Highlights of the News

Good morning. Our president is still Donald John Trump.

ITEM 1: Did the media, bureaucracy and the Democrats kill 100,000 people by maligning and even banning the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat covid 19?

HCQ Trial reported, "Many countries either adopted or declined early treatment with HCQ, effectively forming a large trial with 1.8 billion people in the treatment group and 663 million in the control group. As of September 1, 2020, an average of 53.7 per million in the treatment group have died, and 459.3 per million in the control group, relative risk 0.117.

"After adjustments, treatment and control deaths become 111.8 per million and 678.7 per million, relative risk 0.16. The probability of an equal or lower relative risk occurring from random group assignments is 0.007. Accounting for predicted changes in spread, we estimate a relative risk of 0.23.

"The treatment group has a 77.1% lower death rate. Confounding factors affect this estimate. We examined diabetes, obesity, hypertension, life expectancy, population density, urbanization, testing level, and intervention level, which do not account for the effect observed."

Early use of HCQ saves lives.

HCQ is a cheap available drug that has been around for 75-plus years. We know its side effects. We know the safe dosage. President Trump was correct in calling it a game-changer. Using it in March would have reduced the covid 19 death toll by 100,000 people easily.

Instead, they died of the TDS of the media, the government, and the Democrat Party.

ITEM 2: A Kennedy finally lost in Massachusetts in a Democrat primary, no less.

Howie Carr reported, "Camelot finally went out of business, much like the end of T.S. Eliot’s poem, The Hollow Men: 'This is how the world ends/ Not with a bang, but a whimper.'

"The last of the Kennedys, carrying the name of the patriarch of the clan, Joseph P. Kennedy, went down hard to, of all people, Sen. Ed Markey, who spent his entire lackluster career aping the Kennedys, but now ends their 75-year reign over Massachusetts politics."

Carr gloated for a bit, then nailed what happened to Democrats.

He wrote, "Markey spent the campaign reprising the role of Fred Astaire, to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ Ginger Rogers, and that’s a clue for the future of the Democrat party, not only in Massachusetts, but in New York. (Are you paying attention, Chuck Schumer?)

"JoJoJo Kennedy had the endorsement of the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, who once had a picture of herself taken in high school with his great-uncle, JFK. That’s how old she is – 80 — and Tuesday night showed how much her endorsement meant, compared to AOC’s."

I have said since she took office that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the soul of the Democrat Party.

America's best political observer agrees.
A party gone mad.

ITEM 3The Washington Examiner reported, "Hunter Biden holds a stake in a Chinese surveillance company that is under U.S. sanctions for human-rights violations, complicating his father Joe Biden’s campaign promise to crack down on American businesses with financial ties to China’s humanitarian abuses.

"Bohai Harvest RST Shanghai Equity, an investment firm that Hunter Biden owns a stake in, initially invested in Megvii, a sanctioned Chinese tech company that specializes in facial recognition software, in 2017, according to the company’s website. The firm holds a nearly 2 percent stake in Megvii through two holding companies, according to a prospectus filed by Megvii as part of its application for a listing on the Hong Kong stock exchange last year.

"Last year, the U.S. Department of Commerce added Megvii to its list of sanctioned entities that were 'implicated in human-rights violations and abuses in the implementation of China's campaign of repression, mass arbitrary detention, and high-technology surveillance against Uighurs, Kazakhs, and other members of Muslim minority groups.'"

Of course, Democrats embrace the forced-labor camps of Red China. The Democrat Party has always supported slavery. Always.

But shouldn't Ilhan Omar show even a passing interest in the welfare of the Muslim minority in Red China?

ITEM 4: The best part of waking up is Trumpenfreude in your cup.
Dana White, founder of the UFC, is a huge supporter of President Trump. LeBron James called the president a bum.

ITEM 5: The Washington Examiner reported, "Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler announced that he will be abandoning his condo in favor of a new home following protests outside his Oregon residence.

"Wheeler, a Democrat, emailed his neighbors on Tuesday and notified them that he would be moving out of the 16-floor apartment building after months of demonstrations outside the property. He said it would be 'best for me and for everyone else’s safety and peace' for him to seek a new home.

"'I want to express my sincere apologies for the damage to our home and the fear that you are experiencing due to my position,' Wheeler wrote in the email that was obtained by the Oregonian. 'It’s unfair to all of you who have no role in politics or in my administration.'"

