Democrats near a civil war

The detestable House Democrat Jim Clyburn took on the detestable Senate Democrat Joe Manchin in a HuffPo interview in which Clyburn implied that Manchin is rayyyyyyycist for opposing the repeal of the filibuster.

The 50 Democrats in the Senate lack the 60 votes they would need to pass H.R. 1, which would have the federal government run elections. Heck, they may lack the 50 votes they would need if there were no filibuster. (Kamala would break any 50-50 tie.)

As I understand it, the bill would codify the underhanded tactics Democrats used to steal the last election. They jacked up the black vote through ballot harvesting.

Republicans need to learn to ballot harvest.

For now, Manchin opposes ending the filibuster. Give him time. He will sell out.

Clyburn is black and for decades has used his skin color to gain power within the party and credibility within the media. He has learned that all he has to do is cry Jim Crow to get his way.

But that may backfire if Manchin takes Clyburn's public remarks personally.

Clyburn told HuffPo, "I’m insulted when he tells me that it’s more important to maintain a relationship with the minority in the U.S. Senate than it is for you to maintain a relationship with the minority voters in America. That’s insulting to me."

Well, who the heck should care if Clyburn is or isn't insulted?

And he is wrong. Republicans are not a minority in the Senate. There are as many Republican senators as there are Democrat senators.

Clyburn knows the clock is ticking. The thin majority Democrats hold in the House will likely vanish in next year's midterms. History shows that it is highly likely that Democrats will lose control of both houses of Congress.

Their one hope they believe is to stop Republicans from requiring voter ID and ending politicking outside the polls.

Clyburn is worried that Georgian voters will kick Democrat Raphael Warnock to the curb and out of the Senate.

The House mouse said, "“Since when do their rights take precedence over your fellow Democrat Warnock, who saw his state just pass laws to keep him from getting reelected? And you’re going to say it’s more important for you to protect 50 Republicans in the Senate than for you to protect your fellow Democrat’s seat in Georgia. That’s a bunch of crap."

Clyburn then cried Jim Crow.

He said, "The issue of civil rights and voting rights, these constitutional issues, should never be sacrificed on the altar of the filibuster. I’ve been saying that for a long time."

People say lots of stuff over and over again but that still does not make it true.

HuffPo did not talk to Manchin, but Fox included a statement from Manchin in its re-write of the interview story.

He said, "America's declining trust in the government and each other makes it harder to solve key problems.

"That trust will continue to diminish unless we, as members of Congress, transcend partisanship to strengthen our democracy by protecting voting rights, implementing commonsense election security reforms, and making our campaign finance system more transparent.

"Pushing through legislation of this magnitude on a partisan basis may garner short-term benefits, but will inevitably only exacerbate the distrust that millions of Americans harbor against the U.S. government."

I agree with that last paragraph.

Too bad Manchin doesn't.

Or does he? If Clyburn gets Manchin's dander up, the sellout will not take place. That would be most unfortunate for the Democrat Party, but a great relief to the country.

  1. If Manchin had any balls, he would switch parties and become a Republican.

    2. Talk of Manchin switching parties is laughable. He's a rock ribbed Democrat. He plays a good game but whenever democrats need his vote, they can count on it! If the outcome is obvious to favor Republicans, he may buck his party and vote with them to appease his voters back home. But don't think for a minute he'd ever go against dem wishes

    3. Despite all the "RAYYYYCIST" rhetoric from the likes of Clyburn, come time, old Joe Manchin will be the reliable Democrat vote he's always been. The Filibuster is soon to be history! Count on it!

  2. Why do hard working blue collar coal miners keep voting Democrats to the senate?

    2. It's kinda forgotten that WV used to be a solidly-blue state (UMW and all that).

The real break came in 2000 - due to thermophobic gun-grabber algore.

