Obama shrank Democrat map

4 years ago, the press touted Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin as the Democrat Firewall that would protect Hillary from Donald John Trump. You had to go back to the 1980s to find any of these states going Republican.

Donald Trump played his ram's horn, and the wall came tumbling down.

Those states are now considered battleground states as Democrats sort through the bricks to rebuild their wall.

What a far cry from 2008, when ABC reported, "Eight states that could go either way -- Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada, Missouri, Indiana and North Carolina -- hold 111 of the 270 electoral votes needed for either candidate to win the presidency."

Three of those states no longer are battlegrounds. A burgeoning federal government has turned northern Virginia into liberal land.

Indiana slipped back to its safe Republican ways.

Meanwhile, Missouri is lost to Democrats, joining West Virginia as solidly Republican in presidential politics.

The loss of Missouri is particularly jarring. From 1904 to 2004, it was the nation's bellwether as presidents from the first Roosevelt to the second Bush carried it in 25 of 26 elections. The only time Missouri missed was in 1956.

Two terms of Obama flipped it red.

Now ABC lists Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan and North Carolina as swing states. Other outlets include Wisconsin.

Obama managed to flip the blue Democrat Firewall purple.

His charm cannot overcome his incompetence. His legacy now is as thin as his resume was going into the White House. His foreign policy was a disaster of unnecessary wars -- particularly in Libya -- and appeasement, particularly in Iran.

Trying to take credit for President Trump's economic success backfired like Jack Benny's 1908 Maxwell Roadster.

The only thing Obama has left is Obamacare, which is now just a word not a program. He keeps saying Republicans will take it away. So? What will happen? Will we lose our doctor? Maybe we will find the doctor we had before we had Obamacare.

Millions of Americans loved Obama's style but suffered his substance. He was another disappointment as a president.

And the road to 270 for President Trump is paved by Obama.

In 2016, Donald Trump carried 30 states. Democrats have done nothing to win over Trump supporters, so those 30 states should be safe.

However, Arizona keeps electing RINO senators for a reason. McSally is a poor candidate this year, but maybe President Trump will carry her to victory. Or maybe we will have an Ayotte situation where the Senate candidate did not support the presidential candidate and New Hampshire was lost.

The midterm election was encouraging. A president's party is supposed to lose them, and indeed the House flipped.

But that was largely because so many RINOs like Paul Ryan retired and took their ball home.

President Trump meanwhile defeated 4 incumbent Democrat senators. That's just not done in a midterm. I had to go back 84 years to FDR's first midterm to find a president who did as well.

More encouraging was Ron DeSantis's win in the Florida gubernatorial race. It was by a mere 40,000 votes but he ran as a Trumpkin against a big moneyed candidate whom Obama campaigned for. Hard.

And Democrat Bill Nelson became one of those 4 incumbents that Donald Trump knocked off.

Along with Republicans maintaining control in Ohio, the party acquitted itself well in 2018.

Now the wind is to their backs. Obama flailed as he campaigned Wednesday in Philadelphia. 300 cars showed up for his rally at the South Philly Sports Complex.

Of course, when you cannot advertise a rally in advance for fear of the opposition showing up in greater number that does put a crimp on attendance.

In July, I predicted President Trump will carry 37 states. My reasoning was Democrats failed to win over Trump supporters while he expanded his base among black voters and Hispanics.

That was 30 states.

He barely lost Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, and New Hampshire.

34.

New Mexico's open seat race in the Senate and Hispanic support of ending illegal immigration convinced me he could flip a very Democrat state ala Bush 43 in West Virginia in 2000.

35.

Colorado was due for a change.

36.

And finally, Democrat anti-gun lunacy should flip Virginia red for a while.

37.

We shall see, of course.

The election is a referendum on President Trump but by nominating Biden, Democrats have made the comparison to Obama. That was not a good choice for Obama's party.

    1. How would you rate the Democrat fraud factor in the "battleground" states? If it's 0 - 15%, Trump wins them all. If it's above 30%, Biden wins them all.

