Highlights of the News

Covid 19 is not the problem in Miami. Violence is. And the perps don't look like they are on spring break.

But where are the police? None of these people are wearing masks.

ITEM 1: Katie Pavlich reported, "President Joe Biden called a lid at 1:13 pm Eastern on Monday as the crisis at the border reaches catastrophic levels."

We had a president for 4 years who put in 10- and 12-hour days, 6 days a week. He often held rallies at night. The press criticized him for playing golf on his days off.

Chairman Xiden can barely walk up a flight of stairs and puts in half-days before calling in sick.

President Trump was a capitalist who for 50 years put in 60-hour weeks. He is used to the heavy load.

We replaced him with a career government worker.

It shows.

ITEM 2: The Daily Wire reported, "President Donald Trump said if Senate Democrats are successful in their effort to remove the filibuster, it would be catastrophic for the Republican Party.

"The filibuster is a procedural provision that allows the minority party to force an open-ended debate on any issue and requires 60 senators to end debate and move to a vote. Without it, a simple majority vote would be needed to end debate, and the evenly split Senate is now controlled by Democrats, which have 51 votes with Vice President Kamala Harris as the tiebreaker.

"During an interview on the podcast The Truth with Lisa Boothe, Trump said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is barely keeping the provision alive."

Ours is not a democracy. It is a constitutional republic.

Well, it used to be. Then John Roberts became chief justice.

ITEM 3: Outkick the Coverage reported, "There is something odd happening with the Deshaun Watson case. Watson is a 25-year-old star quarterback entering the prime of his career, and he’s now being accused of sexual assault by at least 14 different women.

"This story should be all anyone talks about regarding sports.

"Yes, the NCAA Tournament is in full swing, and that will drown out some of the coverage, but Watson is a superstar in the NFL. Where are all the hot takes from woke sports media personalities who usually love sharing their opinions?"

They do not understand. Me Too only matters if there is an ulterior motive for dumping the guy. Weinstein no longer made movies, which meant he was useless and lost his protection. And Cuomo's killing of 15,000 grannies is a scandal Democrats want to head off because it implicates the whole party. Hence, Me Too is a handy-dandy way of disposing him.

Watson is in the prime of his career. Players rally behind him. Those brave sports commentators who went after Donald Trump are too chicken to take Watson on.

ITEM 4: Kane at Citizen Free Press reported the average weight gain in the lockdown is 29 pounds.

Co-morbidities increase the chances of death from this virus.

Thus, lockdowns will kill people not just because of the increased suicides and drug overdoses, but also because of the weight gain.

Instead of banning vaccine skeptics on Twitter, maybe we should ban snack food ads on TV.

I mean, all our other rights are suspended due to covid 19, why should commercial advertising be exempted?

ITEM 5: CBS reported, "Krispy Kreme will give you a free doughnut every day this year — if you've been vaccinated."

Given that Americans are growing fatter and obese during this interminable lockdown, maybe this isn't a good idea. Besides, I prefer Dunkin' Donuts.

ITEM 6: Jesse Singal whined, "GLAAD Took False, Previously Disproven Internet Scuttlebutt And Used It To Justify Putting Me On A List Of Anti-LGBT Bigots."

He wrote, "I should be able to keep this short because these are not difficult errors to correct. In fact, anyone who has read my work at all wouldn’t have made them. (I’ll explain.) (Update: I was not, in fact, able to keep this short.)"

Of course he was unable to keep it short. He's a liberal.

GLAAD put him on a list!

He continued, "I’m on it. Not sure when I was added but there I am, alongside Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and various other figures that make those two look like ardent social liberals. I guess things were so urgent they didn’t have time to add my first name to the pulldown menu."

On and on he went.

His crime is that he once mentioned the existence of gender dysphoria. I was amused to read a Stalinist being upset by Stalinism.

ITEM 7: The Daily Caller reported, "Heritage Foundation President Kay C. James and Executive Vice President Kim R. Holmes have announced their resignations, the organization confirmed in a Monday press release.

"James will continue to serve as president of the foundation for up to six months until a replacement is found, and Holmes’ resignation is effective April 16. James will become a Heritage distinguished visiting fellow and remain on the organization’s board of trustees, according to the press release."

