Kamala who?

"There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
--- Oscar Wilde

Democrats are barely mentioning their vice presidential nominee.

Axios listed the 10 most talked about people from the DNC.

Kamala Harris was barely mentioned. She wasn't even an afterthought.

Michelle Obama got half the mentions among the Top 10 people.

Kamala got 1/2 of 1% of the mentions.

Michelle got nearly 100 times as many mentions. She should run.

Axios, which broke the story, said, "No speaker at the Democratic National Convention came close to generating as much online enthusiasm as Michelle Obama, according to NewsWhip data shared exclusively with Axios.

"Why it matters: By these measures, the most effective messenger in the Democratic Party is not even a politician."

I suppose there is nothing wrong with a vice presidential candidate floundering dwarfed like this, but so is the nominee. Only 24.6 million people watched his speech in which Democrats hid his dementia well.

Hillary drew 29.8 million viewers 4 years ago.

President Donald John Trump drew 32.2 million viewers. Brian Stelter declared at the time, "TV ratings for Donald Trump's acceptance speech weren't 'huuuge.'"

Donald Trump drew 31% more viewers than Biden did. And this was Biden's first major speech in months. Surely Democrats should have been interested in seeing if their nominee could read from a teleprompter without too many screwups.

But few Democrats seem to care about Biden. He is low energy. The DNC's ratings were a flop. Mark Tapscott observed, "If it was a pilot, nobody would be talking about a first-season contract."

That there is no buzz among Democrats for Kamala shows adding her to the ticket was like Hillary adding Tim Kaine. He sewed up Virginia for her. Kamala sews up California for Biden. Whew. What a relief.

To be fair, Mike Pence gets all the buzz of a bee in a snowstorm, but to be super fair even Reagan would have a tough time outdrawing The Donald.

Kamala could not beat out Cindy McCain who had 5 times the buzz. That would be like Eleanor McGovern outshining George H.W. Bush at the 1980 RNC.

Democrats are a withering party living in the past while their future goes up in flames in Baltimore, Chicago, Minneapolis, and now, Portland, Oregon. The party nominated a candle holder, and could not care less about their candle, Kamala.

Covid 19 won't keep as many Democrats from voting as apathy will.

  1. People ARE talking about Kamala Harris. There's a photo going around of her posing with Border Patrol officers while wearing a Border Patrol jacket. Her record as Attorney General has driven away blacks, and now it's hispanics. The talk is about which group she'll alienate next.

  2. Mae West said it even better than Oscar Wilde. "It is better to be looked over than to be overlooked."

  3. Living in Northern California people went from pride of having our state senator prominently elevated and then are being reminded what a naked opportunist she had always been and very much out of step with the current suspicion of everything having to law enforcement. The people who live in this state our schizophrenic! :-P

    1. Both Kamala Harris and Gruesome Newsom were winners in California's "Top Two" primaries that have made our general elections into contests between two Democrats with no GOPs on the ballot. In both cases, the general elections pitted a NorCal Democrat against a SoCal Democrat.

My theory is that NorCal voters, being more familiar with the NorCal candidates, cast their ballots for the SoCal candidates, and vice versa.

And since there are more people in SoCal, the NorCal candidates won.

I think it is hilarious that Joe Biden searched high and low and then selected a woman who is even less likable than Hillary. Even Kamala's friends don't like her.

When Harris was just a little girl with RBF, her mom had to hang a pork chop around her neck so the dog would play with her.

    1. For those who seek to criticize the upcoming convention of the Republicans, it is a fool's errand...ALL of these conventions are idiotic since I was a little kid (my 1st I recall was 1980)...The only thing America loathed back in the 3 network channel days, was being subjected to two weeks of hijacked TV programming every 4 Summers, while the TV newsies tried to convince us how important they {the media) were, and try to foist those mindless conventions on us...Any memory I had was people in middle age, wearing stupid styrofoam faux straw hats and stupid hooting and hollering [Note: Why I ever got my B.A. degree in poli sci., I'll never know].
The reason no one cares now especially, is that news sources are so vast, that people do not need to rely on the networks or establishment media news outlets to make their decisions for whom they vote.
Trying to talk down the speakers or Mr. Trump is folly. He is P.T. Barnum mixed with a sprinkle of Chris Hitchens ghost's ability to criticize both establishment political parties; and a lot of Lincoln, some Truman and Andrew Jackson, who both never shied from a political fight (literally in some cases); and a veneer of Patton. History will look back on POTUS Trump as the most open free thinking President in history. ALL politicians have a filter that they run every word through in their mind before its spoken, to see 'how it'll play in Peoria.' Pres. Trump has no such filter or need for one, as he is a businessman first and foremost. They are wired different, more swashbuckling. Kings hired privateers in the 17th and 18th centuries, for their freewheeling lifestyles to raid other country's ships, unencumbered by charters or treaties. America hired Pres. Trump in 2016, and soon, 2020 to plunder the other countries of their trade surpluses over America. He cares not what the majority think he should do or act (Big Media push opinion polls), he follows his instinct...The best Politician in my lifetime of my cynical political eye. ZB

  5. I predict PDJT will draw more viewers this year than he did four years ago. And post-convention bounce will be yuuuuuge.

The democrats thought they could have Horizontal Harris out on the campaign trail, and the excitement would be so great that no one would miss Slow Joe. Horizontal is more of a dud than the slow one!!

    2. If you only substituted the name Biden for Trump, you would be 100 per cent accurate. But zombies gotta zomb.

    3. Four years ago Trump gave a structured speech. This is rare in politics and told me he was Something Different--and that speech is what sold me on Trump.

    2. Biden's speech may have been "great" to the Dems who were desperately hoping that he wouldn't go into word salad mode, as he often does, but he was up to his usual trick: plagiarism.

He pinched his conclusion from a deceased Canadian left-wing politician, Jack Layton, who issued an open letter before he died in 2011.

Layton said, "“Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair.”

Biden said, "“For love is more powerful than hate. Hope is more powerful than fear. Light is more powerful than dark.”

  14. Hillary picked Tim Kaine so her biggest lapdog Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe Could give that Senate seat to Chelsea Clinton. I know it to my bones. Instead of pointing out how corrupt that was, the media would have cheered the first mother president-daughter Senator team in history.

  16. Kamala go one half of one percent. That was the same as her primary run support from her home state just before she dropped out. She couldn't get money or votes from her homeys and now she has to deliver something? Good luck with that. She adds nothing to the ticket.
