Highlights of the News

A reader is predicting President Trump will take New York. If he can make it there, he'll make it anywhere. It's up to you, New York, New York.

ITEM 1: The Los Angeles Times (no links to pay sites) reported, "Thousands of American-flag-waving Trump supporters rallied in Newport Beach on Sunday as the president arrived for a fundraiser to bolster his reelection bid on November 3.

"Red MAGA hats were ubiquitous in the crowd, and masks were scant. The sound of country music mingled with shouts of Four more years!

"The rally along Pacific Coast Highway and Newport Boulevard was raucous and confrontational at times."

A good salesman keeps coming back to knock on the door till someone answers. It may take weeks. It may take years. The sale will be made.

ITEM 2: Donald J. Trump tweeted, "GREAT news! New government of Sudan, which is making great progress, agreed to pay $335 MILLION to U.S. terror victims and families. Once deposited, I will lift Sudan from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list. At long last, JUSTICE for the American people and BIG step for Sudan!"

He's campaigning and holding down a full-time job.

Biden is sleeping in until Thursday night's debate.

ITEM 3: Zero Hedge reported, "From the Not, The Onion file (which is becoming far too regular in this farcical new normal), legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin has been suspended by CNN and the New Yorker after he exposed himself during a Zoom call last week between members of the New Yorker and WNYC radio."

They told him to beat it.

Trumpenfreude for one of the biggest haters in the media.

ITEM 4: Politico reported, "Democrats are scrambling to account for the hidden variables that could still sink their nominee — or what you might call the known unknowns.

"Republican registration has ticked up in key states at the same time Democratic field operations were in hibernation. Democratic turnout is surging in the early vote. But it’s unclear whether it will be enough to overcome an expected rush of ballots that Republicans, leerier of mail voting, will cast in person on November 3."

People did not register as Republicans this year to vote for Biden.

ITEM 5: 538 reported, "Trump Is Losing Ground With White Voters But Gaining Among Black And Hispanic Americans."

If President Trump is doing noticeably better among minorities but slipping among white voters the fault lies in the polls, not the voters because he has fulfilled more campaign promises than any president since Reagan.

White people who support the president are not answering the phone when pollsters call. Some call them shy voters. Scott Adams of Dilbert fame calls them sly voters who lie. I believe they don't want to deal with having to explain their vote to anyone.

96% of Republicans are behind him.

That's plenty.

ITEM 6: Breitbart reported, "The co-chair of Joe Biden’s transition team hosted a select group of Chinese business and political elites at the Obama-era White House after prodding from Hunter Biden’s business associates.

"In November 2011, Jeff Zients, then-deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), hosted the Chinese Entrepreneur Club (CEC) for a special meeting at the White House. The CEC, founded in 2006 and often referred to as the “richest club” in the People’s Republic of China, counts among its members some of the richest and most influential personalities in Chinese society.

"At the time, the meeting did not draw much attention. However, emails published this week by Peter Schweizer, a senior contributor at Breitbart News and president of the Government Accountability Institute, indicated just how important of a role Hunter Biden and his business associates, including Devon Archer, played in making the White House visit happen.

"The emails showed that on November 5, 2011, a colleague of Archer’s reached out to suggest there was an opportunity to gain outstanding new clients. According to the email, copies of which were published exclusively by Breitbart News, the colleague told Archer that the CEC had been trying for some time to arrange meetings with high-ranking Obama administration officials when they visited Washington, DC, in mid-November."

I can see the Biden administration now.

Secretary of State Wang Yi.

Treasury Secretary Jack Ma.

Chief of Staff Winnie the Pooh.

ITEM 7: Game 7 reported, "NBA Ratings, Finances In Rough Shape After Bumpy 2020."

The story said, "First and foremost – approximately 40% of the league’s revenue reportedly comes from its gate. Because of covid 19, that money vanished immediately. There were no fans permitted inside the bubble, and there was no way for the NBA to fully recoup its gate income.

"What the league focused on instead was making a dent in the $1.5 billion projected revenue loss that would have occurred had no basketball taken place after its covid 19 suspension of play."

A 37% drop in playoff ratings  – including a 67% drop in the finals  – casts doubt on future TV contracts being as lucrative.

I blame LeBron James.

He is a punk who badmouths America while standing up for Red China. He has to be the most unlikable sports figure in the world.

ITEM 8: Gateway Pundit reported, "Joe Biden and his granddaughter Finnegan got milkshakes at Cookout in Durham, North Carolina on Sunday after Biden’s low energy drive-in rally.

"One reporter asked Biden about the flavor of his milkshake while he was walking out of Cookout in Durham.