If there is anything untoward about these resignations, I'm rooting for a sex scandal. She's 71.

ITEM 8: The New York Times reported, "President Biden’s economic advisers are preparing to recommend spending as much as $3 trillion on a sweeping set of efforts aimed at boosting the economy, reducing carbon emissions and narrowing economic inequality, beginning with a giant infrastructure plan that may be financed in part through tax increases on corporations and the rich.

"After months of internal debate, Mr. Biden’s advisers are expected to present a proposal to the president this week that recommends carving his economic agenda into separate legislative pieces, rather than trying to push a mammoth package through Congress, according to people familiar with the plans and documents obtained by The New York Times.

"The total new spending in the plans would likely be $3 trillion, a person familiar with them said. That figure does not include the cost of extending new temporary tax cuts meant to fight poverty, which could reach hundreds of billions of dollars, according to estimates prepared by administration officials. Officials have not yet determined the exact breakdown in cost between the two packages."

Gotta rebuild those cities Democrats burned down last summer to "elect" Biden.

The streets may not be paved with gold, but the pockets of the politically connected will be lined with it.

This is the reason they want to do away with the filibuster.

ITEM 9: D.C.'s covid 19 vaccination rate is lower than every state except Utah.

It is also the jurisdiction with the lowest percentage of Trump voters.

So much for the narrative that Trump supporters are the reason we cannot have nice things.

The Washington Post reported, "National trackers say D.C. is among the worst vaccinators in the U.S. The reality is more complicated."

Sure it is.

My explanation is simple. Washington is the heart of the federal government and we all know how efficient the federal government is.

My wife and I are scheduled for our first vaccinations on Saturday morning.

ITEM 10: Axios reported, "Rep. Filemon Vela, who represents a southern Texas border district and is vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, will not run for re-election to the House next year.

"Why it matters: Vela won his seat with 55% of the vote in 2020 and is the first Texas Democrat to announce he's leaving the House ahead of redistricting next year."

Democrats fear Texas will be as gerrymandered as California is.

The good news in the story was, "States led by Republican governors — and GOP state legislatures, which in many cases redraw congressional maps — should receive more seats than Democratic states.

"Texas, for example, saw its population grow by some 4.2 million since 2010, giving the state potentially three more seats.

"Redistricting is expected to help Republicans close the gap on the number of seats they need to win to recapture the majority."

The bad news is West Virginia will lose a seat.

ITEM 11Reuters reported, "Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump in the U.S. House of Representatives are warning Democrats not to set a dangerous precedent by challenging the certified results of a disputed House election in Iowa."

So what?

Once used, Democrats do not care about their useful idiots.

By voting to impeach The Donald, they impeached themselves.

ITEM 12: The S&P 500 is up 66% in the last 365 days.

Does anyone feel the economy has rebounded 66% in the last year.

ITEM 13: United Press International reported, " U.S. border agents at the Texas epicenter of a migrant surge have been authorized to release some adults and families before they receive a date to appear in immigration court, documents show.

"U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officials instructed agents in the Rio Grande Valley -- where more than 5,000 immigrants are in custody -- to release migrants who had not yet been given court dates if facilities reached 100% capacity, among other criteria, according to an internal document obtained by NBC News."

We have no border.

We have no country.

But we will have a border again, and the fellow we elect to do do that will not be as nice as Donald Trump was.

ITEM 14: Car and Driver reported, "The shift to electric vehicles is underway, but California's two U.S. senators are looking to expedite it: according to a report from the Reuters news service, the two senators are pressing President Biden to set a date by which new gasoline-powered vehicles will no longer be sold in the U.S. Last fall, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order banning the sale of new gas-powered vehicles beginning in 2035.

"Senators Dianne Feinstein and Alex Padilla sent the letter to President Biden today, asking the president to follow California’s lead on the transition to electric vehicles, Reuters reported. Biden hasn't said that he will commit to any timeline for a sales ban of gas-powered vehicles, but his campaign site during the Democratic primary did say he aimed to develop 'rigorous new fuel-economy standards aimed at ensuring 100 percent of new sales for light- and medium-duty vehicles will be electrified.' By lacking a timeline for that goal, Biden was in the minority of those in the Democratic primary."

