Highlights of the News

CNN reported, "7 in 10 who watched say Biden's speech left them feeling optimistic."

Shouldn't that read 7 of the 10?

ITEM 1: The Associated Press reported, "A group of Midwestern farmers sued the federal government Thursday alleging they can't participate in a COVID-19 loan forgiveness program because they're white.

"The group of plaintiffs includes farmers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota and Ohio. According to the lawsuit, the Biden administration's COVID-19 stimulus plan provides $4 billion to forgive loans for socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers who are black, American Indian, Hispanic, Alaskan native, Asian American or Pacific Islander.

"White farmers aren't eligible, amounting to a violation of the plaintiffs' constitutional rights, the lawsuit contends."

I hope they win and the Bigots in the Biden Administration go to prison for violating basic civil rights.

In his 45 years of sucking on the federal teat, Biden has vowed to defend the Constitution. It is time he got off his butt and did so.

For shame.

And for shame to those bigots at AP who uppercase black but not white.

ITEM 2: Sayings from Chairman Joe.

PolitiFact rated it as true, true, true.

And Democrats leaped to their feet to give him a standing ovation.

ITEM 3: The Foundation for Economic Education reported, "The Seattle City Council is composed of left-wing politicians, many of whom openly embrace the socialist label. We’ve previously covered their efforts to punitively tax businesses, decriminalize property theft, and more. But as it turns out, City Councilmembers Kshama Sawant and Tammy Morales are collectively worth $3.5 million!"

The foundation cited Seattle-based radio host Jason Rantz, who said, "Sawant has built a brand over demonizing the rich. Not only did Sawant list her net worth as $550,000 this year, but it’s more than doubled since 2016 when it was listed as $270,000.

Morales has a net worth of $3 million.

Only the rich can afford socialism.

ITEM 4: Via Kane at Citizen Free Press, Live Science reported, "The sea bottom near southern California has been hiding a very dirty secret: decades of discarded chemicals in thousands of barrels. And the toxic debris field is even bigger than anyone expected, containing at least 27,000 drums of DDT and industrial waste, scientists recently discovered.

"High concentrations of DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, an insecticide that was widely used for pest control during the 1940s and 1950s) were previously detected in ocean sediments between the Los Angeles coast and Catalina Island, in 2011 and 2013. At the time, scientists who searched the seafloor in the area identified 60 barrels (possibly containing DDT or other waste) and found DDT contamination in sediments, but the full extent of the area's contamination was unknown.

"Now, a research expedition presents a clearer picture of the deep-sea dump site. Their findings reveal a stretch of ocean bottom studded with at least 27,000 industrial waste barrels — and possibly as many as 100,000, researchers with Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California said in a statement."

That's a lot of DDT.

I say bury it.

Look for a multi-billion-dollar disposal boondoggle instead.

ITEM 5: The Associated Press reported, "A fully vaccinated Arizona state lawmaker has confirmed that she has tested positive for COVID-19.

"Tucson Democratic Rep. Alma Hernandez announced late Wednesday that she has some symptoms and is quarantining for a week at the home she maintains in Phoenix."

Lift the mask mandate anyway. Even if her vaccine did not work, that does not mean they all will not work.

ITEM 6: CBS reported, "The Senate overwhelmingly approved a $35 billion bill to upgrade the nation’s water infrastructure, signaling that it is possible for senators to reach a bipartisan consensus even as they remain divided over President Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure proposal. The legislation, which passed by a vote of 89 to 2, now goes to the House.

"The legislation was spearheaded by Democratic Senator Tom Carper of Delaware and Republican Senator Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, the chair and ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. The bill would improve the nation’s aging water and wastewater infrastructure, support programs to provide safe drinking water and set aside grant funding for poor, rural and tribal communities that have struggled with poor water quality."

The money is a drop in the bucket to meet our nation's water needs, especially out West where people have foolishly moved into the desert. But it is progress and Capito skips the Manchin melodramatics to get something done.

Public works are a constitutional duty of Congress, unlike, say, regulating what color toilet paper may be.

ITEM 7: Time magazine reported, "By the time federal investigators searched the Manhattan home of Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday, they had amassed a trove of evidence from his associates in Ukraine, focusing most intently on Giuliani’s ties to Ukrainian oligarchs, three witnesses in the case told Time.