He apologized for being the target of violence by the Antifa/BLM wing of his Democrat Party. Oddly that makes sense as he has tolerated and even encouraged 3 months of rioting and looting.

ITEM 6: 1010 WINS Radio reported, "A bar on Long Island is in hot water after it reportedly took bets on shooting deaths in New York City and Chicago.

"The Cliffton on East Main Street in Patchogue created a gambling pool on which city would see the most shooting deaths over the Labor Day holiday weekend, with the winner offered a cash prize, according to Newsday.

"'Let the shooting sprees begin!' the bar reportedly posted to Instagram last week along with a photo of a Super Bowl-style betting box.

"Officials have since expressed outrage over the gambling pool."

If only the Democrat mayors of these cities were as outraged about the slaughter in their streets as they are about people mocking their cities.

ITEM 7: The Daily Mail reported, "Jerry Seinfeld was spotted in the Hamptons on Monday arriving at his $32 million house in a vintage Porsche, a week after labeling a comedian who fled New York City for Florida a 'putz' and vowing never to abandon the Big Apple. The comedian became the toast of the town after writing an opinion piece in The New York Times which defended the city and rebuffed what comedy club owner James Altrucher had previously claimed -- that it was done for good.

"Seinfeld wrote in the piece: 'He says Everyone’s gone for good. How the hell do you know that? You moved to Miami. Yes, I also have a place out on Long Island. But I will never abandon New York City. Ever.'"

This reminds me of Joe Tex's song, Skinny Legs and All.

BOBBY: Hey, Joe.
JOE: Yeah Bobby?
BOBBY: Why don't you take her?
JOE: You a fool? I don't want no woman with no skinny legs.

ITEM 8: Fox reported, "President Trump on Wednesday morning called on CNN to fire its most popular host, Chris Cuomo, after the anchor was heard denying apparent sexual-misconduct allegations on a secretly recorded audiotape amid a conversation with former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen."

More of the intramural games between the networks.

What was interesting was Fredo's take on the media.

In the tape from 2019, he said, "You know, I'm always careful when I talk to media, you know? Do you know how many f----- phone calls I've gotten from people at ABC who say that reporters are calling and lying about things they heard about me to try to get stories about me when I was at ABC? Guys calling and saying, 'I heard he's the Charlie Rose of ABC, used to invite women to the hotel and open up his bathrobe.' Do I look like the kind of f----- guy who's gotta do that?"

And Fredo said, "The media is not your friend."

Fact-check: TRUE.

Never talk to a cop without a lawyer. Never talk to the media without a tape recorder.

ITEM 9: Justice delayed is justice denied.

KTLA reported, "13 men and a woman went on trial Wednesday over the 2015 attacks against the Charlie Hebdo satirical newspaper and a kosher supermarket in Paris that marked the beginning of a wave of violence by the Islamic State group in Europe.

"17 people and all 3 gunmen died during the three days of attacks in January 2015. Later that year, a separate network of French and Belgian fighters for Islamic State struck Paris again, this time killing 130 people in attacks at the Bataclan concert hall, the national stadium, and in bars and restaurants.

"Those on trial in France’s terrorism court are accused of buying weapons, cars, and helping with logistics. Most say they thought they were helping plan an ordinary crime. Three, including the only woman accused, are being tried in absentia after leaving to join Islamic State."

We shall see if aiding and abetting a massacre is a right in France.

ITEM 10: Just the News reported, "Amid riots, looting and violence in the streets, Goya Foods' CEO says polling showing President Trump's support rising among Latinos is because immigrants arriving in America seeking opportunity don't come to 'tear things down, cancel things.'

"A new Hill-HarrisX poll conducted last week found support for Trump among Hispanic voters growing by 2 points, from 30% in the last poll to 32%. After the 2016 election, The Atlantic noticed exit polls analyzed by the Pew Research Center showed that 28% of Latino voters supported Trump, and that figure had risen to 30% support as of February.

"As Domenico Montanaro put it in a June 26 analysis of an NPR/PBS News Hour/Marist poll: 'The one group Biden continues to underperform with slightly is Latinos — 59% of Latinos said they'd vote for Biden over Trump, but Clinton won 66% of their votes in 2016.'"

These riots are boomeranging on Democrats just as their boycott of Goya Foods did.

