Fox gloats about CNN while losing its audience too

The rule on rocks is pretty simple. If you live in a glass house, don't throw them. Fox News must believe its walls are plexiglass.

The network ran a story, "CNN hemorrhaging viewers since Trump left office, down nearly 50% in key measurables."

Not mentioned in the story was the precipitous departure of conservative viewers from the Fox audience.

Fox won Election Night bigly.

Variety reported, "Looking at the individual network breakdown for the 8-11 p.m. time frame, Fox News drew by far the largest audience with 13.6 million viewers. CNN came second with just over 9 million, followed by MSNBC with 7.3 million. ABC managed to topple NBC in the broadcast race, scoring 6.1 million viewers to the latter’s 5.6 million. CBS ended up with an audience of 4.3 million, while Fox trailed the pack with 3.3 million."

Then Fox News called Arizona prematurely and failed to call Trump's big wins in Ohio and Texas.

Its audience drop the next night was yuge. It went from No. 1 to No. 3 overnight. Since then, the network has struggled to work its way back. Firing Chris Stirewalt and the rest of the election night crew was a start.

The Daily Mail reported, "Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch recently spoke at Morgan Stanley's Technology, Media and Telecom Conference where he addressed reports that Fox News' total-day and prime-time ratings as of January dropped 13% since the election.

"He said Fox News audience was 'disappointed with the election results' but suggested the company is turning around the ratings hit it took after the November election."

The Pentagon's war with Tucker Carlson has helped restore some credibility for him while making over the military to appeal to the woke crowd. Maybe there is a secret deal. More likely the military PR unit is run by chowderheads. Never underestimate the amount of incompetence in government.

And there are morons in the Murdoch Empire as well. Fox running a story about CNN losing viewers without mentioning its own ratings was an invitation for mockery.

Fox reported, "CNN has been hemorrhaging viewers since former President Trump left office, losing roughly half of its audience in key measurables since January following a brief post-Election Day spike.

"CNN averaged 2.5 million primetime viewers from Nov. 4, the day following the presidential election, through Inauguration Day on Jan. 20. But viewers fled the liberal network once President Biden took office, and CNN has averaged only 1.6 million primetime viewers from Jan. 21 through March 15."

The story took a shot at CNN's media critic, noting, "Longtime broadcaster Ted Koppel famously mocked CNN’s Brian Stelter to his face back in 2018, telling the network’s media pundit that 'CNN’s ratings would be in the toilet without Donald Trump.'

"Stelter shook his head in disagreement, but it turns out that Koppel was onto something."

But Fox too is hemorrhaging viewers in the post-Trump era. Fox is just too chicken excrement to mention it. How hard would it be to insert a sentence that says, hey, we lost 13% of our audience, too?

Credibility is all a news organization has. Fox has a long way to go before it runs out of credibility like the New York Times and Washington Post have done. But stories like this one show Fox is hellbent on catching up.
