Highlights of the News

July is Patriot Month. Donald John Trump is still our president, and Lee Greenwood is still singing.

ITEM 1Breitbart News reported, "President Donald Trump addressed the nation on Saturday at the White House, where he announced the first round of historical figures to be included in the National Garden of American Heroes."

Those on the list are John Adams, Susan B. Anthony, Clara Barton, Daniel Boone, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, Henry Clay, Davy Crockett, Frederick Douglass, Amelia Earhart, Benjamin Franklin, Billy Graham, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, Douglas MacArthur, Dolley Madison, James Madison, Christa McAuliffe, Audie Murphy, George S. Patton Jr., Ronald Reagan, Jackie Robinson, Betsy Ross, Antonin Scalia, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Harriet Tubman, Booker T. Washington, George Washington, and Orville and Wilbur Wright.

There is not a Confederate on the list. But the president included Chamberlain, who was a Civil War hero who led Union forces at Little Round Top in the Battle of Gettysburg. Severely wounded in the Second Battle of Petersburg in June 1864, he was given a deathbed promotion to brigadier general.

He lived for another 50 years, becoming governor of Maine and president of his alma mater, Bowdoin College. But the wound eventually did kill him. On February 24, 1914, at age 85, he expired with a surgeon who tended his wound at Petersburg by his side. He was the last soldier to die from a wound in the Civil War.

Christa McAuliffe does not belong. She was a teacher doing PR for NASA. Also, Teddy Roosevelt made Mount Rushmore but not the Garden of Donald Trump? And where pray tell are the industrialists who built the country: Cornelius Vanderbilt, Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, and Henry Ford?

But this is why he wrote this list. President Trump has shifted the national conversation from whom do we tear down to whom do we honor?

That is very presidential, and tres Trumpy. He doesn't destroy. He builds.
Democrats really, really, really hate black Republicans.

ITEM 2The Telegraph reported, "When Bill Clinton flew into London in September 2002 doors naturally flew open for him. He had stepped down as President of the United States after two terms only the year before and was on his way to address the Labour Party conference. Among the doors that opened were those to Buckingham Palace, when the Duke of York invited him to tour the Queen’s London home."

York is Prince Andrew.

During Clinton's tour, York arranged to have Ghislaine Maxwell and Kevin Spacey sit on the throne and pose for pictures. This was a breach of protocol that could be Exhibit A in any trial.

Photographs from 18 years ago are not magically found by $800-a-week reporters. The price for Secret Service protection is they keep records. Clinton may wish to lawyer up.

ITEM 3: Remember Gibson's Bakery winning a $44 million judgment from Oberlin for defamation? The radical left college does not have the money to cover the debt. Now Paul Mirengoff has reported Oberlin has lost an even bigger case.

He wrote, "the Sixth Circuit has ruled that a male student may proceed with a claim of sex discrimination against Oberlin for railroading him out of the college for alleged sexual assault. The case was filed under Title IX, which bars universities that receive federal funds from discriminating against students based on their sex."

He also wrote, "Judge Raymond Kethledge, a Bush 43 appointee and reported finalist for the Supreme Court vacancy filled by Neil Gorsuch, wrote the opinion. He was joined by Judge Chad Readler, a Trump appointee. Judge Ronald Lee Gilman, a Clinton appointee, dissented."

That is how we should report all decisions by federal judges by who sent them because we are living in a political world, and I am a political boy.

ITEM 4: Just the News reported, "Corona virus deaths in the country have nearly reached a level where the virus will cease to qualify as an epidemic under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rules, the federal agency reported on Friday.

"The CDC qualifies a disease outbreak as an epidemic if the number of deaths attributable to the disease exceeds a certain percentage of total deaths per week. That threshold for pneumonia, influenza and covid 19 fluctuates slightly depending on the time of year, ranging from around 7% at the height of flu season to around 5% during less virulent months.

"CDC data indicate that deaths from those ailments began skyrocketing in the country around the second week of March, hitting a peak around early May and then plummeting quickly after that.

"The latest data show that the percentage of deaths in the country attributable to those factors had as of the last week in June reached its lowest point since the end of last year, becoming "equal to the current epidemic threshold of 5.9%, the CDC said."

This was not 10 times as deadly as the flu.

Fire Fauci.

Very publicly.

ITEM 5: There is but one explanation.
They want us to die.

ITEM 6: Reuters reported, "American rapper Kanye West, a vocal supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump, announced on Saturday that he would run for president in 2020 in an apparent challenge to Trump and his presumptive Democratic rival, former Vice President Joe Biden."

Good for West. But he should run for president of Kardashia instead. The Kardashians could use a patriarchal leader.

ITEM 7: Reuters reported, "The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Saturday that it was discontinuing its trials of the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine and combination HIV drug lopinavir/ritonavir in hospitalized patients with covid 19 after they failed to reduce mortality.