ITEM 11: Where is my Bill Clinton "Miss Me Yet" sign?
I am Don Surber and I approve this message.

ITEM 12: Graeme Wood of The Atlantic wrote, "Last week, NPR’s Code Switch published an interview with Vicky Osterweil, the author of In Defense of Looting: A Riotous History of Uncivil Action. NPR summarizes the book as an argument that 'looting is a powerful tool to bring about real, lasting change in society.' If the real, lasting change you wish to effect is burning society to cinders and crippling for a generation its ability to serve its poorest citizens, then I suppose I am forced to agree."

Wood also wrote, "I am also from recent-immigrant stock. Osterweil euphemizes looting as 'proletarian shopping,' and no one from a place that has recently experienced this phenomenon can take seriously her assurance that it can happen justly and bloodlessly. When I think of riots and smashed storefronts, I think of Kristallnacht. I think of American businesses built by penniless immigrants who preferred to forfeit their vacations and weekends for 30 years rather than see their children suffer as they did; I think of these businesses ransacked in 30 minutes and left in ruins. Osterweil at least has the psychology right when she says that looting can be 'joyous and liberatory.' I have never seen a sullen looter, but I have seen plenty of shop owners crying next to the smoking remains of their children’s future."

There were reasons looters once were shot on sight.

They were good reasons, too.

ITEM 13: The Post Millennial reported, "Joe Biden finally took questions today after delivering some remarks, before travelling to Kenosha, Wisconsin, tomorrow. Biden appeared to blame Trump supporters in Portland for 'someone shot by someone in the crowd, with a bullet, killed.'"

The victim was a Trump supporter shot by a Democrat Antifa leader.

Somebody throw in the towel already.
It is time to put Grandfather Clock in storage.
He still chimes but he doesn't know what time it is.

ITEM 14: The New York Times alleged on March 20 (no links to pay sites), "Mr. Trump has obsessed over the daily gyrations of the stock market like no president before him. He trumpeted its relentless rise as a validation of his leadership, his financial acumen and his policies. Disappointing days were the fault of Democrats, the media or the Federal Reserve. Stocks, he warned, would crash if he was impeached or 'if anyone but me takes over in 2020.'

"Now his bragging rights and doomsday threats have evaporated — along with trillions of dollars in wealth.

"Stocks continued their monthlong meltdown on Friday, with the Dow Jones industrial average tumbling about 4.5 percent to below where it stood when Mr. Trump was sworn in as president on Jan. 20, 2017. The S&P 500 also sank more than 4 percent, though it remains up — barely — during the Trump presidency.

"The implosion — stocks have collapsed about 35% since the coronavirus spread globally last month — is shaping up to be one of the most destructive periods in American financial history. More than $8 trillion in shareholder value has been destroyed. On four occasions in the past month, automatic circuit breakers halted trading to stall dizzying sell-offs. The plunge is the steepest since at least 1928.

"The market collapse isn’t Mr. Trump’s fault, although some of his decisions may not have helped, including his statements minimizing the danger of the virus. The fast-spreading pandemic has forced countries all over the world to essentially shut down their economies, and that probably would have happened in the United States regardless of who was in the White House.

"But the speed and violence of the fall have stunned just about everyone. Only a month ago, on Feb. 19, Mr. Trump was in chest-thumping mode. 'Highest Stock Market In History, By Far!' he crowed on Twitter.

"That day turned out to be the market’s peak."

Ah, Peak Trump -- the battlecry of Bill Kristol in 2015 that still leaves him sobbing today.

On Wednesday, the three major indices reached record highs. Again. Stocks are up Umpteen Percent since we elected Donald Trump president. Throughout the Covid 19 Crash, I mocked it because I knew the people selling off were wrong.

Never Bet Against Donald John Trump.

Never Bet Against The USA.

ITEM 15: United Press International reported, "The U.S. economy added 428,000 jobs in the month of August, a private assessment from ADP and Moody's Analytics said Wednesday.

"The report showed that more than half of the new jobs, 270,000, were created by large businesses with more than 1,000 employees.

"Small businesses created 52,000 jobs and medium businesses 79,000, the analysis said."

Small business is still hurting. Riots and lockdowns have killed a generation of businesses. Democrats are proud because they hate middle-class shopkeepers, gym owners, and beauticians.

