Highlights of the News

Good morning. Donald John Trump is still our president.

ITEM 1: Laura Wolk wrote, "I arrived at Notre Dame in 2013. Like any new law student, my head swirled with hopes, thoughts, dreams, and fears. But unlike many other students, I also needed to singlehandedly ensure that I had access to the tools and technologies necessary for me to succeed as a completely blind person.

"Unfortunately, things got off to a bumpy start. The assistive technology purchased by the university, which would have allowed me to compete on equal footing with my sighted peers, did not arrive on time. And, in keeping with Murphy’s law, my personal laptop immediately broke, leaving me overnight with no reliable way to access my texts, take notes, or otherwise keep pace in class. I needed help, and I needed it fast.

"For that help, I turned to then-professor Barrett. Although I had known her for only two weeks, I felt confident that this poised, articulate woman would not dismiss my concerns and would counsel me on how to get the university to procure the needed assistive technology as quickly as possible.

"But she did not merely help me to readjust the burden on my own shoulders; she took it from me and carried it herself. I will never forget the moment when she looked at me from across her desk and said, coolly and matter-of-factly, 'Laura, this is not your problem anymore. It’s mine.'"

Professor Barrett took care of the problem, and a few more. Wolk went on to become the first blind woman to clerk on the Supreme Court.

: This just in, Biden's staff runs his Twitter account and... ... they are all idiots.

ITEM 3: The Oskaloosa Herald reported, "The murderer of a local couple closely tied to the Ottumwa, Oskaloosa and Pella communities was executed by the federal government Thursday evening."

The double murder of  Christian missionaries Todd and Stacie Bagley occurred in Texas on June 21, 1999, where they planned to attend a revival. Christopher Vialva, Brandon Bernard, Christopher Lewis, Tony Sparks and Terry Brown kidnapped them, forced them to drive to an isolated place, and killed them.

The story said, "After driving around for several hours, Vialva, Bernard, Lewis and Brown drove to an isolated area in the Belton Lake Recreation Area on the Fort Hood military reservation. According to case documents, the car was doused in gasoline before Vialva shot Todd and Stacie Bagley in the head with a .40 caliber gun. Then, Bernard set the vehicle on fire.

"According to case documents, Stacie Bagley was still alive when the car was set on fire and died from smoke inhalation."

The NBC story was headlined, "U.S. executes black man for double murder committed at 19."

The story did not mention the Bagleys until Paragraph 22, only after making their murderer out to be the victim.

This follows the ACLU line. The communist front group tweeted before his death, "Christopher Vialva is scheduled to be executed this Thursday, September 24 for a crime he committed as a teenager. NO ONE should be executed for a mistake they made as a juvenile."

Oh? Tell that to the millions of babies killed in the womb by their teenage mothers.

Old enough to vote, old enough to die.

ITEM 4: I am surprised they used multi-syllabic words in talking to him. The consequences are the Deep State will have to get dirt on her like it did Roberts. Maybe threatening her kids is enough.

ITEM 5: Asia Times reported, "Enraged by near-daily attacks on its interests in Iraq, Washington has threatened to close its embassy in Baghdad, in a blow to a premier seen as a bulwark against Iran.

"Iraq has long been caught in a tug-of-war between its allies Iran and the US, rendered rockier by Washington’s maximum pressure policy against Tehran since 2018.

"In a new escalation, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called Iraqi President Barham Saleh last week to deliver an ultimatum, Iraqi and foreign officials told AFP.

"Unless Iraq’s government puts an end to the rockets raining down on US military and diplomatic sites, Washington would shutter its embassy and recall its troops, the sources said."

Both Iraq wars were won by our troops and lost by our politicians. President Trump seems to be in a no-win situation, but never bet against Donald Trump.

ITEM 6: 50,000 People Pray at the National Mall in Prayer March 2020.

The reader who sent me this said, "When I see a Christian gathering like this one, my Jewish soul is inspired too."

Well, it is the same G-d. Same country. Same struggle.

