President Donald John Trump isn't the only Road Runner giving the Wile E. Coyote left the fits. Liberals launched an advertising boycott of Tucker Carlson's show this summer. The results came in on Tuesday. He is now No. 1 in cable news advertising.
Media Post reported, "Cable TV News Networks Grow 31% In Prime-Time Ad Revenue May-July, Fox News Tops."
The story said, "SMI says Tucker Carlson Tonight pulled in $37.2 million as the best Fox News prime-time performer. Right behind was The Ingraham Angle ($36.6 million) and Hannity ($36.2 million)
"MSNBC's top show was The Rachel Maddow Show -- $20.8 million, while CNN's “Cuomo Prime Time and Anderson Cooper 360 tied with $19.1 million."
Contrast this reality with the New York Times story of June 18, "Advertisers Are Fleeing Tucker Carlson. Fox News Viewers Have Stayed."
Oh?
The story (I don't link pay sites) said, "His remarks have not sat easily with Mr. Carlson’s advertisers, including companies like Papa John’s, Poshmark, Angie’s List and the office furniture brand Vari, all of which have distanced themselves from Tucker Carlson Tonight. T-Mobile announced its defection in a memorable Twitter post from Mike Sievert, the company’s chief executive, who wrote: 'Bye-bye, Tucker Carlson!'"
Carlson spoke truth to power and called Antifa/BLM thugs.
Kara Alaimo, an adjunct at Hofstra, told the Times, "The show has almost no big-name advertisers left right now. This is just not an issue you want to be on the wrong side of, if you’re a mainstream brand."
Carlson routinely wins his time slot against broadcast network shows. Hannity as well. Advertisers like winners. We all do.
CNN said on June 12, "Tucker Carlson ad boycott causes headaches for Fox News."
The headache apparently was how to spend that double-CNN-ad-revenues that Carlson attracted.
I don't watch Carlson often because television is a time-consuming way to get national news. I do read Fox (and CNN) online.
But I do like watching liberals step on the rake as they did with this boycott.
Like my old Air Force friend Hector used to say, “Money talks, and bullshite walks.”
ReplyDeleteDon, Tucker's first segment with his opening statement is well worth the 15 or so minutes.

ReplyDeleteThat the borderline insane Maddow is raking in that much money is insane. Same with Fredo.
Two nights ago, Tucker had the story about Fredo's leaked recording with buddy Michael Cohen where he went on about accusations of sexual misconduct at ABC. During Carlson's commentary, they showed tapes of Fredo's weightlifting. Tucker was trying really hard not to laugh.

How much better informed I am since forswearing the Times completely. I wouldn't believe a baseball box score if I read it in the Times. When they don't outright lie, they're just plain wrong. Its only value is in the Left's faith in it. Their ignorance is our bliss.