    3. Well, Big D knows WV politics a helluva lot better than I do, and two years ago he said Manchin was gonna be tough to beat. People seem generally to like him, and his family tree has pretty deep roots in the state. That apparently is much more important here than in, say, New York, where Carpetbagger Clintoine has barely filed a change of address card when she was elected to the Senate.

    5. Why to coal miners keep voting democrat? The same reason they are coal miners. Need I explain?

      Stereotype much?

No, they manufactured votes by the millions. You need to stop kidding yourself. What you say is on the order of learn to code.

    1. Don, I must respectfully agree with the above.

As far as I can tell, "ballot harvesting" was yet another election-stilting "innovation" that the donks introduced; they quietly legalized it in California in time for the 2018 election - and then sprang it as a surprise, stealing several long-red SoCal seats (at least one of them weeks after election day). The GOP in California *did* learn to ballot harvest - and used that in 2020 to take those seats back.

And in 2018, the Republicans tried to ballot harvest in North Carolina - but in that case, it was not legal there, so a Congressional election was tossed out and sent to a do-over.

The problem in 2020 was indeed flat-out massive fraud - which was blatantly obvious and widespread.

    2. Learn to code the Dominion Voting System machines and Ballot Harvest and manufacture votes out of whole clothe for the conservative side of the balloting system... let them scream "No Fair!" at the top of their lungs.
Then ask "What, you got a problem with this?".

    3. Don has made it abundantly clear to his readers he is arrogantly and ignorantly insisting that Republicans need to “Learn to Ballot Harvest.”

It’s true that in California as a whole, and especially in Orange County, CA, Republicans learned to Ballot Harvest in 2020 and won some House seats back.

However, the ballot harvesting the Democrats pulled in 2018 in California is nothing compared to the Democrats well-organized (submitted by millions contributed by Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg) massive voting fraud operated through mail-in ballots in the Presidential campaign in 2020.

Don knows West Virginia and he knows Joe Manchin, that has been demonstrated.

Don’s ability at predicting national elections and understanding national elections, based on the 2020 Presidential election and what has followed, is poor at best.

Perhaps Don may, as noted by another commenter, also adopt the “learn to code” mantra. It makes as much sense.

  5. actually Don, Dimms are in a minority in the Senate...there are only 48 of them compared to the 50 GOP. It is only the 2 idiots who fancy themselves to be "independent" that allow the Dimms to exert some control over the legislative process.

No, my guess is Manchin was holding out for a payoff. He'll do what he's told. The rest of this is for show if his track record is of any predictive value.

    Quite probably his only skill.

  12. Understanding a Democrat Senator hold out is simple. The Democrat's just haven't met Manchin's price yet. Biden put in his bid, by hiring Manchin's wife. Manchin has sold his soul on issues before, and the filibuster will be no different.

I wish I could contrast the comparison between Manchin, just another Democrat waiting to get paid, and his Republican counterparts. Sadly, if the last election has made anything crystal clear, it's that the GOP politicians also have their price. Almost all of them.

There's not ONE GOP Senator or House Republican who doubts that the filibuster is gone, and that it'll be "Democrat Authoritarian Socialists gone wild" in D.C., before the 2022 election cycle. They aren't going to turn over power, anymore than Biden did when he stole the Presidency from the American people (no, not from Trump, but from the citizens who voted likely over 80 Million to Biden's likely < 60 million, the citizens who were disenfranchised by Biden).

The Democrats will turn over power, when they are facing guns, and their certain earthly demise, and not one second before. They stole 20 House and 2 Senate seats in 2018, likely just as many in 2020, plus, oh yeah, that little "Presidency" thingy. No sane person would believe that 2022 will be any different, or that the filibuster will stop the authoritarian socialist Democrats, from exerting their rule over the people "... by any means necessary".

  13. I will not be a voting sucker ever again. I will NOT vote again until I am convinced that there will be no harvesting and no ballot dumps at 3:00 am.

If they elections are not honest, there is zero reason to bother going to the trouble of voting.

    End of story.