ITEM 7: Just the News reported, "The White House chief of staff said Sunday there are 'varying degrees of confidence' in FBI Director Christopher Wray among the Cabinet, and President Trump could replace the director if he loses trust.

"'Certainly, he's still there. The minute that the president loses confidence in any of his Cabinet members -- they serve at his pleasure -- he will certainly look at replacing them,' Mark Meadows said of Wray.

"Meadows, who criticized Wray last week over comments the FBI director made about voter fraud, told CBS Face the Nation that Cabinet officials are split on Wray's performance. He cited reports that last week officials found discarded military ballots supporting Trump and compared that to Wray's comments he does not believe voter fraud is widespread."

The problem is, who do you replace him with? Too many swamp critters are in the Senate fighting for the status quo.

ITEM 8: CBS reported, "Voters say the Supreme Court vacancy has added to the already high stakes of the presidential election.

"In the battlegrounds of Georgia and North Carolina, most say it makes the election feel even more important — it's one more factor in an election in which most voters from both parties think their culture and way of life are at stake.

"President Trump's voters here think the Democrats want society to change too fast, and Joe Biden's voters think Republicans want to go back to the past. The court fight may not be changing votes, since most were already locked in, but many describe it as adding even more motivation to the race. Both sides are about equally likely to say they'll vote (and some already have). In two contests that will turn almost entirely on turnout, that's essential."

4 Democrat senators who voted against Kavanaugh lost in 2018.

No Republican who voted for Kavanaugh lost.

ITEM 9: The Orange County Register reported, "A Black Lives Matter protest against police brutality and systemic racism was met with a counter-protest and turned violent when a car drove through the crowd in Yorba Linda on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 26.

"The driver, a 40-year-old woman described as a Black Lives Matter supporter, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder, authorities said.

"The BLM march took place on Imperial Highway near Yorba Linda Boulevard, with counter-protesters shouting insults while carrying American flags and Trump 2020 banners gathered along the other side. At one point, the counter-protesters crossed the six-lane highway and confronted the BLM group. Face-to-face, the sides alternately shouted Black Lives Matter and U.S.A."

The headline did not mention the driver was a BLM protester.

Paragraph 7 finally mentioned the victims were Trump supporters.

OCR used to be a good newspaper.

ITEM 10: Washington Free Beacon reported, "Several of the foreign-policy hands most likely to join a Biden administration have been consistently wrong in their prognostications about the Trump administration’s global diplomacy, including their predictions that Trump's hardline policies would ignite war in the Middle East and make Israel less safe, a new report says.

"The Democratic Alliance Initiative, a new conservative foreign-policy group, recently issued an investigation into leading liberal voices who are likely to play a central role in a Biden administration. It details how these so-called experts have consistently predicted catastrophe and conflict across the globe as a result of President Donald Trump’s foreign-policy decisions, particularly toward Iran and its allies.

"Many of Biden's top advisers, including prominent names who served with him during the Obama administration, predicted that Trump’s efforts would isolate the United States and incite a military conflict. In reality, these policies have constrained Iran’s atomic weapons program, bolstered Israel’s security, and brought the Middle East closer to peace than ever before, the study says. If Biden wins the 2020 election, his administration is poised to roll back most of Trump's signature foreign-policy achievements. This would include rejoining the landmark nuclear deal and altering policies meant to bolster Israel's border security against an encroaching Iranian threat."

Ambassador Stevens is not among his foreign policy advisers.

ITEM 11: The Daily Mail reported, "More than 1,500 people participated in a pro-Trump motorcade that drove through the city of Des Moines on Saturday.

"About 500 vehicles started in the suburbs south of Des Moines before heading downtown.

"Images of the event showed supporters of President Donald Trump waving American flags while others held Trump 2020 flags. Some supporters held signs that read 'Women for Trump' and 'Keep America Great.' Trump will face Democratic nominee, Joe Biden, on Tuesday for the first presidential debate ahead of the November 3 election."

Biden has parades too. OLD: Where's Biden hidin'?