A ban on gasoline will follow.

No new electric plants are planned.

The price of electricity will soar, as will the time it takes to "refuel."

The goal is to end private car ownership. This will kill places like Poca, West Virginia, where there is no public transportation.

Senators and government workers will be fine. The America these assholes envision for the rest of us is Ukraine, 1933.

ITEM 15: The New York Post reported, "In 2021, this celebrity guest judge on Jeopardy! was called 'a slap in the face to all involved' by a former contestant of the show.

"What is Dr. Mehmet Oz?

"Jeopardy! has enlisted a star-studded cast of substitute hosts including Katie Couric, Mayim Bialik and Aaron Rodgers to play quizmaster following the passing in November of legendary host Alex Trebek, who had helmed the beloved game show since 1984.

"But the recent announcement that celebrity M.D. Dr. Oz would be taking over the fact-based game show this week has got fans questioning whether Jeopardy! producers have lost their way."

Lost their way?

It's a game show, a nightly televised tournament of Trivial Pursuit. Just what way does it have to lose?

Now Wheel of Fortune is an entirely different matter...

By the way, I always referred to Trebek as the new guy. They can never truly replace Art Fleming.

FINALLYFox reported, "MSNBC personalities shared a crowded Miami Beach photo to complain about vacationers flouting coronavirus distancing guidelines, but there was one problem: the photo was from 2019."

I found the niche for Fox: reporting on how fake the news is on CNN and MSNBC.

  1. Got the Pfizer Covid vaccine last week. Hurt for about two days and mild side affects. Nothing beats getting the anthrax shot when I was in the Navy. The needle had to go all the way in to hit the muscle mass. Was sore for two weeks.

    1. I got the Phizer shot never had any effect other than a sore arm.have had worse flu shots.

    2. Got the Moderna. No side effects other than the 999 showing up on my hand.

  2. item 14 the price of gasoline is already going up and so it the price of methane gas why? besides slowing down fracking utilities who have switched to gas and now can't switch back suppliers of gas now see the demand is very strong sooo close your eyes and raise the price of natural gas.

  3. Art Fleming’s choppers gave me nightmares. But yeah, old enough to remember The Switch. It took about two years for me to get comfy with Alex.

    1. My bad - another Biden moment. Gene Rayburn had The Teeth That Ate Chicago...

    2. I always wondered why the long thin microphone that Gene used.

  4. Item 14 - One of the products of cracking petroleum is gasoline. Use it or not, gasoline is going to be with us. Before automobiles, gasoline was burned off. I think that's worse for society as a whole than using it in internal combustion engines.

    1. We can sell that useless gasoline to China, or pay them to take it off our hands.

  5. ITEM 15: I was privileged to have been in the audience during the taping of a Jeopardy episode with Art Fleming in NYC in 1970 or 71. Those were the days when you could win the game with $500. What I best remember is two things: first, they did not make that big a deal of those on program; I remember getting on an elevator to leave and being followed in by the woman who won the game and was being escorted somewhere before the next game was played. Second, and something that will never happen again, was the introduction to the audience of the guy who pulled up the cards to display the "answers" to which the contestants responded. I think he got the biggest round of applause of anyone. I preferred that board to the current electronic monstrosity.

And I too miss Art Fleming.

    1. I remember watching jeopardy and Art Fleming with my grandfather.

  6. 10 - I expect the democrats to Sue over redistricting and John Robert’s to uphold the suit. Maybe the democrats are rigging the census numbers now and that is why they are delayed. It should be simple to add numbers up and get a count. But when the liberals start churning the numbers, it takes time.

15 - record and never miss an episode. I was going to skip Couric but didn’t. She was not good. Bizarre choices for some guest hosts, like couric and Rodgers. At least Oz is a Dr. and Bialik had a PhD in neuroscience. Surprised they didn’t ask Dr Jill to host although she is too busy playing president. Maybe they will have the intellectuals from The View host followed by Don Lemon.