"The setback came as the WHO also reported more than 200,000 new cases globally of the disease for the first time in a single day. The United States accounted for 53,213 of the total 212,326 new cases recorded on Friday, the WHO said."

WHO works for Red China, which is engaged in biomedical warfare against the United States.

We know it works. The media lies. Big Pharma lies. WHO lies. They may not all be working for Red China, but the communists are the big winner in all this.

ITEM 8: Foreign countries celebrated our nation's birth better than we did.
Thank you, Dubai.

ITEM 9: President Trump said at Mount Rushmore, "244 years ago in Philadelphia, 56 signers of our Declaration of Independence pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to boldly proclaim this eternal truth, that we are all made equal by God.

"Thanks to the courage of those patriots on July 4th, 1776, the American Republic stands today as the greatest, most exceptional and most virtuous nation in the history of the world.

"American heroes defeated the Nazis, dethroned the fascists, toppled the communists, saved American values, upheld American principles, and chased down the terrorists to the very ends of the earth. We are now in the process of defeating the radical left, the Marxists, the anarchists, the agitators, the looters, and people who, in many instances, have absolutely no clue what they are doing.

"Our inventors, scientists, doctors, and researchers have improved the lives of billions and billions of people all around the world. Our brave astronauts planted the American flag on the moon and America will be the first nation to land on Mars. All Americans living today are the heirs of this magnificent legacy. We are the descendants of the most daring and courageous people ever to walk on the face of the earth."

Mount Rushmore replied, you passed the audition.

ITEM 10: The Daily Beast reported, "Health officials in Florida have sounded the alarm over the discovery of a rare, brain-eating amoeba in the county that encompasses Tampa and several other cities."

This gives Florida Democrats Hope -- Bob Hope.

ITEM 11NBC Sports reported, "As the Redskins name-change debate continues to gain steam, people everywhere are weighing in on potential options for a switch."

The story said, "Quarterback Dwayne Haskins responded saying he liked the Redtails. The Redtails were a group of Tuskegee airmen, all-black fighter pilots during World War II."

Wait a second.

If the name Redskins insults Indians, then would not Redtails insult black people?

I thank Haskins for inadvertently exposing this name change nonsense for the sham it is. I get that mascots like Chief Wahoo are insulting. I don't get how the name Redskins or Indians does.

Of course, there is no logic to a communist argument that we must erase our past and besmirch our present. America is being conned.

ITEM 12The Associated Press reported, "The nearly quarter-million dollars in winning wagers reportedly placed at MGM Resorts last Sunday might be the largest sportsbook loss in Las Vegas history on bets made after an event has started.

"Seven longtime Las Vegas bookmakers can’t recall a larger loss, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. But each oddsmaker has taken hits on past posts and said it’s a fairly common occurrence at books.

"According to an ESPN report, Sunday’s bets were allowed to be placed because incorrect start times were posted on some Korean and Chinese baseball games due to a manual entry error.

"Nearly all of the approximately 50 wagers were placed on self-serve kiosks at the Bellagio between 1:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. when the games in question started at 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.

"Among the bets was a $250, 10-leg parlay that paid more than $137,100."

The only time to bet on a game is when you know its outcome.

ITEM 13: Just the News reported, "Senator Jeff Merkley on Friday announced that he will introduce legislation to prohibit airlines from filling middle seats during the corona virus crisis.

"The Oregon Democrat on Thursday tweeted a selfie in which he excoriated American Airlines."

As this would reduce airline revenue by one-third, we should exempt airlines from all state, federal, and local taxes for the duration of this ridiculous ban.

ITEM 14: The Washington Post (no links to pay sites) reported, "The seven-day average of novel corona virus cases in the United States set a record for the 26th straight day on Saturday as officials and health experts watched nervously to see whether July 4 gatherings would increase the spread. The new high came even as the holiday kept some state health departments from reporting their latest batches of infections.

"The virus continued to spiral out of control in much of the country, particularly in the South, as several states experienced record numbers of confirmed infections and hospitalizations. Florida logged another daily high number of new cases, while hospitalizations in Arizona set a record, and ICU capacity at the world’s largest medical center, in Houston, was exceeded at one point."

Riots and looting spread diseases. Pass it on.

ITEM 15: Fox reported, "The Fourth of July holiday weekend across the U.S. was marred by violence as more than 14 were killed and dozens were injured in shootings, including at a nightclub in South Carolina.

"In Chicago, a city known for its bloody gun violence, more than 67 people were shot over the holiday weekend and at least 13 were killed, including a 7-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy."

Going to Mount Rushmore was the safer than staying home for many people this weekend.

ITEM 16: Fox reported, "President Trump’s re-election campaign announced Sunday that the president will headline an outdoor rally in the battleground state of New Hampshire next weekend, just his second rally since the coronavirus pandemic swept across the nation in March.

