Highlights of the News

Donald John Trump is still our president.

ITEM 1: Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream announced, "All of us at Ben & Jerry’s are outraged about the murder of another Black person by Minneapolis police officers last week and the continued violent response by police against protesters. We have to speak out. We have to stand together with the victims of murder, marginalization, and repression because of their skin color, and with those who seek justice through protests across our country. We have to say his name: George Floyd."

He is so marginalized that everyone knows his name.

The communique said, "Unless and until white America is willing to collectively acknowledge its privilege, take responsibility for its past and the impact it has on the present, and commit to creating a future steeped in justice, the list of names that George Floyd has been added to will never end. We have to use this moment to accelerate our nation's long journey towards justice and a more perfect union."

Ben & Jerry's was founded by two white guys. It is now owned by Unilever, a Dutch company.

That they disparage all white Americans is an insult.

Here's an idea, spin off Ben & Jerry's and give it to the NAACP. Put up or shut up.

ITEM 2: Politico reported, "The administration is working with the South Dakota governor’s office to plan a military flyover at Mount Rushmore during President Donald Trump’s visit to the national landmark on July 3 as part of Independence Day celebrations, a spokesperson for the governor confirmed to Politico.

"'We do anticipate there being a military flyover of some kind,; said Ian Fury, communications director for South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem. 'We’re communicating with numerous federal agencies on planning this event.'"

The Democrat response was "Should the president continue with his plan to hold another Salute to America event, it would have detrimental impacts on not only those that live in the National Capital Region, but all those who travel in from other areas of the country to attend. The Administration, including your agencies, should be focusing on helping American families, not on a vanity project for the president."

He is helping. He is helping American families to celebrate the nation's birth.

ITEM 3: The Wall Street Journal reported, "A former United Auto Workers president pleaded guilty Wednesday to embezzlement of union funds and racketeering, marking the highest-profile conviction yet in the government’s yearslong investigation into labor corruption within the auto industry.

"Gary Jones, who left the top post in November during contract talks with the Detroit auto makers, was accused earlier this year of conspiring with other UAW officials to embezzle more than $1 million to pay for private villas, expensive cigars, golf outings and other luxuries.

UAW members by and large don't care. Why should they? Thanks to the UAW their average wages are $90,000 a year. I would not care either.

ITEM 4: Jim Rose gets it.
No excitement until an indictment.

ITEM 5: Interesting.
The New York Times should run an obituary for each fallen officer on Page One.

Or was the covid-19 thing just a publicity stunt?

ITEM 6: Missouri's attorney general ain't happy.
Democrats want a race war.

Do not fall into that trap.

Think not? Look what the former No. 2 in the DNC is up to.
He does not want a conviction.

A conviction would not keep the racial tension going.

ITEM 7: Jim Acosta asked if clearing a park of protesters was called for.

White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany replied, "I would say it is uncalled for to throw bricks at officers, uncalled for to throw frozen water bottles at officers. And they also had received intelligence that there were calls for violence against police officers and they found caches of glass bottles, baseball bats and metal poles hidden along the streets. When an officer is at risk, they have the right to defend themselves. They did so peaceably. No one had — no fatalities, no severe injuries."

Acosta later said, "Protesters have a right to protest."

McEnany said, "I’ve watched a lot of the nation's coverage. Let's go through some of the things that happened when officers don't defend and protect themselves. In St. Louis, four police officers were shot. In Las Vegas, an officer was shot in the head and is on life support. In New York, a cop was beat up by people. In Providence, four or five officers and state troopers were injured. In Asbury Park, New Jersey, a police officer was injured. Police officers are out on the front lines. They’re defending and protecting you as you come into this building each and every day, Jim. We owe them honor. We owe them respect and when they are under attack, they have the ability to defend themselves."

10 days ago, protests were dangerous because of covid-19.

ITEM 8: The lockdown continues except the threat shifted from covid-19 to Antifa goons.
Pray for New York. Not all the people voted for Mayor de Blasio.

ITEM 9: Breitbart News reported, "Former Secretary of Defense James Mattis published an attack on President Donald Trump on Wednesday, accusing the president of violating the Constitution in clearing Lafayette Park on Monday and using the military to quell riots.

"In an extraordinary statement, published in The Atlantic, Mattis calls the rioters and looters a ;small number of lawbreakers' among 'tens of thousands of people of conscience who are insisting that we live up to our values.”

"He also compares President Trump to a Nazi..."

Enough.

I could not read any more of his BS.

Obama was the real threat to the Constitution when he spied on President Trump.

Mattis is a four-star fool.

ITEM 10: Breitbart News reported, "Video from Wednesday afternoon shows Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) surrounded by guards as she walks near protesters.

"In video published by CNN, Pelosi can be seen walking under heavy foliage, surrounded by men in suits, ties, and sunglasses.

