Suddenly Democrats hate bipartisanship

One month ago, CNN clucked its tongue and posted, " 'Bipartisanship' is a dirty word for Senate Republicans." Tut-tut. Poor sportsmanship.

But now that Democrats Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin have shown some willingness to work with Republicans, the cable channel opposes bipartisanship. Its story on Friday was "Manchin offers little comfort to frustrated Democrats."

The media labels Manchin reaching out to Republicans as bad because the media defines bipartisanship only as Republicans capitulating to Democrats.

With a nearly even divide in Congress -- a 50/50 Senate and a 220-212 House -- compromise should be the only way to pass major legislation.

But Democrats want to add two Democrat states, have Congress take over elections, pack the Supreme Court, forgive student loans, and otherwise destroy our constitutional republic with only 50 votes in the Senate.

Michelle Goldberg of the New York Times provided a good summary of the entitlement that the Entitled Generation of college graduates believes is theirs following the 2020 election.

She wrote, "Democrats hope that Manchin, who has said Democrats should have faith that there are “10 good people” in the Republican caucus, will lessen his opposition to filibuster reform when Senate Republicans repeatedly prove him wrong. It’s harder to know what Sinema actually believes and thus what could sway her; she seems above all dedicated to a view of herself as a quirky maverick, and delights in trolling the Democrats who elected her. In April, after infuriating progressives by voting against including a federal minimum wage increase in the coronavirus relief package, she posted an Instagram photo of herself wearing a ring spelling out a dismissive obscene phrase that begins with F and ends with off.

"This gap between the scale of the catastrophe bearing down on us and the blithe refusal of Manchin and Sinema to help is enough to leave one frozen with despair. Democrats have no discernible leverage over Manchin and little over Sinema, though they ought to consider primarying her. (Unlike Manchin, she’s not the only Democrat who could win a Senate seat in her state.) Those who want our democracy to endure have no choice but to keep asking, imploring and cajoling these two lawmakers to value it above the false idol of bipartisanship, but so far there’s little sign they will.

"So we’re stuck. The overarching story of American politics right now is that Republicans are laying the groundwork to accomplish legally what they failed to do by force on Jan. 6. Sinema could help fortify our country against a tide of Trumpist authoritarianism that could soon wash away everything that makes it worthwhile. Instead she’s showing us her ring."

Primarying Sinema is a great strategy because she won't be up for re-election until 2024, and goodness knows how many other covids Red China will unleash on us by then.

The opposition to compromise is so fierce and so seemingly illogical that I wonder if the plan by Democrats is to portray Republicans as obstructionists and really gain the House and Senate in 2022.

More likely, we are seeing how old and weak Democrats are. A new generation keeps them in power but their demands are best left ignored. What better way than to find a scapegoat to blame for the failure, Mister Phil E. Buster.

Besides, why compromise when Chairman Biden has a pen and a phone?

It might not pack the court or grant statehood to DC and Puerto Rico, but it can accomplish the rest.

  1. The Democrat rhetoric is so strongly similar to Soviet-era rhetorical attacks on their enemies and on dissenters.

    1. And as we can see, they follow the Soviet intelligence Beria chief's statement to Joseph Stalin, "Show me a man and I will find a crime"

    3. Yep - Nevada just institutionalized cheating. SO when we take the congress, I guess to take a book out of the dems playbooks we forbid mail in balloting?

    4. It's called lowered expectations, Jeffery.

Thing is, they've got 2 of the least popular pols in the top spots, and another as Speaker. All are being led by the crazies and you never let the crazies run things.

  3. Not only are the House and Senate Democrats going to get thumped in 2022, but Democrat lockdown governors like Evers and Half-Whitmer et al, are going to be soundly thrashed. Heck if MAGA patriots switch parties and vote in the Democrat primaries they won't make it to the finals.

  4. The DNC stenographers employed by the NYTimes have their panties in a bunch because of the prospect the USA will join all the Democratic Socialists countries of Europe (including the Scandinavian counties — which are the only thing remaining which gives old coot Bernie a hard-on nowadays — as part of the approximately 41 European Countries which require voter id) and foil the Democrats bloodlust for an authoritarian America (which in their sick, twisted, malfunctioning minds, would save Democracy in America.

The lunacy is so thick you can feel it in the air in the DC Bubble.

    1. This lunacy of which you speak: when is it not so thick in the DC bubble?

    4. Not voter ID.

      It's reinstatement.

    5. I go to Mexico quite often and I talk to normal people there. The have to appear in person to request and pickup their voter photo ID card with their thumb print on it.
I have read that we are the only country in the world that has voting that does not require voter ID. And why and who wants that to remain the fact in the US.
I even met a black gentleman, who said on his own, he obtained a photo ID to drive and vote. Amazing since the MSM has said that isn't possible.

  5. Bipartisanship for them was the Russians' idea of peaceful coexistence: Let us do anything we want and don't complain.

They may end up wishing they'd gone along to get along.

Quote from the God Emperor of the Cherry Blossom Throne, "We’re gonna take back the Senate, take back the House, we’re gonna take back the White House – and sooner than you think."

Make of that what you will, but, like Hitler in Russia, the Demos keep making the same stupid mistake over and over. In this case, they have to run roughshod over everybody and end up getting killed in the midterms.

This assumes sort-of honest elections (we are talking Democrats), but it's how things always go.

Remember, the hard line Demos have yet to lift their lockdowns.

  6. Still say anyone who is so confident the dems will lose in 2022 is setting up for another terrible disappointment, worse than trumps victory being stolen. Next time, they will cheat so blatantly and in your face, not fearing what anyone says because they own the FBI, DOJ, press etc. Who would dare reverse the obvious fraud? Anyone? Crickets.......

    1. Cheating at the local level is a lot harder to do. They can do that effectively at the state level in a presidential race by adding 100,000 "found" votes from key urban areas, but that doesn't work at the congressional or legislative level. Adding manufactured votes to districts that they routinely win with 90% is useless, while Republican votes are distributed more efficiently and they win more suburban and rural districts by closer margins.

Nevertheless, 2022 is not going to be a cakewalk in any event, and Don addressed this a couple of weeks ago.

    2. Don't underestimate the Dems when it comes to cheating. Some are quite creative and use measures we haven't imagined. Navy is correct that they have the entire swamp at their back.