NEW: Where's those decidin' on Biden hidin'?

ITEM 12: United Press International reported, "Residents of the Midwest may be wondering what month the calendar flipped to later this week, as a November-like air mass plunges in with gusty winds, spotty showers and perhaps even some snowflakes.

"Following a modest cooldown which will push high temperatures 5-10 degrees Fahrenheit below late-September averages early this week, the region will see a more drastic cool-down for the second half of the week."

Finally, after 50 years, we have proof of Global Cooling. The only thing that can save us is more carbon dioxide. Everyone, exhale! Exhale! Exhale!

: Senate Republicans want to play a game of chicken with Democrats. Democrats will go off the cliff, then claim their sleeve got caught in the door handle.

ITEM 14: Michael Santoli reported, "The September market correction has done much of the work set out before it.

"The four-week slide took the S&P 500 down 10% at last week’s low, cost the Nasdaq Composite as much as 14%, relieved grossly overextended conditions in mega-cap tech shares, punctured investor overconfidence and showed newcomers to trading that stocks don’t always go up.

"So far, so good. (Or bad, depending on one’s risk exposures a month ago.)

"If all that was needed after the racy summer rally was to unwind extreme chart readings and sow some self-doubt in bullish investors, it’s not clear much more of a decline is necessary.

"Aside from skimming 10% from the S&P 500 and more from the biggest and most stretched growth stocks, the retreat also took the market back in time. At last week’s lows near 3200 — approached a few separate times without being breached — the index returned to where it traded June 8, the peak of reopening optimism; this was also its year-end 2019 level."

Given that there was an annualized 32% reduction in the GDP in the second quarter, even having to have a correction was remarkable.

They said it would take 10 years to recover. It took less than 6 months.

ITEM 15: The Republican Jewish Coalition wants Biden to apologize for calling President Trump Goebbels.

Its Executive Director Matt Brooks said, "The rule in debate is that if your only argument is to call your opponent a Nazi, you have no argument at all. Instead of engaging in a debate on policy, Joe Biden has descended to name-calling and Holocaust references.

"There is no place in political discourse for Holocaust imagery or comparing candidates to Nazis. It’s offensive and it demeans the memory of the Holocaust, the suffering of the victims, and the lessons we must learn from that terribly dark chapter of history. Joe Biden has been in politics long enough to know this. To diminish the horrors of Goebbels and the Nazis by trying to attack the President with that comparison is, as we say, a shanda.

"We call on Joe Biden to retract and apologize for that egregious comment."

Anymore, I believe Democrats want to downplay the Holocaust because they want to diminish Jews.

ITEM 16: The New York Post reported, "Beginning in March 2021, Berkeley, California, will become the first US city to ban the sale of unhealthy food from supermarket checkout areas.

"That liberal Bay Area city council unanimously voted Tuesday night that, starting next year, grocery stores larger than 2,500 square feet will be required to sell not the typical selection of junk food but 25 square feet of healthy items within the three-foot radius of the register.

"The healthy checkout ordinance defines healthy as items containing five or less grams of added sugar and less than 250 milligrams of sodium per serving, according to ABC 7."

Before they do that, how about banning the use of food stamps to buy potato chips?

ITEM 17: TMZ Sports reported, "Joe Montana and his wife had the scare of their life Saturday, when an intruder came inside the house and snatched one of their grandchildren right out of a woman's arms.

"Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Sports ... at 5 PM Saturday a 39-year-old woman entered the home where Joe and Jennifer Montana were staying -- she got in through an unlocked door. The intruder saw a woman holding a baby -- it's unclear who was holding the infant.

"Our law enforcement sources say the intruder walked away with Montana's grandchild to another part of the house where she was confronted by Joe and Jennifer. They wrestled the baby away from the woman. The intruder then ran out of the house."

The quarterback made the interception!

ITEM 18: Palin: Reloaded. I doubt she will run, but she is having fun.

Meanwhile, Texas really is reloading. Sure, it's just another excuse to run it again. Why not? It's not an ad. It's life after liberalism.