"The Hill described the men as Pelosi’s security detail and noted that Pelosi was walking among 'a crowd of demonstrators outside the Capitol' when the video was taken."

She is two heartbeats away from the presidency, and so we protect her.

But every one in this nation is one heartbeat away from death. We must have guns, too.

ITEM 11: Business Insider reported, "Amazon drops $2 corona virus pay raise for warehouse workers as CEO Jeff Bezos' fortune nears $150 billion."

This is another reason I hate journalism: the ham-handed attempts to divide people.

His fortune is Amazon. He built it. Those who don't want to work there do not have to.

Just report the facts. I can reach my own decision.

ITEM 12: The Washington Free Beacon reported, "A former Obama administration intelligence official who worked in both the Departments of State and Defense has guaranteed bail for a human rights lawyer accused of firebombing a police vehicle in New York City.

"The former official, Salmah Rizvi, told a judge the alleged firebomber is her best friend. Rizvi, now an attorney at the D.C.-based law firm Ropes & Gray, helped secure the release of fellow lawyer Urooj Rahman by agreeing to be a suretor for her bail. That means Rizvi is liable for the full cost of the $250,000 bail if Rahman fails to obey the court's orders.

"Rahman was released to home confinement over the objections of government attorneys after her arrest on Saturday for throwing a lit Molotov cocktail through the window of an NYPD vehicle. Evidence presented by prosecutors included images of Rahman holding a Molotov cocktail in the passenger seat of a van that was later found to be full of the necessary materials for making the explosive devices.

"U.S. District Judge Margo Brodie acknowledged the strong evidence against Rahman, who was also accused of distributing the incendiary devices to other rioters, but agreed to grant her bail due to the 'willingness of family and friends to sign on as suretors,' according to a report from Law360."

The evil of the Obama administration is relentless.

ITEM 13: NPR reported, "Mass protests that have erupted over police brutality toward black people in America are raising concerns about the risk of spreading the coronavirus. But some health experts, even as they urge caution, said they support the demonstrations — because racism also poses a dire health threat.

"Tens of thousands of people, masked and unmasked, have thronged the streets of Minneapolis, Atlanta, Louisville, Ky., and other cities in the week since George Floyd died after a white Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck. They are the largest public gatherings in the U.S. since the pandemic forced widespread shutdowns, and many local officials warned of a possible spike in new cases in one or two weeks.

"'Risk of transmission is lower in open spaces, but wherever there is a gathering there is still the risk of transmitting the virus,' said Dr. Elaine Nsoesie, an assistant professor of global health at Boston University.

"Health experts urged protesters not to sing and shout to reduce the threat of person-to-person transmission. And they cautioned that police tactics such as tear gas and pepper spray could exacerbate the situation by prompting people to cough and gasp for air."

Democrats sent six police to arrest one man on a surfboard in an ocean hundreds of yards from the nearest person, but allow (and encourage) these riots.

Don't get depressed by all this awful news. Get even and vote.

ITEM 14: Glenn Harlan Reynolds, a longtime champion of private space exploration, wrote, "There’s a lot of wealth in space as I wrote back in 2013, "A 79-foot-wide M-type (metallic) asteroid could hold 33,000 tons of extractable metals, including $50 million in platinum alone. A 23-foot-diameter C-type (carbonaceous) asteroid can hold 24,000 gallons of water, useful for generating fuel and oxygen. Larger asteroids could be worth as much as the GDP of a superpower. Asteroid 1986 DA is a metallic asteroid made up of iron, nickel, gold and platinum. Estimates of its value range between $6 trillion and $7 trillion. Something that size won't be retrieved anytime soon, but the figure gives some idea of just how much wealth is out there."

"People have been talking about asteroid mining for awhile and even started companies with that in mind, but they’ve been slowed down by two problems: The expense of getting into outer space, and the legal uncertainties around extracting lunar and asteroid resources. Musk is addressing the expense; Trump is addressing the legal uncertainty."

The value of that asteroid boggles the mind until you consider the value of North America when Queen Elizabeth and Sir Walter Raleigh began the original British invasion.

Reynolds ended his column, "it may well be that future historians will remember 2020 much more for being the second beginning of a wave of human expansion into space, than for the grubby earthbound problems that occupy the news on a daily basis. I certainly hope so."

Oh it will.

It will.

ITEM 15: Obama opened his mouth and spewed out his usual pack of lies about the Antifa riots and looting.

Michael Barone wrote, "The uncomfortable fact is that the election and reelection of the first African American president did not produce the improvement in racial relations most of the public surely hoped for."

That's because Obama was as alien to the black experience in America as I am. Neither one of us had an ancestor who was a slave. That apparently matters.

