Media lies are losing power

Ahead of the trial of police officer Derek Chauvin for the death of suspected counterfeiter George Floyd, USA Today commissioned a poll. The results show that after initial yellow journalism reports by USA today and other media outlets, Americans have cooled down.

USA Today reported, "Last June, 60% in a USA TODAY/Ipsos Poll described Floyd's death as murder; that percentage has now dropped by double digits to 36%. Uncertainty has grown about how to characterize the incident, caught on video, when Chauvin held his knee on Floyd's neck and ignored his protests that he couldn't breathe. Last year, 4% said they didn't know how to describe it; that number has climbed to 17%."

Uncertainty is not necessarily a bad thing, especially when it comes to mob justice. Floyd's death launched a summer of riots that did a half-billion-dollars in damage to businesses in Minneapolis, and the multi-million-dollar destruction of a used car lot in Kenova, Wisconsin. The owner later committed suicide.

The press characterized the riots as "mostly peaceful protests," when in fact the daytime demonstrations were a cover for nighttime violence.

The press lost its grip on reality and is now losing grip with its readers and viewers.

USA Today said, "Last June, amid accusations of systemic racism in law enforcement, 60% of Americans expressed trust in the Black Lives Matter movement to promote justice and equal treatment of people, compared with 56% who trusted local police to do that.

"Now, however, attitudes have shifted significantly. Trust in Black Lives Matter has fallen to 50%; trust in local police and law enforcement has risen to 69%."

Why would anyone trust Black Lives Matter? What is BLM? Who runs it? Who funds it?

We know who the local police are. We set its budget. We appoint the police commissioner. If an officer shoots someone, we investigate. This is why Chauvin will stand trial for Floyd's death.

The reason "attitudes have shifted significantly" is that the press story did not hold up.

I suspect polls on what the press calls an Armed Insurrection at the Capitol, too, have shifted significantly.

Glenn Greenwald wrote, "What we know for sure is that no Trump supporter fired any weapon inside the Capitol and that the FBI seized a grand total of zero firearms from those it arrested that day — a rather odd state of affairs for an 'armed insurrection,' to put that mildly. In questioning from Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) on Thursday’s hearing, a senior FBI official, Jill Sanborn, acknowledged this key fact."

In reply to her remarks, he noted, "The 'one lady' who died referred to by this FBI official was Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed Trump supporter who was killed when she was shot point blank in the neck inside the Capitol on January 6 by an armed Capitol Police Officer."

Babbitt was one of four protesters who died in the storming of the Capitol. A Capitol Police officer did die of unknown causes (or rather, an undisclosed cause). The New York Times lied when it said a protester hit him with a fire extinguisher.

The press stopped caring about its credibility at least a decade ago.

The people now have stopped caring about the press.

That is not the outcome I should want, but it is the outcome that makes the most sense. Why believe propaganda?

Socialists must always lie about their real goals - usually by promising fairness and an earthly utopia. What they deliver is horror and hell on earth.

  6. When I saw the first George Floyd video I was mad as hell and wanted the cop arrested for murder like most other people. After watching the cops body cam footage I have completely changed my mind. The cops not only didn't do anything race related, they didn't do anything wrong and I now think they should be acquitted.

    1. You are correct. Floyd said he couldn't breathe when he was upright. After a 3 month delay, the ME report said he died of an over dose and couldn't breathe because of the water in his lungs caused by the drugs. Because the ME report and body cam info was so delayed causes me to believe there was a cover up, people should be arrested for inciting riots and the murder charges dropped against the officer. That will never happen and just goes to show we deplorables how corrupt our nation's justice system has become. Disgusting!

    3. Same here. Especially after reading the autopsy report on Floyd. He would have died all on his own a few hours later due to drug overdose.

  7. We watch a lot of movies from the 30s-50s. Mostly gangster movies and film noir. The press was revered in most of the movies. Part of the solution. In on the action. My have times changed.

The media will mis-report on the Chauvin trial and more rioting will ensue.

    1. If the court acquits Chauvin they will riot; if he's convicted they will still riot because he didn't get the death penalty. If they hang him they'll riot because they didn't burn him at the stake. In other words, they're gonna riot.

  12. The reason the left always rallies behind cases like George Floyd, Michael Brown, and Trayvon Martin, while pretty much ignoring legitimately unjustified police killings, is that they know there will most likely be aquittals at trial. If a cop really does shoot somebody without justification he will most likely get convicted. In the Floyd case, there will not be a conviction, because the cops did not kill the guy. Since the press has done their best to make Floyd's death look like murder, people will be outraged at the aquittal and BLM will be able to agitate for more violence against the fabricated injustice. The organizations and individuals behind this vicious lie should be sued into oblivion.

  13. If an officer shoots someone, we investigate.

Not really. The cops investigate themselves that's the problem. The feds investigate themselves too that's the problem.

There is never any citizen involvement at all. Never.

BLM is a racist and satanic group for sure. But the police have far too much power and their qualified immunity must be removed.

A SWAT team can destroy your home in error. And they do so every year. And they never pay a dime for it.

Even FAR worse is asset forfeiture. They confiscate your property even before charging you. They become judge and jury and prosecutor.

They keep said confiscated property. You never went to trial either. No court, no jury, not even a judge.

So I have no sympathy for the police they brought much of this on themselves. They were an easy mark for the radicals to focus on.

It reminds me of the prophets of the Old Testament. They publicly indicted the people for crimes and left the punishment was usually a foreign invasion by even worse sinners.

Read Habakkak 1. Replace the word "Chaldeans" for "BLM'. That's what I see happening today.

  15. I wish the conservative media would stop reporting "Biden did this..." or "Biden did that..." Let's be honest. Biden isn't doing anything except a little light reading off a teleprompter. The conservative media (what's left of it) should say "Democrats did this" or "Democrats did that..." That would more be a lot more accurate and it would at least pinpoint the real problem.
