions were met, the U.S. would conduct a gradual and orderly withdrawal of military forces.

"Unanimously endorsed by the United Nations Security Council, the agreement immediately brought to Afghanistan a stability unseen in decades. In the past 18 months, the U.S. has not suffered a single combat casualty there."

Conservatives may have soured on Pence, but he still has pull with Washington Republicans.

And the facts are on his side.

We had achieved peace, and were willing to exit gracefully.

Biden blew it.

He must pay. He must walk the plank. He must get on the helicopter with Jill, wave buh-bye to a crowd of reporters, and fly back to Delaware.

Don't think it won't happen. Corporate media and the deep state seem to want to get rid of him.

Consider that Times story that I mentioned.

It said, "Classified assessments by American spy agencies over the summer painted an increasingly grim picture of the prospect of a Taliban takeover of Afghanistan and warned of the rapid collapse of the Afghan military, even as President Biden and his advisers said publicly that was unlikely to happen as quickly, according to current and former American government officials.

"By July, many intelligence reports grew more pessimistic, questioning whether any Afghan security forces would muster serious resistance and whether the government could hold on in Kabul, the capital. President Biden said on July 8 that the Afghan government was unlikely to fall and that there would be no chaotic evacuations of Americans similar to the end of the Vietnam War.

"The drumbeat of warnings over the summer raise questions about why Biden administration officials, and military planners in Afghanistan, seemed ill-prepared to deal with the Taliban’s final push into Kabul, including a failure to ensure security at the main airport and rushing thousands more troops back to the country to protect the United States’ final exit.

"One report in July — as dozens of Afghan districts were falling and Taliban fighters were laying siege to several major cities — laid out the growing risks to Kabul, noting that the Afghan government was unprepared for a Taliban assault, according to a person familiar with the intelligence.

"Intelligence agencies predicted that should the Taliban seize cities, a cascading collapse could happen rapidly and the Afghan security forces were at high risk of falling apart. It is unclear whether other reports during this period presented a more optimistic picture about the ability of the Afghan military and the government in Kabul to withstand the insurgents."

To be sure, this could be CYA by the CIA, but I don't think so.

My rule is if I can see it in Poca, West Virginia, those up close and personal already saw it. The Fall of Saigon is ancient history to my children, but to me it happened last week. My son calls this the telescoping of time. And the Fall of Saigon happened last week to many of the people in Washington.

Since Nixon's resignation, we have had three (four if you count Trump) presidents lose their bid for a second term. And we have seen three impeachment trials in that time.

A week ago, the news was Biden got 19 senators to sign on and pass his infrastructure bill.

In the 1949 film, "White Heat," James Cagney playing the gangster Cody Jarrett said, "Made it, Ma! Top of the world!"

And then the tank exploded.

  3. When I saw the disasters that Biden has caused in the past 7 months, the southern border in particular, I expected stupidity in the Afghanistan draw down; but not this degree of stupidity. When we abandoned Bagram Air Base I knew the withdrawal was doomed. Remove the military first and stop air cover for the Afgan Army, then rescue somehow the civilian Americans, that was beyond stupid.

  5. Will this rally the Establishment to the cause of forensic election audits of the November 3, 2020 fiasco? Otherwise, it's President Kamala Harris and they already know how that would turn out.

    1. Suppose for a moment that top Dems flipped and started supporting the election audits. Fever dream, right? Maybe not, if they think strategically. A finding of widespread election fraud would (possibly) reinstate President Trump, which would solve their “President Biden or President Harris?” dilemma. Trump’s second term would (possibly) be cut down to 3 years, and he would not be able to run a third time. Pence would also be reinstated, which would push DeSantis off the stage for a while. Meanwhile, their supporters’ TDS would return in spades, giving them a unifying rallying cry for 2024. For them, it might be preferable to “lose the battle” than keep Biden and/or Harris in place and thereby “lose the war.”

  6. “Biden blew it. He must pay. He must walk the plank. He must get on the helicopter with Jill, wave buh-bye to a crowd of reporters, and fly back to Delaware.” Everybody has known from the moment Biden’s minion stole the election that he would not make it through his “first” four-year term. Unfortunately, his handlers chose an Affirmative Action Vice President instead of someone who could take over the duties and responsibilities of running the free world. So now what?

Biden’s job approval is cratering, down-ballot Dems will abandon the sinking ship (“retire”) in record numbers, and 2022 will be a rout. They’re stuck. What to do? Remove him via the 25A process? “Encourage” him to resign for “medical reasons”? Put him back in his basement? Let him keep pretending to be President, while collecting the scorn of the entire international community and Americans alike? It’s a delicious dilemma of the Dem’s own making.

Gee, that’s a tough choice, like saying, “Would you rather be shot or stabbed?” Biden doesn’t go around calling random people by the name of his imaginary friend, but maybe that’s because everything he says is written by someone else. On the other hand, edoucher doesn’t abandon tens of thousands of Americans to certain death in a foreign country, but maybe that’s because he’s not in a position to do that even if he wanted to. Both minds are shot, it seems, and each may be a danger to themselves or others, but Biden is worse because he holds the levers of power, while edoucher just persists in stupid name-calling on a blog.

They doubtless went along with Trump being screwed because he was going to eventually end the war, as long as there was somebody who would do as told, similar to Zippy, but one who would do exactly as told.

The Demos have a very delicate balance of power right now and a lot of people think the 25th amendment is out. Quite possibly true. And getting him to go for the "good of the (insert cliche)" won't work, either.

He fought the "smart guys who look down their noses at" him all his life. I really don't think he gives up the top slot now. Which is why I think he really did do this one on his own.

Somebody said something to him about this was a really bad idea, kind of like the captain of Titanic saying, "Hey, pull over. We're low on ice", and he decided he was going to dig in his heels because, c'mon, man, he's the President.

My guess is we're going to see another Amendment applied. The Harry Reid Amendment, and it's going to be applied to a lot of people. Way too many people long past their sell by date and too many idiot ideologues like the Os and the Ozarks

    He is losing the country.

'Scuse me, but when did he ever have it?
