Highlights of the News

GOOD MORNING! No curling news today, but great soccer news. Sweden shut out the virtue signaling Fake American women's team 3-0 in their Olympics opener.

USA! USA! USA!

ITEM 1: The Foundation for Economic Education reported, "Grocery Prices Could Rise 10% to 14% By October, Grocery Chain CEO Warns."

So the CEO of Gristedes Foods is saying inflation will slow down, because grocery prices already are much higher than the 5.4% official inflation rate.

ITEM 2: National Review reported, "A federal judge temporarily blocked an Arkansas law that would ban gender-transition surgery for minors, in a ruling on Wednesday.

"The American Civil Liberties Union sued to scrap the law in May on behalf of four transgender youths and two doctors who provide gender-transition surgeries. The law, initially set to take effect on July 28, would revoke the medical licenses of doctors who administer gender-transition surgery or puberty blockers to minors."

Obama judge.

The damage is permanent. A real judge should have erred on the side of caution.

Many times the audacity of the arrogance of liberals just astounds me.

ITEM 3Newsweek reported, "Police on Wednesday used water cannons and tear gas on a gathering of demonstrators in Athens, Greece, protesting the government's covid 19 vaccine requirement, the Associated Press reported.

"Workers who do not follow the order, which would require all employees of nursing homes and care facilities to be vaccinated by the middle of August, could face suspension without pay.

"Hours after the Greek government submitted the bill, protests began outside of the parliament building. After demonstrators tried to break through a police cordon, police began firing the tear gas and water cannons at the crowd."

What happens to the nursing home patients when all the employees are suspended without pay?

ITEM 4UPI reported, "Life expectancy in the United States declined by a year and a half during 2020 due in large part to the coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday in a new report, marking the steepest decline since the second world war.

"According to the report, Americans as a whole saw their life expectancy from birth shorten from 78.8 years in 2019 to 77.3 years in 2020, the largest decline since 2.9 years were lost between 1942 and 1943."

Heckuva job, Tony Fauci.

By the way, the deaths of thousands of U.S. soldiers accounted for much of the 1942-1943 drop in life expectancy.

ITEM 5: The New York Post reported, "Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he doesn’t believe the 'endgame is yet written' in Afghanistan as US troops near the withdrawal deadline and called on Afghan forces to exert their 'will' to keep militant Taliban fighters from taking over the country.

"Speaking about the pace of the US military drawdown with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin at a news conference on Wednesday, Milley said the remaining weeks before the Aug. 31 deadline for the US military pullout will tell the fate of the war-torn country."

We learned nothing from Vietnam. Not one thing.

Instead of teaching our military leaders those lessons, we gave them classes on critical race theory.

The white rage, Mister Milley, is anger that you stupid SOBs threw away the lives of thousands of Americans, likely a million Afghanis, and trillions of dollars playing politics.

I now know why George Washington wanted no standing army because eventually we will use one foolishly.

ITEM 6: Fox reported, "Texas Dem who skirted votes on maskless DC flight says Texas needs 'universal mask-wearing.'"

She claims she was vaccinated and got covid in DC anyway.

She did not wear a mask in the Fox interview.

Those flee baggers are such a Motley Crew that Tommy Lee should be their drummer.

ITEM 7: DPA reported, "The US and Germany have reached a breakthrough in their conflict regarding the German-Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline, U.S. State Department diplomat Victoria Nuland said on Wednesday.

"Berlin also confirmed that a breakthrough had been reached, which should help to facilitate the intended new start in US-German ties after the difficult years under former President Donald Trump."

Merkel rolled Biden like the town drunk.

ITEM 8Foreign Policy reported, "The Chinese province of Henan has been hit by record rainfall and widespread flooding, especially the provincial capital of Zhengzhou, which has seen torrential storms since Monday. At least 25 people have died, according to official reports, and the number is likely to grow considerably larger.

"Previous flooding in Chinese cities, such as the devastating storms in Beijing in 2012, have often been connected to inadequate and outdated drainage systems. As Zhengzhou expanded, flood peaks increased by as much as 30%. But Zhengzhou has spent heavily on upgrading its drainage as part of the 'sponge city' concept established in China in 2014, which looks to absorb and recycle large amounts of water. The system seems simply to have been overwhelmed by the sheer volume of rain; the city received its usual annual rainfall in the space of three days—roughly 30 times the normal amount for the season. Nearly 8 inches of rain fell in a single hour alone."

Maybe the government-built drainage system was a bad idea poorly executed. Why would Red China's government be any better than ours?

But blame climate change. It ate my homework, too.

ITEM 9: UPI reported, "Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said Wednesday that his government will hold a referendum on a controversial new law that bars materials intended for children from containing LGBTQ content.

"Orban said the referendum is aimed at child protection in the law, which has been widely condemned as discriminatory against LGBTQ persons.

"The law bans portrayals of LGBTQ content in schools through amendments that were made to a national child sex abuse law."

Leave kids alone.

Let them decide these things at 18.

ITEM 10: Just the News reported, "House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday says he's prepared to pull all five of his picks for the chamber's select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol attack, after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected two of them – GOP Reps. Jim Banks and Jim Jordan."

McCarthy huffs.

McCarthy puffs.