"Campaign staffers said the rally will be held next Saturday, July 11, at the Portsmouth International Airport in Portsmouth, New Hampshire."

The Safer Than Chicago tour continues.

ITEM 17: Reuters reported, "Germany’s economy may recover from October onwards from the corona virus pandemic, Economy Minister Peter Altmaier said in a newspaper interview on Sunday.

"'I am sure that the downturn of our economy can be stopped after the summer break and that from October onwards, the economy can start growing again in Germany,' he told the mass circulation Bild am Sonntag in an interview.

"While the economy would shrink by 6% in 2020, growth by over 5% would be possible in 2021, Altmaier said."

Meanwhile, the United States has recovered from its downturn.

That happens when you elect a capitalist instead of someone raised a communist.

And I read how one Texas county is counting cases and no wonder the number is skyrocketing. How many others are counting this way? https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/07/covid_cheerleaders_change_the_rules_in_the_middle_of_the_game.html

I've been using stories like this to show my governor why kow-towing to the mobs is a bad idea. The crap that happened in Seattle (it's a shithole), the murder in Georgia saturday of an 8yo black child by a pos black man named 'Miracle' and his 5 black pos buddies.
And I tell her (or at least leave a message) that as long as she keeps accommodating these mobs of bullies, they're going to keep getting more aggressive. These bullies (I refuse to call them peaceful protesters) willfully associate themselves with this sort of violence and she needs to put some steel in her spine and put a stop to these bullies before the shit that happened in Seattle and Georgia or list your violence-du-jur happens here.
I never get a reply (I have left my name & number), but I'm hoping the reminders that the rights and safety of 3 million Iowans (should) outweigh the demands of an unruly mob of bullies.

Oh, and fyi to any nony libturd reading this, your beloved Behaving Like Monkeys mobs has killed more unarmed black people than were killed by cops in Minnesota. Fucking hypocrites!

    1. Agreed. MSM breathlessly reports upsurge in cases and hospitalizations but what they don't tell you is the majority are mild cases and most of the hospitalizations are 1) Mild flu-like systems and 2) Non-covid cases of people who put off surgeries/visits because they were afraid. Mortality rates are way down.

    3. I follow the Johns Hopkins statistical "dashboard" on kung flu cases. The key statistic here is the death count. For the last two months, the states of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois and Pennsylvania have tallied more than 50% of nationwide deaths. While California might challenge Pennsylvania for fifth place, I still don't see any change in five states totaling more than the other 45 in covid-19 deaths.

  7. The testing being used are giving positives for anyone who has any type of coronavirus, which is what a common cold is.
Money is a key factor in diagnosing deaths, the hospitals get more money from the Federal Government if a death is listed as caused by the Chinese Virus, is it any wonder why a person who had a heart attack but might have had a symptom of the Chinese Virus is being called due to Coronavirus?
I look at the deaths and the positive cases of the Chinese Virus as similar to how voting would be if the left get their wish for mail in voting. Massive fraud, inflated numbers for the outcome the left desperately want.

On a side note, it seems Obama's WH physician (who is also still in the WH, so he works for Trump now) believes Biden is in cognitive decline and needs to be tested for it. It is just further evidence of what so many of us can see with our own eyes. Biden has a form of dementia, and it's getting worse.

  10. Scott Adams says Trump's speech was divisive. I don't always agree with Adams, but I usually consider what he has to say.

All the talk of "heritage" and "culture", in his opinion, are election losers. I'll paraphrase his argument my own way: we are divided now to the point where blacks, Hispanics, and Indians do not feel like the heritage and culture have helped them out very much.

Personally, I do think Trump should try a slight shift in his strategy. I'm thinking like this:

    1. Start with: the Left has turned into a weird Satanic cult. I mean "Satan" in its original Hebrew meaning, which is "the Accuser." They take a perspective on American history, point out all of its flaws (as revealed by their deployment of Critical Theory), and never mention any of the good parts of American history that has made our country so successful for all these years.

    2. As a nation, we want to keep the things that has made it great and improve on the things that are holding us back. We can't do that unless we are unified.

    3. America under its current form of government is everyone's best hope. Can anyone name a country that has been more just, more willing to fix injustice, less oppressive, more willing to help others in need, more willing to risk its own people overseas to see that justice is served?

    4. People are thronging to our shores for a reason. They see what I see. America is the world's best hope.

Be a shame to destroy it all with bitterness and accusatory malice.

    6. What is missing from Adam's reasoning is the American public' knowledge of what has happened over the past 4+ weeks.

Part of the reason I asked "Did you watch Trump' speech - in it's entirety?" is because when Trump mentioned "culture" or "heritage" it was to accurately define the problem, to honor our past, or in defense of our future. I listed each instance below, and do not share Adam's "divisive" conclusion.

