How to attract women and minorities: Be Republican

Kim Klacik owned the Internet on Monday when she unleashed a video showing her rocking a red dress and the Democrats who think they own Baltimore. Walking through the ruins of a once proud city, Klacik laid out the ugly facts of life in a city that last had a Republican mayor 53 years ago.

Amanda Prestigiacomo reported, "The ad was so hot, in fact, it seemed to have eclipsed former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech given on the same day, at least digitally, said The Post Millenial’s Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Ballingall."

To be fair, 18 million people saw Obama on TV, but Klacik went out an unknown and came back a star.

Her city needs her.

Baltimore is a classic Democrat city. The elitists live in luxurious condos in the prime parts of the city. Sports teams have shiny new stadiums.

And most black people are consigned to a lawless ghetto. The life expectancy in 14 neighborhoods is lower than North Korea's.

Baltimore is second only to St. Louis in murder rate at 59 murders per 100,000 people annually. Baltimore ranks No. 11 in the world. Most murders are black-on-black crimes.

Democrats have offered a steady stream of black women mayors who are corrupt and communist. It defunded the police when defunding the police wasn't coo-ool.

Klacik wants to change that. She seeks the congressional seat long held by the late Democrat lifer Elijah Cummings, who cried racist when President Donald John Trump pointed out the Cummings district is a rat-infested hellhole.

As a Republican, she faces long odds.

Matthew Crenson, a political professor at Johns Hopkins, called it a good ad but he doubts she will win. He pointed out, "Klacik has a steep electoral hill to climb. No Republican has earned higher than 27% of the vote in the 7th District in the past 18 years."

She got 25% of the vote in a special election for the seat in April.

That is OK.

Newt Gingrich ran three times before winning a congressional seat that Democrats held since Adam's rib became Eve.

Therein lies the secret of salesmanship. Keep knocking on those doors. Eventually one opens.

Klacik is the latest in a string of new stars in the Republican Party as it reaches out to women and minority voters. The best way to attract those voters is to offer women and minority candidates. And the best way to attract those candidates is by being Republican.

Pandering gets you nowhere.

Mitt Romney got 6% of the black vote and 27% of the Hispanic vote.

The Republican Establishment prescribed more pandering.

Donald Trump ignored them and got 8% of the black and 29% of the Hispanic vote.

Meredith Conroy had an interesting column last month, "2020 Could Be The New Year Of The Woman … For The GOP."

She pointed out that the Republican women running today are not like Olympia Snowe.

Conroy wrote, "Earlier this summer, Lauren Boebert unseated five-term GOP incumbent Rep. Scott Tipton in Colorado’s primary by running to his right. She now faces former state Rep. Diane Mitsch Bush in November."

Boebert is one of many actual conservative women who support the Second Amendment, oppose abortion, and back President Trump 100%.

Conroy interviewed Washington College political professor Melissa Deckman, author of Tea Party Women,

Conroy wrote, "What we’re seeing in 2020, though, might mark a new political moment for Republican women. Like Democrats, they’re motivated by anger — except it’s not toward Trump, said Deckman, but toward the women’s movement his election sparked. Deckman told me that in her earlier interviews with tea party women, she found that many resented the progressive women’s movement, and she thinks that resentment might be motivating GOP women now."

Of course.

Many women are -- gasp -- conservative. It is just that except for Fox News, they get little mass media attention.

John McCain's cynical selection of Sarah Palin set conservative women back because he failed to protect her from a media assault unseen since the first George Bush hung Dan Quayle out to dry.

President Trump is leading the way.

I doubt that Klacik would have run if President Trump had not laid the groundwork for her by calling the rat-infested district rat-infested.

Then, Roland tries to fool the posters here, and act like he isn't trolling, but serious. Without addressing Surber's post. Yeah, Right. He thinks he can fool Surber's supporters. 2. Baltimore probably would be better if it were run by Republicans. But it's never going to happen.

Republicans will simply never attract black voters as long as they keep reverting to racist behavior. Some of it is knee-jerk, some of it is real, some of it is just awkwardness on the part of politicians who don't deal with black folks regularly.

The Republican party is better off expanding their white base. Once whites are firmly in the minority, they can start a rebranding.

    6. The problem is that normal behavior is claimed to be racist by those who don't like being criticized and correctly labeled. So they claim their critics are racist to shut off any debate of the facts or the truth.

This only kicks the can down the road and places like Baltimore have been kicking the can for 50 years and it shows.

To answer Roland's '?' that still perplexes me some...It kinda began with her resigning as Governor [the public hates a quitter], then IMHO the "establishment" [a/k/a 'GOPE'] left her out to dry with that stupid accusation of the target-site map from the Gabby Giffords shooting, followed by the private/public incidents of her family: unwed/wed/ then unwed again daughter; the son with the arrests for domestic violence, and the slight erratic speech she gave at a Trump rally for the then candidate Trump...It visibly unnerved the future POTUS and probably cost her a spot in the Administration. I hope she "Phoenixes" after shedding the emotional family baggage, grabs your youngest son's hand and walks with him into her U.S. Senate seat --- Murkowski sent packing! Z Best

Affirmative action is a pity program, selective admissions is a pity program, quota hiring is a pity program. There are lots more, and Democratic elites know these build up their voter base.
Republicans think communities should get together and do what they can to improve themselves, and helping individuals compete in color-blind situations. They don't feel the same pity for blacks that Democrats do, but they do feel good about self-help, by everyone.
