Highlights of the News

Donald John Trump is still our president.

ITEM 1: PJ Media reported, "In a speech at the Minnesota State House on Tuesday, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) called for the dismantling of America’s economy and political system in an effort to root out oppression. She insisted that any wealth disparity between blacks and whites is the result of oppression and urged her fellow Democrats to 'tear down systems of oppression' in various sectors of American society.

Omar began her remarks by attacking Minnesota Republicans for refusing to pass the Democrats’ radical criminal justice reform bill, and then moved on to other claims of 'systemic racism.'"

The only systemic racism in America is affirmative action.

ITEM 2: National Review reported, "Georgia Governor Brian Kemp on Monday issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency and activating up to 1,000 National Guard members after Atlanta was wracked with violence over Independence Day weekend.

"The move follows 'weeks of dramatically increased violent crime and property destruction in the City of Atlanta,' said Kemp, a Republican.

"Over the July 4 weekend, Atlanta had eleven shootings with 31 victims, leaving five people dead, including an 8-year-old girl."

The black girl was shot and killed at a protest at a Wendy's where police had to shoot a DUI suspect who stole a weapon and tried to escape.

Democrats are nuts.

ITEM 3: CNBC reported, "Hirings showed their biggest monthly gain ever and separations posted their largest drop as Americans started going back to work in May, the Labor Department reported Tuesday.

"Employment vacancies also shot up, rising 8% amid reopenings from the coronavirus shutdowns, thanks largely to a jump in the hospitality industry, according to the closely watched Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey. Though it runs a month behind the more widely publicized nonfarm payrolls reading, the JOLTS report is a favorite gauge of Federal Reserve policymakers.

"Openings totaled just shy of 5.4 million for the month, up from 5 million in April. Hirings surged to 6.5 million from the 4.05 million in April, and separations plunged nearly 60% to 4.14 million. The layoffs rate tumbled from 5.9% in April down to 1.4%.

"The numbers help quantify the extent to which the jobs market repaired itself after an abrupt March shutdown that saw 11.5 million layoffs and discharges that month and nearly 10 million more in April due to social distancing and stay-at-home requirements brought on by the pandemic.

"The quits rate, seen as a gauge of worker confidence, increased to 1.6% from 1.3% in April, though it was still well below the 2.4% level from a year ago."

The job situation stabilized quickly.

21 million are jobless.

Not the 40 million predicted.

Unemployment is at 11.1% -- not the more than 20% predicted.

ITEM 4The Washington Examiner reported, "Economic numbers suggest a recession on its way out the door."

The story said, "As with everything economic, we only have fragmentary information, but things are looking good. ADP is a payroll processing firm that makes monthly economic assessments based on its own clients. ADP assessed June's gain would be 2.3 million new jobs. The official Bureau of Labor Statistics number a few days later was 4.8 million new jobs. That's known in the trade as a blowout number.

"Another close to real-time number is the Purchasing Managers' Index. Everything has to be made from something. If we ask producers, who buy products to make products, how things are going, then we get a good idea of what will be produced in the immediate future. In an index where anything above 50 is a gain, the 52.6% for U.S. manufacturing in June's numbers shows expansion. This is up from April's and May's very low levels, though we're not back to where we started at all."

We bottomed out.

ITEM 5: The Hill reported, "The White House has officially withdrawn the United States from the World Health Organization, a senior administration official confirmed Tuesday, breaking ties with a global public health body in the middle of the corona virus pandemic.

"The U.S. withdrawal is effective as of Monday and has been submitted to the United Nations secretary-general, the official said.

"Sen. Bob Menendez (N.J.), the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, tweeted that the administration informed Congress of the withdrawal."

WHO works for Red China.

Let Red China pick up its tab.

ITEM 6: American Thinker reported, "The China Meteorological Administration issued a No. 1 Flood warning as a second month of rain and earthquakes risks collapse of Three Gorges Dam and the safety of 400 million.