"The witnesses, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described lengthy interviews with investigators in Europe, Manhattan and Washington, starting in the fall of 2019 and continuing through February. The calls and meetings with investigators grew more frequent and intense after Joe Biden’s victory in last fall’s presidential election, says one of the witnesses. Two of the witnesses say they were working with Giuliani while cooperating with federal investigators."

Nice job, Time.

Now name the cop who shot and killed an unarmed Ashli Babbitt.

ITEM 8: Good news about this old meme.

The Verge reported, "ZoĆ« Roth, best known as “Disaster Girl” for the popular image macro taken by her father in 2005 of her smirking at the camera while a house burns down in the background, has sold the original copy of the meme as an NFT for 180 Ether, worth almost $500,000."

I have no idea what an NFT is, but good for her.

The house fire was a training exercise for the fire department.

ITEM 9: Fox reported, "Sen. Tim Scott’s GOP rebuttal to President Biden’s address to a joint session of Congress is getting a thumbs-up from some influential Republicans in the two states that kick off the presidential nominating calendar.

"The senator from South Carolina used his response speech Wednesday night to criticize the president’s proposals and argued that Biden has failed to deliver on the promises he made during the 2020 White House race. The only black Republican in the Senate charged that 'three months in, the actions of the president and his party are pulling us further and further apart.' "

The color of his skin does not matter. The fire in his heart does.

ITEM 10: The Washington Examiner reported, "Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Coney Barrett, on Thursday, joined the liberal wing of the Supreme Court to rule against the federal government in an immigration case."

Actually, the liberals joined the conservatives because the court upheld a 1996 law that requires the administration to send a notice to nonresidents about deportation hearings.

Unless the law violates the Constitution, justices should uphold it.

ITEM 11: The Associated Press reported, "Plans for 3D-printed, self-assembled 'ghost guns' can be posted online without U.S. State Department approval, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday.

"A divided panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco reinstated a Trump administration order that permitted removal of the guns from the State Department’s Munitions List.

"Listed weapons need State Department approval for export.

"In 2015, federal courts applied the requirement to weapons posted online and intended for production on 3D printers, the San Francisco Chronicle reported."

This is a bizarre case in which the federal bureaucracy convinced itself that 3D printers will lead to massive amounts of guns being placed in the hands of law-abiding citizens. The deep state used an obscure law to ban them.

President Trump vetoed the bureaucratic decision to ban them.

It was nice that 2 of 3 judges in the 9th Circuit agreed that a president can do this.

ITEM 12: Newsweek reported, "The family of Ashli Babbitt—the only person shot during the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol—plans to sue the U.S. Capitol Police department, and the officer who shot her, for at least $10 million, their attorney said.

"The civil suit will follow a decision by federal prosecutors not to seek criminal charges against a plainclothes police lieutenant whose single shot killed Babbitt, who was unarmed.

"Babbitt, a decorated U.S. Air Force Gulf War veteran, was struck in the shoulder while attempting to illegally enter the Speaker's Lobby, an area near to the House floor, through a smashed window beside a barricaded door. It is unclear whether she heard shouted warnings over the crowd around her before she climbed within view of the lieutenant, who drew his gun and fired. Smartphone video shows Babbitt being struck in the shoulder and falling back onto a patterned marble floor, bleeding. Police quickly summoned medical help and evacuated her on a stretcher. She was pronounced dead at Washington Hospital Center, leaving behind a husband, Aaron, and four younger brothers."

I highlighted this story yesterday from another source but I was struck by how even-handedly Newsweek reported it.

Also, it occurs to me that the officer who shot and killed her finally will be named.

Will the media report it?

ITEM 13Al Jazeera reported, "Former President Donald Trump kept up his attack on US Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday, saying Republicans would do well to find a new leader if they hope to take back the Senate in 2022.

"Trump launched the latest salvo on Fox Business Network, when his interviewer asked about the upcoming midterm election battle for control of the Senate and House of Representatives."

President Trump is right. After years of defending McConnell, I gave up when his wife left the Cabinet and he failed to discipline those who voted to convict a Republican president.

If Republicans want my vote, they must prove themselves worthy of it.

ITEM 14: The Daily Beast bragged, "A lawyer for former New York City mayor and Donald Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani said the Justice Department revealed on a Thursday conference call that the feds had penetrated Giuliani’s iCloud long before Wednesday’s search warrants were executed."