ITEM 19: Leslie Eastman retweeted this. Feminists cannot handle having a strong woman who can excel in public life while raising 7 kids.

ITEM 20Breitbart reported, "During a speech to the U.S Conference of Mayors on Saturday, Joe Biden claimed he was elected to the Senate 180 years ago."

As Foghorn Leghorn might say, "Nice guy, but about as sharp as a sack of wet mice."

ITEM 21: The New York Times alleged it "obtained Donald Trump's tax information extending over more than two decades, revealing struggling properties, vast write-offs, an audit battle and hundreds of millions in debt coming due." Gee, the president didn't pay taxes when he posted a loss for the year.

Nobody cares.

His critics are still gonna hate him. His supporters are still going to like him. He is still going to win.

No links to pay sites.

ITEM 22: Slate magazine said, "The Contempt of Notorious ACB. Applying Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s nickname to Amy Coney Barrett is deliberately degrading."

Notorious B.I.G. could not be reached for comment.

ITEM 23: The Associated Press reported, "A federal appeals court on Sunday temporarily halted a six-day extension for counting absentee ballots in Wisconsin’s presidential election, a momentary victory for Republicans and President Donald Trump in the key presidential battleground state.

"As it stands, ballots will now be due by 8 p.m. on Election Day. A lower court judge had sided with Democrats and their allies to extend the deadline until Nov. 9. Democrats sought more time as a way to help deal with an expected historic high number of absentee ballots."

They overturned an Obama judge.

The case is now before the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

You know who sits on that court?

Hint: she has 7 kids.

Democrats know Wisconsin law is not on their side. They just want to throw shade on the election results. Again.

ITEM 24: Breitbart reported, "Project Veritas has released the results of an investigation into alleged ballot harvesting by supporters of Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar in Minnesota, a key swing state in the 2020 presidential election.

"Video footage captured by Project Veritas shows an operative, Liban Mohamed, bragging about collecting hundreds of ballots.

"'Numbers do not lie. Numbers do not lie. … You can see my car is full. All these here are absentee ballots. Can’t you see? Look at all these; my car is full,' Mohamed can be heard saying in the video."

The media will ignore this scandal just as they ignored Spygate, Bidengate, Huntergate, Muellergate, and every other Democrat scandal.

  1. Trump needs to start looking out for his friends. He's been stabbed in the back so often by republicans I can understand his reluctance in doing so. Lindsey Graham sent the steele dossier "up the chain," now he's begging for help. If what Don predicted above happens and the new SCOTUS turns into Roberts because of "deep state" threats, something needs to be done, like yesterday. This is why AG Barr is making me so ill, all of this would have ended if leaders of the progressive movement were imprisoned. Grab an old easy target at least, the progressives are actively planning a coup out in the open, on the record for the world to see and pretending it's the opposite.

  2. #7 which cabinet members have confidence in Wray? Just so we know who to replace next.

    1. Wray was an a** from moment one...Go back and watch his conformation hearing. This was right on the heels of Comey's firing mind you, and this arrogant a** (seems to come to mind every time I attempt to write his name) came outta the gate speaking as an arrogant, Swamp insider. Trump shouldda cashiered the guy back then, but the Mueller furor would've triggered howls of protes. ZB

  3. Replies
    1. Grenell for Sec. of State Pompeo for Sec Defense Sidney Powell for FBI. then dismantle it..

  4. Item 5 in Keeping with the practice established by the South East War games 50 years ago.

  5. Item #23: Now do Pennsylvania. Judge has rewritten the election law to extend the time period post-election and require acceptance of ballots cast in that didn't follow the rules (not in proper envelopes, not verified, etc.).

  6. Item 16: Lesson in how corporations become radicalized: I used to work for Pepsi, based in NY, which consistently allied itself with Republicans while arch enemy Coke, headquartered in Atlanta, was solidly Dem.

Along came food stamps. Soft drinks and salty snacks (Pepsi bought Frito Lay in 1965) are permitted purchases.