"Southern China in June suffered its worst flooding since 1940 with the overflowing of 250 rivers impacting 15 million residents and causing at least 121 people dead or missing.  The world's largest hydroelectric dam, the 1.4-mile-wide and 630-foot-high Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtse River with a 5-trillion-gallon capacity, fully opened its seven massive outlets to begin discharging a record 28 acre-feet per second.

"But after thirty-one days of rain, a record 16.8 inches falling between Sunday and Monday morning, and inflows running at 40 acre-feet per second after, CMA on July 4 issued an 80-percent risk of thundershowers for each of the next 11 days."

In Red China, 400 million people are a statistic.

Maybe WHO'll stop the rain.

ITEM 7: CNN reported, "Lin-Manuel Miranda responds to 'Hamilton' slavery criticism."

This musical was so woke in 2016 that Miranda and his cast lectured Mike Pence when he saw it as vice president-elect. That was then. This is now.

Miranda said, "All the criticisms are valid. The sheer tonnage of complexities and failings of these people I couldn’t get. Or wrestled with but cut. I took 6 years and fit as much as I could in a 2.5 hour musical. Did my best. It’s all fair game."

But how would that slave trading song go? I imagine Tony Orlando and Dawn singing "Buy a Negro Slave 'Round the Old Oak Tree."

"Did my best." That takes the cake.

I hope his brush with the cancel culture will teach Miranda not to lecture vice presidents elect.

But Miranda is crying all the way to the bank.

ITEM 8: The Times of Israel reported, "A fire that damaged a building used for producing centrifuges at Iran’s Natanz nuclear site last week was a deliberate attack, a website close to an Iranian security agency said Tuesday, in the first apparent public acknowledgment from Tehran that the incident was not an accident.

"Nour News, seen as a mouthpiece of Iran’s Supreme Council of National Security, claimed that the blast at the Natanz facility, which came amid a series of mysterious disasters that struck sensitive Iranian sites in recent days, bore similarity to other strikes against the country’s security infrastructure."

The news is not the explosion, which happened on Thursday. The news is Iran is admitting it was bombed.

ITEM 9: Jerusalem Post reported, "Women, teenagers worked as potters in ancient Israel, scholars show.

"From previous research, it was assumed that pottery manufacturing was mainly carried out by professional potters, proving a certain level of sophistication in the society."

Plus they paid the women only half as much as the men so they saved money.

ITEM 10: Flashback to November 27, 2013, NBC reported, "A leader of the Navajo Code Talkers who appeared at a Washington Redskins home football game said Wednesday the team name is a symbol of loyalty and courage — not a slur as asserted by critics who want it changed.

"Roy Hawthorne, 87, of Lupton, Ariz., was one of four Code Talkers honored for their service in World War II during the Monday night game against the San Francisco 49ers.

"Hawthorne, vice president of the Navajo Code Talkers Association, said the group's trip was paid for by the Redskins. The four men met briefly with team owner Dan Snyder but did not discuss the name, Hawthorne said.

"Still, he said he would endorse the name if asked, and the televised appearance in which three of the Native Americans wore Redskins jackets spoke for itself."

An Indian designed the logo.

We live in stupid times ruled by mobs of stupid people upset over stupid things -- with no flying cars in sight.

ITEM 11Summit News reported, "California Faculty Demands Free Studies For All Black Students; Charges That Education Is ‘Grounded In White Supremacy.’"

Wait a second. If education is grounded in white supremacy, why would we encourage black students to get an education?

The faculty union has not thought this argument through.

ITEM 12: This is not rhetoric. This is her plan.
Her sense of entitlement because she is a woman of color puts John Kerry to shame. She is a minor league AOC who really needs to learn how to use makeup.

ITEM 13: I almost forgot, July is Patriot Month. Kanji Yamanouchi, the Consul General of Japan in New York, didn't.

You don't have to be American to appreciate America.

ITEM 14: CNBC reported, "President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the White House plans to pressure state governors and educators to reopen schools in the fall, despite a soaring rate of corona virus infections in several states and an overall increase nationwide."

The president said, "We’re very much going to put pressure on the governors and the schools to reopen. Open your schools in the fall."