Robert Costello said, "I was told about it today in a conference call with the [U.S.] Attorney’s office. They told me they obtained a ‘covert warrant’ for Giuliani’s iCloud account in ‘late 2019.’ They have reviewed this information for a year and a half without telling us or [fellow Trump-aligned attorney] Victoria Toensing."

This is sedition.

The FBI spied on the American government.

Who did these traitors work for?

I want the FBI defunded, disbanded, and constitutionally banned from re-forming.

ITEM 15: Just the News reported, "Florida's legislature on Thursday passed an election reform bill that bans mobile ballot drop boxes and requires voters to request mail-in ballots every election cycle if they want them

"The legislation also mandates that local election supervisors must staff stationary drop boxes and only permit ballots to be deposited during early-voting hours, according to the Washington Post.

"It also stipulates that supervisors who make a drop box accessible anytime other than those periods are subject to a $25,000 civil penalty."

Very good.

Now to make this the law in the other 49 states.

Until then, learn to ballot harvest and all the other dirty tricks Democrats use to steal elections. Win by whatever means they use until we rein in election fraud.

ITEM 16: United Press International reported, "The United States condemns North Korea's 'increasingly draconian measures' to strengthen control over its population during the COVID-19 pandemic and will work to 'promote accountability' for the Kim Jong Un regime, State Department spokesman Ned Price said."

Biden continues to go after anyone who was ever nice to Donald Trump.

Holding Red China accountable for its slavery is off-limits, of course.

ITEM 17: The New York Post reported, "A Minnesota man has been sentenced to four years in prison helping torch a Minneapolis police station in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death, prosecutors said.

"Dylan Shakespeare Robinson, 23, of Brainerd, was also ordered to pay $12 million in restitution for damage to Minneapolis’ third police precinct during rioting on May 28, 2020, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota said Wednesday."

Poetic justice.

The story also said, "Three other co-conspirators in the fire, which forced cops to flee the building, have all pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to commit arson.

"The defendants, Bryce Michael Williams, 27; Davon De-Andre Turner, 25; and Branden Michael Wolfe, 23, are currently awaiting sentencing."

Useful idiots.

FINALLY, when I read the headline in The Hill, "Biden speech interrupted by protesters," I knew they were lefties because otherwise The Hill would have called them Insurrectionists and Rioters.

Sure enough, the story said, "Biden's rally to mark his 100th day in office was interrupted as soon as it began by protesters calling for an end to detention centers and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)."

These are not protests.

These are officially sanctioned street demonstrations designed to make the fascist look moderate.

Had you perhaps noticed a difference between the effort put forth to find and punish participants in the BLM/antifa riots vs the incursion of Jan 6 at the US Capitol building.
That's the same difference in response that would be brought to Republican violation of election law vs Democrat violations.

    3. Ron Robot and zregime, the sentence:

“I'm willing to war to preserve our lost constitutional republic, much less willing to go to prison for election irregularities.”

Makes perfect sense when you realize that while it may not be permitted by the Grammar Nazis, “war” can be used both as a noun AND a verb.

Viewed this way SpectreRider’s sentence above makes absolutely perfect sense if one has the view that in America today, Republicans who attempt to use the same techniques Democrats use to “win” elections will be punished instead of praised like the Democrats.

For example, it’s not unreasonable to think that if Republicans sent poll watchers and media home for the night because, allegedly, vote counting is finished for the night. But then two (or three or four) Republican poll “workers” remain behind to take out and open a huge suitcase which was left under a table, and “count” tens of thousands of additional ballots from that suitcase:

Those Republican poll “workers” would quickly be identified, tried, convicted, and sentenced to spend the rest of their lives in a Federal SuperMAX; while in America 2020 and today the Democrats and Democrat poll “workers” who do the same thing are praised as hard workers committed to free and fair elections.

These Democrats were even defended by a so-called “Republican” Governor and Secretary of State (GA).

I personally have expressed this view on a number of occasions, and on days I feel pessimistic I certainly feel that this is in fact the way the USA is today.

For some reason (I don’t know why) today I want to feel hopeful that Americans will rally behind people like President Trump, Governor DeSantis, and other politicians who are willing to publicly call out and directly oppose the Leftists who are working to destroy the “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit” of whatever you damn well want as long as it is legal, of the American People.