  7. #3. The problem with Deshaun the rapist is that there are not fourteen enraged fathers with sharp knives looking to remove his testicles. Not, apparently, even one.

    1. I really hope all this is fake news. If not, Dabo Swinney is going to be very disappointed.

  8. Miami Beach: This used to be called Freaknik or Black Beach week. The Black Looters and Muggers have brought violence, destruction and mass rape to ever city they "vacationed" in and have been banned.

Atlanta - with a black mayor since the 60's - closed the exits from the interstate into the city to keep them out. They moved to Virginia Beach, Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach which banned them and Panama city where gang rapes with cheering crowds were finally too much.

Media refuses to report on the mayhem, violence and destruction of this group. It's time to ask why this group can't live peacefully in society.

    1. Kinda like Orange Crush at Tybee in Georgia (now moved to Jacksonville, I think)?

  9. #14 The market has been the only game in town with the incredible pump priming going on and inflation low. Hang on when inflation ticks up bonds start to look more attractive.

    1. So Buzz, at what inflation rate will bonds look attractive?

  10. Item 7: Heritage Foundation was instrumental in providing Trump with the list of Supreme Court nominees that produced Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett. It is also where Pence found a home after stabbing Trump in the back.

It will be interesting to see which forces emerge.

    1. IIRC it was The Federalist Society.

    2. From Heritage Website:
Heritage Expert Helps Shape Supreme Court Nominee List
"Trump’s list of 11 potential justices includes five suggestions that had appeared in a commentary from The Heritage Foundation’s John Malcolm..."

  11. Opening clip: What's the story on those girl fights?
    "Inquiring minds want to KNOW."

Item 3: This isn't WHY I don't watch football on TV, or care about it; I lost interest 50 years ago.

Item 5: I'm a Dunkin, but the only donuts available are Krispy Kremes, and they are nowhere NEARRRRRRRR where I live. Yes, I AM in a "doughnut hole". AND, I've been vaccinated! (Poor, poor, pitiful me...)

Item 11: To me, "GOP" stands for the "GO Along To GET Along With The DEMS" Party. Vote for them, I will NOT. (The one I voted for last year is voting with the Dems.

FINALLY: CNN and MSNBC are not trustworthy outlets for "news", but they are for Democrat stories...

  12. This comment has been removed by the author.

  13. Of all the things to chose to comment on. Shipley’s? What a Numb Nut!

    1. Looks to me like E.D. is the instigator. 99% of the time any way.

  14. I received my two vaccination shots from the Veterans Administration. The VA continues to stock vaccines.

  15. cross posted at

  16. Item #14. Read an interesting article about a paper produced by Vaclav Smil (U of Manitoba) in 2019. He wrote about what he called the 4 pillars of civilization: steel, cement, plastics, and ammonia (fertilizer). All four require extensive use of fossil fuels; to coke the steel, heat the limestone, feedstock for plastic and to heat it, and natural gas as feedstock and fuel for ammonia production (90% of which is used for fertilizer). He stated that even if we assiduously recycled all available organic material, we could only create enough nitrogen to feed 4 billion people (about half the current world population).
Banning the use of fossil fuels is not even pie in the sky type thinking, it is more like Easter Bunny, unicorns, and Santa Claus type beliefs. We currently don't even have plans for pilot plant type alternative manufacturing processes.

Banning the use of internal combustion engines is this same type hallucinating. The head of Toyota is the only one I know in the auto industry pointing out that there are not enough raw materials to build anywhere close the batteries an all electric fleet would require. It will result in massive dystopian lifestyles for the majority of the people - with the elites hoping to avoid the resulting turmoil and suffering (also hallucinatory thinking).

  17. Item 2: We haven't been a Constitutional Republic since the 17th Amendment was ratified.

  18. Never knew Art Fleming, but I watch Jeopardy often and revered Alex Trebeck. Saw Mehmet Oz last night, and boy, did he suck!

  19. All these libers calling for the end of fossil fuels had better do some research! I expect them to change their tunes when they discover that the prime ingredient in their ANALUBE is derived from PETROLEUM!!

  20. The brawl at the beginning... I'd pay a ticket to watch live!