Walmart (founded by very conservative Sam Walton) moved into the food business in the 90's.

Both Pepsi and Walmart derive big sales from food stamp recipients.

Pepsi is now a BLM donor hostile to Republicans as is Walmart.

  7. Over the past ten days: RBG passes away on Rosh Hashanah (the Feast of Trumpets); 100,000 devout faithful gather on the National Mall to pray and ask G-d for forgiveness; President Trump nominates ACB, a devout Christian, avowedly pro-life, to replace RBG, secular and a defender of abortion, on the Court--on the eve of Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), no less; the Left reacts to all this as if struck by a bolt of lightning. Which, in a way, they have been. Typically, they don't get the message.

    There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear...

    1. Thanks, Josh. Now I’ve got that song fugue-ing through my brain.

A very palpable sense exists that G-d’s hand is orchestrating these events.

    2. What is happening is that we are witnessing the fulfillment of ancient prophesies concerning the Children of Israel. As set forth in the Bible, history here is cyclical, with a sovereign kingdom, decay due to decadence, defeat, exile, persecution, redemption and restoration. It's as though the world is acting out a 2,500-year-old drama in spite of itself. And this drama was canonized as part of the Christian Holy Scriptures from the very beginning. No wonder we have heard President Trump being compared to Cyrus.

    3. This comment has been removed by the author.

    4. Rosh Hashanah is also known as the Day of Judgment.

  8. #7- Replace Fay Wray with Kurt Schlichter. The FBI would be cleaned out in about three-six months.

  9. #1. Justice is supposed to be blind. Maybe some day we will have Laura Wolk on the Supreme Court.
#3. For crimes like rape and murder, I am in favor of executing juveniles. The scotus screwed up that ruling when they took it off the table.
#7. Ric Grenell for the interim slot. He can clean house while the Senate twiddles their thumbs.
#12. The cows need to fart more.
#15. They want us to forget history so George Soros can relive his youth.
#22. Notorious? She's a Barrett,. President Trump is bringing out the big guns. ( Think M-82 here)

  10. 24 Omar is getting cocky this will be her downfall.

  11. Item 13: Liked the "Rebel Without a Cause" reference. One of the three movies James Dean was in.

  12. #3 - Sounds like a good result to a horrible crime.

And now, for a bit of trolling the libs: We need the following federal law: Old enough to vote => old enough to be (required to be) tried as an adult and be subject to all legal penalties.

  13. Lithwick has the vapors! Will some gentleman fetch her a fainting couch? What hysteria!

  14. In addition to his Obstruction of Justice, Chris Wray couldn't even be bothered to answer his frantic TipsLine calls to stop the Marjorie Stoneman-Douglas shooter from slaughtering 17 students. Nobody at the FBI even missed lunch over that criminal dereliction of duty. They were too busy framing the President to do their job.

  15. Never got the link yet in #1 before my throat caught at the Surber concluding tie-in sentence. ZB

  16. 4: In fairness to Roberts, he seems to vote Right most of the time, he goes Left on health issues.

    Why I can't fathom.

15: Jexit is real and the Demos are running scared.

16: That would be like acting like Massa.

    24: O'Keefe rides again.

  17. "...the Deep State will have to get dirt on her like it did Roberts."

I am relieved to hear someone else say the quiet part out loud. Thank you.

    1. Some have posited that the Trumpser knows what the Dems have on Roberts. He will be allowed to retire after the election results are in....