    5. Susie, in the sentence, “I'm willing to war to preserve our lost constitutional republic, much less willing to go to prison for election irregularities.”, for me the first part was clear enough, just as you saw it (war as a verb), but the "much less willing" phrase beginning the second part fogged up the meaning for me. Did he mean the first part to begin, "I'm not willing"? Or did he mean that he wasn't as willing to go to prison as he was to go to war? Do you see the potential for confusion here?

  5. 11 - The AP's report on the Trump/3D-printed guns matter is deliberately misleading and confusing.

Trump wanted the State Dept. to STOP its 3D gun censorship regime. In describing the matter as "a Trump administration order that permitted removal," AP has made it appear to readers that it was Trump who wanted State to engage in censorship.

"Order that permitted removal" is (IMO deliberately) nonsensical language. "Order that required removal" is, based on Don's explanation, far more accurate.

    1. The plan seems to be to flood the world with "stimulus" (sic) money and order the federal reserve to force interest rates to remain at zero to finance it. This won't end well.

Funny thing about the Zimbabwe comparisons - back c. 2009, things had gotten so bad and with Mugabe drifting off into senility (gee, why does THAT sound familiar?), someone(s) sane got enough control to order the abolition of the Zim dollar and to mandate (something already happening on its own) that the US dollar, the British pound, and the South African rand were now the legal tender for the country. It actually worked - the economy stabilized enough for "stuff" to start appearing in shops again.

I was in Zim four years ago for a few days, and the working currency was the US dollar - everything was priced in US dollars, and you paid for everything in US dollars. This is similar to what happened in many Latin American countries back in the 1990s - they either went to a mixed system of both local and US currency (like Peru did), or just abandoned their own currency and dollarized (like Ecuador did).

So among other things, these clowns are throwing away that global anchor (the value of the US dollar). And there's no currency out there that we can just "adopt" to replace the debased dollar... Living the Bronze Age collapse?

  15. #5 Lift the mask mandate anyway. Even if her vaccine did not work, that does not mean they all will not work.

As noted by others, the "vaccines" were never shown to prevent infection, only to have 95% efficacy in preventing symptomatic COVID, and therefore hospitalization and death due to COVID. They now throw in the "long-term" impact of having symptomatic COVID, which is nice, but also a bit of moving the goal posts to keep the narrative going.

Good news, I just saw a study our on the 28th that found 95% efficacy in preventing hospitalization for those over 65 who receive both shots and a 64% efficacy, for just one of the two-shots, i.e., "partial" vaccination. Which is why the CDC tracker shows the deaths per 100,000 for even the oldest, 85+, is down, 0.83, to below what it was for those 55-64 last September before the winter spike. Deaths are way down for all.

You can still get COVID, but if it is just a mild cold symptom, as it has been with most below 55, then other than obsessing over it, is it a problem?

Rachel Carson has the blood of millions of third-world deaths on her hands due to governments’ banning DDT in response to her 1962 book, “Silent Spring.”

DDT is a safe insecticide as long as you don’t spray it on food crops. Spray the outside of peoples’ homes (above children’s head-height), and mosquitoes die as soon as they land on it. It’s amazingly effective at controlling the mosquito population. It’s a once-and-done application, since DDT does not break down in the environment, as all currently approved pesticides do.

I also agree that the federal justice and intelligence agencies have been perverted and are being used to target, persecute, and incarcerate political opponents of the Democrats.

This can’t be allowed to continue.

But I sadly must admit I have no good idea of how to put a stop to it except by like-minded Americans voting into office like-minded elected officials.

And like-minded Americans establishing and supporting in our society alternatives to the corrupt Progressively-dominated and politically-biased institutions — in education, media, sports, corporations, non-profits, etc.

I can’t adequately express how much I appreciate what you do. I would refer to God and wish his blessings on you and your family, but feel that would be terrible presumptuous of me.

    Thank You.

  21. I rarely disagree with you, Don, but respectfully you are dead wrong on #6. Interstate highways, bridges, federal and state roads. etc. are examples of public works the federal gubmint should be financing. Water treatment and supply, and wastewater collection and treatment are locally owned UTILITIES. They are supposed to support themselves, including expansion and replacement, using rate revenue. Democrat politicians politicians in virtually every big city in the country have kept their rates artificially low for many decades, a political ploy to keep their phony baloney jobs. Now their treatment plants and underground piping systems are falling apart, and what do they do? Why, fix them up all shiny new and pretty, using federal tax dollars raised n the backs of us who ran their systems responsibly.