ITEM 16: The Daily Wire reported, "The years-long case against former Trump national security adviser retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn continues despite the Department of Justice announcing weeks ago that it wants it thrown out — but the end is near.

"Keeping the case alive is Federal District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan, who has refused the Justice Department’s request to immediately dismiss the case, instead deciding to first reexamine the case with the help of retired judge John Gleeson. But the standoff between the Justice Department and Sullivan appears to be coming to a head, both filing directly conflicting motions on Monday to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, which has since announced that it will be holding oral arguments next week."

Justice delayed is justice denied.

Judge Sullivan needs to retire.

ITEM 17: The Associated Press reported, " In an abrupt reversal, Defense Secretary Mark Esper on Wednesday overturned an earlier Pentagon decision to send a couple hundred active-duty soldiers home from the Washington, D.C., region, amid growing tensions with the White House over the military response to the protests.

"Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy told The Associated Press that he was told about the reversal after Esper attended a meeting at the White House, and after other internal Pentagon discussions. It is unclear if Esper met with President Donald Trump. McCarthy said he believes the change was based on ensuring there is enough military support in the region to respond to any protest problems if needed."

Esper does not like using the military to do this.

Too bad.

We elected Donald Trump commander-in-chief. Esper of all people should be aware of chain of command. Maybe it is time to kick him to the curb. Some think tank will put him on the payroll and he can occasionally bad-mouth the president like a Mini Mattis.

FINALLY, I could watch this all day.
This is not CNN.

UPDATE: The slug was actually in Baltimore. TV stations are showing only the part where he hit her, not where she attacked another officer.

UPDATE 2: I am told she is black.

  1. !1st night, I watched this video of Coeur D'Alene to see a peaceful town together in protecting itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkFM-hgY4Kg&t=692s

Contrast this with the praise heaped on the fools destroying the inner city neighborhoods.

All five of them. There 10X as many protesting the Paraders than Paraders. glad to see it hasn't changed any.. and you won't see it on CNN.

Whenever I hear of someone whom I once respected go negative on President Trump, I've got to wonder whatinthehell does Obama and/or the Left have on that person? For Mattis to go that far, they must have something really bad on him.

    3. I agree Kitty, and FLOlson. Obama/someone has something on a bunch of people. Every time I see something that is just so against the Constitution, and common sense. Things like Roberts voting to oppress freedom of religion by curtailing services and then bang, we have thousands wondering the streets in close contact but heaven help a church that wants to have an indoor service with people seated 10 ft apart.

    4. I'm puzzled as to whether Mattis is being blackmailed or is a terminal case of TDS. I don't think Mattis or Roberts have such skeletons in their closets that they could be easily compromised. But the dimocrat crime syndicate has long learned the techniques of mafia type "persuasion", e.g. "nice family you have; be a shame if anything should happen to them."

    5. Kelly said he agreed with Mattis. Trump showed both a great deal of respect. Both have now earned the antipathy of Americans. Hypocrites both.

ITEM 15: Obumbles was POTUS for eight freaking years, and race relations crumbled under him, by design. No one with an ounce of intelligence and integrity should listen to him. Don is right, Obumbles never lived the black experience, because he was coddled by white leftists. He is nothing but their figurehead.

  10. ITEM #3: The only reason UAW workers should care is the gravy train is going to coming to an end. Electric cars are the future. Telsas are not only electric they're simply better. No brag just fact.

Not to mention it takes far fewer workers to assemble them.

So far EVs are an after thought for the legacy auto manufacturers and all this upheaval is only resulting in EV plans being pushed back. Big mistake.

Telsa has such a huge lead now in the batteries, software and manufacturing that if that complacency continues those making $90K will all too soon discover it's hard to make that elsewhere when you have a limited skill set.

On the other hand "Tesla Millionaires" will become a commonly referenced term that's already becoming a reality for many early investors who got in at $30 a share. Yesterday's closing price was $882.

ITEM #13 NPR gotta keep their back up plan for getting Trump alive. Wuhan Take 2.

Problem is governors are starting to recognize they can't afford to shut down again.

Here in OHIO the budget hole is $2.5 Billion. Rainy day fund is $2.7 billion. POOF! Gone.

Now what will be interesting is what Dewine says should cases increase when the mantra was "saving even one life makes all this worth it". Until it doesn't. Or you can't afford the luxury.

Because the coming cuts are not gonna be fat. They're not gonna be muscle. They're gonna be bone. And without the benefits of anesthesia. Or painful.

ITEM #15. BO also forgot there is only one president at a time and he ain't it. He should just retire to Martha's Vineyard and keep his thoughts to himself.

    ITEM FINALLY

We may like watching but not the Baltimore mayor.

Baltimore Mayor Jack Young described the video as “deeply disturbing.”

Not because a cop was being slapped around but because a citizen was KO'd.

    So that cop was suspended.
