Highlights of the News

Donald John Trump is still our president.

The American flag is now our pro-Trump yard sign. I call it dog-whistle patriotism.

ITEM 1: Expect nothing and you are never disappointed. But giving up is the greatest disappointment.

Barr is a good guy. Durham. Sigh. We shall see.

ITEM 2: The Washington Post (no links for pay sites) reported, "A private security company is recruiting a large contingent of former U.S. military Special Operations personnel to guard polling sites in Minnesota on Election Day as part of an effort to make sure that the Antifas don’t try to destroy the election sites, according to the chairman of the company.

"The recruiting effort is being done by Atlas Aegis, a private security company based in Tennessee that was formed last year and is run by U.S. military veterans, including people with Special Operations experience, according to its website.

"The company posted a message through a defense industry jobs site this week calling for former Special Operations forces to staff “security positions in Minnesota during the November Election and beyond to protect election polls, local businesses and residences from looting and destruction.”…

"The prospect of armed guards outside election sites alarmed election officials in the state. It is illegal in Minnesota for people other than voters and elections staff — or those people meeting the requirements to be a registered election “challenger”— to be within 100 feet of polling sites.

"There are also laws against voter intimidation that could prevent armed civilians from being in the area even if outside the buffer, according to election officials in Minnesota."

Democrats are afraid that ballots will be protected from tampering.

This may become the weirdest election ever.

ITEM 3: The New York Times (no links to pay sites) reported, "Talk Radio Is Turning Millions of Americans Into Conservatives."

Breaking news from 30 years ago.

The real development is cable news turning millions into communist zombies.

ITEM 4: David Sound wrote, "I Didn’t Vote For Trump In 2016, But I’d Crawl Over Broken Glass To Vote For Him Now. I don't care about the tone of his tweets nor if his opponents think he's rude. I've seen that he is a patriot who genuinely loves the United States of America and its people."

It takes a big man to admit he was wrong, which is why so few of us do.

ITEM 5: Sean Trende wrote, "As Goes Washington, So Goes the Nation? As early as 2010, I’d noticed that Washington state’s primary predicts November national outcomes fairly well. The idea is this: Washington has a primary where all the candidates run on a single ballot, with the top two advancing to the general election. The specifics have changed over time – in particular, the primary is held in August now rather than in September – but regardless, that unique format gives us a bit of a dry run as to how voting will go in the fall (California has a similar system, but its primary is held much earlier)."

This is the jungle primary that Democrats in the Confederate states created to disenfranchise Republicans and black people. Liberals have adopted it in recent decades.

He wrote, "The data for 2020 was genuinely surprising. I had expected that it would look like 2018, when Democrats won about 62% of the vote overall in the September primary. Instead, the Democrats’ performance this year was slightly worse than it was in 2016: They won about 55.2% of the vote in 2020 versus 56% in 2016."

Trende saw the 2010 Republican tsunami 6 months before it happened.

ITEM 6: A reader wrote, "Do you think it is just a coincidence that the number of people who believe that they are better off now than they were 4 years ago is the same percentage that think Trump will win? Hmmm."

That would be 56%. Double that Hmmm.

ITEM 7: Fox reported, "The White House pounced on Speaker Nancy Pelosi's 25th Amendment talk Friday, hitting her for her own mental fitness for office and also suggesting she was trying to target Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

"Trump, who is recovering from coronavirus, took to Twitter immediately after Pelosi's announcement that Congress is considering legislation on how to remove a president from office and accused her of actually targeting Biden should he win in November.

"'Crazy Nancy Pelosi is looking at the 25th Amendment in order to replace Joe Biden with Kamala Harris,' Trump tweeted. 'The Dems want that to happen fast because Sleepy Joe is out of it!!!'

"White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who is also infected, said it's really Pelosi who is unfit for office."

Fact check: TRUE. Her inability to control her impulses in public shows she is unfit to be second in line for the presidency. Her ripping up the State of the Union speech was simultaneously juvenile and senile.

ITEM 8: The highlight of the president's 3-hour appearance on Limbaugh's show on Friday was a message to Iran. John Kerry hardest hit.

ITEM 9: Envy Florida, Americans. The campaign is back on.

ITEM 10: Steve Scully, the former Biden intern slated to moderate the next debate sent a DM to Anthony Scaramucci seeking help in getting The Donald. Instead of a DM, it became a tweet. Methinks Scully is on the way out. The whole commission can follow him out the door.

ITEM 11: New York City is turning into Germany circa 1935. Awful. Just plain awful.

They would never do this to Muslims -- or BLM.

ITEM 12: No fans. No social distancing.

ITEM 13: Just the News reported, "Chris Wallace, the Fox News personality who was roundly ripped for his performance as moderator in the first presidential debate, said Friday that President Trump is making a mistake by dropping out of the second faceoff.

"On Thursday, the Commission on Presidential Debates announced that the second debate, planned for Oct. 15, would be virtual" with the two candidates in different studios and not on site.

"Trump quickly said he'd skip that format. Both sides spent the day sniping, but the CPD didn't budge, even as the whole debacle became nearly unfathomable, with Team Trump and the Biden campaign offering different options."