    2. Excellent. I'm hoping for 40 states myself

    1. Exactly. It's why I've been saying '72 or '84 this year. Nipsy and Murphy killed Grandma. Inslee and Brown destroyed the genteel Lefty enclaves. Newsom and Pritzker made war on God and their crown cities are hellholes. Even the Kanakas are up in arms over an unnecessary and arbitrary lockdown.

The self Isolated did not have any contact with adults, no new cases. No hospital no deaths. all teens amd college students -where the bulk of the infections come from..
Red Oregon is ready to rock and roll. There is a MAGA candidate for Portlantifa mayor -write in, but the re are now Four lefties running and if he manages 28% of the vote...I say if the Gutless
Oregon Repubs woulld go MAGA they would win.

    3. The main issue for California is regaining the House districts lost to Dems in 2018, plus others. While CA may not go for Trump electorally, Repubs have picked up Hiapanic and black support in House districts. The 25th District special election in May was rated tossup, but the Repub challenger won by about 8. Lockdown protest was part of the vote as well.

  3. I believe President Trump will win the national popular vote and those blue states that signed onto the popular vote compact to protect a future "hillary" will regret their decision.

    1. That compact does not go into effect until states with a total of 270 electoral votes join it, which is not the case yet. It then has to survive legal challenges, which it will not. It is colorful and popular posturing, but that's all it is.

  5. Speaking of Jack Benny, I was listening to The Grapenuts Program Staring Jack Benny (might have been Lucky Strike, not sure). They did the end of the year skit as usual but this time it was shortly after WW2 began. The skit had a stereotypical Japanese voice say "ohh, what hit us?" to which Jack Benny responded loud and thunderously "The Republicans that's who!" He wasn't talking about a political party, but the fact that Americans all live in a Republic therefore should be referred to as republicans. Not sure when "we live in a democracy" came from, but it's been repeated so often people actually believe it.

    1. I would guess that it is the democrat media and politicians that started with "we live in a democracy" because it builds their brand. If they said "we live in a republic" it would build the Republican brand.

    2. My understanding that it was FDR who started talking about "democracy" rather than "the Republic" because he wanted to associate government with his party (rather than the opposition party).

    3. Democracy was not what the Founder's intended, but a Republic. In a democracy, if a majority votes to legalize slavery, it becomes the Law. The republic is constrained by guiding principles (Constitution).

Fortunately for those of us who live in MO, the population isn't concentrated in KC and St Louis...they don't run MO like Chicago/Seattle/Portland/NYC does in IL/WA/OR/NY...MO went for Trump 57%-38% in '16.....the state legislature is dominated by the GOP, not even close....and 8 out of 10 members of MO's congressional delegation to DC are GOPers. Outside of KC and St Louis (and Columbia, where Mizzou is), MO is red, red, red.

Maine is the land of ranked-choice voting, where proggies and RINOs abound. Southern Maine is nothing but a bedroom community for Boston.

  10. Re: NH - No idea what will happen this year, but NH actually had the most-effective election fraud of the year in 2016.

Until it was closed off by the new R governor elected in 2016, NH had a non-standard system - in which anyone could show up at "their" local polling place and say, "Hi! I just moved to NH, but haven't gotten any updated IDs or NH driver's license yet" - and they could vote.

In 2016, more than 6,000 voted that way. The cackling gorgon won NH by about 2,000 votes, and Kelly Ayotte lost her Senate seat by about 1,000 votes.

NH law says that you have to get your new driver's license something like 90 days after moving there. During the period from election day to election-day-plus-90, fewer than 700 people got NH driver's licenses as new residents.

Pretty obvious. Glad DJT didn't need NH, but the fraud cost a Senate seat.

  11. Okay, one more while I enjoy my after-lunch tea!

When obozo came along, he filled the bill for two big fibs that the donks have been telling themselves for decades.

One is the cult of personality surrounding JFK - that's long had a rectis (sp.?) grip on their minds... that a relatively young and charismatic figure was missing and was what they needed to get back into power.

The other is the fib that "No one actually agreed with Ronald Reagan - he just got everyone to go along because of his charisma and communications skills. And if we can just find 'our' version of that, we will take over everything."

It's obvious that obozo was long past his sell-by date by 2016, let alone this year. But the donks are still hung up on those two fibs... and, well, "He who once hits will be forever shooting."