"Biden had no problem answering that sycophantic reporter and told him he got 'one vanilla and one chocolate.'

"Another reporter asked Biden about the FBI seizing his son Hunter’s laptop and Biden put up his hand up, walked away and refused to answer her!"

What flavor did you get?

America has the worst press in the world.

ITEM 9: BizPacReview reported, "Despite attempts by David Letterman to get her to bash President Donald Trump, Kim Kardashian reportedly declined to do so and instead expressed gratitude for the administration’s implementation of criminal justice sentencing reform.

"Trump foe Letterman interviewed Kardashian, the spouse of presidential candidate Kanye West, on a wide range of topics in the first episode of his Netflix show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, which drops on October 21. The content of the show generally consists of liberal Letterman pandering to the egos of various celebrities.

"Kardashian famously met with Trump in the White House Oval Office in May 2018 as a proponent for the release of Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for drug trafficking-related offenses, a term of imprisonment that many believed was unjust and disproportionate. Trump subsequently commuted the sentence of Johnson (and later pardoned her), who was one of the featured speakers at the Republican National Convention in August.

"The Trump administration also enacted the First Step Act, which resulted in the release of thousands of convicted felons who met certain criteria to get a second chance of becoming productive citizens. Johnson is now a criminal justice reform advocate."

Letterman must oppose letting black men have a chance of getting out of prison. He must favor Biden's 1994 crime law that lengthened sentences for crack cocaine and the like.

Looks like Santa Claus, acts like Bob Byrd.

He is not alone. She told him, "Trust me, everyone called me and said, ‘Don’t you dare step foot in that White House or your reputation is done.’ And I said, ‘I have to step foot in there or these people’s lives don’t have a chance.'"

Now they do.

ITEM 10: New York Post reported, "Casket outside Brooklyn nursing home filled with 6,500 covers of Cuomo’s book."

The governor sacrificed granny to stop President Trump.

We shall see if New Yorkers support this.

ITEM 11: The Tennessean reported, "Artists gathered to paint a Black Lives Matter mural along Woodland Street in East Nashville on Saturday. Monday morning, at least one set of tire tracks could be seen running the length of the bottom half of the mural. The 200-foot mural sits between Interstate Drive and 1st Ave. on Woodland Street, near Nissan Stadium and the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center."

Murals are on walls.

This was painted in the street.

If they didn't want tire tracks, they should have painted it on a wall.

ITEM 12Jacob Palmieri reported, "The Washington Post ran an OP-ED calling for President Trump to be muted on Twitter."

Also in journalism, Politico reported, "Trump sued again for blocking people on Twitter. The Knight First Amendment Institute filed a new lawsuit against Trump for keeping several Twitter users blocked on his @RealDonaldTrump account."

Which is it? Free speech or not?

Here's a better idea: Shut down Twitter for everyone because Jack Dorsey, CEO, has all the maturity of a toddler. He cannot handle the job.

ITEM 13: Gateway Pundit reported, "For the first time since January 2004 more Americans identify with the Republican Party today over the screwball Democrats.

"Reporter Ryan Girdusky posted this list earlier today from Gallup News.

"Back in January 2004 Republicans held an advantage 33 to 31."

Today it is 28 to 27.

Hey, remember when Donald Trump was going to crash and burn, and Bill Kristol, George Will, and Jonah Goldberg were going to rebuild the Republican Party in their own image?

ITEM 14: Big League Politics reported, "Supporters of President Donald Trump organized a vehicular ‘parade’ in support of the President in the Phoenix, Arizona metro area on Sunday, with some accounts of the event describing it as stretching 30 miles across Phoenix highways and containing 1,500 vehicles."

Not to be outdone, Biden supporters socially distanced 15 cars across 30 miles.

ITEM 15: Glenn Reynolds reported, "SO USA TODAY DIDN’T WANT TO RUN MY HUNTER BIDEN COLUMN THIS WEEK. My regular editor is on vacation, and I guess everyone else was afraid to touch it. So I’m sending them another column next week, and just publishing this one here. Enjoy! This is as filed, with no editing from USAT."

It is a nice column.

The truth frightens journalists in 2020.

ITEM 16: The Daily Wire reported, "Disney has added disclaimers to classic films on its streaming service to warn viewers that some scenes contain 'negative depictions' and 'mistreatment of people or cultures.'

"'These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together,' says the 12-second disclaimer, which cannot be skipped.

"The films include Dumbo from 1941, Peter Pan from 1953, Swiss Family Robinson from 1960, and The Aristocats from 1970. The disclaimer also directs viewers to a website titled Stories Matter, which  says, 'Because happily ever after doesn’t just happen.'"

I used to think there was some point to all this, some goal, some lame strategy.