Donald Trump should totally trust this advice because Chris Wallace is such a supporter of our president.

ITEM 14: The Miami Herald reported, "A federal judge sentenced a former commander of the Navy base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, on Thursday to two years in prison for trying to cover up a drunken fight with a commissary worker who was later found dead in the bay.

"Testimony at the trial showed that the fight inside the official residence of the now-retired Navy captain, John R. Nettleton, 54, followed a night of drinking during a celebration at the base’s private officers’ club. At the party, the man who died, Christopher Tur, 42, loudly accused Nettleton of having an affair with his wife.

"U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan announced the sentence, on six criminal counts including obstruction of justice, after a nearly daylong hearing in Jacksonville. During the hearing, Tur’s mother and siblings emotionally urged a severe sentence while three former military officers described Nettleton as a veteran combat helicopter pilot who had led a life of integrity."

If only his dad were vice president at the time, he would be a free man.

ITEM 15: United Press International reported, "Ruby Tuesday files for bankruptcy, will close 185 restaurants for good."

(sings) Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday.

Another victim of the pandemic panic.

ITEM 16: Life Site News reported, "Pope Francis prays that women be handed more leadership roles in the Church."

Gee, if there were only something he could do about it.

ITEM 17: Mexico News Daily reported, "‘Look after my grandson:’ newborn found in pizza box. The 7-day-old child was found on a sidewalk in Tlaltenango, Zacatecas."

The mother died in childbirth.

The story said, "Tlaltenango Mayor Miguel Ángel Varela Pinedo said he would be responsible for the baby’s expenses, and expressed regret that the child was abandoned for financial reasons."

And the story said, "On Friday morning he announced that the infant has been christened Ángel Gabriel and was baptized last night in the name of the people of Tlaltenango. Varela asked the state governor to ensure that baby Ángel is adopted out to people from his region of the state."

Such a bright future for the boy. What a heartbreak for the grandparent to lose a daughter and a grandson like that. May God watch over the grandparent.

ITEM 18WPTV reported, "Florida woman accused of killing roommate in street, running off with cat."

Police charged Samantha Fox, 32, with murdering Julie Morgan..

The story said, "According to the affidavit, Fox spoke to Morgan's sister-in-law via text message, denying any involvement in the death and claiming that Morgan had been run over."

The story also said, "According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office probable cause affidavit, Morgan, 36, was found lying in the middle of Mobilaire Drive with stab wounds to her back, arm, head, chest and hands just after 10 p.m. Saturday. She was pronounced dead at the scene."

Stab wounds?

Maybe the vehicle has studded snow tires on it.

ITEM 19: Kane at Citizen Free Press reported, "Kristen Welker mysteriously deletes her entire twitter account."

She is to anchor the third presidential debate.

All reporters should delete their Twitter accounts because they show and promote bias. Tweets lead to groupthink and pack journalism. Reporters by and large are conformists who seek the approval of their peers. This distorts their reporting.

ITEM 20: Bloomberg reported, "Basketball is coming back to Chinese TV.

"China Central Television will revive its coverage of the National Basketball Association on Saturday, just in time for Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat, the network said in a late-night sports news program on Friday.

"The network, which holds exclusive rights for the NBA in China, stopped showing the league’s games after Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey tweeted support for protesters in Hong Kong in October 2019.

"Resuming the broadcast is 'a normal arrangement' as basketball is a popular sport in China and there’s a demand from fans to watch the games, an unidentified spokesperson for the network said in a separate statement on Friday night."

Red China can have them then.

And their overpriced shoes made by slaves.

  1. #18 Her death was actually listed as Covid-19.

  2. Studded tires only cause ruts!

  3. The youtube channel "people's pundit daily" does a podcast called "Inside the numbers," where an independent polling company's owner conducts crowd sourced polls and shares data from commissioned polling. He does honest polling, and he will tell you why the left's polls are so slanted and show you REAL polling. FL is so Trump, Biden might as well sell it back to Spain.

  4. Back before China owned most of the U.S. sports world, SI ran an amusing article about 25 Reasons College Basketball Is Better Than The NBA. The most memorable was:

College: Dean Smith calls for a pick and roll from his point guard.

Pros: Dyan Cannon calls for a California Roll from her courtside waitress.

Eff the NBA. Eff it in the a.

  5. 8: contrast this with Dem Swawell's threat it will be a short war against actual Americans.

11: this guy bent his knee to the altar of the state.

  6. 10 - the debates have never been this biased, and that is saying a lot. That said, I sure hope they hold them.

  7. I wonder if the Flag thing is a meme-suddenly there flags everywhere in my town. Not just the usual patriots, either. I can see this I'm going to get mine out when it stops raining-yest the fat lady is got her spear polished and her considerabel breast plate shined. -fire season is OVER!

  8. 2: M/Sgt BA Baracus in charge of enforcement.

  9. I agree that newsies should delete all their social media accounts, but their egos won't let them.

  10. #15 I ate at a Ruby Tuesday on a Saturday in Manchester NH. The experience was underwhelming.

  11. Don't blame Covid for Ruby Tuesdays downfall, it was just the last nail. Their prices have gone up, the quality down. I stopped caring about that place years ago, and apparently so did a lot of other people.