ITEM 16Fox reported, "A defiant House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday claimed she was set up and a hair salon in San Francisco owes her an apology after it was revealed the California Democrat visited the business despite local ordinances keeping salons closed amid the corona virus pandemic.

"Pelosi, D-Calif., was responding to backlash after Fox News first reported that she visited a ESalonSF in San Francisco on Monday afternoon for a wash and blow-out."

Marion Barry called. He wants his Bitch Set Me Up line back.

ITEM 17: Ann Althouse reported, "In collaboration with the Black Student Union at the school, University of Wisconsin-Madison leaders are discussing plans to remove a 70-ton boulder from campus grounds due to it once being called a racist name nearly a century ago."

It is a prehistoric rock left there from a long ago ice age.

Althouse wrote, "What is the cost of moving a 70-ton boulder? What is the value of the beauty of the rock itself, which has nothing to do with racism? The only reason for attacking the rock is that there is no way to do anything to the use of a word 95 years ago. That's an incident in the past. Gone. But the rock is there. You're getting mad a rock? No, you're asking for something to be done that can be done. A 70-ton rock can be moved, and so the demand is to move the rock. It's theater, and the university should have the sense to say no."

This is what happens when you give children everything they want. They go crazy and begin demanding things that make no sense.

What needs to be removed is the segregationist Black Students Union.

ITEM 18: U.S. Attorney Tim Garrison of Kansas City announced, "355 arrests have been made by local and federal law enforcement officers in Operation LeGend.

"Among those arrested since the launch of the operation, 88 are federal defendants in the Western District of Missouri and 21 are federal defendants in Kansas (18) and Texas (3). Among the remaining 246 arrests, 33 were homicide cases and 62 were fugitives with either state or federal warrants for their arrest. The remaining 151 non-fugitive arrests were either supervised release violators or were referred for prosecution in state court."

The box score in the other cases is impressive.
-    35 defendants have been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm;
-    26 defendants have been charged with drug trafficking;
-    Five defendants have been charged with being a drug user in possession of a firearm;
-    Six defendants have been charged with being in possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking;
-    Five defendants have been charged with being in possession of a firearm in furtherance of violent crime;
-    Two defendants have been charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition;
-    Four defendants have been charged with armed robbery;
-    Three defendants have been charged with carjacking; and
-    Two defendants have been charged with arson.
Obama used the FBI as his personal KGB.

President Trump has given the federal law enforcement apparatus back to the people.

ITEM 19: Bloomberg reported, "President Donald Trump is ordering a review of funding of Democratic-run cities that have been epicenters of a wave of protests demanding racial justice, saying so-called anarchist jurisdictions should be disfavored for federal money.

"Trump signed a memorandum Wednesday aimed specifically at New York, Portland, Seattle and Washington, D.C., but including steps that could affect other U.S. cities. The document calls on the White House Office of Management and Budget to detail within two weeks how all federal agencies will submit reports detailing funding to those four cities.

"'It is imperative that the federal government review the use of federal funds by jurisdictions that permit anarchy, violence, and destruction in America’s cities,' according to the memo, which was reported earlier by the New York Post."

And the wedge between suburbs and cities in blue states widened.

Fredo's dumber brother, Governor Cuomo, reacted and said, "“He better have an army if he thinks he’s gonna walk down the street in New York. New Yorkers don’t want to have anything to do with him."

Threatening the president of the United States with violence can get you locked away in a federal prison for 5 years.

Plus, it is a weird way to deny that you promote violence in the streets.

FINALLY, a reader emailed, "Hi Don. A few weeks ago I realized that BLM stands for Bitter Little Marxists. This has made following the news much easier. Cheers."

I love it.

    Did Red China take her entire family in and shower them with benefits? Nope.

    Did Red China overlook her bizarre marriage history, which, if proven, would violate the legal and moral codes against incest and bigamy? Nope.

  18. #17. When my daughter was on staff at the K-state Collegian, the Black Student Union regularly complained that they were not getting meeting coverage. My daughter pointed out that all other groups simply filed a report which the paper published.
    She then got into a debate as to what would happen if someone formed a White Student Union. Why was one racist but not the other?
    She ended up joining the BSU. She perished in a car wreck the following year. Among representation from the school were more blacks than whites.
    My point? With good leadership and direction people become good citizens. With no leadership or poor leadership, we condemn them to failure. Conservatives are being driven from campuses because the left want failures. Same reason they indoctrinate instead of educate.