Nope.

They are just nuts and scared to death of being on the Wrong Side of History because heaven forbid that after you die someone may think ill of you.

ITEM 17: Law and Crime reported, "Chief Justice John McCain Roberts joined the liberal wing of the Supreme Court in rejecting an application for a stay that was requested by Republican lawmakers in Pennsylvania. The GOP asked the Supreme Court to put a stop to a state Supreme Court ruling that extended the deadline — by three days — for receiving and counting mail-in ballots for November’s presidential election."

I used to think Obama had some dirt on John McCain Roberts, but now I realize the chief justice is just a jerk.

Elections have consequences, and John McCain Roberts wants to fix this one.

ITEM 18: Fox reported, "Cancer-stricken Rush Limbaugh says he can no longer deny he's 'under a death sentence.'"

The talent on loan from God is about to return.

I cannot think of one broadcaster in my lifetime who had a greater impact on the nation he loved so.

Loves so.

FINALLY, in Highlights of the News on Monday, I told readers to vote and pray. A reader wrote and sent prayers that would fit this election. for the election, which I share:

Father we pray whoever is elected will arise to their finest hour, knowing You are the source of their success.

Good government, Father, is your will; we pray that you will expose all those who oppose Your will. We pray You expunge all those who are self-seeking, proud, and evil in Your sight.

Father, we pray against the breakdown of laws that are set in place with our Constitution. We pray against anarchy by those opposing our candidate or the results of the election, and remember that our republic is based on the concept of the greater good for all.  We recall that rule of law is founded on your law and regulations You gave to us, and which are designed to promote our physical, moral, and spiritual welfare.

We pray for truth and honor to be established. We pray against poor communications, or anything that would hinder righteousness and justice in our government. We pray for equality and freedom to be established for all, removing prejudice and favoritism

For Christians there is one response that we must not take if our candidate won; we cannot gloat! And if our candidate lost, we must guard against despair. There are many after elections who are in shock, hurting, and even angry. It is up to the Church to lead the way to bring healing and reconciliation, but first we the church must lay aside all ungodly and unrighteous attitudes. We must continue to humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face and turn from wickedness, so that God will hear, forgive and heal our land.

Amen.

***

Lord God Almighty, you have made all the peoples of the earth for your glory, to serve you in freedom and in peace: Give to the people of our country a zeal for justice and the strength of forbearance, that we may use our liberty in accordance with your gracious will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

***

Almighty God, who has given us this good land for our inheritance: We humbly ask You that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do Your will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and good manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many peoples and languages. Give the spirit of wisdom those to whom in Your Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to Your law, we may cause Your praise to be seen among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, let not our trust in You fail; all of this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

  1. What are the odds that China told Nancy not to agree to a stimulus in order to try and reduce the president's chances of reelection? I think it is quite high.

    He's going to win anyway.

    2. Nope...the John McCain Roberts ruling just put PA in the blue column. Those Philadelphia precincts will know how many votes are needed and will have 3 days to find them. And they will.
If Trump and Senate wins, they should try to impeach the SOB! If there's dirt on Roberts, perhaps Trump should use that dirt to have him 'retire'

    3. Nope. PDJT takes PA with ease. And I don't believe anyone has 'dirt' on Roberts. He could just resign. He is just a liberal. Time to face it and thank Bush2

    4. The Constitution says that the date of the federal elections shall be set by Congress and shall be the same for all of the states; the times, locations, and other details shall be set by the state legislature.
      1. So how is giving Pennsylvania an additional 3 days that other states don't have in accordance with the Constitution, Justice Roberts??
      2. The Constitution says the election times and details will be established by the state legislatures. But the additional 3 days for mail-in ballots DID NOT GET PASSED by the legislature. It came about by judicial decree via a lawsuit. It was rejected but then overturned by the corrupt and highly Democrat-partisan State Supreme Court.

So, even though the added 3 days violates the clear language go the Constitution and was passed by a highly partisan State Supreme Court, Justice Roberts sided with the Democrats.
There can be no excuse for Roberts.

    5. I've been wondering, after doing a lot of research in the past 8 months, why so many people have so many significant things going on between November 4-6th, 2020. And now, thanks to Snake-In-The-Grass Roberts, I suspect that I now know why.

Let's hope that the PA results (I assume that this three-day extension only pertains to PA) are moot because the issue is settled once and for all by 2 am on November 4, 2020.

The NBA made $8.76 billion last year.

For a measly just under 0.06% of all revenue, the NBA defends it’s ties to China to the point of ignoring it’s gulags and concentration camps.

At the same time, the NBA is more than willing to jeopardize the rest, 94%, of its revenue for social justice in the US.
