Critical race theory kills a school levy

Voters in Rocky River, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, voted down a school levy last Tuesday in a rebuke of teaching critical race theory. CRT promotes the notion that America is overrun with systemic racism.

Via 100% Fed Up, Dr. Ben Carson said, "Critical Race Theory is a deliberate means to sow division and cripple our nation from within–one brainwashed and resentful student at time. And while foreign adversaries like China and Russia surely work to enflame our divisions, we are doing this to ourselves."

Rocky River voters said no. This was the first time since 2012 that voters rejected a school levy in Rocky River.

School officials deny teaching CRT, telling the Plain Dealer that they instead give diversity training. They also deny CRT shot down the school levy.

School district spokesman Greg Murphy said, "We had a lot of hope that Issue 11 would pass, but understand that the last year has been difficult on everyone for a number of reasons.

"We are proud of our schools and all of the dedicated people who work so hard in providing a quality education for our students. We will continue to work with residents and the community on how we can better serve them and earn their support when we return to the ballot."

In short, school officials will force voters to vote on the levy again and again until voters are exhausted and pass the school tax. Expect popular activities to be cut first in an effort to push voters to increase their taxes.

The levy vote also came in the shadows of a criminal investigation that led to 5 male teachers resigning and 1 retiring. They apparently shared pictures of 1 girl student.

Superintendent Michael Shoaf said, "In lieu of a lengthy employment termination process, the departure of these six staff members provides our school district with the swiftest route -- without litigation -- to provide 100% certainty that these individuals will not return to a Rocky River City School District classroom."

That happened in March.

The CRT story broke late, with robocalls to voters from Tom Zawistowski of the Ohio Tea Party.

He said, "There is a cancer growing in your community, and it must be stopped now. The Rocky River local school district has been infiltrated by radical Marxist teachers, staff and administrators who want to implement the racist, anti-American, nonsensical Critical Race Theory, which indoctrinates your children and grandchildren with race-based hatred of white people, of American history, and of capitalism, with the goal of the communist takeover of our nation. It's time for we the people of Rocky River to defend our nation, our history and our values. And we do that by defunding these radical communists and forcing their removal from our schools."

The district tried to play down CRT.

On Election Day, WOIO reported, "The district has partnered with the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio since 2013, offering justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) programming."

Programming?

Really?

The district is programming our children instead of educating them.

I think all the justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion kids need is in the Pledge of Allegiance. And the goal is equality, not equity.

I remember when schools taught the 3 Rs.

I also remember when schools were worthy of respect.

Finally, I remember united we stand, divided we fall.

  2. “The [school] district is programming our children instead of educating them.”

This is happening throughout the USA. And rather than “programming” the more honest word is “indoctrinating” - but I don’t expect any school district or “journalist” to be honest with the American People.

Any parent or grandparent who is not aware that their child(ren) or grandchild(ren) is(are) being indoctrinated with Left-Wing ideology in their public or (many, if not most) private school; or are too lazy to push back against it; are a big part of the problem.

Americans are losing more of their Liberty and Freedoms every day, and most Americans are unwilling to push back against the evil and the demented who are taking them away.

This feel good story which Don has shared needs to be multiplied a thousand-fold across the nation.

Looked at a nephew's history book, maybe 10 years ago. You'd get more out of the sidebars in a Dell comic book 50 years ago.

      Most Americans are pushing back.

Too much for the Lefties to handle.

    2. Notice the teachers union spokesperson,
'we are proud of our school and the people who work here'. Try instead saying we are proud of our school..the students, parents, volunteer and all who work here.' That's the problem, the teachers think they are the school..they are not

I am legally Native American, neither me or my children look like it, but neither me nor my children have ever used it for college scholarship or any other minority benefit since we have never really considered our selves minorities. But like the lady mentioned in the comment, waiting, no hoping, for some idiot progressive to get on my whiteness case. I am ready to cause them to attack me physically so I can unload on them all this frustration I have had over many years with these ignorant people. No more Mr Nice guy.
I've been called all sorts of names, received death threats and spit on before and after my peaceful and tolerant TEA Party days, so don't mess with me anymore, I tell people.

  4. Today we were told that the governor has signed a bill to mandate critical race theory teaching in the states's schools. This means a majority of each house in the legislature also approve of the CRT being taught.

    2. Washington - our governor is a joke. In the 2020 election, a small town police chief (Loren Culp) with zero business experience got 40% of the vote to overthrow this incumbent moron. We The People are fed up.

    4. Dave, sorry to break it to you Dude. Your State is a Joke. Your Governor was legitimately elected - no stealing the election was needed - and he is most definitely doing the will of the people who elected him.

Same with Governor Baby Doc and Mayor De Commie in New York.

Wake up Dave and smell the coffee. Washington is only a little behind California, but it’s still circling the toilet.

  6. I live in Rocky River and have kids in the schools, and CRT is not why the levy failed. Didn't even come up. People were upset about the other incident you mentioned though, and the district's poor handling of the situation upset everyone -- people who supported the teachers and the people who thought the worst of 'em.

    1. All the columnists say "Fight back!" Great. How do we do that without going to jail? Well, here's one way with regard to schools. Get agreement from as many fed up parents as possible and have them all keep their kids out of school for a week. If state funding is based on attendance, well, you can see how that will hurt. Do it as many times as necessary. Go to the board meetings and ask, "How do you like them apples? Get ready, more is coming." In the meantime, gather the kids in a local church and continue their instruction.

  11. I would suggest to these folks and others facing similar situations to gather up and go to the BOE meetings. Find out which board members support this garbage and vote them out. Be aware the superintendents and other school officials can be very deceitful by simply giving these programs a different name. This was done in my home county here in West Virginia back when they were selling Common Core.
If all else fails you might have to find a private school or even do home schooling.

  17. Greg, this women you refer to is “very intersectional.”

I used to wonder want “intersectional” meant. Then I learned through indoctrination from my employer that “intersection” is just a fancy way for Liberals to claim they have characteristics which make themselves special.

    Intersectional
    - Woman
    - Transgender
    - Black, Brown, basically, non-White POC
    - Gay
    - Lesbian
    - Queer
    - Muslim
    - Atheist
    - Fat
    - Drug Addicted (Hoover Biden*’s intersection - along with his sex addiction). He is literally a Crack Whore
    - Liberal, Progressive, Socialist (allows even an old White Male Multimillionaire like Bernie Sanders to claim he is oppressed)

  18. CRT moves in under the cloak of diversity or some other politically tolerable label. The voters got it right. If they want to indoctrinate students with CRT racist Marxist ideology strip them of all their funds.

  19. Why are all these woke DIE instructors who indoctrinate children and adults so obese and ugly?

    ReplyDelete
  20. CRT is a reactionary and regressive ideology or cult that wants to bring in revolutionary socialism through the back door. They call themselves "liberal", but they hate liberal democracy private ownership. All teachers and admins pushing CRT and CGT should be fired because they are subverting our nation.

    ReplyDelete
  21. There is no mandate to tolerate intolerance. CRT is an exceeding intolerant ideology that wishes to subvert our communities, and bring in Marxism through the back door. We do NOT have to tolerate CRT intolerance and reverse racism. Fire all council members and school board members who even mention diversity, inclusion, equity.