If McCarthy really cared, he would publicly out the cop who killed Ashli Babbitt.

Till then, this is just junk Republicans say in email solicitations for money.

ITEM 11: Breitbart reported, "The California Third District Court of Appeals ruled unanimously Friday that a 2017 state law requiring nursing homes to use patients’ preferred pronouns violates First Amendment free speech rights.

"The law, SB 219, was authored by Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco). As Breitbart News reported at the time, it provided for jail sentences of up to one year for using the wrong pronoun."

Control the language, control the thought. Control the thought, control the people.

ITEM 12: The Washington Free Beacon reported, "Two New York City Ivy League lawyers will stand trial in March 2022 for allegedly firebombing a police cruiser and distributing Molotov cocktails during the George Floyd riots last summer.

"Defense lawyers for Colinford Mattis and Urooj Rahman have been in plea negotiations with federal prosecutors since February but have not come to terms, prompting U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan to set a trial schedule for both defendants. Pretrial motions are due on Sept. 17 and jury selection will begin on March 14, 2022.

"The accused enjoy widespread support and sympathy from New York’s legal and media elites. Rahman is represented by one of the city’s best defense attorneys, and a former Obama administration official guaranteed her bail in the amount of $250,000. Both have been the subject of favorable profiles in New York magazine and NPR, among other venues."

Meanwhile, Democrats are working to disbar Rudy Giuliani, a true American hero.

ITEM 13: The Week reported, "There are now 43 candidates in California's recall election, after a judge ruled on Wednesday that conservative radio talk show host Larry Elder can be put on the ballot."

The secretary of state found a Jim Crow reason to keep Elder off the ballot. A judge trumped the secretary of state.

The story said, "Under a 2019 law, anyone running for state office in California must file their tax returns in order to be put on a primary ballot, and Elder sued the secretary of state, saying this should not be a requirement for a recall election. Judge Laurie M. Earl ruled in his favor on Wednesday, saying, 'I don't find Mr. Elder was required to file tax returns at all.'"

Democrats are desperate to hang on to the governor's office.

Elder should double up on security.

ITEM 14: ABC reported, "Desert in distress? New study ranks Arizona as worst place to live in 2021."

Duh.

It's a desert, which is the worst place to live, period.

Second worst was Texas. As General Philip Henry Sheridan said when they named him military governor of Texas after the Civil war, "If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent out Texas and live in Hell."

But this report is not based on livability. It is based holier-than-thou leftist policy. CNBC compiled a list of bad states based on such subjective and undefined things as voting rights and inclusiveness.

This is nonsense. Every citizen 18 and older can vote and the Constitution bans excluding people on the basis of their sex or race.

ITEM 15: The Daily Express reported, "The prime minister is facing his biggest backbench rebellion to date over his plan to introduce compulsory vaccine passports from September. Conservative backbenchers were left outraged when Mr. Johnson confirmed last night his intention to make Covid vaccines necessary for entry to nightclubs.

"The announcement caught MPs off guard, with the plans sprung on the public unexpectedly.

"Ministers had previously ruled out introducing any form of passporting for domestic events but U-turned last week saying proof of two jabs, a negative test, or natural antibodies was recommended for large, indoor gatherings.

"Yesterday Mr. Johnson went further by saying proof of double vaccination would be a legal requirement to access nightclubs and similar events from the end of September."

Enough, I say.

Enough, enough, enough.

Live free or die.

Heck, live free and die.

ITEM 16: Breitbart reported, "Unless Congress raises or suspends the debt ceiling, the federal government will most likely run out of money in October or November, the Congressional Budget Office said Wednesday."

At last, some good news.

Don't raise the ceiling, lower the spending.

ITEM 17The Blaze reported, "49 fully vaccinated people in New Jersey have died from covid 19."

This does not instill public confidence in the vaccine.

FINALLY, The New York Post reported, "Biden will push Ukraine’s president to ‘tackle corruption’ when he visits White House."

When President Trump did the same thing, Democrats impeached him.

    Math:

As of 09 Jun 4,511,429 NJ residents vaccinated.

12 Jul - 2 weeks = 28 Jun (2 weeks after shot completion is considered "fully vaccinated")
28 Jun - 18.5 days = 09 Jun (18.5 days is average from first COVID symptoms to death)

    49 / 4.511 mil = 0.0011% or 11 per mil

Death Rate from COVID w/o vaccine = 0.15% or 1500 per mil (Infection Fatality Rate)

Vaccinations reduce chance of dying from COVID over 100 than w/o vaccination.

  25. #13 Gov. Nuisance might not have as easy sailing through the recall as he obviously thinks.

There is talk of him shutting down California again, since covid cases have been increasing in SoCal again. This is being blamed on the Delta variant, but SoCal docs say that almost all of their covid patients have not been vaccinated. This is in spite of over half of Californians already being vaccinated.

So why? Un-vaccinated illegal aliens, just like at the beginning of this year. The wave overwhelmed hospitals in SoCal, swept up the Central Valley, mysteriously avoided Sacramento, and rolled into Reno before it stopped.

Shutting California down again could lose the recall for Newsom. As could more big fires, heat waves (cause widespread blackouts), and more big companies leaving the state. Not to mention Larry Elder just getting put back on the ballot.
