Oh no! We upset people who call us deplorable

Wednesday's storming of the Capitol was not a riot or an incursion or an insurrection. Nothing was torched. No one was beaten. The only violence came from the police who shot and killed an unarmed woman.

Oh some tables were turned over.

You know who else turned tables over?

This guy.

And for the same reason.

Cheaters.

Next time, bring a whip of cords.

Readers send me stuff all the time and so far, I have kept up. One reader sent me a quote from Mark Steyn from 7 years ago: "The pen is not mightier than the sword if your enemy is confident you will never use anything other than your pen."

Conservatives have always been the guys with the pen, which brings me to John Adams and Ben Franklin. During the American Revolution, we sent them to Paris to beg for aid from the French. Adams was a dutiful lawyer. He wrote letters by day and chilled with his wife at night.

Doctor Franklin was a rock star. He discovered electricity. He wore a beaver hat, something he would never do back home but he wanted to make an impression. Did he ever. He partied all night. Well, 2 AM in Paris is 9 PM in Philadelphia, so technically he was early to bed.

The partying cheesed Adams off, as one could imagine. And Franklin succeeded, which cheesed off Abigail Adams. I am not knocking the Adamses. They were true patriots, if a little stiff. And their son spoke against slavery and won the Amistad case before Lincoln came along. We are talking about the best of the best people when we discuss the Family Adams.

But Franklin, a wordsmith, also knew the shortcomings of words. And so he scanned the scene and saw how best to get to the aid. Adams knocked on the door and got no answer. Franklin went around back and was let in.

Which brings us to Wednesday. President Trump had banged and banged and banged again on the front door. The Supreme Court would not let him in. 

OK, then let us try the back way in.

Why not?

Riots in city after city this summer worked for Black Lives Matter. Why not us?

As the reader said, "I have a very negative reaction to assertions that -- assuming Trump actually did instigate Capitol Hill chaos today (which I didn't watch) -- he is to be condemned.  After the outrageous treatment this human being has had to bear up under for four solid years, I wouldn't blame him if he called and addressed a joint session of Congress and then -- with the door locked from the outside to keep the audience from bolting -- stood in front of them for 45 minutes repeatedly saying nothing more than fuck you."

That would be the most appropriate State of the Union speech in history.

It seems everyone in the world is dumping on President Trump, who is our proxy. The Wall Street Journal wants him to resign because someone tipped over Nancy's table. Shocking.

The reader linked a column by Steven Hayward, "The Tragedy of Donald Trump."

He wrote, "In my casual canvass of social media and other screens, I am struck by how many people who have supported Trump for the last four years have found today’s events over the line."

Perhaps it is battle fatigue. Losing is not a pleasant experience. I will cut them some slack, and also I will cut them loose.

My reader also showed me a lengthy reply to Hayward's piece, which was the best explanation I have read of Trumpism.

The comment said, "Trumpism and everything associated with it has always been an effect, not a cause.

"Today was the result of the riots all summer long. It was the result of the storming of the Senate during the Kavanaugh hearings. It was the result of the utter chaos after Trump's inauguration. Frankly, it goes back farther than that. It was the result of Occupy Wall Street. It was the result of actual peaceful protests by the Tea Party being described as a threat to the very fabric of society.

"It was a result of four years of being told that black is white. Of having the false Russian collusion narrative shoved down our throats for three years. Of a farce of an impeachment that went down to a party line vote even though every single impeachment witness under direct questioning testified that they had no firsthand knowledge of Trump committing any impeachable offenses.

"It was the result of trying to convince us that Trump was involved in a quid pro quo while ignoring the established fact that Biden engaged in one himself. It was the result of ignoring the Hunter Biden laptop. It was the result of having to sit through a corrupt Mueller investigation. It was the result of being told repeatedly that there was no fraud in this election or any indication of it.

"It was the result of Nick Sandmann being destroyed by the media, when he did absolutely nothing wrong. It was the result of people being attacked in restaurants or on the streets merely for wearing a red hat. It was the result of years of fake racist incidents like Jussie Smollett. It was the result of many people being sick and tired of not being able to stand up and speak their mind. It was the result of years of monstrous attacks on free speech by the left.

"Today's not Trump's fault. And if you think it is, then your stupidity is incurable.

"In short, today was long overdue. Yes, it's a shame that it happened, but the shame is what led us here.

"Never Trumpers and other establishment types have been hoping for years that they could just ride this out and that Trumpism would go away. I think that's the real reason you're upset today. You've just realized that Trumpism isn't going away. This isn't a fringe movement that will just die out. It's going to get stronger, not weaker. You can either be a part of it, or get run over by it.

"Today, it seems to me that far too many have chosen to get run over. So be it.

"And yes, I'm mad as Hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. You don't like it? I don't give a f*ck."

Newspaperman Conrad Black cracked his whip of cords on the media.

Lefties get to air their grievances and do so all the time.

When we speak out, the media denounces us as angry, violent, racist, or whatever word salad they are serving that day. Ignore them. Let us go back to doing what we do best, and adapt.

The left won in 2008 thanks in large part to social media. We learned that and elected Donald Trump president. The left thinks they can shut us down by kicking us off social media.

My advice is don't learn to code.

Learn to ballot harvest.

Beat them at their own game.