  18. Was listening to John Nolte on Breitbart this morning and he made a brutally simple point: while Republicans like blaming COVID for DJT's uphill re-election battle, the fact is Biden has been leading him in every major poll since Biden declared his candidacy in April of last year. This is not a volatile election; it's been steady Eddy for 18 months.
It's very unusual for an incumbent president to be consistently trailing -- especially with peace abroad and a strong economic wind at his back, as he had until this spring. It seems that every time he gets a little momentum -- such as after the RNC -- he hits a wall. True, DJT has been a polarizing figure from Day One, but it's worth noting.
True, the economy is coming back, but there are still an awful lot of people out of work. And the vacant storefronts dotting the landscape represent literally millions of crushed dreams. It isn't DJT's fault, but those folks are going to be looking for someone to blame, and he is simply the most available target.
I am also worried that DJT doesn't seem to be seriously prepping for the debate tomorrow night. First debates historically don't go well for incumbent presidents -- Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush 41 and 43 and even BHO all blew their first (or only) re-election debates. (You can even throw in Nixon in '60 as a semi-incumbent.) Clinton in '96 was the exception to the rule, but then, Dole (going back to "Democrat wars" in '76) could never debate his way out of a wet paper bag.
I am also hearing more callers on conservative talk radio making some variation on this theme: "I am sick and tired of hearing what Trump is going to do for backs and Hispanics. What about me? Where's the wall? Where's the immigration moratorium? Why is DoJ sitting on its a**?"" Those people will probably vote for DJT anyway, still, it's a worrisome sign that all might not be well with the base.
Now before we all head for the medicine cabinet to look for a razor to slit our wrists, there are reasons for optimism. DJT routinely outperforms his polls and that might be true again. The boat and car parades we've been seeing in swing states like Michigan show there is definitely enthusiasm for DJT that Biden lacks. I am also seeing more Trump signs than Biden signs out there.
I also think that confirming ACB before the election is likely to energize Republicans more than Democrats. While many of the latter will be angry, I also believe many will be demoralized. Overcoming a one-seat margin is a lot easier than overcoming a two-seat margin.
Still, we have to be psychologically prepared that the world as we have known it might well be upended on Nov. 3. If Biden wins, he will likely bring the Senate with him, clearing the way for a Hieronymus Bosch re-painting of our political scene.
As I say, they are reasons for hope, but as Capt. Kirk told the Enterprise crew in "The Immunity Syndrome," "Prepare yourselves."

    1. If Americans are dumb enough not to re-elect President Trump, Trump can start suing all the liars. Justice Clarence Thomas is itching to get New York Times v. Sullivan overturned.

    2. Some makes sense much doesn’t. Polls are constantly wrong when it comes to PDJT. How do you know he is not taking the prep for the debate seriously. He is no fool. This point was also made by noted never-Trumper Paul Meringoff at Powerline.

    3. As to debate prep, there are twenty four hours in a day. We can only account for twenty of them. Four hours is more prep time than Biden is getting. Oh, sleep?
Never underestimate what President Trump is capable of.

  19. Amy Coney Barrett has three must-watch videos.

  20. #9 - What's the difference between this drive through and Charlottesville? This BLM driver was lucky that someone did not die. Anyone ever acknowledge that as dispicapal a White Supremacist march may be, the city issued a permit. Anyone acknowledge that it was Antifa counter protesters came armed-to-the-teeth, spoiling for a fight? Why have we never heard this? Same reason the MSM does not cover this latest BLM drive through.

  21. #7 While Wray's comments about voter fraud is concerning, we could find some of his other comments even more so. For example he was asked recently about the Antifa organization and it's potential threat to America. His answer was similar to Nadler's. Wray didn't use the word myth but he may as well have when he indicated there was no evidence of any large scale Antifa organization.

  22. #13: I liked the "Rebel Without a Cause" reference.

  23. This comment has been removed by the author.

  24. Re: Texas Reloading Video.
    Brilliant! Great piece of work!
Compare this to the painful skit Yang and whoever did after-the-DNC-convention regarding the (mis)pronunciation of Kamala's name (comma-la) - their awkward attempt at humor trying to find a way to mispronounce Pence's name. Painfully bad. Beyond awful. Lame

  25. The OC Register building stands vacant. Fortunately, the Zombie OC Register is mostly behind a paywall. I only bought it for the crossword puzzles anyway.

  26. "Project Veritas has released the results of an investigation into alleged ballot harvesting by supporters of Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar "

    and the results are?