Part of the reason I asked is because Trump did cover all your points, and covered many of the specific details in your points.

Part of the reason I asked is because I 100% disagree with your conclusion: "Be a shame to destroy it all with bitterness and accusatory malice."

Right time, right speech, right president.

P13: "This is the very definition of totalitarianism, and it is completely alien to our culture and our values, and it has absolutely no place in the United States of America. "

P16: "To make this possible, they are determined to tear down every statue, symbol, and memory of our national heritage."

P57: "By tearing down Washington and Jefferson, these radicals would tear down the very heritage for which men gave their lives to win the Civil War; they would erase the memory that inspired those soldiers to go to their deaths, singing these words of the Battle Hymn of the Republic: “As He died to make men Holy, let us die to make men free, while God is marching on.”

P60: "For the sake of our honor, for the sake of our children, for the sake of our union, we must protect and preserve our history, our heritage, and our great heroes. "

P64: "He [MLK] called on his fellow citizens not to rip down their heritage, but to live up to their heritage. "

P66: "We are the culture that put up the Hoover Dam, laid down the highways, and sculpted the skyline of Manhattan. "

A woman that I met in Zimbabwe - managing the guest house I stayed at - helped me to understand just how indoctrinated white Westerns are when it comes to race and the "correct/ acceptable" viewpoints.

Like most Zimbabweans she was impoverished due to the policies of the Mugabe government. Yet the thing she was the most bitter about was how she is treated by white Westerns.

Despite the fact that she was born in Zimbabwe, as were her parents, white Westerns do not believe she is a "real" Zimbabwean or African. Why? Because she is white.

  12. Item 11: Redskins name

If you called someone a Nxxxxr, I'm sure you would not be surprised if you were told you used a racial/ ethnic slur. But if you called them Niggardly would you be surprised if you were told you used a racial/ ethnic slur?

As a writer you know that the word Niggardly is not a racial/ ethnic slur. But as someone who lives in the 21st century you also know that there are many people who believe sounding like it could be a slur is enough to convince them it is a slur.

One of the things that I am trying to determine - as best as I can - is if Redskin is like the word Niggardly, or like the word Nxxxxr.

Only one of those N-words has a history of being used as slur, and only the racial slur deserves universal condemnation.

Keep up the good work DS.

The last time this was an issue, I would send sports writers the following email:

    Observations:
I live in the east now, but I grew up in the west, southwest and mid-west. Regardless of where I lived, I can recall times when a racial/ ethnic slur was used in my presence or in works of fiction. But I can not recall even one instance of Redskins being used as a racial/ ethnic slur.

I fully recognize that just because I have not experienced something does not mean it never happened. Especially if the root cause for not experiencing something is because it rarely happens now, but did occur more frequently in the past.

If Redskins was used as a slur in the past, it is now part of history. But it is a history that most people do not remember. However, the great thing about history is that it is based on actual events, events do leave a trail, and the trail can be used to share events with people who did not witness or experience them.

    Requests:
Please use the resources available to you as a professional reporter to research and report instances - contemporary or historical - when Redskins was used as slur. Please provide examples from newspapers, books, movies, TV, etc. And definitely include examples from works of fiction too.

I have only heard the slurs Dxgo and Kxke used in fiction; but understood that the fiction was drawing from real life, and that those were real slurs.

Please use the resources available to you as a professional reporter to research and report historical instances when a sports team used a racial/ ethic slur as the team name.

    Opinion:
There will always be room for Commentary and Editorials, but a newspaper's contribution to the public is significantly deficient if it does not provide background and context too. The background and context - devoid of writers bias - is what readers need to truly understand the news or issues.

    Thank you for your time.

A Navajo lady was our waitress. she'd come up and take our order-she looked at me a like; "Hmph . One of the locals. got cousins that look like him."-Ok have cousins that looked like her, too.As for the Captain Im surprised she didn't say:"Want arsenic in your coffee,Yellowhair?" after a while it became funny,
and Larry the Captain said:"You know I'd better not tell her I was 7th Air Cav. in Vietnam."

  14. #4)  We were told we had to bend the curve which was a lie since freedoms are still being illegally and unconstitutional restricted; the emergency that theoretically authorized them has expired some time ago.  We didn't need masks, now we must have them when we leave our homes, we hear so much about the massive increase in cases when we have over 600,000 tests per day thus more cases determined, classify anyone in contact with someone with Covid-19 as having the disease with no testing, reporting of high rates of ICU use without telling us the percentage of virus patients or that the use is not above the normal past use per a hospital group CEO, the death rate is decreasing and hospitalizations are miss-classified maybe because hospitals are paid for Covid-19 cases.  As with politicians, health care professionals have little credibility now, period.
