Murkowski joins Democrats on Ginsburg's replacement

Ruth Bader Ginsburg died today of cancer at 87. Kane at Citizen Free Press reported RINO Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska will join Democrats in blocking President Donald John Trump from replacing her.

Murkowski said today before the death, "I would not vote to confirm a Supreme Court nominee. We are 50 some days away from an election."

In other words, Murkowski will do to Donald Trump what Republicans did to Obama. The difference is, Democrats did not help Mitch McConnell place a moratorium on judicial confirmations. That's hardball, but constitutional.

I fully expect RINO Mitt Romney -- the winner of National Review's John McCain Award -- to join her. OK, I made up that award.

Republicans need to purge their party of these enemies from within, and in his second term, President Trump must make this a top priority.

I have no favorite for the replacement of Ginsburg, preferring to leave that to the president who delegated that to the Heritage Foundation, which has the time, energy, and motivation to screen lawyers to be judges and judges to be justices.

Sure, Ted Cruz would be a nice replacement but I believe there may be someone better whom I have never heard of.

Murkowski is punishing her party for nominating President Trump -- and she hates that her daddy was dethroned by the likes of Sarah Palin.

For decades, Republican presidents were stuck with appointing moderate judges and justices because Democrat Senates played hardball.

Now the Republican team controls the Senate, and Murkowski has flipped sides. Hers is a cynical position aimed at being in the good graces of a future Democrat Senate and White House. She has no principles. Her dad was a crook and she is a schnook.

How can you be a conservative and allow Democrats to get this appointment?

As for Justice Ginsburg, I refuse to speak ill of the dead. They are dead and unable to defend themselves.

Chief Justice John Roberts said, "Our Nation has lost a jurist of historic stature. We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn, but with confidence that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her — a tireless and resolute champion of justice."

Fine.

The problem with the court is twofold: 1. these are lifetime appointments, and 2. the court is too powerful. All of the federal government is too powerful and two branches -- Congress and the courts -- have devolved into lifetime appointments. McConnell is seeking his seventh term.

I trust President Trump will nominate a replacement and the Senate will confirm 50-50 with Vice President Mike Pence casting the tie-breaking vote. That is what how our Constitution works.

My belief is this will rally voters behind him by being another Alpha Move. Biden is beta. Donald Trump should exploit that weakness.

    It may well motivate conservatives to keep the Senate Republican too.
    I agree that no Constitutional law classes will ever be quoting Ginsburg decisions in the coming years.

      I took that part out because it is too early, but yes, you are right. She was not as a justice on the level of John Marshall Harlan.

    I hate that she passed away in harness, this close to the century's defining election. She should have retired last year when she announced that the cancer had returned.
    Like our host, I cannot celebrate her death. Any death is tragic, and the timing of this one raises even more peril for the Republic. This will galvanize the enemy to even greater agitation.

    Rains coming. Finally. I remember at the inauguration when it was raining Franklin Graham said it was a sign of Biblical blessings.I believe that.
    Hang in there. Ruth Ginsburg has to stand before throne. and account. I mourn for all the possibilities that were lost because of Roe V. Wade.

    Editorial writer John Fund is calling for the Senate to confirm a Justice.

    Because if the upcoming election leads to a massive "Bush v Gore" style lawsuit, we need to have an odd number of judges.

      That is correct. Where it would really cause problems would be a scenario where multiple districts come to opposing rulings on similar cases regarding the election and the SCOTUS dreadlocks.

    I would rather see an all out brawl to fill her seat before the election then trust that we can get a conservative in after the election (no matter how optimistic I am).

    Murkowski and Romney will be speed bumps along the way, but they will not prevail.

    IMHO ......The Turtle should declare the Senate out of session on Nov 3 and Trump should make a Recess Appointment on Nov 4 to make sure the Court can make a well thought out decision if the election is riggged because of Mail in Voting.

    I blame Marburg vs Madison. This decision took justices and made them oracles. The executive needs to put the justices back to their rightful constitutional place. This country is ready to go to war with itself over an appointment of a single person. It’s not worth it.
