Why are Democrat women such wimps?

The flood gates opened and Democrat women in New York are piling on Cuomo in a media firestorm aimed at running another New York governor out of town. He's walking around the mansion in a daze and a blankie. Democrats are about to dump him. 10 years of loyal corruption will go down the drain.

The women try to top one another with their sob stories. As I read their tales, I am supposed to be outraged at him, but I am left wondering, what in tarnation is wrong with her? 

Jessica Bakeman wrote in New York magazine, "Andrew Cuomo’s hands had been on my body — on my arms, my shoulders, the small of my back, my waist — often enough by late 2014 that I didn’t want to go to the holiday party he was hosting for the Albany press corps at the executive mansion.

"I was 25 years old and working as a statehouse reporter for what is now Politico New York. I had been on the Capitol beat for a couple years by then, but I was still among the youngest reporters in the press corps, and one of the few women in the group whose job it was to report on the governor’s every move. Everyone else was going, and some had been covering state government for decades. I thought if I skipped the event, I might miss out on some intangible opportunity to cement myself as a part of that community. I ignored my instincts and went anyway, walking over from the New York State Capitol Building with several colleagues."

At the party he put his arm around her and after a while it dawned on him that maybe she did not want a suitor who was more than twice her age. He said, "I’m sorry. Am I making you uncomfortable? I thought we were going steady."

Her reaction 6-plus years later was, "I stood there in stunned silence, shocked and humiliated. But, of course, that was the point."

But she did nothing.

A few paragraphs later, she wrote, "It’s not that Cuomo spares men in his orbit from his trademark bullying and demeaning behavior. But the way he bullies and demeans women is different. He uses touching and sexual innuendo to stoke fear in us. That is the textbook definition of sexual harassment."

So why did she put up with it? She could have written something years ago. If he is such a monster (and the odds are he is) she should have warned others.

Instead, Bakeman was a wimp who took abuse for a few years, then limped off to Florida. 

Now that the coast is clear, she emerges from the shadows. 

She reminds me of Silda Spitzer. Remember her?

The Los Angeles Times reported 13 years ago, "It was the way she stood there, enduring.

"Silda Wall Spitzer did not say a word as her husband, Gov. Eliot Spitzer, brusquely apologized to his family and the public after he was caught on a wiretap doing business with a high-priced prostitution ring. Her face was drawn. But she took her husband's hand as they left the room.

"This scandal had many salacious details, but it was the image of Silda Wall Spitzer at her man's side that dominated conversations across the country Tuesday.

"That moment of public humiliation stayed with people -- men and women, Democrats and Republicans. At a beauty salon in Brooklyn Heights, at the Mellow Mushroom pizzeria in Midtown Atlanta, at a Denver office building, at a bar in the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the same questions came up:

"How could she?

"Why did she?

"Haven't we seen this play one too many times?

"Why do we go through this ritual of public shame and repentance, with the political wife standing mutely before the TV cameras as her husband admits his sexual indiscretion?"

Silda became the poster girl for Democrat women. He cheated on her with paid hookers, and yet she stood by him. Eventually he resigned as governor of New York. Only after that did she divorce him.

My Republican mother had enough of my father's cheating and divorced him when I was 2. He divorced his 5 kids too. Mom put Donna, my oldest sister, in charge of the rest of us at age 12 so Mom could work and support the family. My mother proved to be a better father than my father was. 

I am so glad Hillary was not my mother. Hillary is a weakling who stood by Clinton through humiliation after humiliation.

Cuomo's wife divorced him years ago, so not every Democrat woman is a doormat. But she's also a Kennedy, and we know that Kennedy women learn early to look the other way.

The effort to bring Cuomo down is not spontaneous. The governor killed 15,000 people in nursing homes thanks to his failed covid 19 policy. Democrats do not want the public to examine that, and so they unleashed this sex pest (as the British call it) squirrel for the public to chase. When he departs his office, we will all feel good and morally superior -- just as we did when Spitzer departed. Smug is a good feeling.

But the question remains, why are Democrat women such wimps?

Why did these staff members and reporters he pestered not blow the whistle on him?

They might have lost a job over this?

Try raising 5 kids on slightly above minimum wage in the 1950s, before equal pay became the law of the land.