No school, no federal funding. It is that simple.

Just the News reported, "CDC 'never recommended ... that schools close,' says senior administration official."

We need science-based policy. Open the schools already.

ITEM 15: Vice reported, "Post Office Delivery Trucks Keep Catching on Fire. Hundreds of the iconic Post Office delivery trucks have caught on fire in recent years, thanks to a 30-year-old fleet and a manufactured budget crisis."

Sure, let's have the Post Office run the election.

ITEM 16Just the News reported, "A state attorney general in New York says that the Black Lives Matter Foundation must immediately stop seeking donations from New Yorkers who believe the organization is affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement."

The story also said, "The foundation, which is listed as a nonprofit with a singular employee and a UPS store as its address, raised more than $4 million following the May 25 death of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis. The majority of those funds have now been frozen as the foundation came under scrutiny.

"Many donors have given to the foundation in recent weeks thinking that they were contributing to the organization whose cause is to end police brutality. Companies including Apple, Microsoft and Google have recently made donation to the Black Lives Matter Foundation."

None of these virtue signalers made sure it wasn't a scam?

Big corporations are as stupid as big government.

ITEM 17: PJ Media reported, "Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson faced accusations of anti-Semitism following his bizarre decision to share a fake quote from genocidal Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. The quote warned that 'white Jews' will 'extort America' in a 'plan for world domination' that only 'the Negroes' can stop. The quote also claimed that 'the Negroes are the real Children of Israel.' When called out on the offensive post, Jackson at first doubled down, claiming he “has no hatred’ in his heart. Then he re-posted it."

Fake Hitler quote?

He used a Fake Hitler quote?

How messed up must you be to say something that even Hitler didn't say?

  1. Too many targets, Big D. WAY too many. Like fishing at a hatchery. Unfair. But SOMEBODY’S gotta do it!

BTW, anyone else think the protests will fizzle out after the end of July, when the unemployment sweetener goes away?

  2. 1. How does Omar explain wealth disparity between whites or between blacks? She can return to Somalia and enjoy life there.

5 - our President is a man of action. Love it.

    7. The Miranda warning resulted in a mealy mouthed response. He will still be lecturing conservatives.

9 - looks like the science wasn’t settled.

13 - I’d like to see Yamanouchi play the anthem on the accordion next year.

17 - Jackson is not Caucasian. Nor is he a conservative. He will get a pass for this.

  8. 1. I hope the GOP wins back the House just so that they can expel Ilhan Omar. And Schiff, Nadler, may as well throw Pelosi out too.

    7. Hamilton's failings? They were creating a nation. Good news for him, no one will be singing about his failings or anything about him in 200 years.

    10. We've apparently created an outrage culture. So, instead of taking my flying car to the space port for a vacation to the rings of Saturn, I get to be called racist for no reason.

  17. I still have vivid memories, as a brainwashed elementary school kid collecting funds for UNICEF, and seeing all those John Birch Society bumper stickers saying "Get US Out" of the UN. We thought they were so wierd then. That was over half a century ago, and now? We now know that the UN has nothing whatsoever to do with world peace.

  19. ITEM 9 - So archaeology proves that women held a higher position in Biblical society than previously believed. Around two years ago, archaeologists excavating the City of David in Jerusalem discovered the seal of "Elihana Daughter of Gael" that was used to stamp contracts and other official documents. They dated it from the reign of King Josiah, making the position of women 2,600 years ago more advanced than present day Saudi Arabia.

  24. In my misspent youth I worked in Virginia Politics. Mass mail was king. The GOP paid for a statewide mailing to everyone in the state (millions of pieces). The [NONPARTISAN???!!!] postal service sidelined the mail in its sacks until after the election, and then put it through a couple of weeks after the election. No one was prosecuted. No postage was refunded. Your post office knows your political affiliation. Your post office is the oldest bureaucracy in the United States. It was started before the Revolution. Any belief that the Postal service is reliably non-partisan should be grounds for involuntary commitment or inclusion in a live audience for an MSNBC show.
